  1. @luke, what's the latest update on this? It's been a few months since your response above, 4.8 has been getting the support it needs and 4.9 has received more than a few updates. To hold up this completed feature just because a new Windows app is taking forever doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Thanks for any info you can give.

  3. Files within \trailers subfolder should be filename-agnostic, but seeing you've named it 2 Guns (2013) - Trailer (with "space-dash-space", which is coincidentally multi-versioning naming convention), maybe it's throwing parser off, try renaming it to 2 Guns (2013)-trailer (no spaces) or anything other than current filename, see what gives.

  5. it'd be really cool to have extras seperated by type. it's hard to scroll through the section when some shows have over one hundred extras. i'd like to choose between featurettes, making of or interviews folders easily. tvdb started seperating the extras this way, maybe it can be implemented?

  7. Greetings, I have the following problem, I have 2 computers with linux mint and there I installed the flatpack version of Emby Theater. No matter what I try to play (music, movies, TV) only the loading circle appears and nothing happens. Via the browser it works as usual and with the windows version of Emby Theater it also works without problems. I think it has to do with the update to the latest server version 4.8.7.0. I have also tried to delete Emby Theater and reinstall it, but that didn't help either.

  8. Good day, I contacted @CBersabout the Apple TV version information in this post... The last announcement for Apple TV was for v1.7.3, but the latest version on my Apple TV is 1.8.8 (2). Additionally, it appears that the latest release notes are not available/hidden for some reason. I think it would help answer many questions before they were asked if we could get current and (more importantly) BETA release notes for the Apple TV app, just like we get for the server. This way we could see progress, and what issues are already being worked on. Any insight from the devs about the release notes would be helpful... Thanks!

  9. Still no context but will guess the media is being Transcoded and you can't jump in media as you like would be a wild guess. But can say media duration really has no factor here beside maybe transcoding space requirements and watch 3+ content in web client and device clients without issue but 99% of the time are Direct Playing.

  10. I found out if you download and install the deb or flatpack file manually it works. So there is something wrong with the version provided in the flathub.

  11. What Emby player as the majority of players are the platform/client/app default player and the web interface is your browsers player ie nothing to do with Emby. But sounds like you want what Emby tries to do in some of their Premiere clients with external players. Personally, don't see this happening in the web client but if it did then would be a Premiere feature also. But this really lacks context of an issue.

  16. Hi. This is a known issue with the Roku player. It is intolerant of bad input data so the only solution is to correct the tags in the media.

  17. Not sure if it is something with the major version update (4.7 to 4.8) but looks like similar has been reported, requiring Host Restart. But glad you are up and running again.

  21. @LukeThank you very much for the response. Looks like it may have been a DNS issue from the Firewall. I haven't changed the DNS for 2 years. Weird! I changed it last night and no errors in the log today so far or alerts.

  23. I am talking about the Emby Android app. It's still possible under Kodi, where it works perfectly - that's why it drives me up the wall when people try to tell me that my hardware is too weak.

  24. Workaround: disable the old plugins (maybe restart Kodi at this point), update all plugins and re-enable the plugins. The issue is related to the old plugins (they do not stop properly) and Kodi has a bug. It should kill them after 5 seconds. CPythonInvoker(3, C:\Users\Pxxx0\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\addons\plugin.video.emby-next-gen\service.py): waiting on thread 15180 btw, when I push this release to Emby-Kodi's repo, it should be fixed, cause the install order will be different. At least I hope so, needs to be tested.

  27. So the problem remained after you upgraded from 4.9.0.22 to 4.9.0.23 - the log you attached was from 4.9.0.22 The log shows ffmpeg failures during image extraction for 3 movies: Civil War, Scarface andn a Godzilla x King movie The Scarface one was within the first 10 minutes of the movie, so I suggest using tool like mkvtoolnix to create a snippet from the movie file of the first 10 minutes, adding it to a test library and if it fails to extract the thumbnail in the same way, then make a zip of that clip available to me to reproduce the issue with. You would need to upload externally and send me a link to download by Private Message. I don't know if this is specific issue to your platform (arm64 NAS) or an issue with how the media file is handled. - i will test first on my windows server. The errors show in the server log as "System.Exception: System.Exception: Error running ffmpeg quick-extract-image"

