  1. Here is a list of things users want added to the new AIO android app. The list is long, and so is the thread. 4 years later and its still not as great as the Android TV app.

  2. I've been using the past month the Android app on my TV, here is what is what the TV app does better: 1. Exiting the app Android: you press back, it goes to Home/Favorites, and back again - goes to the slide menu, and back again - it finally closes the app without any prompts TV: 1 press of back, asks you if you wanna exit, you press ok, it exits 2. Skipping intros (when you have the bottom menu on screen) Android: you press up once, goes to timeline, another up press- goes to CC, another up - finally goes to the skip button TV.: you press once up, it goes on the skip button 3. Menu Accent color (there is an option to change Accent color, but it does nothing) Android: you get white highlight on white background - it sucks TV: you get green highlight 4. Exiting a library menu (movies,tv shows, etc.) Android: you press back once, it goes to the movies/suggestions menu TV: you press back it goes back to the home menu 5. Preventing me from exiting Only on Android, sometimes, it does not exit the playback state, but i can navigate the menus, but i cannot exit the play window, in order to fix it i have to let the movie finish or fast forward to the end. Same happens on home menu, when sometimes i cannot exit the app at all, it keeps giving me the sidebar menu when i press back, the fix is to restart the app or device. 6. No subtitle burn-in option on Android. 7. The overall font size and UI scaling Android: Everything is huge and does not use horizontal space cleverly TV: nothing to complain So why am i making this? It is simple, some of the plugins and features only work on the android app, some of them are even premium, they don't even say before you buy on which kind of app the feature works. I would like for the devs to focus on 1 app and make it the only app. But since the android app gets all the cool things but does not get simple tings like UI scaling, simpler navigation etc. i wonder if the time spent on android app development is managed properly. Maybe more performance/UI fixes and less features. I don't wanna upset anyone, and hopefully there are others who can share more about this, not everybody uses the apps in the same manner.

  3. Guys, just by accident realised, that with atv4 native player and appropriate source (add+ atmos) the Atmos metadata is properly passed to receiver and so Atmos is retained. Big thanks... (and older one - emby addition to samsung store (replacing the need for installing "developer app") - which happened some time ago already, was appretiated too. thanks2) Matus

  4. As I'm transitioning from Volumio and Plex to Emby to centralize my usage to one app, the one thing I'm missing the most is gapless playback. This is particulary annoying when listening to albums like "Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd. I'm experiencing a buffer of about 1 second in between songs, which really ruins the immersion. Would be awesome if this would be implemented in both the Chromecast, and web player.

  5. I know this was talked about but I wanted to officially put this in the correct posting forum. For the Roku, would like to see a feature to HIDE the chapters like Google TV and Android TV can do. For the Roku, would like to see a feature to SEPARATE movies and TV collection. Right now movie and tv are combined.

  11. I meant named same/similarly as image files, as per linked topic. Devs might wanna see server log from the time of import.

  15. It will still be the same indefinitely until you trace what is making watcher seeing "E:\EMBY" as library path, as it encompasses all the other libraries/paths. What are your Christian Discuss and Messages libraries paths?

  16. Correct. There is currently no automated way of doing this for credits.

  18. +1 for this. Came searching for this exactly, kinda disappointed that its not implemented yet. Also +1 for a dynamic home screen: being able to show me different things and help me figure out what I want to watch next (a la Netflix) would make Emby infinitely better. Already loving it tho.

  19. Sounds like your HTTPS ecosystem is healthy to me. If you can access/logon/browse your Emby service out on the internet over https i reckon youve done the hard bit. I am not aware of any logging to help troubleshoot initial setup. Once it is generally working you can see the search/media selection commands that Emby Alexa is initiating (but that wont help you now unfortunately) you have Emby premiere and have configured Emby Connect username? as per https://emby.media/support/articles/Alexa.html?

  20. I believe the general consensus is that Alexa functionality requires HTTPS which requires a certificate. HTTPS communication does not have to be over TCP 443, im using the default 8920 port without issue. By default the player is the Alexa device itself. once you have HTTPS/skill generally working...you can use "Ask m b home, change player" Emby Alexa skill will start responding with suggestions for the player....(from the list of currently active Emby clients) Keep saying "No", until Emby calls out the player you want and say "yes". The Alexa will remember your preferred player for that Alexa. I dont know if its a bug or an Alexa limitation, but commands to pause and resume dont work if you have set a foreign player...these commands only work when the Alexa you are commanding is the player. Emby Alexa skill can only play content from Emby library ofc.

  21. I have been seeing this for quite some time as well. I'm currently running 4.8.8.0 but I think it *maybe* preceded that. I have only seen this with Roku clients. The only way I've been able to clear them is with a server restart.

  22. This issue just showed up on my system for the first time. Just reporting for context. As noted above, a restart of the server cleared the session.

  27. Well it's 2024 now and Jellyfin has definitely closed the gap. And in two areas it is significantly better than Emby: transcoding and tone mapping In Jellyfin you can transcode to and stream in h265 and AV1 The tone mapping is also faster and noticeably visually better (more accurate)

  28. You’re probably showing more you’re age than anything I don't think this is a matter of age, nor is it in any way modern. IMO, this is just unorganized brain-spamming made for people with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorders and the likes. You will never see me posting anything there, because when I do and take the time for answering questions in a (sometimes more, sometimes less) comprehensive way, then I want those to be accessible and searchable for others, not only for some feed junkies ingesting everything that is being written there. That's my personal opinion. Everybody may feel free to like it, but not claim that it would be a matter of age, to which I can only respond that I would rather consider it as a matter of intelligence.

  29. Every single discord server I've ever used was a god awful mess that's impossible to find anything useful in. Discord is a group chat platform; trying to track requests, issues, and individual conversations is a nightmare. Particularly for people that dont have the time/energy to read/scroll through mountains of messages every day. Fine for a random group chat with friends; terrible replacement for a forum and large communities.

  30. Guys give it up. Physical media will no longer exist shortly, and supporting it is far too difficult. Rip your media and hoard your ISO files. This is NOT going to go the way you like, and we know all you'll do is complain and complain. The rest of us have moved on. It is time you do as well.
