A fill/fit stretch screen option per app that sticks. Instead of Horizontal/vertical zoom like in the fires tick app. Just a fill/fit screen option, but once it's set it stays set for every film until changed again. Plex had this feature that stuck, and I miss it greatly as I hate the black bars top and bottom and at the moment I have to horizontal zoom/stretch for every film it's so annoying.2 points

Yes, as it's still the best device by far for hevc, DV and HD Audio setups with passthrough to AVR's.2 points

I've downloaded the embyserver.txt just after I started the refresh, I'll leave it a day, then download it again and post it. The database refresh seems to be a known problem, as mentioned here It's not so much a diagnosis of is there a problem or not I'm after. My Emby server has lots of spare resources, I wanted to know if there are any parameters I could change that would help the database refresh speed up, then I could put them back to "normal" values after the refresh had completed. Thanks2 points

Thanks Q-Droid. I've spent hours on this, read through the thread and realised I'd updated everythign, but was using my email, not my username to login. The simple problems are always the hardest to spot2 points

Personally 4.7 does what I need it to do and that's play my media. Sure I'm looking forward to some 4.8 updates (playlists etc.), which I've tested in a beta test docker container. I don't want to upgrade my prod server until the dev's are happy with it.2 points

Yeah workprint versions is not named properly. You may notice the period between The and Punisher The.Punisher (1989) - Workprint.mkv should be renamed to The Punisher (1989) - Workprint.mkv2 points

Install The Emby Discord plugin can be installed using the Emby Server plugin catalog. It requires Emby Server version 4.8+. Contribute https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Notifications.Discord1 point

Thanks so much @GrimReaperI'll have to wait until real late tonight to bother to do that so I don't annoy my users. It'll give me a reason to upgrade from .71 to .73 beta as well.1 point

Hi, all you have do is enable the option to remember selected tracks and it will be incorporated into that.1 point

If you only have the option to create idx/sub and you really want to have subtitles that are the exact match for your rips then have a look at Subtitle Edit. It will scan a file, and extract idx/sub or vobsub/dvdsub, apply OCR to extract the subtitles and will export to srt (and possibly ass - I can't remember), It allows you to view all the extracted subs beside the original before export so that you can review and make any adjustments, and if it finds words that it can't match it highlights them as exceptions so that you can fix them quickly It is an extra step, but with a bit of experience it only takes about 10-15 minutes to make a good set of subs, less than 5 if you don't want to review or correct any issues. As the output is a text file you can always go back later and correct any errors in a text editor, or Aegisub if you prefer to user a more dedicated/interactive text subtitle editor.1 point

Opensubtitles plugin has switched to using opensubtitles.com, you need to migrate existing .org account/create new account there and configure plugin with new credentials (username, not email).1 point

Luke, I am getting concerned. Please reply to my previous post. Is this going to be like eventghost where the project gets stuck on a beta for years and then dies?1 point
-
@Luke, maybe query should be done for "pt-PT" instead of just "pt"? Likely goes for all main languages?1 point

They're sorted according to sonarr best practices. I didn't notice that the show got incorrectly matched and got lost in the library. After sorting the library by newest added I found it and managed to identify it as the correct series. Thanks for your assistance!1 point

Thanks Luke, I'll give the beta a try sometime this week and see what happens. Worse case, I get to make the case to the wife that we NEED a more powerful server instead of maintaining 2 sets of libraries!1 point

Hi. The theme setting is per app and device by design. It is quite likely that you want a different theme on a desktop computer than you want in a movie room. So saving the actual setting will probably stay that way but we could provide a way for you to set a default that is stored centrally.1 point

I searched but couldn't find anything on this. Also not an Emby specific thing, but it would be nice for people that have libraries split up, (sd/1080p/2160p) to not have continue watching littered with all qualities on the serrver. If I start watching in 1080p, continue watching should only show the 1080p version in it, not two or three.1 point

I think if the rewritten live TV code had not been merged, 4.8 would be live by now. Now it's another month sorting everything out. From my experience, other than this live TV thing, 4.8 became very stable and definitely a huge step up from 4.7. So it's a shame it's not released and going through the inevitable teething problems with the wider user base, rather than still sitting in beta hell. (For the live TV, just keep a spare server running with 4.8.64, or a docker maybe)1 point

At present it is not. This is a desired enhancement for those who use the facility for alternate cuts of a movie. As designed, the facility is intended for alternate versions (encodings, that is), and Emby automatically selects the one which it believes will be the best quality that the client and network link can handle. A particular problem is that when resuming a part-played movie, Emby makes its choice afresh (in case the playing conditions have changed), rather than remembering which file it was playing - this means that for different cuts the resume might even be in the wrong place if you don't go through the screen where you can select the version again. Hi, Thanks for your help! It seems to be working now, but I don't know why. I tested several times since Friday, and it sleeps after 30 min. It's inconsistent and I post again if I'm able to reproduce again.1 point

