  1. I was about to post the same. I prefer the director, or any crew member, to be listed at the end of the Actors/Actresses. There should be an option to show the order you want cast or crew.

  2. Personally, I find the director being listed first atrocious and never want to see it there. And it particularly irks me that 4.9 beta does that when reading local NFOs so much so that I will literally never update over current stable, meaning 4.8+ will apparently be my last Emby version ever (unless changes implemented or Cast & Crew split into their respective rows). But I do understand and respect users wishes that do want them more prominent and more easily accessible, layouts should be streamlined accross all clients and TV apps should have same ease of access to those as mobile and Web apps do.

  3. Hi, we'll have our build and packaging developer review this. Thanks.

  4. That was my bad, /media mapping was retained in the library settings, resolved. Shoutout to Emby support, the binhex container was recommended for ease of GPU configuration, but it was in fact the problem. The official EmbyServer docker is not having any issues with DOVI HDR10 4K content being converted to HD. Apologies for the string along, I didn't know any better myself. I owe yeah a beer! TLDR - Use official EmbyServer on Unraid / Ensure correct permissions. Thanks!

  5. Hi Emby team, I paid for Lifetime Emby Premiere because I believed Emby would keep up. After years on Emby and now running a Mac mini (Apple Silicon), I’m honestly frustrated and disappointed — especially after spending just two days testing Jellyfin side-by-side. This isn’t a rage post. It’s a reality check from a paying customer who feels left behind on macOS. 1) Hardware acceleration on macOS isn’t where it should be in 2025 On Emby (4.8.11.0), only H.264 hardware acceleration consistently engages for me. HEVC often falls back to software and hammers the CPU. Meanwhile, Jellyfin on the same machine uses Apple’s VideoToolbox reliably and — this was the gut punch — can hardware-accelerate HDR→SDR tone-mapping and even remap Dolby Vision Profile 5 to correct SDR colors on my library. A free competitor doing this while a paid product struggles is hard to swallow. It’s been years since Apple Silicon launched. We’re still missing dependable HEVC HWA and modern, accurate HDR/Dolby Vision handling in Emby on macOS. 2) “Convert Media” appears stuck on software on macOS Playback transcoding sometimes taps H.264 hardware, but server-side Convert Media does not (even when the target is H.264). My CPU pegs to 100% for long stretches. If there’s a way to offload these conversions with VideoToolbox on macOS, it’s either not implemented or not documented. Either way, that’s not acceptable for a paid, cross-platform server in 2025. 3) The ecosystem gap is widening (SSO, skip features, etc.) SSO/OIDC: This keeps coming up in Emby threads. Jellyfin already has a working plugin. I shouldn’t need workarounds for basic identity in a family server. Intro/credits/recap/ad skipping: Jellyfin’s plugins detect intros, credits, recaps, previews — even mid-roll ad segments — and can auto-skip from the server. In practice it’s more capable and less fiddly than what I get with Emby today. Music lyrics: Emby can display lyrics, yes, but the experience across clients is inconsistent and still feels behind competitors. 4) Why this matters now: the homelab shift from x86 to Apple Silicon I’m one of many who have moved from x86/NAS to Mac mini for home self-hosting: lower idle power, quiet 24/7 operation, and strong integrated media engines. This shift is real — a growing slice of homelabbers are standardizing on macOS for exactly these reasons. Competitors (Jellyfin, Plex) have clearly invested in macOS paths and moved faster to meet this demand. Emby hasn’t kept pace. If macOS isn’t treated as a first-class server platform, paying users like me are going to drift away — not because we want to, but because we can’t wait forever. 5) Communication with Mac users has been poor This is the part that stings: macOS requests sit for ages without a concrete answer. If there’s a roadmap, we don’t see it. If there’s progress, it isn’t communicated. What I expect as a paying customer Give us specifics — dates and deliverables — not “we’ll look into it.” macOS hardware acceleration parity: Reliable HEVC encode/decode, hardware HDR→SDR tone-mapping, and correct Dolby Vision (P5) handling on Apple Silicon. Hardware-accelerated Convert Media on macOS: Not just playback transcoding — library conversions must use VideoToolbox where possible. Official SSO/OIDC: First-party, documented, maintained. Server-side skip segments: An endorsed, end-to-end solution for intro/credits/recap (plus guidance for DVR ad detection), with consistent client behavior. A transparent macOS roadmap: Public, mac-specific media-pipeline/HWA plan with milestones. No more guessing. Treat macOS as first-class: Assign ownership to the mac media pipeline, publish known issues/workarounds, and close the loop with actual releases. I’m happy to provide logs, test builds, and real-world repro steps. But please don’t tell me to switch OS, “use software,” or wait indefinitely. I bought Lifetime because I wanted Emby to be my long-term home. Right now, on macOS, it isn’t. Please meet your macOS users where we are — with a plan, not silence.

