Hi, I have now tested the android standard app on my Sony smart tv and the back button does function as it should jumping back to the previous page. I have used the app several days at not experienced any problems. Therefore I gave it a test now to see if I got to the side menu instead, but that did not happen, only after repeatedly pressing back and that is how it should be. Maybe it is due to different brands running android tv that make it very difficult for Emby to test every system/brand on the marked.

Hello to all interested. Some time ago IPTV m3u tuner stopped working again. The issue was resolved with hls_proxy. And it works more stably, without breaks in the stream. Apparently Emby somehow incorrectly processes HLS streams, and hls_proxy reads the hls-stream and can give a ts-stream at the output. What's interesting is that Emby normally records hls streams but does not play them. I recommend it to everyone. If anyone is interested, I can write instructions on how. Good luck to everyone.

I think this kind of view is primarily useful for mods and admins who are tracking all content in all forums, but not necessarily for everybody. I don't use it either and I don't think it needs to be more prominent.

I'm a plex life time member, but I have been using Emby for over six years continuously, but there is a feature which I have always thought is missing in Emby which I would like and encourage the developer to consider including especially in this dispensation where families can social or commingle due to COVID 19. Today, I received a notification from Plex about it new feature titled Watch together you can read about it here https://support.plex.tv/articles/watch-together/ The feature allows friends and families at distance to watch same movies together instantly, you simply invite all your buddy, once they signed to the system which can be seeing in the server then play and pause as needed, this I think is cool feature should be added to emby. I am switching over from a Win7 box running MBC to Chromecast dongles. With the Win7 box I had a HDMI to Cat6 setup that allowed me to stream to up to 4 displays/TVs simultaneously. It was great while it lasted, but involved stapling cables to the ceiling to run it from room to room - plus it has borked Can there be an option to multi-cast to several receivers at once? i.e. simultaneously play to Chromecast dongles in my office and living room and kitchen simultaneously so i can walk from room to room without stopping and restarting the movie or show all the time? I realize that bandwidth could POTENTIALLY be an issue, but i have a fill gigabit network and a multi-port NAS so that really is the least of my worries... Thank you!

MKVs are capable of having multiple video streams inside of it. Some BluRays make use of multiple video streams, like animated films where some content like signs is translated to different languages. Or some films do have several video streams with additional content like a "before-CGI" version of the movie. Or you can choose of 2D video vs. 3D video. Kodi will support this in "Krypton" (version 17). http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=216672 So this works, when using "Direct Play". But not in other Emby-Apps or when transcoding. You can choose audio, you can choose subtitles, but not video. So it would be nice to have a "picker" for the video stream in Emby apps

If you add a Premiere licence to your server (you need your own server to use one) it will serve any client without separate payment. But note that it doesn't enable the client for use with other servers without Premiere. JUST TWO LINES as mentioned in several posts. REMOVE the lines referring to Emby. The only connections from the outside will be for Caddy (with the settings you now have), which is then solely responsible for passing data on to Emby through the reverse_proxy command. Paul

Bummer. The current themes are getting old, I'm easy, all I need to do it change the main wallpaper for any given theme [edit] I guess I should've mentioned, I brought this up because I finally updated server to 4.8.x and not sure if I like how the old themes seem to be brighter than they were in older versions.

My current setup. Shield 2019 pro (hot fix 9.2.0) > denon x4500 > Lg CX 77”. I downloaded that clip “Abspann Bitrate 25.mkv” and played it back with plex (exoplayer)…perfectly smooth. Next i used emby android for TV 2.1.16 (exoplayer)…perfectly smooth. Next i used emby for android 3.4.19 (exoplayer) and it too was perfectly smooth. Also played it back with kodi (ffmpeg) and it was as well perfectly smooth. I cannot reproduce a stutter.

@ebr@LukePlease implement in an upcoming release the change of how Emby replies to failed login attempts for non existing users plus shorten the number of failed password cracking attempts before blocking and please also lengthen the period from 60sec to perhaps 60 min. For legitimate users if they have problems, they know the administrator of the Emby server and can contact him to resolve any problems.

got mine working again as well. had to add the jammy repos that held the missing dependencies back in. also added some more checks so if it does break again it fails gracefully.

None of my users are reporting any more issues. Thanks for the fix!

Instead of pressing up to get the play bar you can press down and then up would bring up the info, chapters, etc.

Another way is to use the global options http_port and https_port to override the Caddy defaults.

hi Luke, as said - I've heard that also ten times with my ten reportings of that issue. what's the problem to use a tablet for 30min to realize theres no screensaver and the screen stays on - forever... really disappointing

It doesn't. It merges items (with the same providerid) with the same net-result as if done by Emby core or merged manually: it combines multiple items into single item with multi-version dropdown. Edit: Note that the change is irreversible, i.e. do have a valid db backup.

