Yes, this is something currently under discussion internally as well. Since this item is actually our largest cost (other than labor) and not everyone uses it, it may make sense to align this cost to the ones who actually are using it. This could also possibly allow us to offer this data in more regions.4 points

Every time there is any kind of excuse, Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, give an old man a hug day, adopt a warthog or any other minor holiday that crops up we have people crawling out of the woodwork looking for an excuse to pay less than everybody else for what are already vastly under priced products. I actually wish Emby would never make "special" pricing, it just complicates things and the amount of money saved is trivial.3 points

Collections and Playlists are exactly that a list of items. Only space they will take up is the size of the nfo/m3u files and some images for display. Playlists found in \programdata\data\playlists or userplaylist and Collections found in \programdata\metadata\collections (path varies per platform)2 points

Actually, I believe that people who don't use Live TV should have a say about whether to increase costs just for it or abandon it altogether. Some of us use it as a daily driver for our TV needs, both Live and recording, and have been using it for years. As for there being "other programs that handle Live TV", who wants to jump around from app to app to enjoy some entertainment?2 points

I have been using the finamp app for jellyfin and I think emby needs to create its own or even clone this as jellyfin comes from emby's code so should not be too hard I believe. The reason I am writing this is because emby needs a separate music app which me and others have been requesting for a long time and even though finamp is not complete it has been great for daily use compared to the full emby and jellyfin apps. Thanks1 point

I don't know for sure. I know that has always been the thinking, but I don't know if anyone has recently tried mkv successfully1 point

ok thanks for confirming - as I said, I haven't used the LG Emby App for years - DV only used to work for MP4 and TS but that may be a WebOS limitation rather than Emby. I'll do some testing tomorrow and report my findings ..1 point

As I said, this is not the solution in my case. Emby is working now. I uninstalled the app and then I found and deleted the invisible .config folder. I reinstalled Emby with a new user name and repopulated the library. When I opened Emby on my Shield the server was immediately recognized -- no problems.1 point

Finally I could solve my problem. It wasn't the emby container but the nginx proxy manager. When I disabled It, the size diminished from 90% to 19%. The problem only occurs un ngnx proxy manager when I set a proxy un emby from nginx. If I don't do that, It doesn't write into my docker.img1 point

To a point too many options are lumped into Premiere and should be their own monthly cost. Guide data TVDB v4 As the devs can't absorb the cost of all provider data.1 point

Well I started on vinyl in the early 70s. The first CD player I had was in 1990 when my new car had one. In 2000 I took the time to digitize my vinyl collection that I could not get on CD and I still have some of those rips even though I was able to replace many over the years with CD versions. About 2007 I got serious about tags as my collection had ballooned and all was in digital on hard drives because I finally started using music in a way I wanted album art and tags. Getting the album art was the hardest back in the 2000s and many times for obscure music the images you could find were hand held photographed vinyl covers that were not even square. It was then I learned Photoshop to correct these rare photos I was able to source. I scanned all my personal CD collection but things obtained online had to be found and corrected. I spent about 8 months every evening for many hours and then lost that hard drive. Luckily I had the music backed up, but I had to start all over again. Now I keep multiple physical backups of everything important. Ever since about 2012 I anytime I get a new CD I immediately rip it and use CueTools to to organize it, adding all appropriate release data. Then I load the tracks into Tag&Rename to finish off and fine tune the tags into a uniform consistent form across my whole collection. I hate finding tags where there are "dashes" where they should be none or vice versa. Unfortunately I have to go through the whole collection again since emby does not play my lossless format of choice without transcoding. I spent a long time putting all my collection that is lossless in WavPack because it is superior to FLAC but emby does not support it so now I have to go back and rip everything from WavPack into FLAC which also means I have to make sure the tags are all correct once again....so too much work for the moment. I will revisit it when I am caught up with movies. My biggest problem with emby is how it handles music. It thinks like a ADD child who only cares about tracks. I come from the period of Album Rock and listen to albums, not tracks so music should always be sorted GENRE>ARTIST>ALBUM>TRACKS. The availability of individual tracks online has done great harm to the music industry and unfortunately many people these days miss those obscure deep album cuts that are often better than the radio hits. It is a shame actually.1 point

