  1. This thread has really been derailing lately. If you no longer want/see the need for TvNext, cool. Talk about e-book readers or whatever is your fancy in another thread. There is plenty of people who want this to see the light, and that has already been confirmed to be happening. I hate the delay too, however it was confirmed to be happening, and to even get that given plenty of other requests that never have any confirmation is at least something. Cable cards are a relic, yes we as consumers should have a choice however that doesn't mean we will. TvNext (and Emby in general) will try to support what is common for this use case, and that has been demonstrated. Many people are moving to M3U, and even though that has some potential legality concern, you have the option. I use OTA exclusively, and plan to for the foreseeable future. Even better if DRM gets removed from ATSC3, however not holding my breath. Super fast channel changing, proper tuner management, .... are all benefits that anyone using LiveTv will benefit from, period.

  2. New version up on the EmbyIcons - Github. 5.37.0 Changed: Minor improvements. Should be nothing that people will notice but improvements none the less. As always please notify me if any problems what so ever show up and i will look at it asap. Thank you to John Speigel for the coffee! Very much appreciated!!

  4. I still think they're relevant, and what Erik and Luke have been replying to say. It doesn't change anything, just that the delay is much longer than anyone of us would consider reasonable. Not shocked, and of course wanting this to happen ASAP. Just that it doesn't change anything. We wait (and wait...).

  5. Well if its from this forum then you can try, loading it into your plugin folder. But be sure to report issues too where you read about it.

  7. @bungee91You are quoting one answer that is a year and a half old and one that is still over a year old. They are not relevant today. Erik claims he is not vague so he should be able to answer a yes or no question. We'll see, but I won't hold my breath.

  11. As the title suggests, I want to have the subtitle position option put into the Emby for Android app, as it was in the Emby for AndroidTV app. When you are playing media, you can easily go into the settings, subtitles, then choose "Position..." and move it + / - to go up or down on the screen. I use this every single day based on what I am watching, and it's the one thing that is keeping me from moving off the Android TV app, because it's missing in the newer Android app. I really want to move to use the newer Android app but without this feature, I simply can't live without it. 12. I thought the plugin only showed up on the web interface. I'll check it out.

  13. As already explained, Emby is not a streaming service like Netflix. If that's what you came looking for, then unfortunately you've come to the wrong place. You can however, as indicated above - create your own server that you supply with your own media: Quick Start

  14. No, Emby doesn't supply any media. It is server and client software you use organize and watch digital media you already have. https://emby.media/support/articles/Quick-Start.html

  16. They are pretty similar but I think the pascal chip in the 1050 support 12bit hvec decode whereas the Kaby Lake igpu does not. I don't know if hardware accelerated tone mapping is supported on either...maybe someone else can comment. https://developer.nvidia.com/video-encode-and-decode-gpu-support-matrix-new https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Quick_Sync_Video#Hardware_decoding_and_encoding Knowing you OS might be helpful too. Also be aware that the Nvidia GPU has an artificial stream limit. This can be removed with software. The Intel GPU has no such restriction. It comes down to whether you need specific features, want to give up a pci-e slot, and want the extra 20w of idle power draw from the Nvidia GPU. Only you can answer that.

  18. Hi, this will be in the 4.9 server release for the web app, and will be in the next update to many of our apps. It will come in the form of a user setting: And then you will screens like this: Of course it is not guaranteed to be applied everywhere, particularly when it comes to screens that are more intended for media management purposes than viewing. Enjoy.

  19. Hi, the items are being groped by series now. We’ll have to add a param to control this.

  21. Sorry to 'hijack' this somewhat old thread, but would it be possible to change this error message to something a bit more useful to the user. I'm fairly technical person myself, and this error message doesn't give me any useful information on what possibly went wrong or how to fix it. It seems like it's more of a catch-all for any playback errors.

  22. I mean softworkz has a point.... you say: What doesn't work, is using SQLite over NFS (locking issues). It's nothing new. Before I started using Emby, I checked its requirements - there was no stated requirement its data needs to be on a local storage. And indeed, it used to work without many issues in the past. sqlite over nfs doesn't work and its "nothing new" yet you checked the requirements and had to see emby uses sqlite, and already knowing you cant use it on nfs installs, still seem surprised that its "requirements don't mention that data needs to be on local storage". In your buying a car example that's like looking at the sticker for the car, buying it, then bringing it back saying it doesn't fly.... But the sticker doesn't say anything about this car not being able to turn into an airplane and fly... No duh... why would you think that? we never said the car could fly... Just like emby never claimed the DB can be ran over NFS. Has someone done that? maybe... can someone make a car fly, sure.. But that's outside of the scope of how either the car or emby was originally designed. I want a beefier DB like most people on this thread, but the argument you are trying to make isn't valid, emby is made to be installed on a single machine and run for home users. when you do the install for emby server, is there anywhere in the setup that says "would you like to install the DB on a network drive?"? NO, because that's not how its meant to be used. It's a want, I want it to, but we wait until more than a 100 or so hard-core users want the feature.. the other 98% want other things like new live tv features etc.. Those things are higher in priority due to the majority wanting/needing them. I'm sure they will look into a more robust DB soon enough.. and if not.......

  23. I'm just an emby user too, but I don't think it has gained much traction due to emby being geared toward home users at this time.. HA and clusters are generally being requested by people running servers for profit, Not saying that is your reasoning, just that I get the impression they don't want to be tied to those kind of setups at this time... I don't think emby as a company/group is setup or ready to deal with the publicity (good and bad) that comes with those kind of customers. By that logic based on their current customer base and potential for lost users, I don't think its high on their list, and they wont loose many customers by having it low on their list at this time. Again, just personal observations... I would like a standard database as well, just to note lol.

  24. Hi, I'd like to propose the below detailed feature request. I know that there is a podcast plugin, but this prodivdes only channel functionality w/o download and storage options (AFAIK). Basic version: configuration options:list of podcast URLs interval to connect to configured podcast URLs and download new episode path where to store the downloaded episodes functionality:in configured intervals sequentially connect to configured podcast URLsdownload all new episodes and store them in the configured path (PATH/<podcast name>/<some episode name>) store information about downloaded episodes in DB next configured podcast perform maintenance task (whatever is needed) Possible future enhancements: configure podcast name and path on a per-podcast basis individual download schedule per podcast blacklist (reg exp) for not to download episodes purge job (based on episode download date) download and apply meta data export / import podcast lists ... Any thoughts? Thanks. Cheers, Gebhard
