tbh, a simply plugin based on what's already listed in the T&C's will tell you how many 'Premier' licenses you have used and for what. https://emby.media/premiereterms.html Query the API via the \Devices will show all the devices in use - "Name": "Kitchen FireTV4K Stick / Panasonic TV", "Id": "16", "ReportedDeviceId": "****c7d5eccbc397", "LastUserName": "****", "AppName": "AndroidTv", "AppVersion": "2.0.95a", "LastUserId": "****917a0a8548d3a6d8f66f549a084c", "DateLastActivity": "2024-02-29T15:31:23.0000000Z", "IpAddress": "192.168.30.68" Simply setup a lookup of AppName / Last Activity Date vs today date - that will get you the basic number of 'devices' that use emby premier. The complication comes for Premier 'services' - I'm pretty certain this is going to be 'logged' - so it may be a case of looking in the log to see what service was used by what device. Another complication is using a 'paid for' App on a Premier system - I'm presuming that doesn't use a license - but not 100% So it's not easy to get a 'complete' picture - but it's fairly easy to get a 'by device' list as shown earlier in this thread ...2 points

I’m unsure why the date added metadata tag changes when the file is upgraded (like to a better quality). If Emby can remember my watched status, cover metadata, etc etc, why can’t it remember when the movie was FIRST added to the system? If this was fixed, then a movie that was added months ago, when upgraded to a slightly better quality, won’t re-appear at the top of the “recently added” list. The current system of using the file-based system vs a title-based system just confusing and unintuitive to users. Would truly love to see this change. This will bring Emby one step closer to reaching the polish of Plex!2 points

I moved from Plex to Emby and even though I think Emby is superior in its flexibility there are some things I like better with Plex, especially in terms of its looks. This theme is trying to fix that by making it a bit more similar to Plex but with some, in my opinion, improvements. The CSS is attached to this post for anyone interested and below are some screens to show it off Good to know I only use Chrome so I can't guarantee this CSS works as expected in other browsers. If you want the sidebar menu to look like in the screens, make sure to pin the sidebar. Watched badge/banderoll is inverted which means that the badge will not be shown if media have been watched, like in Plex. For desired look, please use the "Dark" theme for both Theme & Settings theme in the display settings. Emby-Stable-style-v3.6.txt1 point

Unless you are using Emby Theatre (via SMB), Kodi (SMB) or AndroidTV using Android 10 (allowing direct SMB access) - then emby traffic will always come from the emby server (in the form of http) thus the emby server needs to get it from the NAS first (in the form of SMB) and then redistribute to the client (via HTTP). This is why direct SMB access is so much better, because the client connects to the NAS direct to get the media data, ie half the bandwidth required, it no longer relies on the emby server to stream it.1 point

I also can confirm the problem described in this topic on both of my LG TVs. But I can see any pattern because it's only happening sometimes... maybe 1 out of 10 times emby starts and hangs in startup screen. Switching back to Live TV and closng the Emby App via "Task Manager" and start it again solves the prob (same on both of my LG TVs)1 point

Hello Luke. 4.9.0.7-beta seems to work fine: connected to the Primare streamer fine and I left it playing music for a few hours with no issues. Thanks for fixing this issue. Interestingly, during those couple of hours of testing, Emby didn't disconnect from the Primare in the way it has been from the Pro-Jekt Stream Box S2. Looking forward to the TruNAS release/beta! Then I can return the Pro-Jekt... Primare never did reply after I provided them with the additional log files that they requested. I thought that they might like to fix the problem in their firmware. AFAIK the mk2 NP5, which is the current production model, uses the same firmware code as the mk1. There is only a mk2 NP5 because the factory producing one of the microprocessors burned down and Primare had to switch to an alternative source, but everything else remained the same including the code. So if this is an issue on the mk1 then it's an issue on the mk2 and they might want to fix that... perhaps all the NP5 owners are using Roon instead!1 point

Correct, you have done nothing wrong here and I did not mean to imply that. My ask was for a legal provider of "catch up" TV that we would be able to integrate with (since that is the title of this topic). To my knowledge, all such providers are violating the bill you cite OR are proprietary to their own systems such that we wouldn't be able to integrate with them.1 point

