Hey @jaspalgillthank you so much for your feedback and contribution! My goal now is to improve and simplify the user experience for Scripter-X, and behind the scenes I am working on some big things. I'm also trying to get the Wiki content written so that it reflects all the important information contained within this forum thread, the wiki is located at https://wiki.scripter-x.au - but is largely incomplete at this stage. I'm working hard though to get this stuff done and can't wait to see the outcome and growth of this project moving forward - I can't believe that from a simple idea, to what it has become today with many, many users, many scripts, many ideas and many contributions - and 5 years (wow, that went fast - I have a 6 year old now), I thank every single person that has helped me with making Scripter-X what it is today. And also, thank you so warmly to those who donate to the project to allow me to take some time away from other work to truly work on this project further. Any ideas, suggestions, comments, all very welcome, and all are taken into consideration. Warm regards, Anthony Musgrove2 points

Hello friend, This request seemed like the impossible dream 3 months ago, but look what has happened since! The Roku UI is more fully functional now than ever. The value and utility of the Roku Emby app has become huge and is distinctly unique among its peers. IMO, Emby is becoming far superior to the smart TV apps offered by Plex, Jellyfin, Roku, or mobile casting Google Photos or Synology Photos, all of which I tried to adapt to a private server, but all of which had fatal flaws. I am looking forward to continuing to participate in the process of the project. Cheers! Ta!2 points

It would be great to have Emby as a music provider for Music Assistant: https://music-assistant.io/ I'm forced to use Jellyfin as a provider for now: https://github.com/orgs/music-assistant/discussions/583 It probably wouldn't take too much effort to adapt the existing Jellyfin provider to the Emby API: https://github.com/music-assistant/server/tree/dev/music_assistant/server/providers/jellyfin1 point

Android Automotive. Not to be confused with Android Auto. "As compared to Android Auto, Android Automotive is a full operating system that can power the entire experience when driving. It’s installed on the head unit available in the cabin, so it’s in charge of everything from the moment you turn on the engine to the one when you leave the car. -AutoEvolution.com" I have Android Automotive in my Polestar 2. And while its not as popular as Android Auto yet, its pretty impressive. Its gaining more traction too. I hear GMC, Cadillac and many others are using it now too. Emby, please add a compatible app for Android Automotive in the google play store. Are there any plans for this?1 point

As I'm transitioning from Volumio and Plex to Emby to centralize my usage to one app, the one thing I'm missing the most is gapless playback. This is particulary annoying when listening to albums like "Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd. I'm experiencing a buffer of about 1 second in between songs, which really ruins the immersion. Would be awesome if this would be implemented in both the Chromecast, and web player.1 point

Hello friend, Thank you for confirming that the media file extension triggers Emby’s response. I have been searching for a way to communicate to my subscribers to our family photo albums all the details about the photos. Unfortunately, photos must be added manually to Collections (I call them Albums) because there is no embedded tag for Collections. Also, photos do not get a Details view and they do not yet (if ever) have a Caption overlay in slideshow mode. All that photo embedded detail has only just recently been available as an Overview Show Field tag in Grid views in the smart TV apps. Until photos get more dev attention time, my hack has been to create mini-slideshows of photos, grouped into my own mini-albums (you call them Collections), create the NFO so the Details can be shared, and upload them to Emby as video. It is not an optimal method for sharing photos, but it works until the FR for photos are looked at. Cheers!1 point

@GrimReaper вы правы, после приведения в формат "Ore dake Level Up na Ken_s02e05.mkv" распарсилось без проблем. Теперь я удивлен, что ранее не столкнулся с этой проблемой. --- Yes, using suggested name format works! Thanks. Seems I need some automation to parse non standart file names and convert it1 point

Looks like for movies they are very static like `clearlogo` and `landscape`, etc.. Same for series at the root level, but then for each episode I have it matching the episode name. I rarely change images on a single episode though.1 point

Thanks Luke! Is stuck in trace and debug logs, and changed a setting inside Emby which I thought I had already changed. (Secure connection mode, was not set to handled by reverse proxy) It seems to be working now, and im getting users showing on dashboard and data in jellystat, other than trace and debug logs I had not gotten around to tweaking the reverse proxy. I was going to check if I needed to push through x-forwarded-for or something similar. When i look through previous days logs I cannot find any POSTS for this user (PlaybackInfo?UserId=b636b0bf0e5840438082725af30ffc81), unless it was from google chrome. But now they are appearing, and I cannot find any of this since the change (GET http://emby_remote_ip/emby/Sessions/Capabilities/Full?X-Emby-Client=Emby for Apple TV) Ill keep an eye on other users and test with fire TV too, and close this ticket after 24 hours Have a great weekend! 2025-04-18 11:16:45.604 Info Server: http/1.1 POST http://emby_remote_ip/emby/Items/193845/PlaybackInfo?UserId=b636b0bf0e5840438082725af30ffc81&StartTimeTicks=0&IsPlayback=false&AutoOpenLiveStream=false&MaxStreamingBitrate=40000000&X-Emby-Client=Emby for Apple TV&X-Emby-Device-Name=Apple TV&X-Emby-Device-Id=C8CB437E-8D2E-483C-85E3-BF53F9951102&X-Emby-Client-Version=1.9.7 (1)&X-Emby-Token=x_secret10_x&reqformat=json. Luke, This appears to be an issue with ffmpeg. I would be good to rebase on the latest and add all the magic Emby sprinkles into it. Hopefully that would resolve it (but certainly not a guarantee). The latest Emby ffmpeg is from 2023 and I'm sure a lot of development has been done since. Alternatively, a more sticky option for the many of us who NEED this setting for Emby to work at all. -Craig1 point