Try accessing with Opera with VPN enabled, this will give you an external ip adress and you will see if you're reaching the server or not even being on a local network. Please be aware that you may access through Opera to the adress http://app.emby.media not HTTPS as this si not supported by the server and will not be able to reach it. Hope this helps.1 point

I suggest you to enable SSH in the interface, and instead of using SSH commands, download and FTP client like Firezilla that supports FTP over SSH and then use this configuration, of course replace the IP for your IP, but leave the other things the same as in the picture: Then you will only need to navigate through the ftp interface to the mentioned folder and download locally the txt file: Hope this helps you to not deal with SSH commands1 point

Ya got that right! It's taken me countless hours of time cumulative over many months away from my loved one [lol] to properly organize and tag my music library. Like you I've been at the digital music game since the very first CDs ever released I bought to play on my 1st gen Magnavox CD player they released, up to hundreds of purchased off HDTracks today. My count is @ 2078 artists, 5780 albums, 50221 tracks. I used a bunch of freeware/community supported tools, to paid tools to get it done. As you're already aware of, massive effort, but I'm so very happy to have such a clean directory structure and well tagged library now. Just saying don't get overwhelmed that it's too much: "You can do it!" [said in the voice of Rob Schneider in some of the stupider Adam Sandler movies -lol ], when you're ready. BTW, I should elaborate my prior statement. The use of Folder View is limited to when I use Emby for music. I don't like album view for more reasons than this. But when I use Roon, I'm in the same boat as you. As they are philosophically and aggressively against ever allowing Browse by Folder (they do have a thing called 'Focus' that could be used to come close, which I'm not too thrilled with, but I digress). So in that case for the few dozen HD albums that were tagged the same as other formats causing conflict I utilized a batch tag editor to alter the album name to include the format. So that didn't take too long, in my case at least.1 point

If you disable the transcode option per user you will see reason like this but nothing is actually happen. But the reason would mean the encoding level is supposedly not supported by the client. So you can expect playback issues. But exact info you need from the file media info and the specific client playing it. Already does that per the Transcoding page (Hardware Acceleration). Yes client capabilities are known to the server and then decide playback method. There is no correct answer as every produce does something different so what work for Android will not necessarily work on Apple. As to why depends on the client but a container swap is meaningless as it is copy/copy for audio and video. But from a steaming standpoint it could be the player does not have direct access to file and requires the server to stream it. So lots of information is needed to figure out why.1 point

Mostly it's about playback. In shield app by pressing UP, show chapters, here need to do more to get till chapters. For some shows i want to get till Intro chapter to skip beginning. Also all functions what in web browser. It's too many, like Download, Convert e.t.c. In app need minimum, just for playback. As admin user, can accidentally do something wrong, like delete something. Can't replicate, but when I tested before creating this topic, was something wrong with sound. I have 5.1.2 sound, but it played for some reason in stereo 5.1 sound. So need to simplify your app. For me, it's just web page in app. In app I want to only watch stuff. All administration jobs, converting downloading, e.t.c. in web browser. Sorry, @Luke . My thoughts.1 point

Well it exist per providerid. I guess you could make up your own ids but then you will have to live with the log errors for fake ids. I guess there would technically need to be a customid field for personal people.1 point

A little while ago, my friends were browsing movies and came across a photo of an adult actor. They don't have library access and even tried to block it with tags, but it still shows up. Please solve this problem quickly...1 point

Downloading a file from Emby using the Edge browser on my Windows laptop gives me speeds of around 80 MB/s while wired directly into the switch the Proxmox is connected to. I guess that proves it's not really a network bottleneck, but an issue with how Emby communicates to my NAS (like @rbjtech alluded to earlier)? Next step is to create a local Emby library on the SSD Proxmox is installed on and try playing a high bitrate file from there, taking my NAS out of the picture. I'll update tomorrow after the files copy over.1 point

