Just as a point for the Emby team: This is kind of the opposite of my experience as the regular Android app works for me but is hard for me to use while the older app has some minor problems but is more pleasant to use. I, personally, would like it better if the older app was simply, or not so simply, fixed and the better video player added but that is my preference and others may not agree. @lstryhrn I do not think the issue is really the codec involved but rather something more obtuse. I also own a Fire TV and, on it, I use the new app and everything seems fine but i use my Fire a LOT less than I use my Shield and, with the way Amazon is going, my Fire devices could get retired pretty soon.2 points

Is there plans on the roadmap for OpenID. I have searched but not found any indication this is in development. With many admins taking up SSO through Authelia or Authentik to enhance security it would be great for Emby to support it. One of the easier open standards is OpenID which the aforementioned support. Users could continue to use LDAP if they wish while others can use the arguably better SSO experience.1 point

I have both the Emby app and the 'Emby for Firestick' App installed on my TV. Initialy they both mis-rotated videos taken with my iphone and places on my PC. Currently, the Firestick version is still rotated incorrectly. The other version works fine now.1 point

All the postings on this forum will do no good. Simply follow the instructions @GrimReaper gave you and send an email to billingsupport@emby.media and then do what they tell you. Billing issues are NOT handled through the support forums.1 point

Hi guys ! I just seen Emby 4.8.11 has in the changelog the following line: Improve server network change detection As I've seen this so late (released 3 months ago !) I'm keen to know if some of you tested the network change since update ? I'll test soon and keep you updated of course1 point

The lack of transparency on this subject made me jump to another provider for music. Emby is great for media other than music. This post was created November 1, 2017. And the answer we get from Emby in 2025 is... It is comical at this stage. Just say its not coming or give the community a valid reason why not, I get it you are maybe working hard on other features / fixes, but, you are not dealing drugs here and a little honesty and clarity would have been much appreciated.1 point

Sorry if i have misunderstood you but what i think you mean should be fixed in this version. I had made a bug by mistake in the drawing logic that totally messed it up, that plus the preview in the settings didn't work 100% correctly either. It should all be fixed in this version, if not then please report back. EmbyIcons.dll1 point

Any reason not to prioritize it? Do you need anything? It's really annoying having to constantly monitor and adjust volume when listening to music, and Emby is lagging behind other media centers on this point. "something we can look at in future updates" might as well mean "2 years" or "never", a little transparency would go a long way so users can find alternatives if you're not planning it anyway. Thanks1 point

Just a follow-up to say that I've added several new tracks and they all show up as expected in all of the views in Emby after a clean re-install. It appears that this was indeed some glitch caused by leftover files in the @appdata/EmyServer folder from the old installation, and not a bug. If deleting and reinstalling the package doesn't fix the problem, try manually removing that folder.1 point

As an addendum to this in case anybody else has the same issues I was, what ended up fixing me (going on 8 days now so feel it's fixed) : I had Lidarr running on another docker and when it was updated, it has a setting to sync with MusicBrainz. So every 24 hours, it was going through and resetting all my ID3 tags. What was frustrating was I had it locked on Emby and it still changed ; anyway, love using Emby! Appreciate all ya'll.1 point

I will admit this took me far to long to realize the thread has been split, I thought it was an empty reply glitch. Existing logo bug Pondering this whole topic I absolutely think the first addressable issue is channel logos. The logic seems solid that if a channel name changes a process to delete the now incorrect channel logo should kick in. Ideally this should be real time but even if it is a scheduled housekeeping task that would be a vast improvement. The net result of this deletion is a refreshed logo since Emby already does this when no logo exists. As with all things I am sure there will be edge cases but I suggest that they be the ones that need work around rather than the core users. New Feature - channel level category - parental tag mapping I have not found a definitive source for channel level categories however working on the theory that one exists or that the community/users could create lists we could leverage the Emby tags feature: Tag a channel Block a tag Parental blocking based on tags would be the "minimum viable product" but the logic is elegant; simply apply tags manually or import from a list that maps channels to tags and then restrict based on tag It occurs to me we could take this slightly further and assign an optional Parental rating to a tag. e.g. Assign R18 tag to an Adult or U to Cartoons This this information Emby can follow its existing ratings system for users. Obviously if more than one tag exists the highest rating would be applied. To look at this more I could do with finding programme listings for the sample channel `Smile TV` listed above but I dont see a way other than trial and error via the GUI trying all UK Freeview Emby EPG sources. Do you have a better way behind the scene to find the correct EPG source?1 point

I would just force it to transcode. The TV app is probably doing that but just not giving you a choice about it.1 point

We should import the one based on the library language settings, but I think last I looked at this, ffprobe only produces one title rather than all of them. So it needs to report them all and then Emby can cycle through them and pick the most appropriate one.1 point