Question about how emby handles when a root folder is completely missing, e.g. a network share unmounts. From my experience, it appears to wipe the libraries if not caught in time. I know I can script some logic in a cron to stop emby when this happens, but if my experience is correct, requesting a feature request in that if the root folder is completely missing, emby skip said folder.1 point
-
This is already implemented: As long as emby can still see the root folder of your library, but content is missing from it (or its entirely empty), it'll remove the content from its database. If you use for example /mountpoint/movies/; when the mountpoint is dismounted the /movies/ folder disappears entirely. As emby can't find the root folder /movies/ at all, it won't remove the media.1 point

@LukeEven if I put my Trakt TAG back, there is no synchronization. I've restarted EMBY, put back my Trakt TAG and restarted the tasks, but there's no synchronization with Trakt. embyserver.txt1 point

I've just pushed an update for the TV Theme Videos plugin to bring the config pages in line with the new 4.8 of emby. If this doesn't have any major issues, I'll release for the others.1 point

Even the synchronous=NORMAL & the temp_store=MEMORY settings? Just curious because those are not shown in the logs and they have helped in other sqlite-based programs. If they ever become user-configurable, I would like to try it with synchronous set to OFF too.1 point

Hi, @TvDamn I download the exe you provided and copied it to my D:\Test directory and ran it. I got a DOS box that gave me the following Config file missing! Please create the config file: D:\Test\\M3U_to_STRM.conf And paste the M3U download URL in the config file Did you try doing what it shows on screen when you run it?1 point

@LukeI give you all the information you need, so you can somehow fix this bug. I'm really desperate, because using emby (in detail for me primary listing to music and browing through the library and not watching movies) with this speed is not possible anymore. I know my library is large (about 1 Mio files, DB 2.5 GB), but that should not be the problem for a system of this speed (and it was better with the version before)1 point

The index file is generated server side and nothing to worry about. It generates when new themes are added to the host. The the config is broken since the new 4.8 update in terms of your ability to see what's what in the background but it doesn't affect downloads or use. It just prevents you from being able to clear the list and adjust some settings. It's still populating them in the background and the downloads are still functioning. I tested it just this morning. I have a new version practically done, I just need to bring over one last setting to a new config screen, get them tested and they'll be released.1 point

I just wanted to thank everyone that took the time to post questions and those who enjoyed the spirit behind this post. I’m going to lock this thread at the end of the day, but I’ve gone ahead and submitted the questions to @Lukeand @ebrfor answering. We will be sharing some blog posts that dive into these answers as they get answered. I for one am excited to see what they come share with us! Thank you again for taking the time to respond.1 point

Feature Request. A present I have several user accounts setup for family members. When we sit down together to watch a movie we currently log into one account (Mostly mine), so obviously only this account gets the watched status. What happens then is everyone uses my account because there's isn't up-to date and it's "just easier". This results in my account telling me I've watched something when I haven't... I would like the ability to log into my account and select/deselect which other users are present so that when a movie/TV episode is watched together, their watched statuses are updated accordingly? The next time you log in again all other users would have been deselected. It could be implemented so each user account can do this, or only select user accounts can. Even a special "Family" user account, or multiple viewers button as long as everyone's watched status is correct. Even just ticking the users present on the login screen before login into an account.1 point

I get what your saying about missing shows not being listed, which is a whole other can of worms. And it makes sense for future shows as to why the episode link would not work. But If i go into the upcoming list, and see an episode from yesterday or today and click on the link for the episode, i get the content is not available message. i can browse directly to that episode in that show and it is there. I didn't know if that's just how it is or if something is broken. It used to work to take me directly to the episode or even be able to play the episode i think. Ive also noticed it take a while to load this list now after the update and ive seen family members think the app has frozen. It will load the list just takes a while. I'm guessing this is because the list is not generated at that moment instead of being in the database? If so we all really prefer the better old way, i know someone said it was changed due to performance hits. But if i am right then to me this is more of a performance hit and bad experience. Before the update, the list would open almost instantly.1 point

