It was discussed ad-nauseam publicly and behind the scenes. It was not only about admin accounts. As posted by @pwhodges the exploit allowed an attacker to access Emby as if they were on the LAN along with everything that entails. Those who practice good security hygiene had zero to medium exposure. Those who don't, which is the vast majority of the Emby user base, had an open attack surface that was exploited in the wild. The Emby team decided to close the hole and normalize authentication. At the time I didn't agree and felt there were other options available to mitigate the risk but when the house is burning you don't stop to discuss the ugly window shades. It was the right move on the dev team's part to just shut it then and now they are working on ways to simplify the login process while maintaining a consistent approach to authentication. My suggestions would still apply and I think some might be included but not all though Emby continues to evolve. To all who are still complaining and questioning - That ship has sailed. Learn to live with the new and consistent way forward.

Danke für den Hinweis, jetzt nutze ich schon so lange Emby und war der Ansicht alle Einstellungen zu kennen. Die kannte ich tatsächlich nicht und hier war das einlesen nach Erstellungsdatum eingestellt. Ich habe es jetzt umgestellt auf das Einlesedatum und werde beobachten. Da ich beim letzten Problem mit den nicht mehr erstellten Episoden Intros und den Tests mit Luke dafür den Server neu einrichten musste, muss der Punkt verstellt worden sein. Ich werde das jetzt wie gesagt beobachten und sage hier wieder Bescheid. Erst mal Danke für die schnelle Antwort

One more suggestion: Its not uncommon for people to have very outdated installations. There might be lots of users that don't realize the feature is gone yet (like we saw in Gilgamesh_48's post). It might make sense to just have a FAQ on this. For me this would have been enough to avoid lengthy discussions: or something along those lines

ISO as a 'live' media format is dead, you need to accept that and plan to migrate to a modern container that is well supported. ISO > MKV as a 'raw copy' (maintaining all the old codecs etc) is as quick as it takes to copy the data. Yes you'll lose the menu's - but via an app such as Emby, you'll gain rich metadata - with the ability to search your entire collection for titles, actors, key words, producers, collections, chapters etc with the touch of a button. Not to mention direct play in identical quality (a remux), or stream/transcode according to the players own capabilities.. the list goes on.

I renamed each part according to emby tv series naming scheme (change ptxx to S01Exx and so on). I know it is not a series, but atleast it behaves nicely now and doesn't wreak havoc in my library looking like 37 copies of the same cover Yes, I had to add a few pictures manually, but that is a small price to pay. Ya that's exactly what it was. I did not know deleting the server from the account would delink their email addresses. I had them delete it to reconnect while we were troubleshooting it earlier. Makes sense.

But the question is custom ratings. But I guess if you wish to overwrite the actual rating for all then yes the script should work but are really two different scenarios.

@ginjaninjacreated a handy script for those rogue episode ratings, has been my daily driver for quite some time now.

One conflict will be People folder as beta will write for itself but new setup being read only still has to potentially fetch all people so disabling providers should be an issue.

Asking which port should be used was a bit of a eureka moment. Google informed me that clients automatically ask for port 80, I told my router to send all requests for port 80 to 8096 on the host machine along with all requests for 8096 and wouldn't you know it, everything works perfect, asking for MyDomain.com or MyDomain.com:8096 now all lead to the correct place! Thank you both!

Sounds like OP want port 80 so url works. So these steps but with port 80 if I understand correctly.

Never looked as it technically is reading a restore from somewhere. As no path is no restore as you mention. But obviously correcting the UNDEFINED should resolve the issue.

Emby has always had a KB and anything outside of it that worked was just luck and does not mean any future updates will not break the unsupported structure/naming. But just serving the files is what Home Video and Photos does and breaks all Series/Show layout into individual items with no metadata providers.

The fact you have failed login attempts, says the 'connection' is good. But for some reason, the Authentication is failing - wrong password perhaps ? Maybe set a very basic password just to test - but don't forget to put it back when you are done testing..

Here is what I use for importing the Channels guide info, http://127.0.0.1:8089/devices/ANY/guide/xmltv?duration=1209600. With that duration setting at the end, I get 8 days of guide info.

