Hi Luke Thanks for the tip, that works! Wish I'd known about this a few years ago One minor bug which you're probably aware of. When fast forwarding, if you FF past the current live position it keeps going. Then the display pauses until the broadcast catches up with where you've fast forwarded to! Ideally it should stop FF when you get to the current live position.2 points

Thanks Luke. I actually have them in a different folder and figured out how to use the manual grouping function to combine them. Then I removed the 4K folder from the user's access and that did what I needed. I know there's auto-grouping tools but this worked good enough for what I need.2 points

Hello everyone, First of all, thanks to LoV432. Your workaround also works for a native installation of Emby 4.8.11 on Ubuntu Server with an Intel Ultra 7 255H processor / Intel Arc 140 iGPU. Here are my steps on a clean Ubuntu Server 24.04 LTS installation: # System update & upgrade to newer kernel (Arrow Lake CPUs require kernel > 6.10) sudo apt update sudo apt install --install-recommends linux-generic-hwe-24.04 sudo reboot sudo apt update sudo apt upgrade # Install Intel graphics drivers sudo apt install -y software-properties-common sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:kobuk-team/intel-graphics sudo apt install -y libze-intel-gpu1 libze1 intel-metrics-discovery intel-opencl-icd clinfo intel-gsc intel-media-va-driver-non-free libmfx-gen1 libvpl2 libvpl-tools libva-glx2 va-driver-all vainfo # Verify VA-API installation vainfo # Install Emby Server wget https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/4.8.11.0/emby-server-deb_4.8.11.0_amd64.deb sudo dpkg -i emby-server-deb_4.8.11.0_amd64.deb rm emby-server-deb_4.8.11.0_amd64.deb # Copy required libraries and fix dependencies sudo cp -r /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/* /opt/emby-server/extra/lib/ sudo mv /opt/emby-server/lib/libstdc++.so.6 /tmp/libstdc++.so.6.bk sudo cp /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6 /opt/emby-server/lib/libstdc++.so.6 # Restart Emby sudo systemctl restart emby-server.service That’s it - Emby should now be running with Intel GPU support. Have a nice day folks2 points

A new plugin is in the Emby plugin catalog for Emby Premiere users, largely developed by @softworkz. This plugin requires Emby Server version 4.9.1.27+, so unless you're running that, you will not see it. WebStreams This is designed to be a better version of the IPTV plugin. You can now import both single streams as well as M3U lists into Emby Server. Eventually we may also add RSS support and merge the podcasts plugin into this. Beyond RSS, there is also the potential to support other formats if there's enough demand for them. Features Import both single streams and M3U lists into Emby Server TV episodes within M3U are displayed with Series and Season hierarchies, just like regular libraries (make sure to select the appropriate content type when adding a source) Rich metadata support using MovieDb and TVDB (make sure to select the appropriate content type when adding a source) Ability to filter what gets imported Known Issues We need to add more visibility into the server's background refresh queue. You can see the progress of it on the webstreams config page. Currently if you restart the server in the middle of this, then you will need to run the refresh channels scheduled task.1 point

Thank you for your reply. A typical playback scenario is: a movie's additional part contain multiple external subtitle tracks, and I wish to select them in advance. In other words, I want the playback behavior to be under my own control.1 point

Just to update, the problem occurred again since disabling those two plugins. However, I did also run my recent error logs through ChatGPT and Gemini Pro and one suggestion is that the database file may have been locked by a real-time backup application. I have Backblaze running continuously on this system and have never excluded any of Emby's system folders. I've now excluded the Emby folder and since doing so have had no reoccurrence of this issue. I'll report back again in a few days.1 point

I'm not trying to dismiss that either, I don't envy the amount of work to maintain Emby across so many instances. It's just a touch odd that someone had to go to the effort to build the template, and sort of labeled it, but put in default UID/GID that simply wouldn't work. If anything, all I want to do is help as well, maybe a quick template for the build and packaging developer, of what seems to be the most standard config amongst the community variations. Network Type: Bridge Console Shell Command: Shell Port: Web Interface: 8096 Path: Config: /mnt/user/appdata/embyserver Path: Media: /mnt/user/media Variable: PUID: 99 Variable: PGID: 100 Variable: UMASK: 002 When adding a "configuration type" to the template, adding the type to the label, and then it's purpose really helps for those not that savvy. It helps to understand that if you want to add additional paths for segregated libraries not in the same parent folder, that you can. Hope I save someone a few minutes some day!1 point

