Looks like 6.5.13-6 is working properly with HW tonemapping enabled.2 points

Not sure if this is the right spot where to request this. .. Nevertheless can we please add the feature for embyserver. Pretty much ro setup a pause timeout limit . so if a user put a video/movie on pause for more than xyz timeout limit would kick them back to the video/movie home page... Thanks Sent from my LG-US996 using Tapatalk1 point

Similar to missing episodes, it would be nice to be able to view which albums I'm missing for specific artists. I think MusicBrainz could be queried for albums and then the UI could show just the albums not in the user's library.1 point

what you said is correct. but all your data is going through plex servers. if you are ok with that then all good. the reason many of use dont want that is privacy/ data concerns. in fact plex has has a few big breaches. but yes it is easier to setup.1 point

Port forwarding happens in the router regardless of what software you use. Keep in mind they have a relay feature that automatically kicks in when a direct connection isn't possible, where they can route everything through their servers in order to make remote access possible. A fair number of users end up using this without even realizing it. They attempt to configure port forwarding, the direct connection fails but Plex apps still remain functional due to the relay feature. This also leads to users getting the impression that remote connections are easier with Plex, but once they learn how the relay feature routes everything through Plex servers, many end up deciding they don't want that to happen. Anyway the point is that remote access is something you need to setup in your router, and this part of the process will be the same whether it's Plex or Emby that you're connecting with: Remote Setup1 point

I wouldn't have thought I need to create a M3U file. I used sample in your article and it started to work. Thank you.1 point

I am not sure to be honest as it seems to be installed through their UI from the information I have. I just purchased a license so I am waiting to install it. There is a thread on their forum for App requests, with several others requesting they add Emby.1 point

@bsapihave you taken a look at our guide for this? How to add and configure an M3U Tuner1 point

The odds are that is the way TMDB handles the Actor as he is not in every episode. As you break it down by season he is only listed Season 2. per TMDB api metadata for the Show/Series he is not list as primary character unlike how TVDB list him. So per your metadata priority you only get Actors from first provider. So you have a choice to make TVDB first provider and fresh metadata or accept TMDB will not give you people linking you may expect. Or you have to add the person to the show manually.1 point

If emby would do that, my repo would go out of business All my hard work on creating the scripts to maintain and update it, would've been for nothing, so pretty please Luke don't1 point

No, doing maintenance on it, will be back sometime this evening.1 point

Hi @Luke: I just had the time to reinstall the complete relay-server and used the exact configuration in your link. I don't know what was the cause for the problems, but now it's working again. Thank you a lot!1 point

i wouldn't get too excited, it's been coming soon since 2014, but i'll be over the moon if we actually get it.1 point

Hi, I've pushed an update to the Emby anime plugin to add support for that. Thanks.1 point

I've installed the latest version and noticed that Deleting files from Dynamic nodes is no longer working. After selecting "EMBY: Delete Item" from the context menu, instead of being prompted to confirm the deletion, the context menu just closes. Let me know if you require a log file to debug further.1 point

That would be just below the screen shot Happy2Play posted, in each Special's Metadata and it can be edited. Using these fields, you can choose to allow it to play at the start of the season, in the order it was aired (ie: a Christmas Special would be sort of mid season), OR you can remove the Season and Episode number and it will show in specials ONLY and will not play during a season. Be sure to Lock any fields you modify as fetching meta may refresh anything that doesn't match the server and you will have to go back and make changes again.1 point

That would be nice, but it doesn't work properly so I still have to have a cable box which I have been paying for the privilege to keep for the last 4 years waiting for emby to actually work correctly for live TV. Emby continues to eat up my hard drive until the OS crashes because of live TV, it truncates my recordings at random times, things that were scheduled to be recorded somehow just become unscheduled by themselves and I miss key recordings....too much to list.1 point

It's hard to explain, IMO the Android TV app just feels better some how to use. If i was forced to say what was different i would say slightly more fluent, better looking and more options. How ever slight the differences are they do add up to something that feels better to use. The extra options like fx. down mix to stereo can be very useful when having trouble.1 point

Well, I say that just so you won't keep stressing over something that may not happen in your lifetime. Pretend there is 'next' TV and enjoy what you have now, since that is all there is ...1 point

The 172.20.x.y is RFC1918 private address space that is not your LAN (192.168.86.x) - suggesting you have 'something else' inbetween your PC and the WAN destination. Could be a dmz, could be a reverse proxy, could be CGNAT, could be a FW, could be a WAF... - but the odd thing is the TCP packet request is getting a valid response. If you are aware of what the 172.20.10.2 is - then for the moment, you need to remove it for testing. If emby then works - then you know that is causing the issues. The SourceAddress can of course be whatever you like (if you used a VPN for example, that would be source) but something 'in the routing/config' here is causing you 'reset' issues - I do not believe this is being caused by Emby itself as a LAN probe works.1 point

Hello, Thank you for your reply, but no, that wasn't it. In fact I realized afterwards that under Synology I wasn't up to date. However, it didn't automatically offer me the update. I had to do it manually. And then I got the “Synopsis” in this list. It was simple. Sorry for the inconvenience.1 point

The determination to make 4.9 a less protracted beta seems to have faltered somewhat... Paul1 point
-
4.9 apparently being the Smartlists edition of which we've seen precisely nothing how many months after the last stable release ?1 point
-
The way the current beta is going it’s not looking good it will be released soon very few releases very few posts. If they put tvnext that forum will be buzzing again. Its very disappointing the tv portion needs a lot if improvements tv guide is one of them after 7 years still not improved1 point
-
Well, I was told it was ready for beta in a couple months EXACTLY 4 years ago and why I went ahead and bought a emby premiere lifetime subscription. Even though the as-is TV app sort of works it does not work to my liking to get rid of my cable box but Premiere was on sale so I bought it eagerly awaiting TVNext. Still noting 4 years later and I still have my cable box. Never hold your breath around here.1 point