Emby for Windows 1.1.533.0 cannot play music. The app simply crash and close when playing. Restart the PC or reinstall the app does not help. Emby for Windows 1.1.532.0 worked fine for me, but unfortunately apps from Microsoft store cannot be downgraded. If anything this can help you manage the server load and even if you set a higher limit it will stop adding streams well before you have no choice but to reboot. If the server is still responding then you should be able to stop/kill the sessions that aren't really streaming.1 point

"Your account as exceeded the maximum streaming limit set by your Emby server administrator. Please contact them for assistance." Works! Tested on my roku. Started a movie, immediately switched back to roku, started emby again, started the same movie again. Got a popup. The next time her delirium kicks in, this will stop her, and she will probably yell for me, and that's fine. I can take it from there. Maybe I should up the limit to 2 or 3. I'll do more testing. Thanks @Q-Droidthis is a good fix. I can put the HD movies back on! YAY!1 point

HDR10+ builds upon HDR10 (hence the plus ) - the unfortunate outcome of this design is that there is no header-included information about whether a file is HDR10+. The header only tells whether it's HDR10 - which every HDR10+ video is (by definition). To identify whether an HDR10 video also provides HDR10+ information, it is required to read the side data of individual frames. This would be absolutely no problem when processing (probing) time doesn't matter - like for your command line tests - but in case of Emby, it does matter a lot. The difficulties in probing for this are those: HDR10+ information is usually provided on scene changes (or more specifically: changes to lighting). It's not unusual that a scene can last for many minutes or even longer and you cannot take for granted that there will be HDR10+ information close to the beginning. So the first question here is: which duration do you want to probe for? 1min - 5min - 10min - longer? The next problem is that ffprobe doesn't have an ability like "stop once you have found an HDR10+ data block. So you have to probe a fixed interval and analyze the results later. And when you haven' found any HDR10+ information you can't be sure that there won't come any at a later time. So what to do? Abandon it? Or probe an additional interval? As soon as we say we support HDR10+ detection, we need to be sure to detect it reliably - not in a "maybe, maybe not" manner. That would require probing the same files multiple times. Also, the first ffprobe run is usually too short to detect it, because ffprobe stops as soon as it has all the information about the streams. We really cannot run it with a fixed interval because that would blow up library scanning time. Everything we are talking about here increases library scanning time and this has always been a sensible area and focus of user complaints for a long time. That's why there is no HDR10+ detection (at this time). PS: While writing, I had a deja-vu that I've explained this some time ago already? Maybe somebody can find it - it was a bit more detailed IIRC.1 point

It's actually the movies that are inconsistent and not the games, because currently you don't get an accurate folder view. So eventually you'll see your movies library behave like that as well, but I think a user option to auto-enter single items in folders could reduce the extra click.1 point

Connect is completely optional and we are actively seeking ways to provide the same functionality in the system without the requirement for an actual account with us because, with our commitment to your users being your users, that requires two sets of credentials which then leads to all kinds of confusion. The other guys took a different approach which, while not directly related, makes providing the SSL service a lot easier and more palatable for the user. Their entire business model (IMO) is about capturing your users. Its quite ingenious, actually, from a business perspective. They get you to install a "personal" server and then, in order for any of your family or friends to actually use it, they have to sign up with them. Now they have increased their users by an order of magnitude and can use this to present to advertisers, content providers and other partners as "look at all the eyes we can put your [product] in front of". That's not what we're about. All that being what it is, we could definitely do something here. However, every solution we've come up with so far has too many compromises and costs (to both us and the users) for us to go all in on. Not really the thread for that discussion so I'll leave it at that. Carry on.1 point

This will be in Emby Server 4.8. How it Works: This requires that you enable remembering audio and subtitle track selections. this is enabled by default. The server will first check if you've previously played the video file, just like before, and if it has then it will use your previous track selections If not, then it will look at your last played episode of the same series and attempt to use the same audio and subtitle selections. Essentially it will take the languages of the tracks and put these languages at the front of the language priority list.1 point

Hello as title says i stopped using kodi as it crashs more than it plays something - started to love emby again but i realllllly miss one feature sorting my movies by genre & genre Here in emby when i add 2 genres in Filter than it shows me for example all action movies + all thriller movies but with an "AND" modifier i could see only movies that have both genres at the same time for example what i used before: Action - Thriller SciFi - Horror SciFi - Adventure War - Romance Romance - Drama ... etc. - the possibilities are endless please consider this for a future change1 point

Is searching multiple tags possible or planned? For example in my photos, I want to search for pictures that contain the tags of "Joe" and "Jane" to find photos of Joe and Jane together. Currently, I can only search for photos that have either "Joe" or "Jane" which is limiting.1 point