  29. I would start by comparing my folder structure and file and folder names with the naming guide: https://emby.media/support/articles/Movie-Naming.html While there is some flexibility, every deviation from the recommendations increase the chance of things going wrong. Paul

File-Berechtigung setzen 0755 root@nas-os6:/usr# apt install /tmp/emby-server-netgear_4.9.0.22_amd64.deb

  31. HI, yes probably going to either have to live with that for now, or we just take away all ability to add people to collections. Determining if a collection should be visible for a user is not trivial. It's based on whether the user has access to at least one media item in it, based on library access. But for people it would have to be something like it should be visible if at least one person belongs to at least one media item that the user has access to. Trying to compute that for a single collection, not a huge deal, but trying to do it over every collection all at once would degrade performance.

  43. I’ve been trying out the new Group By function for Collections in Emby 4.8.8.0. It’s very easy to understand and use, plus gives good flexibility with the different views for everyone to choose a preference for themselves. Perhaps Group By could also be used to give more flexibility to the Music views, for resolving the Artist/Composer issue, by hiding/removing unwanted rows/items? By further rearranging the same logic (and diagrams) posted previously, Group By could select from (say?) 4 different Music groups/views, e.g.: Combined (Artists and Composers are grouped) Note: this is the current default view Separated (Artists and Composers are not grouped) Artist Priority (Composer-only items are removed) Composer Priority (Artist-only items are removed) The current Combined group/view could remain as the default view for casual music users. This could easily be the same basic view for the Album Artists/Artists/Composers menu tabs? The Artist items and Composer items are combined and there are only 3 vertical sections involved: Albums Appears On Songs A new Separated group/view could be added for serious music users. Albums are unchanged, but “Appears On” and “Songs" are now split into 2 rows each. This could be a useful ‘everything’ view for the Album Artist tabs and/or a general Album-focussed perspective? Artist items and Composer items are separated, but there are now 5 vertical sections involved, and some info is duplicated (refer to diagram) in the rows: Albums Performs On Composed On Songs Performed Songs Composed A new Artist Priority group/view would show Artist-specific Albums and Songs, but hide Composer-only items. This could be a useful view for the Artist tabs and/or an Artist-focussed perspective? There are only 3 vertical sections: Albums Performs On Songs Performed A new Composer Priority group/view would show Composer-specific Albums and Songs, but hide Artist-only items. This could be a useful view for the Composer tabs and/or a Composer-focussed perspective? There are only 3 vertical sections: Albums Composed On Songs Composed Here’s an updated diagram showing the different groups and the underlying logic. It looks quite involved, but it’s necessary to consider all the possible true logic combinations (e.g. 001-111 for Albums and 01-11 for Songs) before rolling-up to the higher-level info (the developers would well know this – much more than me). Apologies, in advance, if I have made any silly errors! I think the above 4 top-level Groups are reasonably simple to understand and the underlying row views should also make sense, from just trying out the different groups, especially for serious music users who would likely want something beyond the basic (current) default combined view. Having at least the 2 options of Combined and Separated would be a good improvement. Adding Artist Priority and Composer Priority would give Emby great flexibility for (e.g.) contemporary vs classical music libraries (or both). Of course several other worthwhile combinations are also possible, but the above is enough for this one post, and these 4 Groups could be a good starting point for some flexible music smart views!

  45. Bumping this rather than starting a new thread. My expectation when I saw that Emby supported multiple folders for special features was that each supported folder name would have its own strip under the movie in the client app. If you just did the main 'extras' folder, that's all you'd see, but if you took the time to break your special features down by type and put them in a corresponding folder, you'd see the results of that effort in the client app. After I didn't see what I expected, I looked into it more, and it seems like the alternative folder names are just there to accommodate content generators with their own established folder structures. But..I'd really like to see special features get that grouped presentation I originally envisioned. And maybe someday, their own dedicated tab where you can watch special features by type across movies and other fancy playback options.
