This would be an awesome feature to have. A definite must have in my opinion. I hope the EMBY devs put this on priority status. I believe It would hugely benefit users as well as EMBY as a product. Also, and correct me if I am wrong, but a chat server isn't needed really since people watching remotely will be organizing via phone, text, zoom, google meet, facetime, signal, whatsapp, slack, messenger or whatever likely anyway. I know when we do remote movie parties with family and friends we all connect on an app or phone first and often keep a phone call going through the movie to communicate (shouting, talking, etc.). For me, anyway, just a simple way to gather up the people on EMBY and have the host hit play and have all the clients in the party pool play the movie at the same time would be a killer feature. Thank you.2 points

Not knowing specifics of your particular setup - do you have write permissions for second volume? There is not; NFOs are either written/saved next to media or not written at all, everything is contained in db only.2 points

Any change in naming will remove the item from the DB and Readd it, but yes the new scheme you showed is a supported naming scheme and Emby will use the id for its metadata queries. #id-tags-in-folder--file-names | Emby Documentation2 points

I'm a plex life time member, but I have been using Emby for over six years continuously, but there is a feature which I have always thought is missing in Emby which I would like and encourage the developer to consider including especially in this dispensation where families can social or commingle due to COVID 19. Today, I received a notification from Plex about it new feature titled Watch together you can read about it here https://support.plex.tv/articles/watch-together/ The feature allows friends and families at distance to watch same movies together instantly, you simply invite all your buddy, once they signed to the system which can be seeing in the server then play and pause as needed, this I think is cool feature should be added to emby. Let's here your though if Emby developer should consider adding this feature to our beloved Emby Media https://www.bing.com/news/search?q=Plex+Watch+Together&qpvt=plex+watch+together&FORM=EWRE1 point

Guys, The ebook side of Emby/MediaBrowser has been long stalled or rather stagnated. I would like to offer up a couple of suggestions. Many people use calibre as an ebook/comic book tool for scraping data and general management of their collection already. This program is absolutely astonishing in its ability to pull metadata from post calibre scans, as well as draw in metadata from the file source and/or directory structure. http://vaemendis.net/ubooquity/ Its a self contained .jar server/reader combination. And honestly I am very impressed by it's small footprint and wide range of abilities. The other option is COPS , which was written specifically with calibre in mind. It is open source, so making it work with emby I would think would be fairly easy. https://blog.slucas.fr/projects/calibre-opds-php-server/ Ever since the original release of MediaBrowser's bookshelf I have always wanted something that would allow me to 'read' my collection, rather than being basically nothing more than a place-set for images of books I own. I am sure that those who mainly have audiobooks are thrilled with bookshelf , but it's nothing more than an extension of the music library IMHO, not new features. We can have both right? Here I give you two suggestions free of charge.. Just because I love you, and Emby Personally I plan on running the Ubooquity Server along side of Emby from now on, just because of it's massive functionality and tiny footprint. But I sure hope that someone decides -- "yeah, ebook support should be in here too" and do something about it - rather than allow this now very very ancient issue to continue to remain an issue. And so I don't have to have 20 different ports open, some with SSL support - some not, because Emby isn't delivering the 'complete package'. (Please take some of this with humor, I know you have your hands full with improvements/bugs/suggestions/requests)1 point

The real issue is that you are trying to use the parental control system for something for which it really wasn't designed. It isn't designed to be a "smart view". We do have plans to implement such a feature, however.1 point

I somewhat see what you're getting at, and the only way I could think of working around that would be to introduce third Multiple restriction mode, in addition to "either" or "both" modes: let's call it "dependant" for the purpose of this discussion, where tags would be "slaves" of Parental rating and would work/be applicable only within its confines. As it's always easier to give an example: Movie A - PG: Y7 - Tag: family Movie B - PG: Y7 - Tag: cartoon Movie C - PG: R - Tag: family Max. PG allowed: Y7 Tag mode: Allow, allowed tag: family "Either" multiple-restrictions mode: Movies A, B and C are shown "Both" multiple-restrictions mode: only Movie A is shown Obviously, neither gives desired outcome as it would be desirable to show Movie B as well, but not movie C. Currently that is not achievable without either tagging all Y7 items (for "both" mode) or removing "family" tag from all >Y7 items (for "either" mode), both of which require manual intervention. Third mode would be needed, a variation of "either" mode, but taking into account item's Parental rating, where it would be checked if item's Parental rating falls under Max. Y7 and if not, tag is disregarded/item not displayed. Edit: Or we can call it "common sense" mode.1 point