Thumbnails in live TV still in poster which is crappy. I can't even see the teams that are playing on sports events because the edges get cropped. It's been six years since the original 'we can look into it'. It just looks sooooo bad and I can't just glance at them quickly as I'm scrolling. Have to read every single one of them to know the teams that are playing.1 point

I and two others watched live tv yesterday and with the exception of a few signal glitches it never got stuck or paused, so I guess we can write this one off too on user error. I'm still not sure why Emby choked on the SSD. Maybe it was because the file system type was zfs? I don't know, but moving the transcode folder to an nvme m.2 drive fixed the issue (now set as system file type xfs). Appreciate the support.1 point

yes, I forced the 4.9.1.27 install again and after a reboot, Continue Watching was back.1 point

Not a surprise... The original video may have issues created by a limit to what mobile video recording is possible with your phone. The shortcuts the mobile video recording makes to allow full frames per second capture, may prove too much for other players software and hardware to play back smoothly. Examples of issues that the original media might have: https://www.fastpix.io/blog/video-playback-issues-how-to-identify-test-and-fix-streaming-problems Handbreak typically sees and fixes such issues, giving you a media copy that can better playback on all players.1 point

Hi, one thing you can do is use the app settings to force server transcoding on avi files. This should resolve it.1 point

Yes - like for all channel plugins, the refresh is executed during the "Refresh Internet Channels" task. But that's just for creating the actual items in Emby Server. This usually doesn't take longer than a few minutes. The much larger part is when metadata retrieval is enabled. The actual refresh task creates the Emby items and adds them to the queue for metadata refresh. For the latter, there's no scheduled task. It's a queue that is always working until it's empty. Even when "Refresh Internet Channels" is finished, you may still see the queue growing. That's because one thing leads to another, e.g. metadata is retrieved for a media item, and the metadata includes people (actors, crew) or is part of a series and has a season, those new items are getting added to the queue as well. Short answer Yes - configure the "Refresh Internet Channels"task to run at a specific time instead of the default "every 12hI".1 point

Correct - there are several causes for running out of buffer (causing hangs). But these are very different depending on the type of stream: For live streams, an increased buffer can help, because it sets you back a little more behind the "live edge". So any processing that is happening - like for creating segments - can make you run out-of-buffer. For example, when a live stream is served in segments of 10s length, and you have a buffer delay of just 5s, you might play one segment as soon as it's ready and downloaded, and when those 10s are played, the next 10s might not be ready and downloaded in time. With a 30s buffer, this won't happen, because you'll always have the next one or two segments downloaded already when the previous 10s have been finished playing. (just for illustration, typically, segments are 2 or 3s) For VOD streams on the other hand, there is no "live edge" that is limiting download of future content. In that case an increased buffer doesn't help at all. When you are experiencing hangs (out-of-buffer), then it means one of two things: Either the provider cannot serve the content quickly enough (maybe it does some ad-hoc conversion, but usually it's only urls to mp4 files where Emby server is requesting specific byte ranges), otherwise, the network connection is too slow to transfer the data as fast as needed. In both cases, increasing the buffer will only vary between more frequent short time hangs or less frequent hangs but of longer duration until playback resumes. TL/DR If you are seeing hangs with live streams => Don't use WebStreams for Live TV streams - it's not made for that! It's not only inferior to TVnext's live tv stream handling, but even inferior to the current live TV M3U tuner If you're seeing hangs with VOD content => Check your network conditions or try another provider1 point

What about adding new option to link calibre to emby as the plugin to link emby to kodi so we can have all our books ready to download via interface of emby .If we want, we can link the calibre libraries to emby, so we can use all the abilities of calibre of conversion and cover fetching etc then display the resultant libraries in emby I think this can be added by one of three ways: 1-Connect to calibre content server 2-use the db file found in every calibre library and read it to present the book without interfacing with calibre at all but using ready made libraries directly 3-parse the opf files of books to create the database of books of Emby1 point

Even though Emby lists podcast support, from what I can tell, it appears to be very limited. Mostly just rss connections to stream the latest episode. No distinct library option. I have all the old episodes of any podcast I subscribe to downloaded and stored locally. I'd love if Emby added a podcast database supplier, so that an organized and real system to sorting the episodes existed. https://www.podchaser.com/ This site lists most every podcast/episode that exists. It would be nice to have a site like this linked with Emby so that metadata can be ported over. Also, having a distinct library option for podcasts would make this a lot easier as well. Mixed libraries and using Music libraries as options have too many drawbacks. Thanks.1 point
