Many users want this and the competitors already have it, and have had the feature for years. We're just tired of waiting and hearing, "it's planned for a future release".6 points

A lot of people want this, you can solve your AppleTV client issue by simply getting a better playback device like an Nvidia Shield.3 points

I do think it would be helpful to give a bit more info about this kind of thing in general though. e.g. 'this feature is planned for future updates but unfortunately there's a lot of things in the list above it', or 'this feature is planned for future updates and the good news is its nearly at the top', or 'this feature is planned for future updates and its near the top but there's a few biggies in the way which will take a while'.3 points

You'd be crazy to buy a poweredge for Emby. As stated, any modern system is more than enough. If anything, the transcoding capabilities of quicksync are bandwidth limited. Jason at BytemyBits on youtube did a video a few years ago with Plex doing 4k transcodes. He got to 19 before it started to buffer, while using an NVME drive as storage. I currently run my system from a 1235-u laptop and I've had up to 15 people at a time transcoding with no one knowing. The intensive heat has more people staying inside, and my using a laptop produces very little heat in itself so I don't need extra AC. Quicksync is a godsend.3 points

Not even close. This has been one of the most asked for and talked about features. Who really cares about these issues, especially the appletv client. Yes and it has for years2 points

Since we can now detect end credits, or manually add them in other cases, it would be nice to see this, rather than an automatic percentage/time remaining, trigger the "next episode" popup and decide whether an episode is resumable or not. Even better if it could expand to movies for the latter point.1 point

When using Emby for audiobooks, playback speed resets to 1x every time you reload the app, both web and android app have this issue. Even worse, accessing playback speed button requires 2 clicks more then ideally needed, making Emby a chore to use with audiobooks.1 point

A possible cause of issues when updating Windows is the networking mode being changed to "public". If that has happened change it back to "private" and you should be fine again. Paul1 point

I don't care about your opinion on anything, don't come here telling us what features we want or don't want. Move on.1 point

Got it. You pay for an illegal box since you don’t have “plug-in” access pretty easy to see.1 point

Not really go look at Reddit lots of people have issues with them. The devices are what 5+ years old at this point. I know others that have replaced thermal paste but it’s not worth it. Apple ui is 1000% better than shield. Maybe after the next switch thing that comes out in what another year they will release a new version. But funny plex works fine with Apple. Emby is the issue not the device lol.1 point

What are you even talking about? Try and stay on topic. Emby Watch Party. Most people posting here want it. There, I summed it up for you.1 point

So your issue is not related to this topic. It is this one about VIP Unauthorized. And if you remove plugin credentials it works correct. Eventhough that is not how it is suppose to work.1 point

Thanks, yes "Long press" was the solution, I expected to find it under the "..." menu, but now I know better. BTW I'm using the Emby for for Android TV version, I find that to work better on my Android TV than the "universal" app. It can finally stream all my content, including x265 and live tv, with no stuttering or delays. So I'll stick with what is working (for me).1 point

Hi. All we can do is report it to the provider. We are just providing you the information from them. There is a LOT of this data when you consider all the channels and variants in the world so updates like this are not always immediate. There are human steps that have to take place on their end and even contractual agreements that can slow it down.1 point

I did it before the reinstal and ... problem fix !! I still have the cloudfare dns, don't know if that change anything but it works now. Thank you all !1 point

Have installed the dll from above and it works. I have the nfo option in the games library and it also creates nfo files if I change metadata. Reading them back in, as always, only worked when I moved the items out, did a scan and moved them back in with the nfo file and scanned again.1 point

I would also try restarting your router and rebooting your NAS. Please see if that helps.1 point

Sort of the catch 22 but do you really need artist in name if they are in artist folder? Reverse the order so title - artist?1 point
-
Yeah for sure. For the moment I decided to just convert to h264 which is also totally fine for full hd with about 6 Mbps and also direct plays on more devices. if you happen to need more details or something else just ping me here but for the moment I am fine.1 point
-
Yes I agree it is an extreme example, so while there should be some reduction in size, it shouldn't be that much.1 point

Hi, here is a version of the nfo plugin with game support enabled: NfoMetadata.zip If you can test it and provide feedback then I'll publish it to the catalog. Thanks.1 point

