Agreed. This is currently the only way to reference the items and it's frankly a bit of a hack as you are not supposed to reference items within the same emby library/channel - thus the duplicates. A few of my scripts (recommendations etc) did the same thing - but they all fall foul of the same issue - duplicate items in search/continue watching etc as you have highlighted. I'm very much hoping that a new 'reference/pointer' method without duplicate problems is being created for the 'smart views' that is coming in this release - otherwise smart views is going to have the same issues .. making it no better than 3rd party efforts. Fingers crossed..2 points

It is really cool that Emby has the ability to support multiple versions of the same movie. It would be nice to have a setting on the client side to allow the user to set which version should be selected by default. This could be as simple a user-entered string, or it could be a list of detected strings to choose from. It could allow multiple entries and it would choose them in the order entered. On the Kodi side, it would also be nice to get the "Choose the Best Version for Me" option that the Emby app has.1 point

Is it possible to have a banner on the front page, and/or popup to announce maintence going on with the MediaBrowser service. It would be nice to be able to announce a maintenance to family and my kids who are at their moms. Anyone else think this would be neat? thanks!1 point

I just realized about the new Windows app and looks great, but like the Android app it doesn't have WavPack support, my DSD collection is in this format, it would be great to play them using the new Windows app. Emby for Windows is amazing! Thanks.1 point

If it doesn't happen when playing recorded TV, then we can only look into this deeper when starting the TVnext beta as we will have closer stream control and anaylsis abilities - plus different playback - than right now.1 point

Done. Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks a lot for the files. They will play with the next update (with server transcoding).1 point

Not everyone shares your 21st century entitled impatience; to be blunt - it will put some people (but hopefully not the developers) off. This forum is the support channel for Emby. The developers and other support staff are here and will try to help. Other users will commonly chip in to help reduce the load on the devs. Note that Emby is not a large company like Plex (to pick a random example!) - they are a modest group who are working to share their enthusiasm for their efforts with us, the users. While viewing a typed password is handy, it certainly should not be a default setting, I'm sure you'll agree - but unless you are using a ridiculous password, you should be able to type carefully enough to be sure you're getting it right sufficiently often to be able to check things out. The first thing I would ask is whether you are using Emby Connect or not. It is not unknown for people to get mixed up which login (Connect or direct) they are using. Paul1 point

So ask a direct question providing all the details asked for in the post at the top of the forums about "How to report a problem" and give all the details you can. I will assure you that this forum is not run by "third parties" and the developers are directly involved here. But you must provide enough details so they can answer in helpful ways. Also I strongly suggest that starting off with a phrase like "Damn I hate forums." is not a good way to get good polite responses.1 point

Not the Windows media player but the Windows Media APIs. The simple reason is that MPV doesn't run on Xbox, only Windows Media is working there, so we could cover both with a single implementation.1 point

I am going to say no but only have iPhone to test with as OP mentioned and image shows getting the scroll arrows I don't get on the touch screen. Even tested in all display modes Auto/Desktop/Mobile-Tablet/TV iOS 2.2.341 point

I followed all the suggestions. But they did not correct AC4 5.1 a/v out-of-sync issue. But, there must be other factors at play. Here is what I just observed for ATSC 3.0 HEVC channels & AC4 audio: Channels broadcasting in AC4 2.0 / stereo audio/video are in-sync. Some channels broadcasting in AC4 5.1 audio/video are ALSO in sync, specifically CW / WPIX-HD channel 111.1 in NYC. 'Stats for nerds' says it's 5.1 audio, but can those actually be 2.0 streams masquerading as 5.1? Because... Other channels broadcasting in AC4 5.1 audio/video are not in sync, specifically WABC-HD channel 107.1 in NYC. HOWEVER why I say the above is... I can be watching something that has out-of-sync a/v, then a commercial break comes and the a/v is completely in-sync (is that commercial actually stereo audio?). Then the next commercial(s) may be in-sync or out-of-sync, it goes back and forth. The program returns from commercial break and its fully out-of-sync again. I took screenshots of the "stats for nerds" to illustrate any difference in the signal from WPIX-HD vs WABC-HD. However other than a 1mpbs difference in the bitrate all other stats are identical. So saving the vertical space of this thread. But if you want I'll follow-up with them. If you know of anything I can use to capture meaningful stats of the streams that may indicate the reasons for the selective a/v sync'ing issue let me know and I'll get that to you.1 point

Gave it another try with the update today and it appears to have been solved, thanks! Also checked a couple of other anime's and they all appear to give the correct sized subtitles.1 point

I am having this issue just in the last 3-4 days. It happens on my server (but not my hubby's with the same Roku TVs), and I am getting it remotely from my family member who is using chrome. The issue is that I am watching a playlist, or even just several episodes of a show and the screen goes black and hangs. You can't do anything but exit Emby at that point as it is unresponsive. Just thought I would add to everyone else's reports.1 point

