Emby running in docker with version 4.8.1.0 Since the backup plug-in changed, how it is now possible to restore a specific user? Can't see this. It was possible before.3 points

Idk, I still like the darkest option. The mid-range makes the white '-1' seem brighter to me.3 points

heh, well buddy, we do not use negative system/reaction in this forum, but indeed lately we need to have some kind of icon show the disagree matters, let me think about this and find a good icon for this.2 points

But for a serious answer: I suggested -1 because it's the most neutral way for indicating disagreement and it just complements the +1. I think that -1 is also less negative than "Facepalm" which we have for quite some time now. Heart would be just an educational measure, not a regular reaction. The valid point in adding -1 is that there's actually no way for indicating factual disagreement without any other subnote. Neither confused, nor sad nor facepalm can express that. I'd rather remove one of the latter in favor of -1 (if we had to choose, but we don't have to)2 points

I have no issues with Emby's device limit for home use. However, the fact that all users (including external) invited to my server automatically get emby premiere and count towards my home device limit is a big issue. My suggestion is to allow us to create or invite users without sharing the premiere benefit. Those users would have to unlock their apps to connect to and stream from my server the same way a non-premiere user would have to unlock their apps to access and stream from their basic server. That way, I would only worry about the devices that I have in my household, sharing with family and friends wouldn't penalize me; and Emby would still get paid (through app unlocks). In fact, it would increase Emby's revenues because I'm sure many users like myself are not sharing their emby with family and friends because of the limit, but if they could invite non-premiere users, these additional people would bring in additional income to Emby through unlocks. This is now the only reason I haven't switched over from Plex yet. I have a bunch of family and friends accessing my plex server that if I switched, I would be over the device limit right away. And by the way, those friends and family are paying plex to unlock their apps, and they would do the same for Emby. Thanks2 points

Thank you, that makes sense now. Great stuff! Keep up the wonderful work!2 points

Guys give it up. Physical media will no longer exist shortly, and supporting it is far too difficult. Rip your media and hoard your ISO files. This is NOT going to go the way you like, and we know all you'll do is complain and complain. The rest of us have moved on. It is time you do as well.2 points

/scripts/custom.sh need to be configured by you, some example are there to help you configure this for your need. /hooks can be configured to execute custom code /comskip/comskip.ini can be configured too. you can configure custom.sh with the ffmpeg command you want and adjust quality there.2 points

@jaycedki opened now a ticket on Kaspersky side because i have a purchased license for Kaspersky AntiVirus = KAV 100% is Kaspersky fault here, there are no issues with Emby because I was using a much older version then what has been said around here, i had a 2022 august version installed and even with that version, KAV detected and deleted everything related to Emby. When i'll get any feedback on my ticket, will update here. Until then, to workaround this issues, i added the Emby files (both installed and setup) into Trusted Applications, checked the first 4 DO NOT..., rebooted the PC couple of times and it looks ok, then reinstalled the Emby application, no further detection's so far.2 points

Hi, this has been overhauled for the next update to the Emby apple tv app, so stay tuned !1 point

I wouldn't even bother with waiting years to have them ignore you and not respond it's an insult to you, as my wife says what's on pretend tv on emby lol it's there but don't work. The guide looks great lol but yeah emby is only made for movies and series not live tv they are afraid of change and rather the broken recordings glitching and long start times it's what everyone loves right. Just release what you have to the public I think mediaportal works better for live tv than emby for crying out loud. I run proxmox with every media server on the planet as I like to fiddle with stuff even old servers I like just to test out things. softworkz good luck my friend I think the emby team is giving you the cold shoulder sadly even though it makes them look foolish.1 point

Yes, it's set to English on the Roku TV settings. I'm sure it has to do with the same issue that @Grimmer brought up. It's related to the Roku Emby app. Why does my app on the Nvidia Shield work fine but Roku doesn't? Seems there should be an a fix that corrects that issue, but @Grimmer gave a lot more in-depth answers and that was a year ago and still no solution.1 point

Hey Luke, I appreciate all the work you are doing to make this a better UI, this looks like an awesome feature you have cooking and I would much rather use that than the current reports app I have to use, but you should probably keep both options available as it's just easier to view them within the series. You should keep missing and upcoming with the airdate so we know when the next one is getting released. I think this makes for a more simple user friendly experience for the average user. I don't want to take anything away from what you are also doing with the metadata menu as that is something I have wanted for a long time. Thank you1 point
-
Also, it can directly be outweighed by +1 reactions. It allows for simple math to be applied, so that a -1 wouldn't stand out as a separate thing.1 point

How about -1 - analog to the +1, maybe with some yellow-orange-red (but not too red) background. This would indicate disagreement on a subject without getting too personal, i.e. it cannot be mis-used to discredit somebody.1 point

Personally I would never expect you to do anything like that (I believe you have integrity...) so how can we get this “dual emby startup switch” for us minions? And although I very mush prefer Linux I’ll test this in a Windows 10/11 VM ... Thanks.1 point

Guys, there's no point in fantasizing about such things because I would never do that.1 point

So basically you can run your old TV install, add the new one and run together till any bugs are ironed out, then finally get rid of the old, all pretty seamlessly. Yes I can see why no-one would want that...1 point

