I would love to be able to have different home screen settings depending on device. On my smart tv i primarily want to see my tv and movie related content on the home screen, on my phone I want my music library to take centre stage. I don't wanna have to create a whole new profile just for this...2 points

Hello, Just a message to support. I use Emby as targeted, family scope only but it starts to be around 20 users; even at this scale, repeating the same clicks when I create a user (remove permissions to delete and manage library I let him see) is boring. Recently I added a personal photos library so it's for my wife and I; it was needed to go on all other users profile to uncheck "access to all libraries" and then uncheck the new one from the list. Even if it's not group management, but I think that like me most of the users have more users than libraries, so a permission rule set library-based would be much better than user-based. Eg I prefer to uncheck 20 checkbox in the new library parameters (25 clicks) than uncheck 1 box in 20 users profiles (100 clicks).2 points

@LukeAdditionally, I've expanded on the source's wcdg player by adding play/pause/seek support (renamed stop to pause and added new seek method) which might need some refining due to the method only relying on integers as points in time. Hopefully this is somewhat helpful to you guys. wcdg.js index.html2 points

Want this to be a democracy? Gazillions(*) of users have installed the app meanwhile, so their vote is clear. Less than a dozen of users have complained about it so far. So, as for a democracy - the votes are very clear. (*) replace by a very large number with lots of zeros2 points

When viewing media info during playback, the menu will disappear after just a couple of seconds idle time. This does not leave me enough read through the media summary, or to look through the cast. Could the idle timeout be increased to, say, 20 seconds, or entirely disabled, thus leaving it up to the user to press the back button to exit the media info menu?1 point

Hey Everyone, I've been a long time Emby user, and have used many different icons/images over the years to try to add my own custom look to my server. I've had sets I've used but they never really felt like they were a 'set' or looked like they all looked/worked together having a common look and feel. I eventually a few weeks ago tried the latest 'Fad' of creating images from text using A.I. with some success, but results were inconsistent, and many of the sites or apps didn't easily support creating image sets, more 1 or 2 images, or you can pay a fortune for something I may not want to use again. Soooo....., I finally decided to just start from scratch and sit down and design my own images for my library using Adobe Photoshop. Here I've tried to create a premium look, that has a consistent look and feel, and I always think ahead to what these will actually look like on a TV screen. Which I must say, they look sharp!! You'll also notice, I had the afterthought of making them have an iPad feel to them, which turned out to really finish them off. I've attached my PNG images for an idea of what I've created, and included all PSD files to match, plus empty template, font and images. Please use and enjoy, change as needed, and definitely come back and show me what you've done with my template. Enjoy. All files can be download from my Emby folder of my Google Drive. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-NI9FnxDDqRnkOzRaPEfgx_elnuqctYI/view?usp=sharing1 point

That's unfortunate. I appreciate that while it may seem straightforward on the surface, under the covers it is not.1 point

Hi team, Love the platform but my biggest gripe has to be that I can only configure one home screen that then applies to all devices. We have a kids TV, and adults TV, and individual TVs where the home screen for one use-case is not the same for all. It would be great if we could configure the libraries for each device. Thanks in advance!1 point

Sounds promising, they should be in a good position to create the emby user in UGOS avoiding the manual workaround, and be able to target an alternative storage group for install which should get around the need to symbolic link /var/lib/emby (which might also solve the startup problem). That would just leave the real time monitoring issue to look at. tbh the basic Debian install is still quite useful, I'm fine with it, but some of the workarounds might be a bit daunting for those not so skilled in Linux. I have to say I'm really impressed with the UGreen NAS, I had originally tried a Synology NAS but it couldn't cope with transcoding due to their lack of GPU. Add to that the recent models restricting supported drives I suspect there may be a lot of people moving away from Synology in the near future, and UGreen seems a good alternative.1 point

@LukeChannelUp/ChannelDown on the remote triggers PageUp/PageDown events, not Channel Up/down events. I don't think you can just remap these in a simple way as we still need Page Up/Down for navigating list views. Maybe we can respond to page up/down events as channel buttons during playback. Edit: Forget that, I don't think it's worked that way for while. We just need to respond to PageUp/Down events for channel changes.1 point

Responding here in case someone else runs into this. It wasn't solved by magic, Chrome was actually storing and trying to load the Jellyfin page that uses the same address. It also thinks that stored passwords are the same for each, as they use the same address. There is a site config button on the left of the Chrome address bar that one can click on > then cookies and site data > then manage on-device site data > then click the little trash can to delete the stored data and refresh the page.1 point