Update : Server started consuming memory again last night until QNAP shut it down. NAS has 64GB ram, but i am not sure at what point it shut down. I have now reloaded emby server 4.8.8.0 to see if this makes any difference and will monitor over the coming days.

I can't remember where it was reported but I think there is an ongoing issue with certain types of limited length playlists, especially those that are cleared and repopulated as a scheduled task (e.g. shuffle, newly added etc) In @PuffyToesToo's example I would suggest removing the 50 limit and setting the daily sort function to shuffle instead.

The diff is it will not provide any info if that user exists or the password is incorrect. Ie it follows basic auth guidance understood 20 years ago. Emby doesn't .. it replies with a different message if that user exists vs if that user does not exist. Emby even kindly confirms the user exists by the fact it is locked after x attempts. Anyway , one day emby may take security more seriously and change the real basic elements such as having https out the box or password complexity for online access. This product would not even get past the first hurdle on a modern pen test... which is a little sad in 2024.

It supports more incl dv7. I've never had any dv issues with the shield - it plays all profiles.

What exactly did you do? You can't just enable options on existing media as the nfo does not exist and requires refreshing all metadata to write nfo files on existing media.

Ensure you have the 'NFO Metadata' plugin installed Under your Library settings for each library: Make sure NFO Reader and Saver are selected: Then when you import media, an NFO file will be saved alongside the media with the <dateadded> tag <lockdata>false</lockdata> <dateadded>2013-01-05 14:44:15</dateadded> <title>Iron Man 3</title> If you then replace this media with an "upgraded" version, as long as the NFO is left intact, it will re-use the same <dateadded> tag and won't appear on your "Latest" row

Hi. That question used to come up a lot when we first started (over 10 years ago). I think the fact that it hasn't been an issue in all that time makes it not such a pressing question any more. We have no view into the future and, technically, you have this risk with just about any piece of connected software you purchase today but, other than a catastrophic event wiping out our entire operation (which would have to occur over a very broad area as we are spread out) we would try to leave you with a functional system if we could foresee something changing. But, I'm afraid, there no way we (or anyone) can guarantee you anything.

This is a design decision made by Luke. My opinion about that is two-fold: I think it's good to have multi-select drop-downs, because in certain cases this is a better choice But I dislike that it is forced upon all multi-selection controls without being able to show a select list directly, because there are other cases where this is a much better choice There are two way to work around this shortcoming: 1. Multiselect without checkboxes You can see this in the "Plugin UI Demo" plugin: You can achieve this by adding the Emby SDK Reference: EditMultilineAttribute to the property. This actually SHOULD turn the multi-select dropdown into a plain multi-select with checkboxes, but as long as the underlying Emby UI doesn't support that, it goes a sideway which works but without checkboxes and users need to use SHIFT-CLICK and CTRL-CLICK to select multiple items. This attribute also turns a single-select dropdown into a single-select listbox. 2. Grid Control This is what is being used for example in the Transcoding Test plugin for the wizard selections. It's undocumented, but I might be able to provide a sample for using it. An Emby SDK Reference: EditMultilSelectAttribute, should be applied to a string property with the value being a comma-separated list of item values. The items source items must be another property (Browsable-False) which carries an IEnumerable of Emby SDK Reference: EditorSelectOption (defining the values and display strings). Finally, you apply this list to the multi-select property with the Emby SDK Reference: SelectItemsSourceAttribute. You can find examples for this in the file SelectionUI.cs in the Plugin UI Demo example. Hope this helps, sw

@SimCitylinuxserver updated their image yesterday and your plugin is broken. My script still works fine. I tried to raise an issue on GitHub but couldn't.

Have to have some sort of rules but you can always use the plugin and not worry about naming or location.

if anyone is interested in getting their hands dirty and playing with a custom auth plugin to see if you can address any of the above here is a simple example pass through auth plugin: https://github.com/faush01/EmbyToolbox/tree/develop/SimpleAuth this example just passes through the auth attempts to the internal user/password store. my initial intent with this plugin was just to create an auth plugin that has some rules around password complexity but i never got around to it. one problem with the auth plugin system is you dont have access to the requesting ip unless that has changed in the last year or so, if you did you could block or sleep with excessive requests etc

I really wish some time would be made for this, give a settings toggle to shut the downloads section on the main screen off We have the downloads section across the bottom ribbon. This ugly section across the top is what's keeping me from using emby as a complete replacement for everything i do online.

I am also disappointed with this app. The iOS app is actually a lot better and has more features. I am not sure why that is the case. I am not even so bothered by the HDR stuff but the other basic missing features makes the app feel like an afterthought.

You can use this .ass subtitle for your testing. Check on Tag Default, EDCH and EDCP. For EDCH and EDCP, it's pretty much at the end when the ending song happen. That is a dual line subtitle which happen quite a lot on Anime. It would amazing, sometimes files aren’t synced perfectly, it’s probably the feature I miss most from plex. Being able to in the app advance or slow the audio.
