  1. Bingo! My household has 6 people with multiple TV's, xboxes, windows PC's, tablets, phones, etc. It's the reason why I hate that they removed the option to upgrade to 45 device lifetime. I only share with 2 family members outside of my household and their usage is very light. For me it has nothing to do with selling access or sharing with a huge number of people. It's about being able to share with a handful of people and letting them watch on whatever device they want without worrying about hitting the device limit. Resellers do exist, but I don't think they're all that common. We can't have nice things because of the very small minority that might take advantage or abuse it.

  3. The biggest problem with the device limit is that it takes a week for one to drop off, when they should reset every day. This is just a stranglehold to extract more money, the proof is they took the lifetime device upgrade away. If I was paying a sub for emby I would have been gone a long time ago, especially considering it takes forever for them to fix the problems they create with each release and LiveTV has not worked properly the almost 5 years I have been using emby. I love emby, use it every day even though it has lots of issues. Luckily the device limit does not really affect me as only my wife and I use it in the house on only 3 devices and my family and friends that use it usually use it on only 1 TV and not that often. It helps that I have most of them on Firesticks because I bought that app and a lifetime Premiere, but if I hit the device limit I would be peeved considering I do not use it for anything illegal.

  5. AI at it's best - All that does is flush the DNS cache - you are not even using DNS for an IP address based connection.... I suspect it will break again as you have an unstable connection - I suspect it's likely the wifi connection.

  6. Thanks for the insight. So, this is what I did: I created a separate user since changing Emby's runtime user seems to be challenging. I installed sabnzb, installed Emby, added the Emby user to the new group I created, and then set the ACL permissions. Everything worked fine after that. I also installed radarr, sonarr and other arr stuff. All good now.

  7. DV profile 7.6 is a dual layer profile that typically can only be played on UHD players. dvhe.07.06 This string represents a dual-layer Blu-ray HDR10 compatible Dolby Vision stream encoded as 10-bit HEVC video with a level up to 3840×2160 at 24 fps. If you want to play these files you need to use the scene tools available For more reading. And a reddit post about how this is impossible to play on Android.

  8. Hi, we'll take a look at it. Thanks.

  9. That's complete horseshit and we all know it. @ebrYou're entirely unwilling to explore providing this information in any way. You have been for at least a decade. You repeatedly quote that its for 'security' but refuse to explore any methods of providing that information securely. There are several ways you could do this. For example: provide a form on your site; enter premier key, receive email to the addresses used for purchase with even the most basic of information 'x of y slots in use' Or As discussed many times already: have the public api call that's already asking for permission to use premier features return an integer instead of just true/false. =the number of slots in use. There's no need to expose any harmful or personal/identifying information. We don't need individual device IDs, IP addresses, hosts, etc. Just a single integer: how many slots of your key are currently in use.

  10. I complain a lot, but truthfully I'm exasperated as I've been asking the Emby devs for audiobook support since October 2017, which is four years before Audiobookshelf ever existed. So when a dev here says "Why do you think it doesn't work well?" that just hits home how they never used it for that before. Making separate feature requests for individual improvements at this stage is like picking what color paint to use on a house with no electrical wiring or plumbing. Sure, it works as a shelter but it doesn't have the necessary amenities. If the person building it never actually uses it enough to notice what's missing, there's no way they can know what people who do use it actually want. Plain and simple, audiobook functionality on Emby is ugly and barebones for a lot of reasons, and it won't improve until the devs actually use it to listen to audiobooks. Meanwhile:

  11. I think that it would be a good idea if Emby rethinks the way it looks at audiobooks. Currently, it would seem that Emby is treating audiobooks in the same way that it treats music. While I understand the ease of this for the programmers, as they basically just use the same a mp3 player as they would with music. I would argue that audiobooks should be treated more as TV series than albums/cds. 1) With an audiobook divided into chapter each chapter would be treated the same way as an episode in a TV series. With Emby marking each chapter as played or not, and remembering where in the chapter that the user stop listening. For those who don’t have their book broken into chapter Openaudio is a great program for this, and I am sure that there are others. 2) Treating each audiobook as an individual series would allow for a continue listening (instead of watching) row on the main page. 3) It would also make it easier to navigate audiobooks as the audiobooks page would first display the books themselves and not the author. Having the ability to sort by author is nice but not a necessity when looking for a title. 4) With treating audiobooks in this manner, one could also then set up “collections” such as “Harry Potter” or “Sherlock Holmes”. 5) Emby would then get rid of the “shuffle” button on the play menu inside of an audiobook, as this is unnecessary in that you don’t shuffle a books chapters (unless someone really wants a head trip) like you would the tracks on a cd.

  13. Ooooh... that project took on the "implement all the extra logic" problem that I shied away from. It's interesting to skim that proj readme. They did what I thought I would have had to do to implement some of the more challenging logic operations -- they load your entire media library into RAM and then process it in memory themselves. I got to a similar conclusion and I decided, "nope I don't need that" and they decided "yup, let's do it!" I just skimmed the docs and the setup but it probably will handle all of your desired use cases around media age, etc. Honestly, if I had found that project before I went about writing this, I'd have probably just used that instead. If you just want to filter and delete using the emby api, this is the tool for sure. If you want to apply logic on top of the filtering, that's definitely where you hit the limitations of this tool. I did a few extra logic tests for tags/favs/and some age/date stuff, but not much. More date logic tests I can definitely get behind. But things like "watched by everyone" or "watched by this subset of users", etc. is not on my roadmap (mainly because in my setup I don't need it).

  14. I took a look at that github proj. I see what you're after. The Sonarr api provides the tvdbid and the Emby api provides the tvdbid so that would be your link without much trouble. I won't be implementing these types of integrations but would most certainly accept PRs that add them as extra, optional flags.

