Why do you think Emby do not have costs ? Emby is not 'just a piece of software'. Hosting, Development Licenses, LiveTV programe data provider, Metadata Providers, Developers (they don't do it for free) not to mention corporation tax etc .. After 6 years of no price increases, I don't think it's unreasonable to review this imo.

I'm not sure if anyone has noticed but over the past few years prices on just about everything have gone up - a LOT. Also not sure if anyone has noticed but our price has remained constant for about six years now. We are working internally on how to continue to provide everything we want to in the current economic environment. We'd like to not have to raise our prices but all of our costs have gone up - again a LOT. So, it is possible that more things will require Premiere or that some things will have some other additional cost in the future. We don't have it all worked out yet but some sort of changes are going to have to come to adjust to the changing times. Thanks for your support.

I can confirm I run emby on an old i5 4590 hp g800 sff with a 1050ti and a 230w psu xD I plugged it 4 old usb drives 2 for content 2 for backups and it runs fine so far. The only thing I would change in this setup is using a better power supply since 230w is a bit under powered to have a gpu in the system but the machine I got used has been working for almost 7-8 years now. Something to keep in mind if you want gpu related features to perform well. If you don't want to bother with another machine for whatever reason and have set your eyes on this one already you should be fine for the most part except maybe for multiple people playing 4k content or very high bitrate media. Maybe an external gpu could complement that but currently the price point is so prohibitive you would be much better off building something from scratch. Keep in mind that most hp machines have proprietary plugs for the power supply and depending on the form factor you can be very limited in terms of what upgrades you can do over time. All of that to say that if you got it for free you should use it but if you find yourself limited in certain regards after testing maybe you could try to salvage all the parts you can and transplant them into another box. That would be the most cost effective solution at that point.

You really think it's a monthly payment? That would make a single app as expensive as Premiere which unlocks all apps! Of course, it's not like that: a single payment unlocks the app for all devices using the same login to the app store (not just one). Paul

You can create them on your own with Whisper by using Subtitle Edit. Subtitles are considered copyright infringement. If you didn't rip your content with them, or your pirated content did not have them, you need to create your own. The process is fairly easy, and English is one of the better languages for AI to create subs for. They aren't 100% perfect all the time, but extremely close. If the video is too complicated, here is a post from the videohelp forums that might make it easier.

Update - 18 July 2024 OK, so in this update you have the option to Prefer Extended Cast Information So, What does that mean? ADM by default gets the cast as listed from various websites as comma seperated values which it has saved in its database (it doesnt connect to these sites). e.g. for this movie (https://www.jeedoo.com/product/1958794-Big-Booty-White-Girls/) the ADM information server will have added to its database:- the CSV data: Somina, Luisa Rosso, Isobel, Mia Bang, Melanie Crush (Click Details to see this information on the site) ADM will then add the cast Names as Entries, but will NOT assign them with a provider id unless it detects one in the server data directory for that person . To do that you will need this turned on. Without provider ids, the same name will link across all records as tthe same person. A provider id ensures that the person has their own unique record. The feature mentioned here (Prefer Extended Cast Information) will not use the CSV Data, but will check the ADM Server for a data file which contains Actors WITH provider ids, like this: Director: Justin Slayer [IAFDG:2a51536e-201f-4a2d-a6a8-272ba1616184] Cast: Boz [IAFDG:6813ec37-79e0-4c24-a645-912ee51d12af] Cast: H. Partial Prep work is now there for Extended Cast information, this will be another way to get more Provider id's and better Cast records - which in turn enable the correct information to be fetched by Tmdb or TvMaze. Its not working yet, but the ground work is almsot complete so thats why you can see it. This will get know actor names when aliases have been used on dvd releases and use them instead. This can also be achieved with ADMv2's Person metadata refresh, but when this part is ready it will add it at initial import of the movie! 6. Logging has been improved and split accross files of each timestamped activity. Leave dissabled for speed. Use when you want to find out whats not working and why. 7. I have also added a log option to show where the data is missing from the server - log XML Errors 8 Aug 2023 Identified another issue with identify failing, MovieList file lock causing Identify to abruptly fail resulting in 0 results when media adding/metadata scanning at the same time uses the same file. * Added a wait until file lock release to the MovieList (Up to 5 Second delay), should be less than 1 sec for any of the ADM processes. This will also work in scanning metadata and adding items to the library, so *should* prevent anything failing to use the MovieList for lookups. Pleae note: that the speed of the search depends of the words you use, if you use something common such as "girlfriend" then you will get 1000's of results and the dialog may take a few minutes to respond. Not sure as I believe devs comment was toward media info. But all we can do is guess. So the question becomes does fixing media info fix the issue?

