I don't see this - only the Embedded Title Track ? This is the standard web client... Single Audio Track shows the Embedded Track as well .. ? All generated from the MediaInfo Plugin .. I do NOT want to see the Emby generated values, as they will just muddy the screen and present less accurate info than my embedded titles.3 points

The last beta cycle was much longer than expected, so there was a commitment to making this one much shorter - but the official line remains "it'll be ready when it's ready". Luke did recently remark that he hoped it might be out around the end of the summer (Northern hemisphere, I presume). Paul2 points

I don't know how it works on a Mac but isn't /.config/ a hidden folder? I was questioning that /data folder with database you keep showing as they are all closed databases.2 points

So basically this. I have TV Shows, Movies, and Anime libraries. For anime; I'd prefer to set the default to Japanese with Subtitles. For movies, English and no subs unless forced. For TV Shows, the same. However, Emby only allows one overall setting this for this, for all libraries, instead of just one. I think it'd be a pretty nice little feature.1 point

Hi. This is my first post in here, so I guess I'll start by saying thanks for developing a cool peice of media center software Now to my feature request- I wonder if it would be possible to add the director's name to the selectable fields in the overview as illustrated in my screendump below and thus have the name show up below each movie poster, just like the other fields one may have selected to be shown ?1 point

When I have thousands of movies, the issue of duplicate content arises, and some duplicates might not be in the same drive or folder. Currently, I handle this by searching for actors and navigating to their detailed page to display all the movies they've starred in. This allows me to easily spot movies that have been downloaded multiple times. Then, I manually compare the size and quality of the movies, deleting the one with poorer quality. To be honest, this method is extremely inefficient, especially when I don't know which movies are duplicates. Therefore, it's not feasible to search for movie names to find duplicates. For users managing local content with Emby, the number of movies in their hands is often over a thousand, some may have tens of thousands, and all these movies have corresponding scraping folders and files in their local storage. This makes it less convenient to use third-party tools to find duplicate content, as Emby itself has a comprehensive understanding of all the movies. Through the info file, by comparing the titles, it's easy to identify which movies are duplicates. What Emby needs to do is provide a button and a page to display all the duplicate movies, allowing users to decide for themselves whether to delete or keep them. 1 point

Also, if you haven't secured your server with TLS, then the https version of this page won't work, try removing the 's' from the URL, eg. http://app.emby.media1 point

I see what you're saying. I do understand the frustration of dealing w/ bug reports containing inadequate data, or those having been made without searching for past threads first. Thanks a ton for your last two responses... That's just the kind of information I was looking for. I thought collections were entirely custom entities and didn't realize that they used image fetchers and metatadata downloaders just like other libraries. It seems like disabling those outright might solve my problem. I'll give it a shot now and mark your response as the solution if I am successful.1 point

I was playing around with this plugin today and noticed a strange occurrence. When i choose the segment "three minutes from start" get a lot of "Object reference not set.." errors but when i select 1 minute from 50% I no longer get them. Image extraction is enabled for both tests. Is this a bug with the plugin or transcoding related? Could not find this anywhere and I thought it was a good suggestion. Sometimes you do not want to resume an item (Adult material as an example) and there is currently no way of "clearing" the playback status. So that's my suggestion Maybe have a button for it on the item status page : (Obviously a paint mockup ) Reason for the suggestion, is that if you have a half watched movie that you don't want to finish the current way (unless I'm missing something) to clear it, is to resume it and fast forward to the end and let it finish1 point

Luke can confirm but I don't think we fully support what you are trying to do. We support changing the cache location but not necessarily with all the existing cache data as I believe those paths are going to be in the database already. My suggestion would be to delete the image cache contents, then do a scan and let it rebuild.1 point

Ebr, Thank you for your reply. I actually believe that it does! From what you're saying and what I'm seeing with wireshark, your statement seems to be the case. It seems to look for a local address, but doesn't sync to anything, then moves onto what I see are the cloudflare addresses. I feel ok to mark this request as closed. I hope this information helps others who are curious about this as well. Thank you ebr, and thank you everyone else that commented!1 point

Hi. Our apps will always attempt to connect to your server with the local address because that will be the most efficient if it is possible. If that fails, they try the remote address. Does that answer your question?1 point

@them8os235, What did you use for the xml guide data in Emby? If you use http://x.x.x.x:8089/devices/ANY/guide/xmltv?duration=1209600 as the source, Emby will pull the data from your CDVR server. You mention the "P" channels, are you talking about something like TNT and TNTP?1 point

Okay. So the sequence of events for these logs and pictures are: 1. Load ch9 (90) on iOS Emby app, change quality twice to produce a crash 2. Load ch7 (70) on iOS Emby app, change quality twice to produce the same crash. 3. View HDHR tuner Status web page - both tuners still in use. 4. Try to load ch10 on iOS Emby app, loads the buffer 'stream limit' image from thread fin. 5. Check threadfin(xteve) logs that I run my HDHR through (to bwdif=1 deinterlace), says the tuner limit was reached on the last channel tune attempt. In the 5 or so minutes since finishing those steps and writing this, the tuners are still listed as in use according to the HDHR tuner status webpage, but are not where to be seen on the Emby dashboard. embyserver-2.txt1 point

