How we can still be waiting for stuff written 5 years ago is beyond me. Was that part of the original roadmap (if any) - write 2020, implement 2026. I doubt it, or have we really had 5 years of unexpected tinkering and fixing bugs.3 points

Basically yes, like you do with a home network. With a travel router you have only that one device associated with and visible to the public network. Your connected devices have their own private LAN.2 points

I love emby, use it every day but my fear is who ever is in charge is such a bad business person that someday I will try to load emby and it won't because their servers will be down for good and all my hard work for the last 5 years will have to be redone in some manner to be used elsewhere, but considering I don't need LiveTV anymore maybe Jellyfin will be fine. It's unfortunate because emby is by far the best but the dev team just can't get above 5 mph.2 points

Hi. The 1.25x playback speed increment can often be a little too fast. There is no way to dial it back a little other than going back to the normal 1.0x speed. Several users have also mentioned this in https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/47559-ability-to-adjust-playback-speed, and expressed an interest in getting additional playback speed increments between 1.0x and 1.25x. However, that post has been marked as completed, hence this new post. It would be great if you could include also 1.10x, 1.15x, and 1.2x playback speed increments. Thank you.2 points

fyi, there is a bug in latest version when updating from an older version. In some cases a (manual) factory reset might be required (if the automatic resync is not working correctly) I'll fix it in next version.2 points

The main thing that would need to change to implement this feature: Client apps need to check for a DNS HTTPS RR or respect server Alt-Svc I would say this is the most important part of the feature request, as anyone who really cares about squeezing the most performance will already be using a reverse proxy like Caddy or NGINX, which have both implemented QUIC already. The "nice to have" feature for people who don't use their own web server (and also probably a ton of work): Built-in web server needs to advertise alpn=h3,h2 and bind to UDP This seems like an inconsequential feature, but it's actually incredibly useful for folks who like to connect to their Emby server far away or over networks with high jitter and packet loss like LTE/5G (increasingly common with 5G FWA becoming mainstream). Connection ID tracking would be even cooler (although AFAIK not completely implemented in .NET as of late), so folks moving between networks don't have their stream drop. I spent some time implementing it for an internal app for live video streams at <job> using quic-go and the performance impact is noticeable and significant on congested networks (and more importantly, not worse than http/2 in low-loss scenarios like a local network). The one thing I was caught on is WebSockets, I'm not sure how much Emby uses WSS (outside of knowing that it uses them), but this feature request is mainly about reducing the amount of time Emby is spending loading the menu or media itself on iffy or otherwise congested networks, so it might be outside of the scope. Unencrypted HTTP is also out of scope, since there's no such thing as unencrypted HTTP/3 (IIRC local connections use IPv4 + HTTP only). I noticed that the Emby Web Client will happily work over HTTP/3 with my Caddy server in front of it, and it even shows up in the Activity dashboard as HTTP/3 when I log in, so I hope that it's a simple change on the rest of the Emby clients (we can all dream). Also happy to help out testing/implementing if it would speed things along.1 point

Not sure if this has been requested yet or not, I did a little searching before posting so forgive me if this has been requested already. A nice feature to have would be something along the lines of a Kids Mode, some changes that i would forsee in this mode are: Simplified Playback (Instead of selecting the item then having to hit the play button just have it so when an item is selected it just plays.) Simplified Menus (Instead of separating Movies and TV (yes i know if i change my libraries i could accomplish this) have it more along the lines of maybe Character selections (i.e. Mickey Mouse) without having to search Move the Series and Movies selection to a main screen (i.e. Currently to browse for a movie you have to select the movie library then select the movies tab.) The option could be, if you wanted movies you can just hit movies, then all of your kids movies are displayed. Infinite scroll (Self explanatory, but the ability to keep scrolling instead of having to hit pages would be helpful for this mode) If anyone else has ideas for this mode feel free to add on. Thanks!1 point

Since i updated my 16 pro max on IOS 26 Beta 6 Dev, when i play something on app, my phone black screen and relaunch. I think its not adapted to this version atm ?1 point

Thanks. Here is a vote for implementing a stack that supports QUIC. This feature of QUIC alone makes it worthwhile for Android Graceful handling of network switch events, for example, when a user transitions from a WiFi network to a cellular data network.1 point