Hello all, I use the Emby app version 3.4.74 on 2 Android tablets to watch concerts. The video files naturally have chapters so that you can select the desired title directly. Now I don't know when the behavior “crept in”. I press "Chapters" below the timeline, the individual chapters are displayed, I can move them sideways briefly if necessary, but before I can select one, the bar is already hidden again, is that correct? A sensible selection is not possible! When testing on my cell phone, I can't select any chapters at all because an option for this is not even displayed, has this always been the case? I can slide over the timeline and search, but that's not really satisfactory. Am I too stupid to use the app or ...? ? best regards AL Hifi1 point

i couldn't get the id in the folder names to work no matter what i did, but deleting everything but tvshow.nfo and just putting in it, for all 3, then moving them in and scanning finally did the trick.1 point

Interesting. I think this creates my "solution". The first music library makes it Music. The second mixed content library makes it music from above, and only displays icons for each stream/channel.1 point

There is both MST and MDT. Most of Arizona (including Phoenix) is on MST and does not follow daylight saving time (there is a small portion of Arizona that does Daylight Saving in the Navajo nation and it is currently on MDT). In MST, where I am, the current time is 18:22. MDT is currently at 19:22. I believe those screenshots are correct for the timezone they refer to as Eastern Pacific. I currently have Saturday Night Live with Chris Farley on the TV, which matches the 6PM Eastern Pacific time.1 point

The issue is resolved. Emby always launched immediately. I know what you're referring too and on the older Roku's I had to install a memory card many years ago, it doesn't appear to be an issue with this one normally. ETA: suspecting this might of been an issue long before I posted I deleted several apps off of the unit and made sure everything was up to date. Even after deleting apps it persisted. What we did notice is that once we tried to watch something the time to forced shutdown of the app decreased.1 point

Yes, I had this issue before and this was the fix. Never had the issue since. There is a lot of posts on Reddit about this exact issue.1 point

When creating a user, we have the option to copy the settings from another existing user. After the user has been created, we can't do that again. It would be nice to "reapply" the settings from (for example a template user) to other users so that their settings are copied again. On servers with multiple users this saves up having to manually compare each field when something changes, for example transcoding settings, bandwidth, etc. This would also be useful to copy the settings from (amonth other things) the homescreen or display settings. They're a different section within Emby (I think) but it would be nice to also copy these settings from other users as (I personally) tend to shift the home sections around every now and then to make Emby feel a little more lively.1 point

@Luke @GrimReaperapparently someone had this working in HTML (12 years ago!) see https://ltucker.github.io/html5_karaoke/. The implementation is rather straightforward: <html> <head> <script src="./wcdg.js"></script> </head> <body> <div id="karaoke-player"></div> <canvas id="karaoke-display" width="600" height="432" style="background: url('player.png')"> </canvas> <br> <audio id="song"> <source src="./example.mp3" type="audio/mpeg"> </audio> <br> <script> var player = new CDGPlayer(document.getElementById('karaoke-display')); player.load("./example.cdg"); document.getElementById('song').addEventListener("playing", function () { player.play(); }); document.getElementById('karaoke-display').addEventListener('click', function () { document.getElementById('song').play(); }); </script> </body> </html> Do the other platforms also have access to JS? Regardless, I've added the files in the attachments, with exception of the .cdg and .mp3 for copyright reasons. index.html wcdg.js1 point

Actually we spoke to Ugreen and they want to handle it themselves .They said they are going to build a native package, presumably by wrapping around our native debian package. That was months ago and I bugged them again about it a few weeks ago, but nothing yet.1 point

It happen again with the new series, tv was off for an hour, I powered it on, watched one episode and then it did it. When I can determine the steps or a pattern to reproduce I'll come back.1 point

I'm very keen on having an Album sub-category of Release Type (have posted ideas previously so won't repeat everything here). I think this "other" method suggested by Luke would be the best approach for implementing anything. "Albums" should stay as the combined top-level, otherwise the Songs, Albums, Appears On, etc. pages could become unwieldy (especially for casual users) with perhaps too much information to scroll through. There would also be inconsistent hierarchical navigation flow of the whole UI (if that makes any kinda weird sense???) Album Release Types such as "Studio", "Live" etc. should ideally be the next-level down and viewed on the Albums detail page for an Artist. Splitting the top-level Albums into further top-level categories does not make sense to me. I would prefer having the overview of all Artist Albums (and item count) and then a sub-level of Album Types. Group By could then be used to split into the Release Types or not, as required.1 point

Emby is not a democracy, its a commercial entity. We can provide feedback but ultimately its their decision how to package software and we can choose whether or not to purchase their products.1 point

I remember those FireDTV cards, they were pretty popular back in the day. I also had some trouble keeping them stable with different tools. Would be cool if Emby had smoother support for them now.1 point