Thank you for the suggestion, but the /config directory inside the docker container doesn't have any of these directories. I just need to find the time to setup nginx as proxy forwarder / ssl offloader. I'll make sure to use the exact same fullchain.cer. Then I'll post back my findings.1 point

1. Yes. The same Roku having the problem with Emby would have the same problem with Roku Media Player, Plex or JellyFin. https://exiftool.org/forum/index.php?topic=11977.msg64661#msg64661 The older Roku was more lenient about the specification. You could even play 10bit color h264 directly and get horrible colors but it direct played. Since firmware 11.5 they have added new methods to read capabilities and have deprecated the older methods. It makes it easier to detect what a Roku will play, but the Roku is now much more strict on newer hardware about what it will play and will now actively refuse to play some material that could be direct played before. It would be better if it were in an MKV since any version of Roku could then play it. Or you would have to see if you could strip the tags without having to reencode the entire MP4 which should be possible. I just am not that familiar with removing tags from MP4 since I always convert them to MKV when it isn't DolbyVision.1 point

I would really love to have this feature implement as well. I am a teacher and sometimes usb drives fail, or there is no way for me to access my files. Having the ability to access and view at least a few of the reading formats would be great. I recently started paying the monthly sub for the duration of Summer, but will get the Lifetime once I fully understand how Emby works (I still can't access it from outside the network but that's something I can figure out later). Once there is support to read eBooks, I can then proceed with other configurations. Thank you to everyone working on this.1 point

Hi, yes this has come up before and is possible for future updates. Thanks for the feedback.1 point

Yeah, this is kind of ridiculous. Every time the issue pops up it's "We'll look into it" and clearly nobody ever actually does, and one time it was supposed to be "resolved" but no, it wasn't. I understand photos are a low priority for Emby as far as the devs are concerned, but it's messed up to leave paying customers in the dark on the status of this issue for so long.1 point

@Blam84Thank you for the sample. I see exactly what you mean on my Roku 4K streaming stick 3810X. The stutter isn't caused by the frame drop or stream errors. It is just straight up playing it incorrectly. Update: It is the tags/metadata embedded in the MP4. According to Roku tags/metadata are not allowed in MP4. Directly muxing this into an MKV solved the stuttering. There is no need to remove the tags when this is inside an MKV. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roku#Feature_comparison1 point

This may be by design. i.e. working as expected for extras and featurettes at the top level - But I would not expect it to affect the season level extras Exact same discussion in other topic as all the additional folders are just Alias for Season 0/Specials at Series or Season level and nfo written that way. So the only way to not get multi-version is episode level folders or the dash method added to file alongside episode. Better explanation of feature need or change in behavior at Season level.1 point

Will try get some time later in the week to capture some server logs to go along with the TestFlight diagnostics. My way of reproducing the crash 90% of the time is loading any TV channel on Auto quality selection, and then try to change it to something else while viewing the video. This seems to crash the app but leave it in the background. Most of the time the app won’t load up again unless you force close the app, this is when the “session” disappears from the dashboard - but if you look at your tuner status (whether it be HDHR or xteve/threadfin or another I’ve used is ADBTuner) it will be locked/still in use. Sometimes you can then go back into the stream to continue viewing, but it remains locked on and exiting the stream from then on has no impact on the tuner status.1 point

I haven't seen the Plex one but the JF one works well. Turn about is fair play, so Emby devs could in theory implement the JF changes directly since JF is open source or use it as a jumping off point so I don't suspect difficulty is the reason Emby does not have it yet.1 point

Yes and yes. 10.X: "Emby" label is just a placeholder to keep the plugin compatible with Kodi 21 but not actually supporting Kodi's version selection. Only the "classic" plugin based multiversion selection is supported. 11.X: Specials and multiversions is integrated into Kodi's "new" functions. Actually I'm already working on 11.X and both features are already working in my dev version. I think will released as public testing in the next weeks.1 point

Good news! Following kanipek's advice, I installed the windows server for CDVR and used http://X.X.X.X:8089/devices/ANY/channels.m3u?format=ts and it works! The other formulation did not work tho. I added the xml file to the guide data and everything popped up in my emby player!1 point

