  1. When opening the context menu on series in continue watching, the option "Go Back to Series" would be greatly appreciated, right now there is only the "Go to season" option. Emby Server 4.9.0.22 and Emby Android 3.3.99

  2. It is not only Live TV, it applies to all items detail screen, one of the "improvements" latest server version brought with - why it was ever considered that having a pop-up window on desktop machine is a good one: loosing focus/point where one was while reading and having to re-read effing paragraph until break point, overlapping with text in the background, altogether terrible solution - is beyond me.

  3. Example as all titles in context menu have links to movie or show. So it would be redundant if actually adding another item to the already to long context menu.

  6. I think this should be moved to the Emby Server - General sub-forum since it's a universal problem that affects all platforms and you'll have more participation in that section.

  7. Hello, Not sure if I missed it in the previous upgrade(s) or if it is new in 4.8.8 but I noticed the "group by" icon and I changed that to None and boom! That changed the layout back to the way I had it before!! I'm very happy!!!! Thank you!!!!

  8. @LessajI have split out this into a separate topic because it's unrelated and confusing inside the original one.

  9. I did a small amount of thinking and wanted to try and answer this hypothetical even if it deviates from my original post a bit. Feel free to correct me if anything I wrote is inaccurate (it might be because I wrote this in kind of a hurry) If Emby client and server applications shipped with an embedded CA that is signed by the master licensing server with a very private key (not the user server), and required a valid timestamped certificate (grace period being "it's been less than x weeks since expiration") provided by said master server while the end user server was still online to enable Premiere, you would not need any form of communication between the licensing authority itself, only need a properly signed and encrypted certificate that can be verified by the CA (which is locally installed), which emby server/clients will automatically reject after the certificate expires and a certain amount of time has passed (grace period). This would obviously require that the CA be updated on a semi-regular basis to prevent old CAs from being used (once a year?) but you could just package it in with each major update (which generally, happens once a year, and you would have to anyway for smart device apps). The amount of time and effort required to compromise the private key on the master licensing server or brute force it would be much more significant than simply cracking the APK or etc. so I would not consider it "trivial". "But what if users change the system time to prevent the certificate from expiring?" -> you can already do this with current implementation to trick the local emby server into thinking it has not passed a lot of time since it went offline/whatever mechanism is in place to prevent such attacks can just be re-used to ensure certificate/license cannot be used after the grace period ends. Not only that but you would have to continually change system time/forever keep the server offline which I think is a lot of work that most people won't go through with.. It will eventually have to connect to the internet for whatever reason. You could also compare with the connecting device(s) time, and especially if its a modern phone it will have access to GPS time which is generally accurate. So no, I think it is not as trivial as modifying responses (unless they're unencrypted in which case why bother with licensing at all?). If that were true for most protocols, the interweb would be a much unsafer place.

  10. Hmm, seems like we got a logical hole in this regard. It's a bit more difficult than the usual player capabilities, because it's not sufficient to check whether the player can decode 10bit HEVC. We also need to check whether the display supports HDR and whether the current display mode (HDMI connection) is set to HDR, and if the latter is not fulfilled, we need to know whether the player can do (and is set up to do) tone mapping. If none of the former is true, then the server must transcode with tone mapping.

  11. After a little research, that isn't quite as simple as it sounds as there are a lot of generic boxes that, internally, look like phones but are intended for use on a TV. If we tightened our restrictions, these would no longer have the app. But, this should be a moot point going forward as our standard app should work fine on both formats.

  12. It should only be available to devices that advertise support for Android TV. Perhaps that phone is doing that for some reason...