Oh good. You were beginning to make me think I was going crazy amongst all the other problems I'm having So, I guess it could be anything from 2018 and 2021 since we know 2017/2022 are good. I don't think the previous version of the app has expired yet which is probably why a lot of people haven't updated yet and reported the issue.

Thanks - for each of the image extractions in this log - we tried to extract and got a timeout and then we repeated the extract with different options and we did succeed. So in the 13th June all were successful. i will discuss the initial extraction failures with the devs

That version of the app which you downloaded is compiled on the Samsung portal and at that time Samsung injects what is basically a timebomb into the code which expires the app approximately 30 days after compiling. This method of distribution is meant for beta testing before submitting to Samsung for review into the store and basically prevents app developers from distributing their apps outside of them. Once an app is submitted to Samsung for review, they will then do their own testing and compile the app without the timebomb for release in the store. Since Samsung won't test apps for TVs older than 4 or 5 years (for non premium paying partners) then people either stay on the older app , or switch and use the beta app and play the game every 30 days.

I'm not sure if you've looked at all the relevant directories via ssh, I have two Synology servers, dsm6 and dsm7 tested both, installed manually and via the store, but their directories are not the same.

Yes also with default launcher there is a "pip". Infact when during play movie press Home on remote a pip appear on screen, but in this case there is a popup where you can select "stop playing"...even if it's not very comfortable. While with Projectivy Launcher or also FLauncher, yoy must comeback on Emby and stop movie. I don't have such issues with any streaming apps and I have a lot.... so I think it's a problem with Emby for Android....if it could be fixed Hispa

Most of the failures on this NAS were on the 1 minute timeout for single image extract at specific offset, There were a lot of these failures and my post above showed a few of them. With the increased timeout to 10 minutes for multiple image extracts there were 3 failures. I will check the new log just added

Your router appears to have assigned a IPv6 address. Personally I just disable it on my LAN.

Your observation is absolutely correct. The plugin doesn't delete the sources, there is no need for. It just adds additional records if they don't exist and only on factory resets. Additional paths are usually used for playing not Emby related content -> native Kodi content. If I would rebuild the sources from scratch, people will (and have) complained about that. I still need the "invalid" sources.xml for review (including your custom records, braking the playback). btw, I see an issue in you last uploaded kodi.log. I assume it's a log from stock .29 plugin? I'll check and fix it, seems to be related to transcoding.

Please make some efforts to improve the embeded player and the emby theator player. With out such features, emby player is useless for people like me. Thank you!

As a mac address is specified, make sure it is correct. Your server will have a different one for ethernet vs the one it had for wifi. You can usually find a list of connected mac addresses and their assigned IP addresses somewhere in the routers status pages.

I guess I was just stupid. In my password manager there was one password for my user. But that's an Emby Connect password or something? Don't know. I can use it to log in to app.emby.media. But it was not my user password. Created a new one in the browser where I was still logged in fortunately and now everything works again. One last thing - can you confirm that there was a feature to not require credentials in a local network? If so and it got removed after the latest update I would have been in more trouble if I wasn't logged in in my browser still to be able to change the password, I guess. Anyways, thanks for the quick help.

Why not just go use Jellyfin it’s free and no device licensing? @visproductionyou going to pay for your recommended service? You think that 1x payment you made can cover the number of api calls they would need to make, or you going to start paying monthly. I’m sure they would love to have everyone pay monthly. @Dreakon13Im sure your only using emby for your legally ripped dvds… Emby is fairly well known for allowing the hosting of pirated media why they will have issues if more people report them on the app stores and they get black listed. Why you think they trying to limit devices. Because of the share selling that goes on with emby and since they can’t track it like plex does their product goes bye bye if mpaa or any org really took action to block their apps.

You can also use tvheadend with hdhomerun and get your m3u and xmltv from it to put in tivimate.

It depends on what your server is doing to have 29 files. If I process 100 episodes then I can expect 100 image extraction logs for that day. If there are 10 items transcoded one day then there are 10 files. So number of logs in your log folder will be dependent on your server activity. And can be tweaked if it that much of a issue. But as mentioned you could have hundreds of logs pending on your server activity and I believe set logging level (debug). <LogFileRetentionDays>3</LogFileRetentionDays>