Was an issue with the file itself....actually was 2 files but funny thing is they play fine on other devices without correction. Sorry for the post.1 point

Hi, if you are running the 4.9 beta server, then yes. Images will be attached to the discord notification using your server's remote address. So that means you also need to have remote access setup.1 point

Update: After some internal discussion we're going to move this from user settings to a library option. Thanks guys.1 point

I can't find any way to clear cache, but I've uninstalled (deleted) and reinstalled. On first test it seems fixed, but I'll report back in a few days to confirm1 point

Yes to both. I use it mainly for cataloging, so I can tell which movies I only have in SD or which ones don't have FLAC audio, things like that. It also lets you rate movies and TV shows, which Emby can't do for some reason.1 point

Thanks a lot for your answer. I'll call to my ISP because I don't have access to their equipment.1 point

My tv is a 2023 model & if I were to guess, its just an error & hoping someone will chime in soon to confirm. Being a prt of the OSD makes it much harder & am not even sure why they would it now. Also hoping other issues with the video.quality issue gets resolved.1 point

BTW there is a new Up Next section in the OSD for skipping episodes which is kind of cool, but it probably won't be as easy to use for your daughter. @Luke1 point

Another option could be he did that intentionally and just forgot to remove it on older TVs? Just reading another thread in Android section1 point

Just wanted to mention that the problem is still there. I‘m on beta 8 on my iPad 4th Gen. Two weeks till release of ios 26.1 point

and what are Emby's priorities at this time. Maybe telling paid users what you guys are working on would help instead of the constant shroud of secrecy.1 point

Ah ok, I thought the settings for Emby applied to all configurations. Thanks a lot for the reply1 point

How does one vote for this? I'd like the search to happen only in the library I am in, forced global search doesn't make sense to me; if I'm in a library I expect the search to only happen for items in that library; when I'm at home, then the search should be global. TY!1 point

And why on app auth always throw "access token is invalid or expired"? Login with "connect" only work (Mb error with IPTV cos of it)1 point

Re-Opening Emby Linux BETA Test Group for new Applications OPEN FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY! We are re-opening the testers group for new applicants in order to increase coverage Requirements and procedure to apply remain unchanged (see OP: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/132511-new-emby-for-linux-engineering-demo-call-for-testers/)1 point
-
Probably not the advice the OP or anyone is looking for but here goes: It's bad practice to login to any of your accounts for any service from devices you do not own. If you guard your privacy and security JUST DON'T DO IT. Streaming devices like FireTV, Roku, GoogleTV, etc. are cheap and portable enough to take with you when you travel. You can plug your own device into a hotel TV. Same goes for the network. A travel router is much cheaper than the cost of compromised data or credentials for your accounts. Create your own secure network for your devices including the streamers instead of using any public WiFi at a hotel, Airbnb or resort.1 point

If they can do fast channel change I would be there in a heartbeat to install it. This is getting beyond a joke now something that should have been around the corner it is going to be 3 years since this thread has been created there is no end in sight of this beta. It seems they are actively pushing users away. Beta updates are just seems fixing regression after regression. So I agree with your sentiments for moving away1 point

I switched over a few of my users to Jellyfin today. Going to have them trial it for a few weeks and if all is good I'll be making the switch permanently. I've been an MB user for over 10 years, a vocal supporter who recommended it to everyone I came across, and a huge fan overall. Lately I've lost trust in the dev team, broken promises, no transparency, and no direction. I will be making another post later on, but needless to say I'm pretty much done with Emby at this point.1 point

Plex is Plex. Everyone (who is interested in a media server) has heard of it, it stands out just because of the mass. Also because of the free channels and stuff (it must appeal to some people). Jellyfin is free. Free makes it stand out. Emby might be (well it is) the best, but not when it comes to something outstanding that draws someone in. An all in one needs absolutely nothing else to work properly TV solution might be (possibly) the thing for Emby, if it ever turns up.1 point
-
But how many people would use live TV in Emby if live TV in Emby were awesome?? How many more subscriptions would you get? How much less crap would you have to deal with in the forum for the Premium feature that's not quite so premium? These are relevant questions. Personally, I have a tuner set up. My guide gets updated regularly, and you count me as a user because of that. Correct? But I don't really use it. Because it kinda sucks. I bet there are a lot like me who have it set up and are just waiting for the day that it's good.1 point