  15. The decision to change how collections display and not have an alphapicker on the "add to collection" are poor choices by Emby. But Emby has made other poor choices in the past and it takes overwhelming evidence to get them to even think about changing things. Once Emby digs their heals in there is little that can be done that actually even might have an effect. Emby is usually quite responsive to complaints but if they have decided that their way is right it takes monumental effort to get them to even acknowledge they might be wrong or that others might have a better idea of how things should be done. As responsive as Emby is to user requests they simply become extremely reticent to make changes to benefit users. I know the change in "add to collection" is an error and you know it is an error but Emby, in their apparently tunnel vision extreme, just refuses to see or act on the collection bugs/issues/stupidity of their initial choices. Due to the stupidity of Emby related to "add to collection" I have stopped, mostly, the use of collections at all. Emby remains very good and I use it daily but I have lost the desire to use collections even though they could be very useful. The changes made by Emby and their failure to add an alphapicker to the add screen means that collections are now useless to me. Through no fault of mine a potentially very useful feature is not just dead code cluttering up the program space that could/should be used to actually make Emby more useful.

  16. YES!!!! - Because when Internet connectivity is lost, it is very likely that the NUMBER of clients becomes severely limited and unlikely to even come close to an excessive number connections. Please re-think this as I am sure there is a better way to fulfill your requirements AND make our lives easier during an outage.

  17. But there's only 1 recent collection listed, and why cant you have recent at the top of a full page rather than a list?

  18. Maybe it's time you guys overhaul this licensing enforcement mechanism and let the servers manage it when internet connectivity is lost.

  19. I just upgraded from a 4.7 version to 4.8.7.0. I know a lot has changed, and there's one thing that I think is absolutely horrible. When I want to add something to a Collection, instead of getting a grid as in 4.7, I get a list, and I can't find any way to change how it's displayed. So in order to find a Collection I have to scroll six times more (on my screen that used to display six across). I don't know why this was changed. I'm running with a 32" monitor at 1920 x 1080 resolution. I can't think of any logical reason that you would display a list of collection as if I was using a phone, unless you are assuming that everyone is using a phone.

  20. Yes the download page scripts can take longer to update. You can always look at GitHub for the release. Releases · MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases (github.com) https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/4.8.8.0/emby-server-qnap_4.8.8.0_x86_64.qpkg

  21. you can probably also use the 'path' of the item instead of the id.

  22. It is only shown in the url same way you would see library parentid. You can also use the "Emby Data Explorer" plugin in the catalog to see an itemid. and you can see the InternalID so my database is 806100 for Top Gun

  25. @new_german_guythanks for the kind words. The TV Platform on which PseudoTV is built was written by @Luke. He plans in the future to enhance this code so that playlists will not be required to force Emby clients to play media at the current time in the EPG, rather than always starting at the beginning of the media. This will resolve the problem you mentioned above. We are now working on completing Bumpers. This code should be completed soon. If you have suggestions please let us know. Vic

Emby ist vom Grundgerüst her super aufgebaut.

  27. here you see what I mean, maybe you can change that, if not, it's not a big deal but there are many things I like more in your plugin + rewind function is disabled + Skipping to the next episode is blocked + it feels like real live TV + your gui looks better +it is easier, to select individual episodes all in all, a very good job record pseudotv.mkv record virtualtv.mkv

  30. Yes, this is what we are reporting. Even though I have correctly set the 'display' in the client to match the actual TV capabilities (1080p/Non-HDR/8Bit in mycase) emby is still 'Direct Playing' a 4K HDR/DV. The scaling doesn't seem to be an issue, it's the tonemapping that is the problem. Thanks !

  32. This is indeed great news - I'm looking forward to this I hope we get an API interface as part of the new feature set - allowing us to create our own dynamic smartlists via plugins/scripts and display the results as home screen rows - this will be a real game changer imo.

  35. Usually, I just write something like "Create art for a collection of movies from the 1970's" Usually there will be text that comes out wrong (like in your example) but I will just type "regenerate" until it gets the text correct and has an image I like.