i've got the unifi dome 6E, no complaints at all. i bought it to be able to use with a couple of gaming devices. i thought 6E was worth the premium over 6

This would be possible by just favouriting what you want to keep in emby, however this script is more for those who like me have personal content not in sonarr and not in a folder managed by sonarr so you can just blacklist the path to the personal files or turn emby delete to false and then it can only delete the content thats in sonarr. the script is more for people with limited storage capabilities who want to automate the deletion and unmonitoring of watched shows to clear up disk space

I'll probably be upgrading from Wifi 6 to either 6E or 7 myself this coming fall when my house is connected to fiber. If I were to upgrade today though it would probably be Wifi 6E. Netgear wants 2 - 3 times the money for a Wifi 7 router over a Wifi 6E one right now.

Version 3.3.77 seems to have fixed it. DLNA shuffle now chooses a random episode.

If it's a mini there's no internal powersupply. It's an external power brick. I've been running an EliteDesk 800 G2 Mini (i5) without problems for a couple of years but lately got my hands on a G8 with a i7 for free so I upgraded. Only draws 3w when not beeing used.

It should be noted that the very first post does indicate there's no way to revert unless you've backed up your database.

Another update, finally sorted the problem out As suggesting in last post, YES having both folders named "movies" was the issue at the end, now I have renamed it movies2 it has finally picked up the files, and i am able to set new folders within the new hard drive, maybe an issue that needs fixing or notifying users Thanks to everyone who replied back with suggestions

That's so weird. A valid info in database means an invalid icon and a blank record in database is valid for the skin. Sometimes I really love Kodi.

Looks like that fixed it. Estuary no longer displays a blank flag for SDR movies, thanks.

Looks like the individual item statuses have returned to Emby for Android v3.3.77. They are not yet visible in the web app for server v4.8.3.0 (stable). However they are visible in v4.9.0.11 (beta). Thanks for your guy's work @Luke

OK the problem is that is a very old version, things have changed in Emby Server, but we're unable to update the app for your TV because Samsung is no longer accepting app updates for your model year. We are bugging and harassing them to try and get an update out but unfortunately I wouldn't hold your breath. Looks like you can workaround this by not using the symbol, or you could install a newer version via USB: https://emby.media/emby-for-samsung-smart-tv.html Please note that if you choose to go this route, Samsung expires USB builds after 30 days so you'll have to install an updated version every month.

For the record, I would have purchased the device limit extension if there were a lifetime option when I checked. I think the only options were monthly, at least at the time. I'd be happy to spend more money on Emby even though I'm slowly creeping away from it. I wouldn't be open to a monthly fee but I would be willing to buy something. I always think live TV is low hanging fruit for Emby sales. There are/were a lot of cord cutters who still want live sports and such.

I'm sure you are aware that this is simply a piece of software NOT hard goods so the same thing does not apply. On a side note, [redacted] over 90% of the so-called inflation from 2016 to now was and is actually corporate greed.

And you were given the first option. You were the one that chose to use docker. Docker apps do not autoupdate. Emby doesn't, Jellyfin doesn't; Vaultwarden, Radarr, Sonarr, Filebrowser, OpenVPN; all of them do not autoupdate. Thats a function of running apps in docker. Updates are manual, unless you install additional software to monitor docker for updates. So, Congratulations. You'll have exactly the same problem when jellyfin updates and you still have 0 idea how to update a container. (as well as every single one of the other docker apps you're running.) Saving a compose file doesn't magically start itself; you have to run a command to start it. (which you know as you've done it) All you had to do was modify one word in that command. You didn't even have to research or look for additional info: it was provided for you by people that are happy to help with any further troubles. Alternately; I gave you a way to modify a compose file so it updates itself when started instead of additional manual steps. Good luck, you'll need it with that 'I refuse to learn anything' attitude.

Logs and a step-by-step breakdown have been PM'd to you @Luke As mentioned, no errors, the client just ghosts the server.

To update a docker container: Instead of 'docker compose up -d' run 'docker compose pull', then run 'docker compose up -d' again. 'Pull', pulls the latest image. 'up' just starts the latest image that's on the system, and only pulls a fresh one if there are no local image to start. You can also add: 'pull_policy: always' to your compose file to have it always pull the latest image before starting the container.

I did not attach a server log as there are no errors in it. This is not a server issue, but a client issue. Playback begins, the client sends its regular: "2024-03-17 23:08:14.017 Info Server: http/1.1 POST http://‌<host>/emby/Sessions/Playing/Progress" Playback progress posts; then it just stops when the client freezes. No errors or other information reported, it just stops sending requests to the server. Server sees nothing wrong. There are no xbox one logs AFAIK. When I get home in ~4hrs, I can restart the server and replicate this issue before PMing the log, but it's not useful.