Guys, we really have to push to get the trailers improved, the quality we're getting within a paid option just isn't satisfactory any longer, we shouldn't have to use work arounds. I know the app isn't your life, but you have a paid service that's not working as is should. I have to be honest, I've looked at other request and issues, they often say "we're working on it" but not many ever has a resolution. Its been over a year for the Emby Premiere trailer issue and there doen't appear to be any improvement, yet it remains included in the Emby (Paid) Premiere service. Please make this a priority (We're paying for it) or remove it from the premiere servece and drop the price $1 monthly. I don't think we're asking for too much, many have been paying for a service for over a year that isn't 100%. 480p trailer quality shouldn't be a paid service. I think the Emby premiere service should be looked at as a priority, its not just the quality that has issues. If I set the app on to only show trailers for New and Upcoming in Theaters I still see trailers for movies in my Library. Guys, please take the paid service more seriously and make sure its working as advertised. We've been asking for this to be resolved for too long. Thanks1 point

@roormongerThe Studios search is fixed. The problem is that the values field was "comma delimited" rather than "Pipe delimited". In otherwards, it was my problem rather than Emby's. Vic PseudoTV.zip PseudoTV.dll1 point

How is there not 2FA yet? That's ridiculous, there should at least be that option1 point
-
I disagree on password checks... choice on some things are nice. Again just don't allow admin login from the internet.. this is why emby doesn't want to step in because there will always be someone upset over a new change.just allow 2fa on admin accounts. All we need.1 point
-
Hm, i might have missed the part where i wrote to enable MFA over http, but instead spending all energy in trying to make this request rediculous we could just try to find solutions to get it working. So just make requirements and grey out the MFA option if not using HTTPS, problem solved, next.1 point
-
MFA/2FA is not one thing. There are multiple options, multiple methods and multiple platforms to offer all of the above. Each requiring a different implementation. Thirteen pages into this thread just for the discussion to do it or not do it. How many more pages will it take to argue about which or how many of the MFA methods/options/platforms should be implemented?1 point

I still wonder why i see all kinds of "but and excuses" statements instead of giving users the ABILITY to have MFA. All i see is "but it does not make your server more secure, etc." Just give users and Admins the OPTION to use MFA, as long as Emby is not a managed service and is doing all the maintenance for the linux or windows servers etc. people are using, this is nothing you have to bother about. When someone has a microsoft Entra Tenant, microsoft is not responsible for any misconfigurations if you have the wrong sharing options or not using conditional access etc. Why are you trying to make people feel like you do a full managed service and you need to ensure they have secure environment? You give people a program to host their own media server, nothing more, you are not managing my security or something else. If people forget their password or just use 12345 as a password, this is nothing you have to bother. Just give us the option out of the box, to enable MFA for those who wants it. No needs to discuss the whole 7 OSI Layers and security. Thanks1 point

As the apps are using token based logins now, a OTP (MFA) 'could' be ultilised on the first login on a new device only to get the token. This I have no issues with - and it would also limit 'sharing' of accounts. But agree, the main use case is for the Admin accounts for those that want to ignore good practice and expose their admin account to the internet ...1 point
-
needs to have each users server host the totp server. so couldnt emby have that baked isnto the isstallation? qr code then setup using microsoft or google authenticator.1 point
-
Which is sad - Emby have a responsbility to protect not only their product and your media collection, but also the home network on which it is hosted. Lets say there is a vulnerability on an Authenticated account - allowing shell access. Now the lack of 'emby' security means your local network is visable and further attacks can now be made, snooping on your bank login credentials etc. All because embys view is they don't want to discourage the non-tech savvy from using emby remotely. As soon as you hit that 'remote access' button - you should be forced to create a decent password on all the admin accounts, and personally on all user accounts as well but until there is a decent way to enter this password or a OTP mechanism into the Apps - then I can see why they don't want to do this. They need to prioritise this imo but until they get hit again with a widespread vulnerability, I don't see things changing ...1 point

Good to see the 2024 update to this 2,372-day-old thread. I wonder if we'll still be debating whether or not something that has been pretty much standard on any internet-facing service for the past 2-3 years will have been added to emby before the 2025 update? The lack of MFA after all this time is indefensible.1 point