Looks a little bit strange how to manage the wiki and add my stream url's probably I need to read a little bit more at the moment i didn't get it but I only had now 5 minutes to look at it ;). I can provide my list mainly from Switzerland radio stations 66 stream url's all updated.

  12. Hmmm.. That is a possibility i will have to avoid. I will have to experiment a little and see what possible since i can't work around what Emby gives. For now at least people will have to make sure to provide thumbs for the series if they want icons in the continue watching. Guess there will always be some limitations with a plugin like this. Edit: Forgot to say, it might be impossible to have it show episode icons instead of TV show icons because Emby shows the poster for TV shows only in the continue watching.

  14. That's very interesting!! I *MIGHT* be able to make it use the backdrops as fallback if there is no thumb. Never thought that Emby used backdrops instead because i thought they were just for.. Well.. Backdrops. Nice find, thank you!

  15. Whats this now? Directors will be listed first now? Guess I wont be updating either.

  16. If not thumb Emby falls back to Backdrop. Notice the south park sign move

  17. Sigh... I wish I had noticed earlier. I already said that our FFmpeg hasn't changed for years and I've never seen that error before - but I've been too focused on driver setup. Always use our official FFmpeg binaries please. There's no support for custom builds (this issue perfectly illustrates why - )

  18. I had this issue with South Park. It turnes out I did not have a thumb picture. No thumb. Thumb.

  23. All my problems seems to have been related to the fact that I was on the old legacy app. Everything is working fine in the 2.234.20.0 for me (except for audio volume, which i just posted a question about). Thanks Luke.

  24. Honestly i dont have any working Visual Studio IDE here running, neither a Windows OS and nobody could explain to me how to build Emby Plugins with VS Code etc. when i akses years ago. The Plugin is open source and not very complicated. So if anybody like to modify it everyone is free to fork it. I have not used it in months to honest.

  25. You need to install python https://www.python.org/downloads/ make sure to check add to path when installing then paste the code in a notepad and save it as whatever name u like with the file extension .py e.g telegram.py then run it from a console. (Open cmd change directory to the folder where u save the code then type python telegram.py)

  26. It's been a long-running promise - sorry about that - but finally fulfilled: Mediathek Stream Sources can be found here: https://streamfeeds.github.io/web/ (please note that this is a 3rd-party site and neither provided by, nor affiliated with Emby)

  27. There is no "lack of smartness". Those prices are already just paying for those "35" relevant channels (more or less). The "useless channels" are either there because they are even paying for getting included or because they have to be included due to contractual agreements for the "35 relevant channels". At the bottom line, even the opposite is true: If they would provide a package that would include only those "35 relevant channels", they would have to charge even more - not less.

  28. The funniest parts is the MBAs are sitting around scratching their heads as to why they are losing subscribers. They are not smart enough if you keep increasing the price for LESS to compensate for the lost revenue on those who have already left soon you won't have anybody left. They are pricing themselves out of businesss. Sadly if they were smart, and dumped all those useless channels to make a cable package of the 35 channels most watched and priced it fair then everyone would have cable for $50 a month and they would make more revenue. They are not smart.

  32. Is the "new" web streams plugin part of Tvnext we are waiting for 5 years? .....or is it another emby developers kitchen throwing a small bone so people stop bitching why their premiere feature live tv is working like trumps brain.

  33. I think you should look at this first. Because of this from your log. System.IO.IOException: System.IO.IOException: The configured user limit (8192) on the number of inotify watches has been reached, or the operating system failed to allocate a required resource. Then you have issues with Emby reaching the internet. MediaBrowser.Model.Net.HttpException: MediaBrowser.Model.Net.HttpException: Connection to https://www.mb3admin.com/admin/service/EmbyPackages.json timed out MediaBrowser.Model.Net.HttpException: MediaBrowser.Model.Net.HttpException: Connection to https://api.themoviedb.org/3/configuration?api_key=x_secret2_x timed out These are usually some sort of VPN, Firewall or network issue. Have a look at all this then try again.

  37. Whoops, another typo fix - very minor. v. 1.06c2 with corrections Webkit browsers were missing some animation code. This version 1.06c2 fixes that so Safari and other browsers should now have Promo Fade-out working correctly. CSS code = never ending fiddling State Street ver 1.06c2 Emby Custom theme.css

  38. That's not true: HDR passthrough is only supported by Apple TV native player (MPV player does tone-mapping) MKV direct playback is not supported by Apple TV native player, so direct streaming is required HLS HEVC streaming in Apple devices requires HLS fMP4 Emby Server does not support HLS fMP4 So, HEVC in MKV container is full transcoded using Apple TV native player. I hope it is understood, this is an Emby's limitation not Apple TV.

  39. Hi, I am using the Android app version 3.4.24 and like that you can click on on the director's portrait and see a list of all their movies in my library. What I don't like is that the director is listed last in the cast and crew so you have to scroll all the way to the right past however many people are in the cast before you see them. I would like the director to be listed first in the cast and crew section.