Thank you for insinsting and pointing me to the json convertions. Indeed there is a problem in PHP if you use a 32 bit version or on a 64 bit an older 7 version. 64 bit and actual version 7 or better version 8 can handle big int and big floating correctly (not loosing precision on some values) ... BUT this was not the issue. The problem was not on decoding (it does not really matter if associative or as an object and only on decoding you can use true for associative), encoding back to json was problematic as I did a mistake with copy&paste for the second parameter. On encoding the second parameter should be "JSON_UNESCAPED_UNICODE | JSON_UNESCAPED_SLASHES". That way no conversion or escaping of symbols or slashes will happen as otherwise would cause the API to fail on URLs ( for example "ExternalUrls":[{"Namw":"IMDb","Url":"https://www.imdb.com/title/tt01234567"}] ). After replacing the parameter in the encode function all is working with the "/Items" endpoint. As the undocumented "/emby/Users/<userId>/Items/<itemId>/UserData" is also working with just the "UserData" portion (even with the wrong json convertion as no concerned fields), is there a possibility to send this as a GET instead of a POST? It would be much faster and simpler for mass mutaions. I tried to add the json part in the URL as a "data=" parameter (also as a "json=") without success. It seems that the API is wanting strict a POST request .1 point

Ok, the next thing is that I'm a little suspicious of is your json encode and decode process. Based on the documentation, I expect UserData to be an object, not an array, but I see you manipulating the UserData as an array in php. You may need to use json_encode($emby_data) (remove the 'true' flag) when decoding the response from the initial get, then manipulate $emby_data as a stdObject instead of an array ($emby_data->UserData->PlayCount=1). It's possible that decoding all/part of the response to a php array as instructed by the associative=true flag is creating a problem for you when you then re-encode that restructured data back to json to POST to Emby.1 point

Found the problem, it was missing a parameter. Strange that it worked with my server but still. Old params = {"MediaSourceId": item["data"]["PlaybackInfo"]["MediaSources"][index]["Id"], "IsPaused": IsPaused, "PlayMethod": "DirectStream" if not transcoding else "Transcode"} if PositionTicks is not None: params["PositionTicks"] = int((PositionTicks * 1000) * 10000) new params = {"MediaSourceId": item["data"]["PlaybackInfo"]["MediaSources"][index]["Id"], "PlaySessionId": item["data"]["PlaybackInfo"]["PlaySessionId"], "IsPaused": IsPaused, "PlayMethod": "DirectStream" if not transcoding else "Transcode"} if PositionTicks is not None: params["PositionTicks"] = int((PositionTicks * 1000) * 10000) "PlaySessionId": item["data"]["PlaybackInfo"]["PlaySessionId"] --> was missing, now it works again as it should. Thanks for the help1 point

Hi, Yes, the issue is ongoing. What I'm not certain is whether the issue is directly realted to these titles or not. What I mean is, I haven't verified playback on every single film in my collection. But, I have been using emby for quite some time and this is the first time I've noticed playback issues. The issue appears directly related to blu-ray rips of Army of Darkness using passthrough. DVDFab offers this option and MakeMKV also provides this option. Meaning, I ripped these same blus using DVDFab to other formats (not passthrough) and the playback issue didn't appear to be occurring. Army of Darkness Theatrical cut - Stops at 41 seconds. Ripped multiple times with DVDFab and once with MakeMKV. Army of Darkness Director's Cut - Video stops at 38 seconds. Audio goes on for a few more seconds. I also noticed the video locking up at the end of the film too. I didn't see this with the other cuts. Army of Darkness International Cut - Stops at 41 seconds. What I did notice just now is that on the Emby dashboard the movie acts like it is still be streamed but the counter keeps going back to around where the playback stopped. i posted a video showing the dashboard. It seems like I can work around the issue for now by just skipping the beginning or playing the movies in my blu-ray player. I guess this also could be a chrome issue... I'll play around with other browsers and see if that makes a difference. VID_20240325_111859256.mp41 point

The cause of the inflation is not the point - its costs bear on the Emby developers just the same as on the rest of us. Paul1 point

Why do you think Emby do not have costs ? Emby is not 'just a piece of software'. Hosting, Development Licenses, LiveTV programe data provider, Metadata Providers, Developers (they don't do it for free) not to mention corporation tax etc .. After 6 years of no price increases, I don't think it's unreasonable to review this imo.1 point

Hi Luke, unfortunately the playback issues still exist in the 4.4.3 release. Personally this seems like either a client side exoplayer issue, or an issue with the detection of the client capabilities when it comes to deciding whether or not to transcode.1 point