This is exactly a cop out. Why? Because it’s a non answer. Zero information on target when 4.9 will be officially out of beta. No updates if 5.0 has even been works on. No dates. Nothing. Just “it will be done when it’s done”. If it wasn’t for the fact I’d paid money for this I’d have moved on. It’s responses like this - to actual paying customers - that support the fact that you guys don’t really care about feedback or wish to provide paying clients with real usable information. If plex has m3u support I’d use that.1 point
-
Right, so that's the difference here. You consider that to be an 'update', whereas everyone else thinks that's a cop out bc when 4.9 will be released is an unknown (its been years sinced you guys originally said it would be an official release and its still beta), and thus your answer is an unknown.1 point
-
Sorry for my short answer last time, i have been incredibly sick the last two weeks so didn't feel like writing more than that answer. Anyway.. It's a feature that has been asked about before but i don't think i will ever make it because i personally don't think it will be a useful addition. The TV show poster already shows if all episodes have a property or not plus adding it to the season posters would add more work to the plugin and it's rather heavy already with all the series/collection aggregation it has to do. Never say never though, it *MIGHT* be added one day. I do have one or two more features i plan to look at when i get well, after that i think the plugin might be feature complete as i have no idea what would be a good addition to it. Thank you for the kinds words!!1 point
-
The thing is this, Luke said 4.9 would be a short beta. And since we’ve got (at least, that have been publicly announced) 2 major items still being worked on for 4.9, it seems pretty certain that there’ll be another 3 months beta at least. My overall conclusion, if I put Luke’s original statement together with today’s reality, is that it doesn’t point to a well controlled development and release process. And one consequence is, poor expectation management and disappointment for the user base.1 point

Is there plans on the roadmap for OpenID. I have searched but not found any indication this is in development. With many admins taking up SSO through Authelia or Authentik to enhance security it would be great for Emby to support it. One of the easier open standards is OpenID which the aforementioned support. Users could continue to use LDAP if they wish while others can use the arguably better SSO experience.1 point

Got hit again today by that. Was while watching a video with opus audio that was transcode since not supported. In the end, I just converted all my video with opus to ac3 to fix it. But still annoying.1 point

Weird. any other processes that have api access maybe. e.g. the software that downloads your linux distos looking at the data returned, i noticed that only users that have an actual username and password have the an attribute username in the session info. so you could filter it maybe like this. sensor: - platform: rest name: Emby Active Sessions unique_id: sensor.emby_active_sessions resource: "http://<embyserver>:<port>/emby/Sessions?ActiveWithinSeconds=<LastActivitySecondsAgo>api_key=<APIKEY>" value_template: "{{ value_json | selectattr('UserName', 'defined') | list | length }}" scan_interval: 30 We could also filter on just the sessions that are currently playing or have paused something. that could look like this: sensor: - platform: rest name: Emby Active Sessions unique_id: sensor.emby_active_sessions resource: "http://<embyserver>:<port>/emby/Sessions?api_key=<APIKEY>" value_template: "{{ value_json | selectattr('NowPlayingItem', 'defined') | list | length }}" scan_interval: 301 point

I still had problems with it and was "forced" to switch to Plex. I didn't have that problem there. Unfortunately, my server setup crashed and I have to set up Emby again (failed raid). I'll let you know if it works then. I also tested it with Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. Same result every time. I'll get back to you on this. LG1 point

Just an update on this. I moved my Emby server to an Beelink T4 Pro which is an Intel Celeron N3350 device. Fully supported for hardware transcoding as opposed to the server I was using before which has a Intel N150 chip. The android downloads seem to work much better now and I'm wondering if this is some kind of linux kernal issue with the N150 and hardware transcoding?1 point

I have not protested, just made statements. Protest defined is: "To express a strong objection". You are doing this. I undestand that you prefer not to see this. That's fine. We will not need to converse again. Enjoy your Sunday.0 points
