  1. NEWS! A final decision is imminent now. All I can say is that it will be either yes or no - but nothing half-way. No matter how the outcome - at this point I want to say a big thanks to all of you for your interest and for supporting this. Thanks to all the testers who participated in the initial beta for all your work and effort in helping this to become a successfull parrt of Emby. Also thanks to all the nice and friendly users and community members, moderators, admins and fellow developers who I've had the chance to work with and talk to so far, during the past few years! Best wishes, softworkz

  5. Thank you for your support. After updating to version 4.8.3 and rescanning all [TV Show] contents, I believe the metadata has been corrected. Season 8 has been recognized with all episodes displayed correctly. The .info file for S0801 has been updated; however, I'm not sure it contains the same information you wanted to see. 6. Yes... I've also solved that problem. This is like a person who goes to a winery to complain about the quality of the wine everyone is getting, while pointing out that they prefer beer instead. Just go to a damn brewery for Pete's sake... LOL

  8. For someone so unhappy with emby, you seem to never leave. Why do you spend all your time here if you hate the project so much? (you're here literally every single day commenting on something, usually just trying to bring everyone around you down and shitting on other people's opinions) Move on already, clearly this isn't the place for you.

  12. Why is proof a harsh word ? I think all everybody wants is a 100% confirmation that the Mi 4K stick direct plays HD Audio - and the only way to see that without involving tricks played by 'Plex/Emby/Kodi' is to show the 'Audio Input' video overlay from the AVR. We need to see it say - True-HD' with Atmos DTS-HD MA 7.1 DTS-HD X If it says that - then we have the 'proof' - and it now matches the Shield in terms of HD Audio passthrough capability - and we can close this topic.

  14. Excuse my delay to give an answer. I've been very busy from last post. I made several tests. I tried to adapt my synology nas nginx config file to the one in the tutorial Luke posted, but there are a lot of differences and finally I did not dare to. Synology system configuration is very particular and you can crash all system if you don't know exactly what you are doing. I use Let's Encrypt certificate. Ok, it could be the problem. But, finally, I made a test that I think discard a reverse proxy or certificate problem. I opened in my router the emby default port to the server and connect successfully one of my TVs with http from outside trough this port. Everything works fine. The LG tv of my friend can connect but can't play any movie yet. I don't know what more test can I do from my side with this. Anyway, thank you very much for your help.

  15. EMBY SERVER 4.8.1 IS NOW LIVE WITH LOTS OF NEW FEATURES AND IMPROVEMENTS Emby Server 4.8 has been rolling out to various platforms over the past week or so. This upgrade in particular is packed with a lot of new features, improvements and fixes. Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing multiple blog posts to share some of the exciting new functionality that 4.8 brings to Emby and give you a more in-depth look into the features. Today’s blog will focus on two new features: PROFILE PINS With Emby 4.8 you now have the ability to set individual profile PINs. This new PIN replaces the old local network only PIN that existed prior to this release. It is more flexible (works both locally and remotely) and more secure. This new PIN is very useful if you have devices in your home that are shared by multiple users. As an example you may want to put a PIN on your profile so kids in your home can’t just click on your profile and view all of the same media but still allow your kids to freely switch between their profiles on the same device. NOTE: All users (local and remote) must authenticate ONCE per device. Once this initial authentication is done, that user will be remembered on that device and won't require password entry again unless signed out. PLAYLIST SHARING CONTROL Another great feature of 4.8 is the ability to designate exactly what other Emby users you share playlists with. Prior to 4.8, any playlist that was created was available to everyone on your Emby server. Now they’re set up for individual users. When you first create a playlist, that playlist is private to just you. If you wish you can then share it with any user that you would like via the "Modify Collaboration" option. You are able to set it up so that different users have read only access or have view and edit access to the playlist. Please keep in mind that this is only for playlists that were created after the upgrade to 4.8. Playlists created prior to this release will not have this functionality. They would have to be re-created to gain it. NOTE: In order to utilize this feature, you must first grant each user that you want to be able to create shared playlists the ability to share content from the user settings on the dashboard. You can see from the image below that it is simply a checkmark on the settings page. Once that is checked, it is as simple as creating a new playlist and then either right clicking on the playlist or clicking on the “...” menu and clicking on manage collaboration. From there you can easily choose which user you want to share the playlist with and what level of access they have. Stay tuned for a new blog post in the coming days that highlights some of the other awesome and new features of Emby 4.8! For now, we have listed below all the improvements and fixes that were included in 4.8. We as a team are excited to share all of these great new additions with you and hope you’re enjoying the update to Emby just as much as we are! ADDITIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS Add new profile pin feature. 16. I believe a nice added feature is to have the ability to timeout partially watched shows automatically. Being able to set an expiration of resume point on titles. My kids love to watch videos but never seem to finish then, so they have a ton of titles that have resume points. What would be a nice addon would be the ability to either set the resume point to expire after X number of days. By default the resume point will be kept indefinitely. Adding in, let's say, "30" will then set all the resume points last set 30 days ago to expire and the resume point data be removed from the title for the user. This should be a global setting that applies to all users in the system. Wording of the feature can be different. Thanks, \ above1

