The sooner you accept that Emby isn't going to deliver the experience you want for audiobooks, ebooks, music, photos, or anything beside movies and tv the better off you'll be. I get the appeal of having everything in a single app/service but there are just too many compromises that need to be made to fit everything in. Not to mention the finite amount of development resources to do it. I host my audiobook and ebooks separately with AudioBookShelf and the speed and focus of development is light years ahead to the point that if Emby dedicated all their attention to audiobooks for the next year it still wouldn't catch up. The same goes for music as well but with music the alternatives are less clear. IMO the commercial services are just too good to justify hosting your own music so their isn't a market for it. If the commerical services ever switch to exclusive rights this will change though. Immich is my choice for photos. Emby does Movie and TV well. I gave up expecting anything more and at this point I see any other media types as a development distraction getting in the way of TV and Movie improvements that we have been begging for.

you should add a screen when emby opens on the tv asking which user is watching for environments where multiple users share the tv as manually browsing to switch user will not get users and you have to manually select what that user watched and select unwatched as you have not gotten to watch it yet. Doing that is too much work for most people they are just going to open the app and start using it.

I would like to be able to disable the chapter placeholders on my Shield TV. I have not enabled chapter thumbnails in either my TV or Movie libraries and when I look at a film or episode (before playing), on the server (windows), a windows desktop, tv (Samsung smart tv) or my phone (android) I just see Movie Info Episode Info Cast & Crew More from season ... More Like This Cast & Crew Media Info Media Info However in Emby for Android TV I also have a block of Chapter placeholders - can I / how do I remove these from the film/episode screens?

All this does when setting on your server as shown is overriding the global limit for this user from 300 down to 30. The max bitrate of ~6 shown below is from from the bandwidth detection between the client and your server. To overcome this limit your user has to set a higher bitrate on their end in the app playback settings for their session. Edit: The Auto setting on the client is unreliable, many would say it's broken and a hindrance.

While the recent addition of "Group By..." in Collections is a welcome addition, it falls a bit short of the requested feature, linked here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/112513-feature-request-group-medialibrary-types-in-collections/ The request was to be able to group collections by Library type. What was implemented is grouping by media type. In the case of my Harry Potter collection, that means that audiobooks and soundtracks are still mixed together, since they are all CDs. If grouping were done by Library type, these could be segregated as well.

All good This is a very common complaint about the Samsung app and there are numerous posts on the subject. It's notoriously bad when converting HD audio and PGS subs and the higher the bitrate of the video the worse the problem. Preselecting a compatible audio and subtitle track (if there are any) will always give you a better experience (better bitrate, etc) I'm hardwired with everything 2ft away from each other and I can't convert audio and PGS subs on the fly without it constantly buffering. Any other client I have no issues.

Just confirmed it's changing speed now, maybe the server restart indeed helped. Tomorrow I'll try to locate one of the files that presented the problem.

How precisely does it work? Does it work like it does now or is there some detection involved? Because here in Denmark connections are in general very good and 12 mpbs is nothing. Not a complaint, i really am happy that we are getting work done on this and please keep up the good work! Would love for the default to be able to be set from the server, that shouldn't be impossible to do. Client gets a number from server that it sets as default, people can still set their own quality setting in the client to override it.

Since you are on Windows I would spin up a portable install, change Emby ports, and create a test library and see if the same happens. I have not been able to create a playlist and have it just disappear or come back empty. But if Emby is actual doing this it should be in the server log.

On supported devices the remote quality setting is now split into two values - remote and remote (cellular). The remote connection default has been bumped up to 12 mbps. The remote (cellular) default is 1 mbps.

I see in the 4.9.0.33 beta changelog mention of Increase remote quality default value Are you able to provide any detail on what this will be? I'm going to test it out myself but it would be nice to know what the expected changes are.

Yes Roku is the only inconsistent one, but everything else is consistently NOT showing podcasts in Continue Listening. Also, because podcasts don't show up as a library in the management, I cannot edit the resume settings for podcasts. So I guess that makes this 2 bug reports and a feature request in 1.

Just a friendly drop in again to credit your awesome work. This app has become irreplaceable for me, I use it for hours daily, and, every now and then dig into again to find some new settings to experiment with Kudos!

The emby server rotates the logs at midnight and this one does not include the server startup information from the reboot. Just restart the emby server and post that new log to see why it doesn't work with the new keystore. You probably want to edit out your domain from the posts above. Change your openssl command to this to include the intermediate certs, insert <your domain> below: openssl pkcs12 -export -out /var/lib/emby/data/emby.p12 -inkey /etc/letsencrypt/live/<your domain>/privkey.pem -in /etc/letsencrypt/live/<your domain>/fullchain.pem Then chown emby:emby /var/lib/emby/data/emby.p12 Restart emby server.