I really think this is necessary as over the years I’ve accumulated about 8000+ recordings that until recently they are saved in a .ts container (lately I use ScripterX to convert them (in parallel) to .mkv (for nearly instant FF/REW) and strip all unnecessary tracks and add an AAC stereo track (so I can easily speed up playback). Now I’m converting the old files in the same way but the intro’s are slightly off because of this. (so is comskip) If the intro skip was saved in the .nfo, I could easily strip it out with the same script that is converting the files and then emby would see this (.nfo change) and run into skip accordingly. As it is now intro skip is the most time consuming part of scanning in media (assuming that everything else is saved beside the media (Yes I delay intro skip and .bif file generation for quick scanning) as I have to remove this files from the lib then put them back to get a intro skip rescan.1 point

Very happy paying user of Emby universal app, mainly on my Nvidia Shields, pretty much the only thing that frustrate me is the placing of the director at the very end of the list of actors. Putting it a bit on the edge is that extras are more important to show before the director. As said by others, every other movie app or site have the director easily visible so it can be selected showing other movies directed by the same person. And Emby is not consistent among the platforms as on the Windows server and on the mobile app the director is a separate entity which is selectable. It would be good if this can be picked up again.1 point

i found it thank you - you pointed me in the correct direction. the whole machine had to be rebooted HERE is what I found there is a setting in the BIOS that wants to clear the RAM cache, i disabled it (after searching all over windows and then the only thing left was the BIOS).. and in THIS pc. there is a setting in the CHIPSET that is designed to increase RAM functionality, by clearing the RAM every so often when the PC is not being used... apparently this low level clearing stuns the PC. there is none of the freezing or stalls when clearing the cache in windows, only when the BIOS did it. disabling the feature in the BIOS seemed to solve the issue it has been running just fine for over an hr. when previously it quit after a few minutes of non use.1 point

Kbeck. If you go to each actor / artists page in Imdb, they all have a number or birth - death dates in parenthesis after their name. Each has a different imdb name number in the URL. You can adjust each actor / artist in the movie or TV libraries to change identity to a different Don Wilson by selecting identity and entering either the URL nm number or the complet name with the parenthetical references. I find: Don Wilson (XXXVII) Don Wilson (III) Don Wilson (IV) Don Wilson (1932-2022) Don Wilson (1900-1982) Don Wilson (IX) Also, if you add in one of the above with the extra parenthetical reference as a new actor in a film, Emby should pick up the right person. The fact that it doesn't do everything automatically is sort of the bug to see if it can be fixed. I suspect that the amount of time to look up everyone for a new incoming film or TV show, might have limits and even time out. If the answers are not found within X number of seconds, because the server is slow to access this service, it probably defaults to either an actor's name with no references and can be wrong or perhaps just leave the image blank, because there just wasn't enough Internet speed or demand was high on the imdb or other server at that moment. Maybe some VPN, firewall or remote location, slower Internet combined to cause some lookups to fail. How do you fix that? Some might be part of Internet speed, some part of this could be the identity server putting limits on how many lookups are allowed. I don't know exactly what causes this. I just want to point out that many times a remote lookup does not have anything really to do with the server sending the request, so if that is true, there is no fix, until the remote server offering the content gets more efficient. From Emby's side, perhaps refresh metadata might help, but not if the issue is on the other server. I hope that makes some sense.1 point

Hi. You could create a new profile in CoverArt pointed to that folder that will use a 4K cover for your Series.1 point

Is it possible to have a QR code to scan with your phone when needing to add the PIN for Emby Connect? That way, when you need to login to your Emby Connect, you can just scan that with your phone. Then it takes you to the login page so you can add the PIN it gives you? That would be awesome to do instead of having to type out/copy the entire URL. Thanks for reading. ( I did search if this request already existed and nothing came up).1 point

I read a couple discussion threads and it seems users are breaking a fundamental 'rule' with FreeBSD; do not mix ports and packages. FreeBSD users get themselves into trouble by using both the ports system and the packages system. We call that 'mixing' and it almost always ends up with all sort of issues, ghosts in your box, etc. You have to use only ports, or only packages, but never both. The way to get the best of both worlds is to use a packages building system like Synth or Poudrier. I use Synth. It lets me customize any port options I require, then does all the dependency verification work, and then it build packages right on your machine; and then installs them. It's an amazing system, easy to use, and I have had a 100% error free system since. Just wanted to put that out there. Also the official FreeBSD forum is an an amazing group of people; so if you have issues considering leaning on them too.1 point

Indicator Overlays In addition to all the various treatment styles, all of them can have graphical indicators for details about the item like if it is 3D, what audio and video codecs there are, the video resolution and subtitles. To configure these indicators, go to the Indicator Overlays config page and select the type of overlay (3D, Media Info, Subtitles or Specials). Then select the location of the indicator (which corner of the image) and either None (for no overlay), Internal (for the internally defined style overlay) or Custom (for a custom image you provide). You can even make CoverArt do nothing but put these overlays on your original covers by selecting the "Plain" treatment style and then setting up the indicators that you want.1 point

If you want to keep the movies grouped I don't see a reason why you would need to rescan. The plugin does the same as manually grouping movies, so unless the built-in feature will break any manually grouped movies, too, you will be fine. And in case there are any issues it won't be a problem to add na "ungroup all" option to the plugin.0 points