  17. Similar to this old post, I'm suggesting a tab that would be titled Watchlist and could be placed in between Suggestions and Favorites. The functionality would pretty much be a copy of Favorites, just with a + symbol added next to the heart and other symbols that let you favorite a movie etc. The previous post had mentioned extra functionality such as automatically removing a movie from Watchlist after it has been watched. This would be nice, but is unnecessary because after watching a movie you can simply click the + symbol a second time to remove it from Watchlist. I would imagine this would be very easy to implement as a rebranded copy of Favorites. Adding other features could come later. Edit: added link to old post

  19. Not sure, I just compared the options.xml of my "not working" library to the options.xml for two "correctly working" libraries. The two working ones both had the CollapseVideoFolders and CollapseSingleItemFolders settings as true. Whereas my not working library did not have CollapseVideoFolders but did have CollapseSingleItemFolders. I added it and it worked.

  21. Hello, I updated my server to latest beta version, but it seems to be auto downgrading back down to current latest stable version 4.8.3? Is this expected behavior? Is there a way to disable this from happening? Also, when it gets back to version 4.8.3, I lose access to my libraries (folders are NFS mounts to a separate storage server). I try to add the libraries back manually and get an error that the server does not have access to the folder. However, if I reinstall back to the latest beta, I have access to my libraries again? Thanks in advance!

  26. I'd be curious if this is truly on the radar of "Team Emby" or not. It's obviously a very highly requested feature, and a very marketable feature... so I have to think the interest is there. It'd definitely sell some Premiere licenses. If it were as simple as "steal whatever Jellyfin did", it'd probably be done already right?

  27. Now I see where you are talking about, Folder view and look at each track as it does show 600x600 where the actual image embedded into track is 1200x1200 per the folder image above @Luke per track (folder view) or edit image on any track anywhere vs the extracted embedded image in folder

  37. @bakes82I meant that in the nicest way. The always putting Emby in the bad light while praise the other guys with good light. You come off like a sycophant. One that isn't rooting for the home team. So when you sit in the bleacher section on our side it becomes strange you root for the other side so often. It becomes less about what you post. More about that you feel you must post. Like above all you are the mouth piece for everyone here. There are others. They haven't posted because you sucked all the air out of this thread. You can pick Emby apart but you don't need to repeat the same things over and over to get your point across. We get it. You want things done at the speed of light. Damned how much it costs in dev time. Damned any family time you get to spend there. Everything must be done now. This is a small team really. It isn't some giant behemoth taking investors money with those investors demanding you return on their investment. It is a small team trying to do what you want. But time isn't endless and we all have real lives. There is a multitude of reasons why things take time. I really cannot explain why things take longer anywhere else except Roku. So please take what I say with a grain of salt. I am speaking from my own point of view. Not from the full Emby team point of view. Q) Why cant I know how many device slots are being used for premier? A) Because scumbags exist, read this as people who resell Emby subscriptions commercially to sell content they do not own copyright and then use to their financial advantage. Right now those scumbags have no idea how many slots they use, and then their paid subscribers come here and innocently disclose they bought from scumbags. Because bad people exist we cannot have nice things. Because bad people exist time must be spent chasing down that crap to try to bring it all down. Just stuff like that makes it harder to do nice things. Q) Why doesnt the appletv support DV? A) Because Apple does not make it easy. I do not know the real answer. But I suspect like on Roku, hard stuff takes longer... Q) Why hasnt the UI changed in how many years? A) Not sure I am fully following. Change the UI in which way? Can you elaborate on this? Q) Why cant I kill a stream as a server admin? A) A number of reasons. The client might not be able to be remotely controlled, like Roku. You would have to give a specific example where this happens for this to actually get solved. Q) Why dont movies auto group like series? A) Because movies have alternate cuts, extras, etc and you can already group multiple movies by version in the same folder. There is a plugin that exists can be manually installed that does this. I use that plugin. Luke has also mentioned this is coming in the future. It will make your library scanning take longer when it does. Q) Why cant I pin collections to the home screen A) Because I have no idea what that means. Did Luke add that to some app or say we were going to do that? Does that add more value than other featues being added first. What is the priority you think pinning stuff should be put at? Curious... Q) Why is there no A-Z to be able to quickly navigate to a section of movies/series? A) On which client? Do you mean on Apple TV for all these? I mean seriously I like the way you back to back the questions. More people need to do this. I seriously do not have an answer here. I can guess though. On Apple TV adding 27 small buttons in a row vertically off the left side is harder to do than the other apps? Otherwise wouldn't it already be done? I cannot only guess why. My answer when things aren't done is always going to be because it takes longer or is harder to do which may not be correct for others. I can only speak for myself. You obviously aren't here to discuss things with that attitude. Otherwise why on Earth would you ask me and quote me for the refund. I am the Roku dude. Is the Roku letting you down? Okay, if it lets you down then I fail. So then how can I help you? Otherwise you are just really here to slow us down. It serves no purpose to have this type of dialog just to salt the water and kill all life as your last comment. You were doing good up until the point everybody died. Kinda. Remember we are human beings just like you. So lets talk about your issues. The subpar experience is something you talk about but I do not see it coming from anyone else. How is this subpar? Please give us your honest opinion. Don't say copy the other guys. Honestly give us some kind of idea what you mean. Do you actually drive past though? I bet you stop at that guy occasionally, just to check prices so you can be sure you are selling yours for slightly less on the other corner? Haw.. see, I can joke around too. But seriously lighten up. We aren't crack heads out stealing mail to get your SSI check.