That's exactly my point; there's no such thing as 'defaulting remote access to off'. Emby is a server application accessed over a network. There is NO distinction between 'remote' and 'local', it's all just network access. How you configure the network emby server is attached to determines whether you have 'remote' access or not; not anything emby does or does not provide. If anything emby would have to build in additional functionality to reject connections that don't originate from the local network; which could then still be bypassed fairly easily. You're asking embys developers to engage in a wild goose chase, and significantly increase their work load while they're at it.1 point
-
I don't think you even know what you're asking for... The only difference between 'remote' access and 'local' access is whether or not you've forwarded a port on your router, if the system is even behind NAT (which it will be unless you've rented a VPS). There's nothing explicitly enabling/disabling remote access besides maybe UPNP which should be off by default for any service. There's nothing for Emby to change here. At most, Emby could remove a few options displayed for you in the settings pages, but really this would just create confusion over which release users should use and how to switch between them. In term of storage space, we're talking about a handful of megabytes at most. Hardly worth time/energy for anyone. In short; what specifically are you actually wanting changed (don't generalize with terms like 'bloat'), and why should Emby devote time+effort into making (and maintaining) an entirely separate branch of releases to make it happen, knowing how much they already have to do?1 point

I said at the time that I thought it was an awful change and still feel the same. Awful changes unfortunately happens far to often with this product.1 point

Maybe I'm missing the point here - but as a 'client/user' of the system - how would I KNOW to use this function in the first place ? When I watch a show, I don't assume an episode MAY be missing and therefore manually check each time - I want to be NOTIFIED that an episode is missing - thus I know in advance. The only useful function 'missing episodes' now serves is for the Admin (and then are far better tools out there for this) or for the poor client when they realise they have missed an episode and then attempt to find out what's going on. I get the technical reasons why, but removing this basic functionality without replacing it with something that is functional (from a client perspective) was a poor decision imo.1 point

I'm using Emby most of the time on different TVs with a remote control, as does the rest of my family. There is no simple "move mousepointer there and click this".1 point

I haven't seen them kick in on anything except the fire & google tvs but those platforms have a seasonal themes option in settings. It threw me off-guard the first time someone mentioned it was on their TV because I didn't even know it was a thing since I don't use those platforms. I've never seen it on our Roku's, appletv's, web, or emby theater on windows & linux. Looking at past posts it seems its not really supported anymore which sucks..1 point

+1 for this. Just set up all of my favorite podcasts on Emby and having to change the sort order to Release Date for every device for every user for every podcasts means a lot of manually changing sort orders. Would love if the admin has the ability to set a default sort order per library, and each user had the ability to override that default per library, and have it reflect across all devices. Because while release date makes the most sense for podcasts, title makes the most sense for movies.1 point

Yes it has those features since it looks like this is meant for a phone not a tv. i noticed the following issues. - scrolling the live tv guide it goes all over the place from far right to left. - channel up/down is backwards on the live tv guide - channel buttons don’t work anymore?1 point

We plan to take another look at internet metadata for books in future updates. Thanks.1 point

I checked the css topic but nothing is like I'm looking for, I'll give an example in images to understand. In the image I attached, the background image would like a trailer to be passing by, if not, the image remains. this is the emby splash screen, this screen has to be in random or a movie chosen by the administrator. at the bottom where there are the most popular movies, I would like the most watched movies in the last month to appear, at the top where the emby logo is, the my media menu.1 point

Fraid not. Sorry pal. Although surely a revolut card and a VPN to check out on PayPal via a different country would work? I have PayPal accounts in a few places to take advantage of their local prices for subscriptions using that exact method0 points

Hi, AFAIK (and according to Luke???), there are some instances with case-changes, and certain character types, e.g. apostrophes/inverted commas "" versus '' and brackets [] versus (), where Emby accepts the first use-case into the database and then always uses this whenever there are small inconsistencies in other original data of the same name. There are at least two previous threads on this relating to Genres: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/130230-case-changes-in-genres-using-mp3tag-wont-update/#comment-1368521 https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/45767-two-genres-for-the-price-of-one/page/2/#comment-431024 As I mentioned in the more recent thread, I also tried Genre, Album, Artist and Album Artist with similar results. This is great if the first-use-instance is the correct one that you always want to revert to, but not so great if you ever want to change the first-use-instance and all subsequent ones. I think I managed to get around the problem (for me) by updating tags in Mp3tag and then updating the same info again within the relevant Emby fields so that source files and Emby data match each other. It's a bit of frustrating double handling, but perhaps better than nuking a library?!?! Sorry, I don't know of an easier way. As music is mostly based on embedded metadata, my preference would be for Emby to always go by the embedded metadata, even if there are inconsistencies that then need to be fixed in the source files.0 points

"The only useful function 'missing episodes' now serves is for the Admin".... Yes you finally get it... The user gets what is available and that's that!! Can the user upload new episodes?? NO!! That's a job for the admin for that server.... Yes? I just don't get all this petty bullshit for mainly UPCOMING episodes that the user has no control over... Again Admin Missing episodes pre latest seasons are again all Admin. SO what I'm saying is this feature is admin and should stay that way.0 points