  38. You have created a really great program! I set up my hi-fi board so that I could integrate it well. I also organised a small mini-computer and bought an old used monitor. I had converted the individual wooden elements from an old farmhouse cupboard into this board. Thanks to your program, I was able to give my small home cinema an extra touch that not everyone has. A really great visual upgrade! Can I still suggest an improvement? How about displaying the remaining playing time instead of the playing time? Include the icons for new sound formats (DTS:X and Atmos) and image formats (Dolby Vision)? Perhaps hide the time/date in the top right-hand corner (the time is now displayed on thousands of other devices)? Instead of the time, perhaps a slimmed-down version for the statistics for nerds to show the bitrate of picture and sound? If you could provide a PayPal account for your coffee fund, I'd be right there to donate something (or a small Amazon voucher). I'm so happy with this program. It's now an integral part of my home cinema and can't imagine lwithout it. Greetings, Teddy

  39. When you have HDR content that needs to be converted for any reason. The only reason to disable those is if you are having a problem with them (like the machine doesn't have enough grunt to do it).

  40. Hello, When adding a Movie or TV Show to the manual Top picks it breaks the thumbnail image which is displayed in the continue watching section. The web browser developer console states "Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found).", going to the URL requested displays a blank web page with the following text "The file '/cache/images/enhanced-images/8/8bf87df86099eb110ae364397c97bc6c.png' could not be found.". Navigating to "/var/lib/emby/cache/images/enhanced-images/8/" on the computer hosting the server verifies that the file is not present. Changing the image via the edit images GUI does not fix this. The Top Picks library (Created by the plugin) loads the thumbnail correctly and the image is loaded from the following URL (serverip and port) /emby/Items/8130/Images/Thumb?tag=00705a9ca08fc4be3d9d1ebee3c6ea55&quality=90 The TV Shows library is requesting the broken (missing thumbnail) from (serverip and port) /emby/Items/7310/Images/Thumb?tag=8bf87df86099eb110ae364397c97bc6c&quality=90&maxWidth=350 Server version: 4.8.5.0 Top Picks version: 1.0.0.60 Log file attached. 41. Except that "recently used" is only one item, which is unlikely to be particularly helpful - if I'm adding a lot of things to one collection I'm probably multi-selecting them. Having a small selection of "frequently used" might help some people, but I can't imagine that cropping up much either. And if you want a collection that isn't your most recently used collection, you now have to do significantly more scrolling than previously. It's a massive pain in the ass.

  42. I personally do not like the list view. I like the grid view better, just my 2 cents.
    1 point
  43. I guess you're asking the OP, but all I see is acres of wasted space - Having Recent at the top is good idea though. How about going back to the grid but the first row consists of recent items ?
    1 point
  44. Why was this changed? The full-page view was much easier to navigate through vs this list.

  46. Having the same problem. Checked the permissions on the media folder under control pannel > shared folder (highlight the selected folder where your media is located) hit edit>permissions (in the picklist select "system internal user") THAT is where I found the emby server user. Checkmark the Read/Write permission under emby and hit save. Go back to the emby app and presto! I can select the file paths now. That worked for me. Hope that helps.

  47. This may sound a little nit-picky, but hey, if we can't be nit-picky when we're trapped at home with extra free time, when can we ? I was just curious if there might be a solution already available that I'm not seeing. When I browse to my Emby Music Library, the "recently played" tracks appear individually. I suppose these days nobody listens to full albums anymore, so I might be identifying a problem that doesn't exist for many folks.... but I'd find this area a heckuva lot more useful if it grouped tracks from the same album together. Is there a setting for that somewhere? Maybe what I'm looking for is something more like 'recently played artists' or 'recently played albums'. Does that make sense? Thanks!
    1 point
  48. I would like to be able to change the 'recently played' and 'frequently played' lists on the music home page to show as Albums instead of individual tracks. I pretty much always listen to music an entire album at a time so it means my 'recently played' list is just a reverse order list of the last album I listened to. Frequently played would be more useful to me as a list of albums as well. Thanks for all the work you put into emby!
