It appears that there's a general misunderstanding of beta releases. It is very normal that there are updates where important things aren't working anymore and it takes multiple releases until it's working again. The goal of publishing beta release is NOT to provide the latest features to users to make them happily use them and just the packaging is somewhat blemished. Instead, this is giving us a chance to try out risky changes or even remove something old to replace it with something new progressively while the old one get dropped instantly without replacement. All these and many more things can happen. In the past, we've often been too careful about bringing cerain things into the beta, just because we knew that some ore using these versions for production - so this has also been a bit of our own fault, making the betas run too well. But in fact, this has delayed and slowed down development in various cases and delayed new features. So, let me be very clear about this: Beta versions are not intended to always work in a useful way. When something doesn't work, then it's most likely due to some work in progress Beta versions include changes which need to get tested It can also be used fror testing multiple methods for something we want to try out, where testing goes over multiple beta releases - and guess what: we would know exactly how to get it working again (e.g. like it did in an earlier state) - but we don't do that because we are testing something and it is a non-gual to provide continuously working betas. This is exactly the kind of freedom that is required: not needing to run for a fix in the next update. There instead, we might try something else which can fail as well. We respond and fix issues in stable versions. That's the software we are publishing. Using beta versions doesn't turn one into a super-geek hero or something. These are made for the many people who are helping us testing new features and changes, dedicating time and passion on this - of course also satrisfying curiosity about the progress of development. Those who are clever are using separate machines or are running betas in parallel to their main (stable) installation.3 points

@LukeCan we get the fix for the Intel problem that the other media center software have? It started out with just Arc cards but now seems like more and more people are having problems even with Intel iGPUs. If a fix from your side could be made, and it does look like it's possible, it would be absolutely wonderful!3 points

Paul - your comments struck a note with me. You also noted Hand Brake acting oddly. I had the same issue after the most recent Intel GPU update. HB failed to render, and I had to deal with that, I was able to fix that by running HB as an Admin. As I mentioned, I have an Intel A770 16GB GPU in my Emby server PC, and an A380 6GB GPU in my secondary PC, and an integrated graphics with the NUC. The NUC hasn't had a graphics update for a long while, and the Emby App is working fine on that unit. The update ran on my Intel A series GPU's was: Intel® Graphics Driver 32.0.101.6557/32.0.101.6262 for Intel® Arc™ B-Series Graphics, Intel® Arc™ A-Series Graphics, Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics, and Intel® Core™ Ultra Processors with Intel® Arc™ Graphics. Version: 32.0.101.6557, Release date: January 29, 2025, Size: 1443.86 MB Prior to the last 2 updates, the were always WHQL Certified, the last 2 were not. So as an experiment, I grabbed the most recent WHQL update: Intel® Graphics Driver 32.0.101.6458/32.0.101.6257 (WHQL Certified) for Intel® Arc™ B-Series Graphics, Intel® Arc™ A-Series Graphics, Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics, and Intel® Core™ Ultra Processors with Intel® Arc™ Graphics. Version: 32.0.101.6458, Release date: January 16, 2025, Size: 1455.15 MB After the install of the WHQL version, the Emby App operates properly, I've checked multiple openings of the app. Also, I no longer need to run Hand Brake as Admin. Going forward, I'm going to look closer at the update notifications, and only update when they are WHQL Certified... Dave2 points

The issue with transcoding in Emby or Jellyfin or direct play stuttering over LAN through my unRAID server seems to have been the TP-Link Tri-Band BE9300 WiFi 7 Router (Archer BE550) Hopefully that sentence helps search indexers point people with the same issue here I grabbed an Eero Max 7 and instantly flawless, although hopefully it stays that way2 points

Well hallaleuha - OMG - probably 10 hrs of learning Linux the hard way and ESPECIALLY WITH YOUR HELP!!!!! Any plans to give us the ability to create custom skins? Not looking for super fancy stuff like Kodi has but most around onscreen layout. Emby's native skin is 'usable' but not the most efficient or intuitive as Kodi's native skin (left side menu, etc)1 point

I would love the option to store Emby's database in MySQL - I have a setup that serves around 30 people and I feel that there would be real performance gains by using a proper relational backend over SQLite (I'm presuming). On top of this it would make life easier for me when reporting on watched status a cross users.1 point

It would great if the Listenbrainz plugin allowed for not just Emby to Listenbrainz sync of liked and played songs, but also Listenbrainz to Emby sync of liked and played songs. Two good reasons for this: - If your emby database gets wiped out, you don't have to go through and re-like your favorite tracks from scratch - If you like something using another server, eg. Gonic, LMS, or Jellyfin, it will get liked in Emby too. The Jellyfin Listenbrainz plugin already has this feature: https://github.com/lyarenei/jellyfin-plugin-listenbrainz It allows you to manually pull down the liked tracks to Jellyfin. But its VERY slow. LMS (subsonic clone) implements liked and played song sync pretty nicely too: https://github.com/epoupon/lms1 point

If a single file .mka with chapters for each track is in a music library album, Emby only shows one song for the whole album, instead of reading the chapters names and times and displaying them as the album's tracks. Please display single file .mka (or .mkv) chapters as individual tracks if they are in a music library album. Example source content: Remuxed Pure Audio Blu-rays1 point