My initial problem seems to be fixed in the latest beta build (I'm using 4.9.0.37 beta) of Emby, with M3U tuner 1.0.38.0. Thanks! A lxs hispanohablantes en este hilo: Parece que mi problema inicial se solucionó en la última versión beta (estoy usando la versión 4.9.0.37 beta) de Emby, con M3U tuner 1.0.38.0. ¡Gracias!1 point

I've resolved the issue. In emby network settings I disabled upnp for port forwarding, then in my router I went to port forwarding and specified the service type as http, and forwarded the port. I can now access remotely and with my dynamic dns provided by my router I'm able to connect using a URL instead of ip.1 point

They don't. At least not in my experience in the exact same situation as the OP. (A310 on Proxmox using kernel 6.11.) The only thing that worked was 6.5.1 point

Yes, this is normal if the app keeps running in the background. @Felix8217, how do you 'exit the app'? Are you just pressing back to get to the ATV Home screen, or do you open the app switcher and 'swipe-up' to close the app?1 point

https://emby.media/support/articles/Music-Naming.html I use this extensively for both Artists and Album Artists, so yes, Emby handles it properly according to their documentation.1 point

NordVPN is not in any way related to your problem; it is never necessary, and only of possible interest when you have remote connections. Installing it without knowing what it can do for you will only cause confusion. You've been told that the problem is likely down to your going back a version. Either reinstall the current beta and take it from there, or wipe the installation and reinstall the stable version. If you then still have a problem accessing Emby on localhost, then we have a better chance of fixing it. Paul1 point

The concept on shortlisting/virtual library of items is not new, be it via strm files (links to existing items) or os level symlinks - they both have the duplicate problem (in the same library/search) and are ultimately a 'hack' on functionality. Many (including myself) are waiting for the smart playlist feature to create these virtual libraries - this has been marked for release in this beta cycle (4.9) Unless it's very urgent, I would personally wait for this to see what it can deliver, but there is no ETA unfortunately.1 point

@NinkoSorry for the long delay. I wanted to think about your question for a few days. First, the Emby team created a server with a built-in interface for a TV guide. Unfortunately, all of the Emby clients were not updated to support playing video from a TV guide. For example, they always play media from the beginning, rather than the starting point of that media in the TV guide. Nore, did they automatically play the next program in the TV guide when the currently playing video finished. To help uses create plugins to provide Emby with a GUI for creating an EPG, @Luke created a sample plugin. @pünktchenmodified that plugin in many ways to create the first virtualTV plugin. More importantly, he invented a clever way to solve the problems mentioned above. Admittedly, his solution is just a patch, but it does work. His efforts made it practical to build a useful TV platform. Without his contributions pseudoTV would not exist. I am a latecomer to this area. I took the plugin from @Luke and knowledge from @pünktchenand built pseudoTV. It differs from virtualTV mostly in goals, and design philosophy. VirtualTV is a closed source plugin that is very mature and debugged. It's easy for people to use and @pünktchenprovides excellent service. In contrast, pseudoTV is an open-source project, that takes contributions from everyone, and it is aimed at learning new techniques and testing new GUIs, trying to find what works best. So, there have been many code bases. And much of the design has come from users. Consequently, the code is not as stable as virtualTV. But it is making progress. I believe the GUI is getting excellent, and many features have been added to the TV platform. All of the pseudoTV code is free to everyone, and I am happy to help all comers. My goals are having fun, helping others, and learning something new every day. Vic1 point

Let me clear things up a bit: The old Emby Theater had an old MPV version built upon our custom ffmpeg, which in turn has an experimental AC4 decoder. The new Emby for Windows app uses a stock MPV version which doesn't have that. That is because our custom ffmpeg doesn't fit with the latest MPV player versions and the best and latest video playback is a by far higher priority. Once we have updated our ffmpeg,. we'll be able to ship the latest mpv built on our ffmpeg like before. The next after the next update for Emby Windows will indicate that it doesn't support AC4, so the server will transcode without that you'll need to fiddle quality or other settings. It's "next after next" because the version which is still pending publication by the store doesn't have that. But the next one will and it will be pushed shortly after the next release. Thanks1 point

No more downloading user samples from questionable file hosters asking for payment or to wait hours for download completion... Thanks a lot for the sample. It turns out that there was an issue in the new Windows app. Usually videos with ASS subtitles have the fonts embedded, and those cases have been primarily tested. In case of your file, the font that is used (Swiss721 or so) is not included but installed with Windows and the new app didn't pick up that font properly. It's fixed for the next update - actually one after the one which is currently in store certification. Thanks again!1 point

This is nice for the webclient, but doesn't seem to show up on the android or firetv clients. Is there anything we can do CSS wise to also show things on these clients?1 point
