  1. I'm a plex life time member, but I have been using Emby for over six years continuously, but there is a feature which I have always thought is missing in Emby which I would like and encourage the developer to consider including especially in this dispensation where families can social or commingle due to COVID 19. Today, I received a notification from Plex about it new feature titled Watch together you can read about it here https://support.plex.tv/articles/watch-together/ The feature allows friends and families at distance to watch same movies together instantly, you simply invite all your buddy, once they signed to the system which can be seeing in the server then play and pause as needed, this I think is cool feature should be added to emby. Let's here your though if Emby developer should consider adding this feature to our beloved Emby Media https://www.bing.com/news/search?q=Plex+Watch+Together&qpvt=plex+watch+together&FORM=EWRE

  2. Could we add a function of "Actor Management"? It should allow browsing all actors by their first letter and managing their corresponding information. Also, it should enable viewing all the movies an actor has participated in here.

  8. The setgid bit (s) forces group ownership inheritance for files and dirs created under that directory. They will have consistent ownership at the group level but it doesn't affect permissions. For permissions the umask still applies and ACLs when defined.

  11. The memory limiter does exactly that. If you check logs it will tell you periodically when this is on how much memory is being used, it will also prevent the CPU going above 80%, if it goes above 80% it will pause and continue when the system drops below 80% to prevent system freezing. For high end systems, it doesn't really make much difference, I have it on and an m3u with over 500,000 entries and it took only 6 mins. It's is more for old,low power, or Nas/docker systems where the system has much less CPU and memory available. It might take a little longer but it should not max out the system anymore. I have no idea why your filesystem is preventing writes, is it full?

  12. Thanks luke, use filename.en.commentary.srt solves my problem. Perhaps the relevant part of the wiki needs to be modified, as its case cannot be reproduced.

  13. that fixed it, thanks @Luke

  14. Yes, thank you for confirming. It seems to be transcoding in general that causes this error. In my case it appears to be every file because the audio generally gets transcoded to match a valid format for the web player, but a handful of files I tried just now were able to play with direct stream for all of audio, video, and subtitles. I'll check again on the next build when it's available, appreciate it!

  15. HI, yes I just realized that myself. It's an issue in the newest build. It will be resolved in the next build. Probably get one up in the morning. Thanks.

  16. In conclusion, I have to do it manually one by one. What a tremendous job I have here.

  17. Hi, there is no way, but if you refresh metadata and check the box to replace existing images, then that should do it. Just be aware that when you do that, your custom images may end up getting replaced.

  19. Hello friend, Thank you for your interest and for your question. Using Folders in lieu of Collections is not an option for the creation of an "Album" of photos for at least seven distinctly challenging reasons: 1) The vast majority of serious photo archives are organized into folders by "date taken" (i.e., year, month, date) and the date upon which a photo is taken is almost never the "theme" for a photo ALBUM, unless the date itself is somehow the primary subject of a collection of photos. 2) The Emby Folder tab in the Home Video & Photo library displays the user's media organization folder structure, which would require the folder structure to be completely reorganized and renamed to act as a substitute for Emby Collections. 3) Suppose a photo album is intended to showcase a particular person, place, or subject matter, then all the photos on that album's theme would have to be gathered together into a single folder. If a photo should happen to showcase more than a single person, place, or subject matter, and one wanted to use the same photo in another album, then all such photos would have to be duplicated and gathered together into any number of additional folders, to achieve the same results that already exist in Collections without any unnecessary duplication. The vast majority of photo archivists abhor duplication for a great many reasons that I will not bother describing here. 4) The grid view of folders has no option or setting to "Group By" media type, so photos and videos are lumped together without any means to tell them apart. The user cannot know whether a media item is a photo or a video unless the media item is selected. I suppose one could use a separate folder for photos and a separate folder for videos; however, in this digital age, an online digital Album of media will fundamentally contain both photos and videos that the vast majority of users would want to browse and play entirely within the same Album, without having to navigate back and forth. The duplication problem in wanting to use the same photo AND video in more than one Album is now completely ridiculous. 5) With the very recent addition of the overview tag in the show fields 3-dot settings customization of grid views, the metadata for photos can finally see the light of day in the Emby Roku app; however, like I said before, the highly customizable, metadata-rich grid view of folders still does not have a "Group By" option, whereas there is a "Group By" option in Collections, should the user want to browse a specific Collection's photos or play the same Collection's videos. 6) The grid view of folders is locked in the horizontal, rectangular shape of a "file folder" icon, regardless of the media type. In contrast, the shape of the media items in Collections have the vertical, movie poster shape that everyone has come to expect from online streaming of video media and from photos taken by mobile phones. This is a minor annoyance that does not really factor into anybody's calculus, except when considering using folders in lieu of Collections for photos. 7) Because photos do not have a details view, the only way to see any photo metadata is in a grid view and this metadata is severely truncated and restricted for many, many very good reasons, that I will not debate. That being said, the only viable alternative method to seeing my photo metadata, given the current state of development in Emby photo libraries, is to manufacture a mini-slideshow video and use an NFO. My hack in converting a series of photos into mini-movies opens the door to the video details page, where I can display as much photo detail in the overview as I want to share, and the user can navigate to other Collections from the video details page. Like I said before, not an optimal solution, but there really is no other viable alternative at present, and may never be. I hope this explanation and these examples answer your question as to why the use of folders is just not a viable alternative to Collections. Cheers!

  21. You can adjust the offset of external subs in some Emby Clients. Here a screen capture from the Emby Windows client. IMHO, external audio will be far more problematic because the slightest bit of offset will show as lip sync issues. I know this is something that drives me crazy. I can't watch movies or shows when the audio isn't 100% in sync with the visuals. Subtitles don't need to have perfect timing but audio does.

  25. There was a brief period a while ago of Luke enabling fast switching, but think it buggered things up for some users.. Would be nice to have that in the meantime as some kind of switchable option (?)

  26. Hi, the equivalent would be to scan library files on the parent folder, but yes I guess it would be handy to have a shortcut for that right there.

  27. Hi, yea we tried several years ago and Samsung rejected the app over this, so that's why it's not included. Perhaps at some point we can try again.

  28. Is this doable by some sort of plugin ? Maybe add your imdb credentials and then be able to rate movies here and have them on imdb as well (not talking about sorting here, just rating stuff)
