I was in the beta test and like this way of shuffling. I can see what's playing and wonder what's next love it. This is true shuffling, where you have no clue what's next.3 points

Update The latest beta of the Emby Windows app (2.211.0) should fix AC-4 playback (by having the server transcode it). You need to be in the beta group to try it. If all goes well, it will be in the next update for the Windows app.2 points

@NinkoSorry for the long delay. I wanted to think about your question for a few days. First, the Emby team created a server with a built-in interface for a TV guide. Unfortunately, all of the Emby clients were not updated to support playing video from a TV guide. For example, they always play media from the beginning, rather than the starting point of that media in the TV guide. Nore, did they automatically play the next program in the TV guide when the currently playing video finished. To help uses create plugins to provide Emby with a GUI for creating an EPG, @Luke created a sample plugin. @pünktchenmodified that plugin in many ways to create the first virtualTV plugin. More importantly, he invented a clever way to solve the problems mentioned above. Admittedly, his solution is just a patch, but it does work. His efforts made it practical to build a useful TV platform. Without his contributions pseudoTV would not exist. I am a latecomer to this area. I took the plugin from @Luke and knowledge from @pünktchenand built pseudoTV. It differs from virtualTV mostly in goals, and design philosophy. VirtualTV is a closed source plugin that is very mature and debugged. It's easy for people to use and @pünktchenprovides excellent service. In contrast, pseudoTV is an open-source project, that takes contributions from everyone, and it is aimed at learning new techniques and testing new GUIs, trying to find what works best. So, there have been many code bases. And much of the design has come from users. Consequently, the code is not as stable as virtualTV. But it is making progress. I believe the GUI is getting excellent, and many features have been added to the TV platform. All of the pseudoTV code is free to everyone, and I am happy to help all comers. My goals are having fun, helping others, and learning something new every day. Vic2 points

Any progress with this feature? Crossfade between songs has been a huge need for ages.2 points

Pretty simple suggestion. I have multiple users for my Emby server. If I want to do continuous maintenance on the media, I have to tell everyone. some of them are harder to reach than others ( i.e. no Facebook or Skype chat etc. ) It would be great if say... on the admin panel, I could hit a check box that enables 'maintenance mode', where the server still runs does everything as normal, but instead of the login screen it displays a maintenance page saying the server is unavailable. Even better if I were able to directly put a reason in a text box that would then display on the login screen as well. Not really sure what others would think of this, but for me it would be quite helpful. mostly if I want to make sure no one is trying to access content I know won't work until I've done a full library scan again. Thanks for reading. -Kyle1 point

I saw a very old thread requesting this and feel it needs a revisit. It would be great if, when playing music, you could set a duration for song crossfading,1 point

He has been closely involved, we have a private conversation going over many pages. All of his suggestions have been implemented with the exception of two and those two have only been postponed to better understand the use cases and to get an idea how to expose them as easy-to-use and easy-to-understand options. There's a difference between providing an app which is working reliably and satisfactory - and most importantly: right out of the box - for x-thousands of users and - on the other side - trying out the latest patches to a 3rd party component, that haven't even yet been included in that component or aren't yet included in the latest stable release of that component. The latest stable release of MPV player is 0.39 and that's exactly the version we have in the Emby app. You need to understand that it can only happen during beta phases where users call out for a feature and we add that for testing in a subsequent beta version. This cannot happen during non-beta periods. And circling back to @generiq- he has been of great help and we are very thankful for his input. I hope we'll be able to repeat the same kind of collaboration during the next beta phase. At the end of the last beta phase I had asked him two times whether there's anything important that we should add but he was good with the state we had. Also consider that this is the first version with an entirely new implementation and player integration and I think we have gone way beyond of what such kind of "1.0" implementations would typically offer. We are determined to improve the app in the future, but not in a way that people call out for a change and it will be implemented the next week, putting functionality for all other users at risk. Thanks for your understanding.1 point

I'll give it a shot with the next viewing. May not necessarily be a solution in the classical sense but I'll accept it as a workaround, especially since I'm the only user of this server anyway. Thanks!1 point

That is bad news. Please do the same before - raw log file + wireshark or tcpdump if linux of both emby server and vlc for same stream and send privately1 point

True as that is just an example as it carries over to home page also but personally think this notice should exist at login also. Something like the bottom one across every page would work. But everyone will have their own wishes on what this should be as all Emby can possibly provide is something to post before that fact not something while your downtime is actually happening.1 point

Thank you for adding this to version 3.4.28, in case I have any issues I will create a separate topic. Don't forget to mark it as completed.1 point

Yes/No you can delete any collection you like but you will probably have to lock the items metadata afterward so if ever refreshed it does not recreate the deleted collection. But dependent on library settings if you are getting this info from provider.1 point

I just wanted to say thank you. once the SMB share had been restored I then restored the backup and the played state of all the media was recovered. Thanks very much.1 point

Hi. Build into what? If the server is not running... This is why a separate solution is maybe a much better one in this case.1 point

I am working with @rcutandato get wireshark capture of the 403 on emby and successful stream with vlc and will liaise with the development team1 point

ya that I talk few days back, even 30 devices in 2025 is really limited, when is bigger family like I has. pay monthly is sane when you not selling but use for family only. all this is only for make more money nothing else. emby is really good and must say is fast then Plex but this limitation is killing it. also what firestick again its still count to devices or not. yes there is 2 version emby for fire tv and emby for android it is both count it or just one of them? seriously if will 50+ devices on lifetime for of course good price will much better. who selling it then will need like now more then 80 devices anyway that you can keep on monthly if they wish. that will make more sense1 point