Yeah, my hosts are NUCs with just 1TB NVME local storage, and I've always assumed I would be using them as hypervisors for containers or multi-master VMs such as domain controllers I knew the NASes would be used for bulk, static data (but on SSDs for file transfer performance). (I considered going the iSCSI route even for the VM storage but that would impact all the services too much every time a NAS gets a firmware update and needs at least 1 reboot,) I did, however, notice a difference in indexing performance when Emby Server pointed to the UNC path as opposed to a pass-through mount. The library isn't massive and I've not had any performance issues with playtback or indexing, but I'll bear it in mind, thanks! That's one thing a NUC doesn't have, alas - but it was something I am considering synchronizing between the various instances. I have been mounting the NAS shares as read-only due to a bad experience when a Kodi client wiped all the media a few years ago, I wonder if it's possible to centralize the metadata (and even user playback state information) to a separate read-write share (or database)... that would be neat...1 point

Okay, thanks. I'll enable TMDB. I must've had it enabled in the past and then somehow disabled it, since my other series all have trailers. If I manually run a library scan will that pull the missing trailer links? or will I need to do a full metadata refresh or something? EDIT: Nevermind, "search for missing metadata" did the trick. Thanks!1 point

So yeah.. I couldn't help my self plus i was bored so i updated the plugin. It now has video discovery like "trending" " popular" and so on plus i fixed some stuff, it also checks to see if a video has already been requested as to not make multiple and identical requests. I never got it to work properly with user tracking.. So in some rare instances it might be a little strange there, like when a user not registered in JellySeerr makes a request. This time it will be the last i do to the plugin for sure, so someone else please take over if you want further development. As before.. I'm somewhat a newbie at this, it does work on my side though. Do with it the code what you want, i don't really care. though it would be nice with some credit if you further develop the plugin but absolutely not required! To the Emby team.. I know and understand why you don't want something like this in your apps but.. It would be awfully nice to have something like it though! Maybe open for 3rd party or something so someone else could make it. For people who need the instructions.. Just copy the EmbySeerr.dll into the plugin directory of Emby. EmbySeerr.zip1 point

Just reporting back that the issue did not occur last night. I don't know what the problem was for the previous six weeks. But I now have at least one week where recording completed as scheduled. I'll report back for subsequent weeks if that changes.1 point

Hi, I've scrambled my brain trying to figure out where this plugin project is at...are the community packages still a thing? As I was hoping someone else had tried to do what I wanted but luckily I worked out enough from here to get it working. I run my script as a scheduled task to determine my VPN location (country, city, IP) and send that info as variables to a Pushover event so I can easily keep track of what's going. If anyone is interested I'd be happy to share it but I don't want to fill the forum with my pointless bad scripting!!!1 point

Hey Jan, actually, I figured it out on my own this morning. Someone had mentioned the filters so I took another look at the settings and played around with a few things and now it works just fine. Through your firestick, open the Emby app, click on settings, click on home screen layout. You will see 2 columns, the left hand column is titled: Home Screen Rows (in order). You NEED to have "My Media" (small or large, doesn't matter) as one of the things showing. Back out, let it reset and when you are on the home page scroll down to wherever you put My Media, and you now have access to the full browsing menu! The issue was simply us being used to hitting left to bring up that menu, works a little differently on the firestick app. Hope this helps you!1 point

https://dev.emby.media/reference/RestAPI/HlsSegmentService/deleteVideosActiveencodings.html Not sure of the C# hook to trigger the same call. But that is what you need to do. Requires authentication as user <-- I know it says this but try putting the api_key with it instead and see if that works since it isn't tied to a user.1 point

Short update: my current solution is to create a new user every week on Monday and use that until the end of the week for playback of my videos. That way, the delays are tolerable, but of course this is an inconvenient workaround1 point

Hi. Make sure you don't have a filter set for favorites only in the app.1 point
-
I got so excited about the solution to my question, I forgot to reply to this portion of your post. I do use NFO files only for my metadata. I don't use any scrapers within Emby, I do all of the tagging, images, and collection/sets in TinyMediaManager. I mostly do this because I like to ensure certain TV show episodes are in the correct linear order (Firefly & Dresden Files come to mind). It also is useful for home videos and music videos that have no data that can be scraped.I just fill in all the info that I want and create some artwork. File naming and NFO are taken care of. I started doing this back on Kodi. There were frequent reloads and NFO's made for the fastest scan.1 point

Ok, I found it in the Suggestions tab. I remember Favorites had a separate tab in previous versions. It's useful I think.1 point

I have my cache size set to 10000 and i see no performance hits that can be attributed to any kind of memory overload. I should emphasize that my server has no other tasks but Emby except for DrivePool and TightVNC. I keep my server as clean as i can. It was suggested, some time ago, that I increase my cache, the exact reason escapes me right now, and I experimented with several smaller numbers and had zero problems. I stopped at 10000 simply because it seemed lager enough at 200 times where I started. I've been running with that value for a long time and there is nothing adverse I can report that seems at all related to cache size. Some times I wish Emby had an easy way to view memory usage and cpu load inside Emby. But then I think about it more and I am quite glad they do not as I would, probably, spend much too much time watching the stats instead of watching content.1 point

We chown to allow people to quickly switch the user they want it running as and make sure the config is writable. In any case, I just realized what's going on. You're using PUID and PGID variables, when we want UID and GID, please refer to our documentation: https://hub.docker.com/r/emby/embyserver1 point