  39. Just for an update, sometime next week we'll have a 4.8.4 maintenance release of Emby Server and we'll try to include a workaround for older apps that can't be updated to newer Emby api conventions. Symfonium is obviously not an older app and I'm working on getting Tolriq the info that he needs. Thanks.

  40. Well boredom may have set in. After reading MrLinford's process of setting up the pre-requisite apps in docker. I decided to transform this into a LSIO docker-mod that will allow simply adding an environment variable to the container definition to have the creation of the container include the apps required. Almost all of this is entirely based on MrLinford's script, diced and sliced into parts that leverage LSIO's standardised structure for customising their containers and some added checks in place to ensure that it wont try and install things if they already are or its not a compatible base image. There is also an option to enable the BifTools stuff to be installed if you wish to use the BIF generator. https://github.com/SimCity/emby-mediainfo-plugin-prereq has all the details on how to use. Quick outline: Add the environment variable to the LSIO Emby container definition: DOCKER_MODS=ghcr.io/simcity/emby-mediainfo-plugin-prereq:latest Optionally, to be able to utilise BIF generator, also add: INCLUDE_BIFTOOL=TRUE Start container. If the container is already running, you will need to restart the container (not just restart emby) for the changes to apply. When container is up, it will also initialise with all the packages and files required for MediaInfo to work. In the settings for MediaInfo plugin, the locations are: /bin/mediainfo /bin/mkvpropedit /bin/biftool

  41. This is why topics like this very seldomly work out as we are way off topic with info unrelated to this topic.

  43. Are people actually wondering what the purpose of this feature is? How do you play video games with other people when they aren't next to you? How do people work or collaborate remotely? How do you have a conversation with someone if they aren't next to you, like phones don't exist? Don't get me wrong, I probably wouldn't use something like this too often because as I get older and more reclusive I don't really have many friends I'd do that sort of thing with anymore... but I can only imagine how some people who do have friends or family, near or far, might like something like this. If nothing else it'd give people the option, in this digital age of ours. What decade are we living in that we don't understand how or why people might consume entertainment/media or interact together when they aren't in the same room?

  44. Yeah, I don't know which is true (incompatibility or broken DB). So what I did was to add a Text column called "Album" to the table, then run an UPDATE - FROM to repopulate it. I was then able to start Emby 4.8.1.0 with no exceptions.

  45. I will guess there is already an incompatibility in downgrading server versions, or your server did not upgrade correctly, and you have a broken database, but dev will have to comment further.

  46. Actually I've been starting to plan this out.

  47. HI, yes given enough demand, more options are certainly possible for the future. Thanks for the feedback.

  48. Having a watch later list can be very useful. I imagine I'm not the only one who spends a lot of time finding something to watch and see a few things that I might want to watch at some point in the future but forget about them if they are not in a list somewhere. Yes you can create playlists, use Favorites or some external list keeping service but they are all more involved than they need to be. Something similar to Favorites in functionality but with the ability to remove items from "Watch Later" automatically after you are done watching them would be nice. And add what you want to "Watch Later" with an easy to access button similar to favorites. Easily accessible, easy to add and remove items. (Very similar to favorites) Removes items after you are done watching them. It should not be affected by a previous watch status, as in if you have watched something before you should still be able to use this functionality.

  49. Personally, I think anything like this should be handled at the display layer instead of modifying the data. The resume point should stay there because it is accurate and it should be available whenever (perhaps you have an item that you always watch from a specific point or something). At the display (app or query) level, however, there could potentially be an option to limit the items shown in the "Continue Watching" section by some sort of time parameter.