Emby has been running on an Intel NUC Windows 10 for 6 years, no problems! But this is a serious problem for me! There are many people who have the same problem going back to the previous version, this has made me delete my entire m3u list and lose config, logos, epg, everything! Due to an error when updating the plugins, I ask that in future updates it is verified that everything works well! The problem is in Emby.1 point

Hi, I have the same problem, and several friends with emby also have it. Can you go back to version 1.0.34 while you fix the problem? Thanks1 point

Migrated to Linux and used caddy. Had some issues to begin with but when I used localhost instead of my ip in the caddyfile it worked. Possibly an ip issue caused the problems with nginx. Thank you all for your time.1 point

Actually, you can do this for IPTV tuners and HDHomeRuns. Luke added a field to the bottom of the m3u tuner setup page: The tag(s) entered here will get added to every channel in the playlist in addition to any groups/tags a channel may have in the playlist. You can even load a HDHomeRun this way as well: Since a 2022 firmware update you can retrieve a m3u playlist from a HDHomeRun like this: http://hdhomerun.local/lineup.m3u I like to save it as a file, then add my own groups (Local, News, Sports, Kids, Music, etc) to the playlist for even better channel selection.1 point

Happy to help. In the interim I’ve unchecked Truehd bitstreaming in the new theatre as a solution switching to PCM. The only downside is the atmos stream is stripped out but only one of our theatres has an atmos setup and we can always use MPV or the old Emby Theater with the fixed MPV as an external player. The fixed ffmpeg for a custom MPV build is at the link above. Hope it can find its way into the next beta. Can any of the new theatre files be overwritten with the fixed MPV.exe? There isn’t a MPV DLL file. I couldn’t find the directory where they are installed and similar file names.1 point

Happy you like it, but I guess that PMM/Kometa lost a lot of interest to the Trakt & MDB List Maker, as both scripts do a great job on their own, so I highly doubt that anyone else will join. As I'm unfamiliar with Pycharm and Git updates, and I don't want to take full care of the Emby integration, I decided to upload my current version (including my config as example). https://we.tl/t-dpx1STyJ9h <- valid for 7 days, contains Kometa for Emby + my basic overlay plugin. Within the Kometa config, select png as file format for the overlays, it will export transparent pngs. For the server plugin, chose the folder with the exported overlay pngs. Will only refresh overlays after you click save. Needs a dummy Plex server configured. I think I'll post the link at the Kometa feature request post, maybe my version can help speed up a proper integration.1 point

HI @softworkzplease don't mis-quote. My comment is directed at the fundamental weakness of Emby support for music in general. See my 1.9k posts "You have been part of the beta and during all the time you had never said anything about audio playback" I am sure you didn't mean that statement as harsh as I read it.. The lack of replay gain support is/was a showstopper, given the fundamental flaws in Emby Music. Thanks for fixing DTS-HD passthrough in last release.. As reported and not responded to 10/31/24.1 point

Hi @Lukemost definitely! I haven't found the root cause yet but both @ebr and @rbjtech have helped identify that it's not an Emby issue and pointed me in the right direction with my network. I can't put the time in to find the cause for a couple of weeks, but when I get to the bottom of it, I'll post it up. Chris1 point

Oh Well, Just another excuse for an abysmal Music implementation. Having used an UWP windows Emby app for years. I know it is not a platform limitation. I have come to the conclusions... 1) The Emby Team does not have an understanding of Music as a media type 2) Or Worse doesn't really care1 point

Let me clear things up a bit: The old Emby Theater had an old MPV version built upon our custom ffmpeg, which in turn has an experimental AC4 decoder. The new Emby for Windows app uses a stock MPV version which doesn't have that. That is because our custom ffmpeg doesn't fit with the latest MPV player versions and the best and latest video playback is a by far higher priority. Once we have updated our ffmpeg,. we'll be able to ship the latest mpv built on our ffmpeg like before. The next after the next update for Emby Windows will indicate that it doesn't support AC4, so the server will transcode without that you'll need to fiddle quality or other settings. It's "next after next" because the version which is still pending publication by the store doesn't have that. But the next one will and it will be pushed shortly after the next release. Thanks1 point

This mostly happens when one user stops watching LiveTV altogether and another user goes to watch LiveTV from the same m3u. The server dashboard shows nobody streaming LiveTV but the m3u limit reached message still appears. I have switched all my TVs from the Android TV app to the Android app. I was unaware the Android TV app was deprecated. I haven't been able to recreate the issue since then, but if I am able to I will fill out the media playback issue information and get back to you. Thanks!1 point

Many times when my server has gone down for maintenance it was down-down, and emby wasn't running and wouldn't be able to send a down for maintenance notification. Would it be better to have a system where you can post a scheduled maintenance warning something like a week a head of time, where user clients get a small notice a head of time and when the scheduled time nears it gives a warning that the server may be going down soon, then if the client can't reach the server during the posted maintenance time it gives a notice of how long the maintenance was posted as being (with an option to retry connecting anyways), and the message goes away when the client reconnects after the maintenance period is over? That would be easier then setting up a way to "park" your domain or ip address with a global maintenance notice.1 point

People who come here from that website that sells Embyshares needs to get banned. Anytime someone says they are using "Jupiter" or "Neptune" server should equal an immediate ban. Time for playing games is over. Their customers not ours. Get rid of them. People who defend this behavior should also get warnings and banned. Respect the service or do not use it.1 point

I can not stress this enough, when creating a new docker Emby server in unRaid. If you are using the official Emby Docker emby/embyserver:latest or emby/embyserver:beta. But if you use some of the other docker out there, be sure to check. You need to change UID to 99 and GID to 100. Other wise you will end up with permission problems. Below picture default Emby Server template. Below with the needed changes.1 point

Spin up channels dvr on docker. Link your youtube tv to TVE then copy the m3u url and then the Epg url into emby live tv0 points