  15. Honestly not sure why it takes so long. I tried smarters pro and it works, but takes a few minutes to load. Even if I try to open the link directly to download the M3U it takes a few minutes to load. I could do the file way, but I would lose the auto update list feature which I want to have.

  21. Not really sure you can put a duration on a remux operation. It's related to the size of the source file, media source (hdd/ssd) etc I can assume you that remuxing a 100 MB MKV on an NVME is of magnitudes faster than trying to remux a 100 GB MKV on a slow HDD ..

  22. Ok seriously. Do I really need to buy another 25 lifttime license, and rotate it every 6th day. Guess 2 x 25 will get me 50 users. And with clients only asking every 7 days, I'm good.
    1 point
  23. It is not. It is the actual reason. The additional information that goes with it though is that doing anything about it takes time and resources and we have better things to spend that time and resources on right now. The percentage of legitimate users of the system who need more detail like this is extremely small. The dash already tells you if your are close to or over the limit and that is all the information that most people need to use the system as intended.

  24. Just to update on this. Something seems to have resolved it. I assume server side updates wouldn't have any impact on this an I'm no aware of the LG Emby app having any updates. But I did get a firmware update for the LG TV which took it up to WebOS 23. I have gone from being able to consistently recreate this problem to now not being able to create it at all. so I have no idea what fixed it or what the cause was. But it seems to be okay for now.

  26. I gave up yesterday afternoon/evening. I removed all reference to Emby on the Synolgoy after removing it via the Package Center. I did a "fresh" install of the latest version and re-added my libraries and configuration manually. So far the latest version seems to be working ok. The only bad thing is we lost all our favorite marks etc.

  27. Thanks, remember I am viewing on LG on horizontal view mode. Just a pain the way it resets to top of library list when navigating back from an artist (or when music vide has played and you press back). Great if you could fix and make usability much better as a result.

  28. Can we please have the A-Z picker down the side of the screen like Android TV app does for the standard Android App and LG app when in Horizontal view. In this view teh libraries of Msuic Videos and Audiobooks use FOLDERS and FOLDERS view does not have the picker. Its really bad UI without it.
    1 point
  29. I'm happy with the current FOLDERS view when in Horizontal view, but just missing the A-Z picker. In my FOLDERS view, my folders are named as GENRES (Pop, Dance, R&B) with Artists (For Music, Music Videos and Audiobooks) and for TV library, its GENRES again for folder name then the TV Show name for TV library (e.g Band Of Brothers).

  31. There's no Law & Order from 1999, there's either: Law & Order (1990) or Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999) Considering you already have Law & Order: SVU, I'd assume that 1999 should be original series from 1990, hence you should rename that folder to: Law & Order (1990) [tvdbid=72368] (Before Re-scanning, delete any existing NFOs if saved with media).

  32. Doing some simultaneous testing. Scenarios are.. -add new Movie that is also part of an existing Collection -allow regular Subtitle Download task to run (trigger is default=24 hours) -1. Windows, Kodi 21.0, E4KNG 10.0.18 -Movies are added as expected, ~seconds after the Emby server has added them. -Sets do not seem to be updated automatically. Refresh Boxsets option fixes this. (I don't care, much - this is fine) -Subtitle Download task does not seem to cause a need to Sync at all (good?). -2. Android (NVIDIA Shield), Kodi 20.5, E4KNG 9.4.21 -Movies are added as expected, ~seconds after the Emby server has added them. -ALL Sets are refreshed with every singular Movie update, per the log. -Subtitle Download task on server causes a need to Sync on this client - usually around 400-500 movies or roughly 1/3 of the complete library. So - much improved with version 10.0.18 of the add-on. Will need to get moving on an upgrade across the house.

  34. I fight with Emby developers often. I never fought with Plex developers, they just either did nothing or banned me for mentioning Emby. It was very frustrating to deal with Plex on any level. But dealing with Emby is at least a continued give and take. They may take offense at some of the things I say but I also take offense at some of the things they say. It is a robust give and take and, with Plex, it was all giving on my side and taking or theirs. Emby is mostly fun but Plex was almost never fun.

  36. As it happens I am up against exactly this issue, so "me too!" I can confirm that using the form Items?<itemid> does give a 204 but in fact does apparently nothing (does not delete the item). 38. "The main reason we do not provide a way to do this at this time is security and privacy." Meaningless. You can see if a device is playing live TV, if it is doing HW transcode, if it is downloading files, etc. premiere functions at that very moment. What sense does it make to excuse that it is for privacy/security when a count could be made if you are aware of the use of each one 24 hours a day? Find a better excuse

  39. You will never know, they don't want you to know what devices premiere uses, ask yourself why

  40. You're getting closer. Look into Sonarr and Radarr since SANnzbd is not really suited for media file management. Multiple users are not a problem, here's an example of how to permanently make the files and directories accessible to all of them: https://emby.media/support/articles/Linux-Unix-Permissions.html?q=linux You can change the runtime user and group for emby. If you decide to make this change then BEFORE you start the server you have to also recursively change the ownership of all of the files and directories in the EMBY_DATA location, usually /var/lib/emby, and any other paths you've modified already. How to edit the Emby server service unit so that it doesn't revert after an update/upgrade. But in your case you want to edit the User and maybe Group values: [Service] User= Group=

  42. I note since recently that on the Person Page, the media that the peron is also in has now been combined. Is there a way to have it as seperate Movies and Shows again. It is very unstructured now, and hard to get a grip on viewing a persons other material. Sorry if this is in the wrong section. I have a linux server and could find nowhere else to post