The Emby team wanted to say thank you again to everyone that took the time to ask various questions during our Q&A session. Here are a few more answers to questions that a lot of our users were asking about. 1) How is beta functionality success measured? Often times people are curious about the process we use internally here at Emby as we go through the Beta process. We do rely heavily on the forum feedback and beta-tester feedback relating to open issues. It is also important that we take into account the overall experience of the beta release compared to the current stable release, especially when we are making large changes as we did from 4.7 to 4.8. We may be perfectionists at heart but we also understand that we can't spend forever chasing perfection on the release so we do our best to balance stability and functionality throughout the whole process. To reiterate what we shared in previous blog posts, we also understand that a tighter release window with smaller goals allows us to hone in on the stability of the beta and get releases out to the public. It is something that we here at Emby are striving to get to. 2) What is the split of time between actual development and forum duties? We get this question asked often so we thought we would give a little run down on this. Some of our developers such as @Lukeand @ebrand others split their time between development and the forums as things demand. Other developers we have on staff actually do not even engage in the forums at all as to solely focus on the development of Emby moving forward. This allows us to offer quick and prompt customer service and also focus on development at the same time. We thought it was important to answer this one at this point in time, because we do want people to know that there is more to the development team than simply what you see here on the forums. 3) What would help the Emby team the most to improve the overall product from the community? This is another question that gets asked often and it's something that a lot of you are already doing. Keep up the feedback! The more the better! Everything that's posted on these forums is invaluable to us. From pain points, feature requests, how you're using the server, what apps you prefer and anything else that people share with us about how they utilize Emby. Everything that you share is heard and taken into account by the developers. That doesn't always mean that things can get implemented right away or worked on immediately, but the value of your feedback is paramount to our work. We know that it doesn't always seem like it to everyone, but we 100% listen to everything people say and value the thoughts and opinions of our user base! 4) What are some of the biggest obstacles that the Emby team faces throughout development? A lot of the challenges we face throughout development are based on resource allocation from the sheer amount of hardware and software options that Emby runs on. Keeping in mind that Emby runs on everything from an old windows laptop, to Linux distros, NAS, server systems and more, we have to make sure that the program works on all of these systems. Also development of the apps falls under that same category. With so many options for our users to choose from dedicated media players such as Roku, Amazon Fire Sticks, Nvidia Shields, Apple TV Smart TV's, mobile devices such as Android and iOS, there are a lot of different platforms that we need to develop on and do our best to make sure everything is up to the standard that our users expect from Emby. Good morning Everyone, I wish I read that this feature is just here for looks, kinda like nipples on a (genetic)male; I gotta say they look great sitting in my library, I just can't sample what's inside. lol Luckily I'm running JF, and I can hop over there if I need to read something. Personally, I love Emby and it would be my pageant pick every year, but, not having this feature when JF does, leaves an open, and easy hole to exploit from competitors by pointing this out. Given that something like a PDF reader is probably simple compared to the many intricate complexities that Emby currently handles already, it just takes away from that "Ready to Go" feel. I know the Emby Team works very hard and puts foot-to-buns when needed, and I'm well aware of how triage works, but, it would be nice to lock this down. Plus, having this feature may bring a completely new class of Emby users, I know lots of people that prefer books over moving pictures. Thanks for hearing me out, have a nice day everyone.1 point

EMBY SERVER 4.8.1 IS NOW LIVE WITH LOTS OF NEW FEATURES AND IMPROVEMENTS Emby Server 4.8 has been rolling out to various platforms over the past week or so. This upgrade in particular is packed with a lot of new features, improvements and fixes. Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing multiple blog posts to share some of the exciting new functionality that 4.8 brings to Emby and give you a more in-depth look into the features. Today’s blog will focus on two new features: PROFILE PINS With Emby 4.8 you now have the ability to set individual profile PINs. This new PIN replaces the old local network only PIN that existed prior to this release. It is more flexible (works both locally and remotely) and more secure. This new PIN is very useful if you have devices in your home that are shared by multiple users. As an example you may want to put a PIN on your profile so kids in your home can’t just click on your profile and view all of the same media but still allow your kids to freely switch between their profiles on the same device. NOTE: All users (local and remote) must authenticate ONCE per device. Once this initial authentication is done, that user will be remembered on that device and won't require password entry again unless signed out. PLAYLIST SHARING CONTROL Another great feature of 4.8 is the ability to designate exactly what other Emby users you share playlists with. Prior to 4.8, any playlist that was created was available to everyone on your Emby server. Now they’re set up for individual users. When you first create a playlist, that playlist is private to just you. If you wish you can then share it with any user that you would like via the "Modify Collaboration" option. You are able to set it up so that different users have read only access or have view and edit access to the playlist. Please keep in mind that this is only for playlists that were created after the upgrade to 4.8. Playlists created prior to this release will not have this functionality. They would have to be re-created to gain it. NOTE: In order to utilize this feature, you must first grant each user that you want to be able to create shared playlists the ability to share content from the user settings on the dashboard. You can see from the image below that it is simply a checkmark on the settings page. Once that is checked, it is as simple as creating a new playlist and then either right clicking on the playlist or clicking on the “...” menu and clicking on manage collaboration. From there you can easily choose which user you want to share the playlist with and what level of access they have. Stay tuned for a new blog post in the coming days that highlights some of the other awesome and new features of Emby 4.8! For now, we have listed below all the improvements and fixes that were included in 4.8. We as a team are excited to share all of these great new additions with you and hope you’re enjoying the update to Emby just as much as we are! ADDITIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS Add new profile pin feature.