What are you talking about...? '20'? We're talking about how many device slots are in use for each individual premier license key. This information is not currently available to emby premier users. All we get is 'you're not close to your limit', 'you're close to your limit', and 'you've reached your limit'. No actual number of device slots currently in use.1 point
-
@ebr the original request from 7 years ago, that you keep redirecting people too. There's nothing stopping you implementing a simple 'x/25 slots used' on the dashboard. Identifying which clients are using those slots isn't necessary.1 point
-
All anyone has been asling for is a single integer to be reported: how many device slots are in use right now. No identifying info required or requested. Nobody asked for device IDs, ip addresses, client names, users, or anything else; just one single number. Why is this too much to ask for? Turn that Boolean true/false into an integer. Thats it.1 point

Thanks for that, and this link to an almost 8 year request.1 point

EMBY SERVER 4.8.1 IS NOW LIVE WITH LOTS OF NEW FEATURES AND IMPROVEMENTS Emby Server 4.8 has been rolling out to various platforms over the past week or so. This upgrade in particular is packed with a lot of new features, improvements and fixes. Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing multiple blog posts to share some of the exciting new functionality that 4.8 brings to Emby and give you a more in-depth look into the features. Today’s blog will focus on two new features: PROFILE PINS With Emby 4.8 you now have the ability to set individual profile PINs. This new PIN replaces the old local network only PIN that existed prior to this release. It is more flexible (works both locally and remotely) and more secure. This new PIN is very useful if you have devices in your home that are shared by multiple users. As an example you may want to put a PIN on your profile so kids in your home can’t just click on your profile and view all of the same media but still allow your kids to freely switch between their profiles on the same device. NOTE: All users (local and remote) must authenticate ONCE per device. Once this initial authentication is done, that user will be remembered on that device and won't require password entry again unless signed out. PLAYLIST SHARING CONTROL Another great feature of 4.8 is the ability to designate exactly what other Emby users you share playlists with. Prior to 4.8, any playlist that was created was available to everyone on your Emby server. Now they’re set up for individual users. When you first create a playlist, that playlist is private to just you. If you wish you can then share it with any user that you would like via the "Modify Collaboration" option. You are able to set it up so that different users have read only access or have view and edit access to the playlist. Please keep in mind that this is only for playlists that were created after the upgrade to 4.8. Playlists created prior to this release will not have this functionality. They would have to be re-created to gain it. NOTE: In order to utilize this feature, you must first grant each user that you want to be able to create shared playlists the ability to share content from the user settings on the dashboard. You can see from the image below that it is simply a checkmark on the settings page. Once that is checked, it is as simple as creating a new playlist and then either right clicking on the playlist or clicking on the “...” menu and clicking on manage collaboration. From there you can easily choose which user you want to share the playlist with and what level of access they have. Stay tuned for a new blog post in the coming days that highlights some of the other awesome and new features of Emby 4.8! For now, we have listed below all the improvements and fixes that were included in 4.8. We as a team are excited to share all of these great new additions with you and hope you’re enjoying the update to Emby just as much as we are! ADDITIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS Add new profile pin feature. So a quick update to this feature. I've re-written the script to now automatically take all the suitable named playlist files (anything prefixed with [WATCHLIST] <name>) and create libraries from them for user <name> - no need for parsing xml anymore. You can launch it from scripter-x on a schedule - rather than needing an os scheduler Makes full use of the new Playlist permissions - so as an Admin you can give users permissions to make recommendations / watch list for other users. If they don't have access, then they can't add a recommendation for them. If permissioned, they can also view (or edit) other users watchlists. 'All Users' is now 'Spotlight' - and this creates its own Library called 'Spotlight' - I restrict this allow only certain users to add recommendation/content. I'll publish something soon.1 point

It's hilarious you think @rbjtechand myself have no idea what we are talking about, when here you are spewing lies. DV is proprietary, and you need to pay a license fee to have it on your TV's. Samsung, which is the creator of HDR10+, does NOT support DV in their TV's. https://www.techradar.com/news/dolby-vision-on-samsung-tvs-why-isnt-it-supported Again, educate yourself on what profiles there are, and what these profile playback limitations are. There is so much ignorance in this thread with people thinking that their ignorance makes them right, it makes those of us who know what we are talking about want to reach through the screen and slap some sense into you. Not all DV is the same, period. It's like having a technical discussion with a bunch of toddlers. None of you have even done basic research and it's at the point where I know I will be adding more people to my ignore list because your willfull ignorance is so frustrating.1 point