I dont want to be forced to PIN my accounts even if they are remembers - and specifically neither does my wife or children. If the network configuration has the ability to identify if I am local or not why can we not continue to utilise a feature that has existed for a long time I completely understand if you wish it to not be the default but if the user is willing to accept the associated risk for the convenience I really hope this is something we can bring back. This is actually something that should it been clearer in the upgrade logs i may have just stayed on 4.7. Upgrade logs were very vague on disappearing features. his is extremely disappointing and i would normally test on a docker or similar first but given how long this has been in beta i skipped that part. I already secure all my accounts with a strong password for when I decide to allow remote connectvity (this is not always active and i login manually) - Only i knew this password because locally "Allow logins from local network" allowed the login thorugh Now the only way to allow my wife and children to login easily is to remove all passwords from the account So can i ask a further question: If it is more secure to require a Password/PIN over the ability to "Login locally without password" - Why do i have the ability to have an account that simply has no password Surely a passwordless account is even less secure than what we had before? I will add a disclaimer here that i do agree this is more secure, but I also believe that as the end users we should be empowered to make the decision on the security risk and not have it made for us. Essentially now instead of having my accounts secured by a password, I have had to remove the passwords completely Can we please bring back the local network login? Disclaimer it that this is not recommended etc etc if you need to but this really is a approval factor for EMBY. Last I checked even Plex does not force this on its users and I really hope EMBY team listens to this feedback1 point

Welcome to the WMC UI Public Beta! Thanks for your interest in the WMC UI and for being part of this! Your help and feedback is important and essential for getting this to perfection and ironing out all those things that one alone can't find and identify as everybody has different setup and different ways of using Emby. There are two places for interaction and communication: GitHub: Issue-Tracking and Releases WMC UI Forums (here) Issues Issues are used for tracking work that needs to be done Please create a new for every problem you see, no matter which kind - can be errors, unexpected behavior, visual glitches, etc. Please check first, whether an entry already exists for the same problem If you think an existing entry is the same, but the situation is slightly different, you can add a message to the existing issue or create a new one, we'll then find out whether it's different or same WMC UI Forums We’re using the forums as a place for general communication like: Publishing announcements about when updates are published Asking questions about the WMC UI Sharing ideas and suggestions Please always start a new topic for a new subject and let's try to avoid endless conversations which are "about everything" Platform Availability The WMC UI Beta is currently available in the following forms: Web Browser & Installable Web App Emby Theater WMC (Windows) Emby WMC (Android) Web Browser & Installable Web App Web Browser There's an http and an https URL available: http://wmc.emby.media/ https://wmc.emby.media/ Emby Theater WMC (Windows) ClickOnce Installation (auto-updating) Win 64bit: https://softworkz.github.io/etwmc/setup/x64/ Portable Installs These are useful to test or compare specific versions or in case of issues with ClickOnce installation. They can be found in the Releases section: https://github.com/EmbySupport/Emby.WMC.UI/releases Just unzip and run. Emby WMC (Android) The app version can be installed in parallel to the regular Emby Android App and the ATV app. Please side-load the app by using the matching APK. The APKs can be found in the Releases section: https://github.com/EmbySupport/Emby.WMC.UI/releases NOTE The Android app is limited by date, so that it is working within 10 days after release. We'll try to always have a new release ready before the previous one expires.1 point

Both 8mm and the accountant are objectively part of collections. You may not agree but you don’t provide the metadata. I imagine what happened is you enabled collections initially with a minimum of 1 item, the collections were all correctly created and you later changed the minimum to 2.1 point

Good day, I will explain and clear the confusing and misunderstanding about the group "Member". 1 - When you register at Emby Community support forum, you place at that group, from 0 to 25 posts you are "Member", when over 25 posts you will move to the group "Members". We have other groups as well, but our subject here the "Member" group with 0 post. 2 - Why sending "Force Password Reset" for that group and ONLY with zero post: We notice for the past month that some groups of spammers posting from these accounts, as we all know, many using same email/username/password in multi sites, and if one of these sites get breached and info get published on the net, any spammers can use that. either to spam any community or worst, attacking the members here with any posts they made, these kind of spammers do not care if they get banned or not. Any community faced that, normal will ask their members to force change their password, in OUR case here, the "Member" group with ONLY zero post. 3 - Why now start to deleting accounts for "Member" group with ONLY zero post from year 2013 to 2017: We notice from many replies when we did the force password reset, that many do not know if they ever had accounts here, In this deleting steps, we want to make sure that whom register here are the real user, not someone else using their info. After many confusing, I hope this thread clear the matters. Thanks all. My best1 point

I took an added step for my Emby docker container of only allowing read-only access to all of the media mount points, so unless a threat actor finds a way to escape the "sand box", they still can't modify/delete my media (or the adjacent metadata files). The only downside to this approach is that I need to rely on tools like TinyMediaManager to fetch my metadata, whose automation capabilities leave a lot to be desired.0 points