Thank you so much for your help, now my music library is finally in order. I have finally understood "how Emby thinks" and I have adjusted. It still gives me errors from time to time, but now I know how to solve them. Thanks a lot again and bye

Yep all jokes aside I think this is the way. ABS is in another league for audiobooks and there are other services that do a lot better in there respected areas (music/photos etc.).

I’ve recently discovered that the issue I had previously mentioned is also present in Emby on iOS 18.2 on an iPhone. However, the touchable area is less annoying.

Wanted to say thanks, and what a shocking difference switching to this skin has made. I figured I was safe because the Arctic skin has been around in some form or another forever and so "must be" mature, but effectively every little annoyance and major problem I've had, all with no obvious source, has stopped with this skin (I would assume stock would be fine too? But boring!). In particular some time back I reported issues with autoplay next episode causing hangs and crashes, and while some of those were resolved (particularly for Roku clients) by emby updates, Kodi was basically unstable for me if I had autoplay/play from here enabled, including random mid-playback CTD's for no explicable reason. So the two lessons here are - When troubleshooting "random" kodi problems, try again without the fancy skin. And Arctic Zephyr Reloaded does not play nice with E4K.

Update: turned out to be the vpn site I was piping all the data through. Once I switched to a new vpn endpoint, the freezes went away immediately. Still would like to know where @Carlofound those logs.

That is likely coincidental but I'm glad it is working for you now. I never see this issue so believe it is somehow a timing thing and may be only in some environments or intermittent.

It is solved now. I wrote in the truenas forum and there I did create a bug report. Somebody from the truenas team did solve the bug already. The next version 1.2.5 will have that fix.

It has been an outstanding request to be added to the Universal Android app for over 3 years but still not added. See item #29 here.

It won't affect whether transcoding happens or not, only how it happens when it does. So yes it's possible in the web browser it could look better, but it's hard to guarantee. This is lower resolution, interlaced video which is always tricky.

Not trying to be a jerk @Luke, but you are saying this now for half a year or so. You even called it "imminent" a few months ago.

@TeamBFor sure, Emby has to have a go! It's a bit hard with there current setup, which is do nothing and stick to the Artist/Album .. No room for series there... For me personally, I use ABS as a server and series is a cool feature..

No Luke. No. Not checking 'remember me' means the user should not be remembered. Period. What if I don't have a pin set? Or I use a stupidly simple pin because you won't let me use password-less access at home anymore? Deviating from this standard is a horrible idea. You've already pissed off a mass of your users with the authentication changes over the last year. Don't push it any further.

there is so much on your list when it comes to music. and nothing happens. and nothing happens, i pay for it every month. there are so many threads about the bad offline music library I live in Germany and unfortunately there is not wifi everywhere here, not even cell phone connectivity. More and more features are being added to emby, but the basic ones are being forgotten. "We're working on it". android auto offline mode is so bad there are so many things that the old software subsonic does better. Switch to offline mode pre cache playlist cache whole song not only a part of it differentiation between cache and permanent cache emby android client gets way too slow and crashes, I downloaded 45 GB of songs Why can't I completely delete my download list for a specific device? but i don't want to run airsonic and emby. I like emby and I like having my media in one place. I don't want to maintain two databases. when I start the download on the artist page, WHY can't I filter whether I have audio and / or video. I want my music with me on the go. My cell phone ran out of space when I still got the concert video from each artist. PLEASE PLEASE don't always forget the audio library and not only improve the media library. I don't want to use spotify. I hope you could understand my frustration, I speak very bad english.

Request: Please add a default aspect ratio option in settings for the Emby Android App. Reasoning: I have a Pixel 4 XL, the curvature of the screen in the corners causes the "Auto" aspect ratio to shrink the video down considerably, example: Using the aspect ratio "Cover" allows me to take advantage of the full size of my screen with minimal pixel loss in the corners, example: It would be awesome to be able to set a default aspect ratio within the Android app for that one device, instead of having to re-select Cover for every video. I too have a Shield TV and came here looking for the same option. I don't use or want chapter creation anywhere and in many instances it hinders FF & RW navagation.

Fully agree with previous comment. It does not look nice on tv when these chapters are empty.

I second that I would like to disable this chapter feature completely! It doesn't look appealing at all on my Nvidia shield