The Emby team hopes you and yours are enjoying a Happy Holiday Season. We would like to announce a couple of changes that will hopefully increase the value of Emby in all of your households. First, to aid in the transition from our old TV-only Android TV app to the new Standard Android app on that platform, we will be eliminating the need for the app unlock by allowing free playback for up to five TV devices per Emby Server. Devices beyond that limit will require Emby Premiere. Previously purchased unlocks will still be honored. This should allow most households to move to the new app more easily. Second, recognizing that today's households have more and more devices, we are increasing our standard Emby Premiere License device limit from 25 to 30. We will then also increase the extended premiere plans from 45 to 50 and 75 to 80. Existing extended subscriptions will remain the same but new ones will be at these new levels. All standard licenses will be automatically updated to the new 30 device limit immediately. You should see all of these changes rolling out over the next week or so. Happy Holidays from the Emby Team!1 point

I'm finally getting around to ripping some of my Criterion DVDs to my media server and adding them to Emby properly. (Each movie in its own folder with an Extras folder.) But I've run into a problem with audio tracks. Many Criterion discs have commentary tracks and sometimes multiple commentaries. Armageddon has two, The Big Boss has 4. I found that I can name the tracks with MKVToolNix, and in the browser and Windows apps that works fine. But in the Roku app, which is where we do most of our viewing, it doesn't show the track names. Please fix this, my wife is already tired of listening to me complain about it.1 point

Thanks so much, Luke. I really do appreciate all of the work you all put into things. I do know that premier users help encourage development. With a limited budget, I plan to wait to see what features are added to Emby moving forward that will benefit me to justify the cost. But I truly do appreciate how responsive you all are on the forums and the product I know you are working hard to put out.1 point

Hi, I would like to make a request / suggestion for the play screen Since many of the audiobooks are in single chapter format, you have a track often 8 hours or longer. Is it possible to get a second set of forward / back ward button. Many of the Audiobook players I have used so far have this feature and it is quite handy. One set for fine-tuning. and one set for faster moving forward / backward ....... 5 minutes at a time (I usually have it set to 10 minutes depending on the chapter lengths.1 point

I'm not saying it's ok, but that's what beta testing is about and for. Things aren't going to work, other things break. It's designed so that when it goes stable, non beta users shouldn't have any issues with the changes1 point

Perhaps you are right. Including a single episode as part of a collection (in this case, my "Christmas Collection") would probably not be utilized by enough users to make it worth all the programming effort it would require to implement. It was just something that occurred to me as I was organizing my Collections. This is just a small detail, and it is certainly not a "fatal flaw". I suppose most users would not even notice, much less have the motivation to search for & edit new images. I just happen to be particularly compulsive (both a blessing & a curse). One of the advantages of Emby is that it works pretty well "right out of the box", with many automatic features that simplify the library management process. For most users I imagine this is more than sufficient. However, this is a public forum & I may get lucky, and find that there are enough others out there who might appreciate this to justify the effort (but I won't hold my breath until then).1 point

Du musst es nicht kaufen, sondern entweder eine aktuellere Version installieren oder einen aktuelleren Schlüssel eintragen. Was eben zuerst auftritt.1 point

But where would such a poster image come from for a single episode? It sounds more like what you really want is to use the Series primary image in those locations.1 point

MfG ----------------------- @Luke I've now started using MakeMKV to convert some DVDs to .mkv. Really cool program, thanks for the tip. The DVD.mkv also runs great in the EmbyDream plugin. One question by the way, the program is only available for a limited time, I can't find out how much it costs if I want to buy it. Do you know what the price is? Best regards1 point

I confirmed that it doesn't play, i just did try to trigger the crash again however couldn't get it with the 30 second or any of the others in the same season that do it. It was odd last time only reason i noticed it was the webui died and was unreachable for the 5 seconds while i was trying to check the logs and when it came back i saw that it has reset the times in the log and you can see the startup.1 point

You have to use -o for the options from a command line, like your original one. The -o argument is not used in the fstab. If you make changes to the fstab the easiest thing to do is reboot to be sure any modifications take effect. Then you can run mount command by itself to show what's mounted and what options were used.1 point

Hi. We thank you for participating in beta testing for the server. It should not be unexpected for issues to occur with pre-release versions. [my emphasis] That is not a fair statement. It may be fair to say that you may not have been able to take advantage of some of the upgrades (although I imagine you actually have just not some of the features you want). For everyone that uses Live TV, it is a big deal, but it is true that this is a minority of our users and the things we are working on for 4.9 will impact most Emby users and they have been slated for a long time as well.1 point

I give a vote for also including movies/Tv-shows, if possible. As a non native speaker of Egnlish, and subtitles isn't always available, getting things texted helps a lot. And maybe also translation could be possible one day.1 point

Doesnt the library manager have options to look for missing things like images and what not. I built my own plugin to match items that emby doesnt find or that I reset using trakt, so it pulls all the unmatched items in emby, then uses the folder/file name to search trakt and pulls back what it thinks is the best option, and then if the score is greater than the confidence level I select it will auto select the "associate media" button, and then I can just press "Match Items" and it will issue the match for emby refresh meta, and pull images. So ultimately yes I believe using the library rest/sdk you could probably do what you want. Find items with missing data, loop them issue the metarefresh for those specefic items.1 point

The Roku app has the same issue. Cramming it onto one line would be fine with me, as long as there's not a length limit on the line. But I have a fourth option: If there's a name, display the name; if not, display whatever that other thing is called that says something like "English ACC mono".1 point

Also, I just double-checked my mkv files, and there's no metadata present other than basic DVD info captured by MakeMKV; so all the metadata being used in Emby has to be coming from IMDb and TheMovieDb. At work, I own--as in design, build, and maintain--a data warehouse where I store the company's Active Directory content, and the database provides some fairly powerful content retrieval functionality. Granted, my coding environment probably doesn't match your guys', but I'd gladly assist with feature in Emby if you guys'd like, e.g. help upgrade Emby's search capabilities?1 point