Probably easiest to Move the original out of the library, Identify the SE version, then readd the original. As it would be a lot of work going through each episode and clicking split apart. Taskmaster - TheTVDB.com (298905) Bäst i test - TheTVDB.com (325248)1 point

I think I've mentioned it earlier, so you might be able to find it. It's just that as it's close to beta now, I didn't want to spoil it in a side note before there is an official announcement1 point

Until it doesn't. In most circumstances if a router is vulnerable it can expose your network but a bad actor still has to work through it to gain access to other systems, applications and files. But if a router is also running applications, services and has storage attached, well that's a big time saver.1 point

Edited your comment down to focus on the parts I wanted to repond to. But I'd love to have a conversation with you in some form (probably not this thread) about why forking open source software feels like theft to you, and why you feel that jellyfin is untrustworthy, despite all the code being open to inspect and confirm no sort of data is being collected. I mean that completely in good faith by the way, as I'm always happy to engage in conversation or debate when there's conflicting views on a topic.1 point

good grief... its been a while. There are some interesting changes to the backend that I am going to have to try and figure out. We no longer set the Name of the Virtual folder in Library options... wonder where we do that now? EDIT: Found it... Some of our initial asynchronous methods are no longer asynchronous... wonder what is happening there? Can someone try a new version in couple minutes to see what fixed?1 point

Who ever is managing the Unraid container needs to update the "More Info" tab when you click the container in Unraid. Right now it's linked to "https://registry.hub.docker.com/r/emby/embyserver/" and that link is broken.1 point

An updated version of the Emby Open Subtitles plugin is currently rolling out. We have switched from opensubtitles.org to the newer opensubtitles.com This means you will need to create an account on opensubtitles.com and configure that in Emby Server settings. Until you do that, you won't get any subtitle downloads. Stay tuned for more developments on subtitle downloading ! View the full article1 point

After opening and initializing the tuner (always) and receiving the signal from the tuner (+0-1 s), Emby needs to probe the TV stream first. This is done externally by running ffprobe (+1-2 s). Based on the result and the client capabilities, Emby configures ffmpeg accordingly (+0.x s) When ffmpeg runs, it probes the video stream again (+x s), it needs to wait for a video key frame (+0-1s), then it starts transcoding and writes HLS segments to disk, each of which covers 3 seconds (+3s). After the first segment is created and written to disk and Emby has detected that is is available (+0.x s), it is transmitting the first segment to the client (+0-1s). Only then, it's a matter of how fast the client player will show the first picture. TVnext can re-use an existing tuner stream (if same mux). All streams go through the server and are processed and parsed there, so no external probing is needed. The parsing (probing) may take 50-200ms, but TVnext doesn't wait for this. It stores and uses the probe result from a previous playback and sets up things immediately as if that information would be correct. It does that setup at 0T, even before it has received anything from the tuner. Only when it would turn out to be wrong (after the probing results are available), it would abandon the preliminary setup and re-create it (nothing has been sent out to the client within those max 200ms). It does not use ffmpeg for creating segments, it does that in memory instead and it sends out the first segment to the client immediately without waiting for the first 3 second segment to be complete. Then it depends on the client player and how long it will wait (building up a small buffer) until it starts playing. That's roughly why it takes > 8s with current Emby but only 500-1200ms with TVnext (without transcoding, which adds about 1s)1 point

You are probably OK. It really depends on the devices being used. For example what devices does your mother in law use? https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Emby-Premiere-Feature-Matrix Many of the device apps (mobile excluded) will allow basic features and playback without using a premium license. Xbox/Android TV/Fire TV are the exceptions. Mobile apps have additional features that can be used such as sync, camera upload, offline playing, which makes them a bit different. If your friends don't need Live TV and they use Rokus for example you won't have an issue. @@Luke, @@ebr It would be helpful if full playback was available as non premium across the board. That would "fix" the license issue for most people. Premium would then be "actual premium" type features like syncing, live tv, dvr, offline playback. You could throw camera sync/upload in there as premium as well. Taking this a step further: On the server add a checkbox for each user to allow shared premium license (admin's license) use. Admin could reserve premium license counts this way. Add a checkbox for each user "Allow Premium features for Unlocked Apps". Of course allow users to purchase all apps. With those changes the admin has complete control. They could for example keep their own premiere license for their own devices. They could give access to Live TV to a adult brother, sister, mom or dad but require them to purchase their app to use it beyond basic playback. If you brother wants Live TV or Sync on 5 devices, no problem that will be $5 each please. The admin could grant Live TV or Sync to a friend outside their house but not allow them to use their premium license. So the feature wouldn't work UNTIL the user purchased their own app license. Another feature that could be useful for Premium and would be an expansion of an existing feature is Trakt. If this was able to be used by all users then it could also be a source to get people to upgrade to an unlocked app. It would be very cool to allow all users to sync their media watched lists this way. Of course this would apply at the user vs device level but user would have to have one unlocked app or be using the admin's premier license. Something along these lines would be ideal IMHO. It wouldn't scare off people who don't understand the current license plus would open the door to more unlock app sales. Is this something you would consider?1 point