Well, that is certainly helpful as well. Thank very much Luke and Happy2Play. Much appreciated. Thank you.1 point

I used tinyMediaManager with TMDb as the scraper to clean up American History X, and after clearing all tags, the “family” tag came back after the scrape. So even with manual cleanup, external metadata sources can reintroduce misleading tags that affect filtered views in Emby. Maybe the parental controls "could" use better protection against these edge cases; like a way to ignore, strict filters or validate tags based on rating, . Just wanted to put that on your radar in case this kind of thing becomes more common as users lean on external managers. Bulky does not work for folder view as no items show in the list. So I guess we are back to square one.1 point

Another thing is if you check out the devices section then you can see the last used ip address for the device.1 point

It's not currently possible, but even if it were, what makes you think it will help? It looks like your server can't even connect to Tmdb.1 point

From nfo file no but Emby tracks them by providerid so all items with a providerid will maintain their watched status.1 point

Now I just need to edit those movies with audio language taget as undefined But now I can see which it is, as Emby does not have the ability to filter on that1 point

Testing v1.5 Release server 4.8.11 : Testet ok Beta server 4.9.53 : Tested ok Love the new speed bust, and the ability to select mkv, mp4 and other file formats1 point

yeah, it wont remove ENG even with remove country codes, so it must be somewhere in your config to do so. Just so you know i've been trying to fix the m3u processing part to ensure its truly multithreaded, and I have done that but completely broken the output stage, and being an idiot i have gone and saved over my older code, so i have a big job now correcting it again. it will takes some time. However a big m3u with 1/2 million entries is processing in about 5 mins again. I will fix it, it will just take a while.1 point

New release up. Fixed: Settings no longer require a server restart to work. That should be a fully finished plugin for now, can't see anything else being wrong or any more optimizations being made. At least until i come up with more i want it to do.1 point

Nope, it's either save NFOs within media folders or they're not saved/written at all, db only.1 point

User's IP is already shown in Activity list on user login. Ditto for Currently playing box, do you not have it displayed? You can also install Playback Reporting plugin which'll give you all that information (and more); note that it tracks users/sessions only from the time of installation.1 point

Your Dashboard doesn't list your In-Home (LAN) address - do you have multiple NICs in your server machine? Do you have any virtual adapters? Are you using VPN? What does typing ipconfig in cmd tell you? Can you post server log? You can also bind server to a particular local IP in Settings>Network (as per your port forwarding rules, it should be 10.13.18.60). As a sidenote, you don't need to forward UDP 7359 port as that it used only for local server discovery.1 point

The Google TV 4k Streamer (4k) is a decent buy if you want the latest android patch support as well as supporting all the major apps. Might not be so good at Atmos and HDR formats when using apps such as emby…I do have one so can do some testing if you like.1 point

I've downloaded the new release and can confirm from my testing it has been fixed. Thank you1 point

So HDR10 is totally fine, I don't have any HDR10 Plus content to test with within Emby. Same kinda goes for Dolby Vision, plus my projector doesn't support it. The forums are full of people who have been testing and playing back the different DV profiles but I don't remember anyone mentioning Emby as a playback device. As for AV1, I downloaded the CityHall clip from Download video files encoded using Elecard products | Elecard: Video Compression Guru @4k & 18mpbs. It direct played fine, didn't look into how it was being decoded but in Kodi it was using hardware. If there's another clip you'd like me to test just let me know the link. My main driver for buying this one was the Atmos TrueHD passthrough audio support with the HDR formats as a bonus if I ever upgraded.1 point

Hi, It's been more than 2 months so I don't know. I have to check it again but don't know if it's better to do it when I'm back home (in 5 days). Also, since there wasn't any solution, I remember that at the time I ripped 2 additional files (from the same original one) to test but can't remember what I did on order to see if it would make any difference.1 point

I am a new Emby Premiere monthly subscriber, and this is the only feature that Emby does not have that has kept me from considering Emby over Plex! I'll give a like to the thread, but thought it may be valuable to know that this feature has stopped me pulling the trigger for a year at least. I've been a PlexPass subscriber since 2012, and even though I'm still planning to switch to Emby, as it aligns much better with what I want overall, I would love to see this feature. I have family all over the US, and watch parties help keep us connected. Thanks!1 point

This works for the app client. Only the other client apps should also pick up on this (what is a media server? > a server that controls all aspects of (app) clients using the media server, regardless of platform) including CSS, profile settings and media information displays. So tune all apps to what the owner of the server sets (including CSS) in such a way that this can form a nice whole and that every admin can develop his own style. I have said1 point
