  1. Connect is completely optional and we are actively seeking ways to provide the same functionality in the system without the requirement for an actual account with us because, with our commitment to your users being your users, that requires two sets of credentials which then leads to all kinds of confusion. The other guys took a different approach which, while not directly related, makes providing the SSL service a lot easier and more palatable for the user. Their entire business model (IMO) is about capturing your users. Its quite ingenious, actually, from a business perspective. They get you to install a "personal" server and then, in order for any of your family or friends to actually use it, they have to sign up with them. Now they have increased their users by an order of magnitude and can use this to present to advertisers, content providers and other partners as "look at all the eyes we can put your [product] in front of". That's not what we're about. All that being what it is, we could definitely do something here. However, every solution we've come up with so far has too many compromises and costs (to both us and the users) for us to go all in on. Not really the thread for that discussion so I'll leave it at that. Carry on.

  3. So this got it working again! I wonder if it might have been that I have the folder name as tvdb=73062 and not tvdbid=73062 I will use that format moving forward. I appreciate your help with this!

  4. Request that Emby server store Dolby Vision (including profile), Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, HDR10+ (smpte2094) and HLG for appropriate video in the db and use it for display in the media info and track selection sections of movie/episode details screen. This information once in the db can then also be used in numerous other areas like: Mediainfo Cover Art, Stats for Nerds, Distinguishing different DV profiles for hardware support and tone mapping Example Mediainfo app display of HDR10+ ffmpeg patch for HDR10+ https://patchwork.ffmpeg.org/patch/11491/ Related requested that may require DV profile information in order to prevent unneeded TM

  5. Not sure if this is the right forum but I assume the xbox app is similar to the Windows uwp app. When playing a video it starts perfectly and if I skip forward once it seems to cope but upon a second skip it crashes back to the xbox dashboard. Happens on both transcoded and direct play. Attached server log and screenshot of video file details. embyserver.txt

  6. I searched but couldn't find anything on this. Also not an Emby specific thing, but it would be nice for people that have libraries split up, (sd/1080p/2160p) to not have continue watching littered with all qualities on the serrver. If I start watching in 1080p, continue watching should only show the 1080p version in it, not two or three.

  7. It's clear and likely a combination of things. Rokus were (maybe still are) known for causing problems when the streams are not stopped a specific way thus leaving active sessions on the server. I don't use Roku so don't know if this is still a problem. Let the devs review your logs. In the meantime you can set a user level limit for simultaneous streams on the server. You can keep yours from reaching too many IF the runaways are tracked. If they become detached then the limit might not work.

  8. I have installed the beta version and the behaviour on the ordering of the versions is exactly the same. I found a workaround though I saw that in the cases where CD2 was ordered first as the CD1 version, the Metadata determination was taken from the CD2 file and not from the CD1 (and this assignement cannot be manually changed). What I did is to click on "Remove Identification" to reset the metadata, this triggers an automatic refresh of the metadata and when refreshed the CD1 file is taken first. I have to redo manually all the versions where the ordering is wrong, but it's ok

  9. Hi, if you think there’s an issue with the plugin then please report it in the topic for the plugin to ensure that the developer will see it. Thanks.

  15. Happy to run a beta version - it is a low-activity home server for myself and easy enough to redo with a stable version later. I will grab 4.8.0.73 and let you know how that works out.

  18. Roku log just sent (1240 EST). I went to check on my son's FireTV and he was actually awake! He got it working last night. Even though we'd tried turning everything off and back on several times, he found out on the TV under settings, device and software, there was a restart. After he did that, it worked fine. Ugh! It's easy to forget that these aren't really TVs anymore, but computers. I didn't try the android app on the FireTV since Emby is now working. Thank you for looking into this though.

  19. I like your proposed solution much better! It's readable which is the main thing. If it did optionally include backdrops I'd have the backdrop to the right or something or above so you can still read it.

  21. Hey @Luke, Love the new look of the EPG for the Apple TV, looks a lot more polished and in line with the iOS app. Just also wanted to check in to see if you’d had a think about implementing alternative guide images when suitable? I got the impression you werent sure whether it was something you would implement is all. Thanks

  23. Thanks a lot for your correct answer GrimReaper. That's the way to do it It's like a hidden gem, when you (as I do) normally only use the arrow keys on my LG remote. When you use the arrow keys to come down to the movie list, it doesn't stop at the Movies header, and then you have to use arrow up, and then the Movies header becomes highlighted. None of my LG users have thought of that

  26. Cannot reproduce on 4.7.14.0, setup test environment with your exact naming scheme, getting Aired order scraped. tvshow.nfo season.nfo Kenny vs. Spenny (2003) - S01E01 - Who Can Lose the Most Weight [DVD][MP3 2.0][XviD].nfo Kenny vs. Spenny (2003) - S01E02 - Who Can Stay Awake the Longest [DVD][MP3 2.0][XviD].nfo One thing I did notice is that season 1 External ID is not written, as in your example: What I would try is: 1. Remove show folder form your TV root 2. Run Scan media library to clear db 3. Rename show folder to: Kenny vs. Spenny (2003) [tvdbid=73062] 4. Delete all existing NFOs (tvshow, season, episodes) 5. Put show folder back 6. Scan media library See what gives.

  27. Have you tried to do a factory reset? Also, I've seen with the 2017s and older that the thermal paste goes bad. Sometimes you have to take it apart and apply new thermal paste to them when issues like this rise up. You could also just try cleaning it out too. Get the dust out of there etc. All of it can't hurt.... only help.

  29. I’m plan on installing a second Emby server on same machine but different folder so I can schedule recording of a certain program that almost invariably fails without interrupting my others recordings or live streams. This will, in theory at least, allow me to continue operating my primary server as usual.

  30. Hats off to @joekingcoolfor all of your hard work on this issue. Wanted to give an update: all of my failed recordings that don’t have the sts error have restarted, which is great! I have had a couple of recordings that restarted and then ran double or triple the length they were scheduled. This is however, something I can live with. I just watch the part I wanted then delete, easy peezy. Can the sts error somehow be added to your program for restarts?

  32. No, during should be fine. What format did you pick during playback that didn’t start? Was that an embedded or external sub?

  33. Thanks @Luke. I was just searching the emby forums & i read the pgs format can do that. I posted in the samsng forum to get Sam & frostbytes help to see what format i can use for the samsung emby theater client.

  34. Thanks - that's very useful. yes the DV data is present with just a show streams, it was the sidedata type using the frames parameter that is key here Hopefully embly can use this to detect HDR10+ as well ... it could just be run as a subset of detecting HDR - so doesn't need to be run for every ffprobe. I'll test this over the weekend. @softworkz@ebr@Luke - FYI

  35. Looking through the Sevarr code, their ffmpeg.core library is looking for the string "HDR Dynamic Metadata SMPTE2094-40 (HDR10+)" in the sidedata which is straight out of ffmpeg. There is a separate ffprobe "GetFrameJson" command used to grab that, which ends up looking like this: ./ffprobe -i "/path to your movie.mkv" -print_format json -show_frames -v quiet -sexagesimal -read_intervals "%+#1" -select_streams v:0 When I run that on the DV/HDR10+ file you posted in that AFTV 4k max thread a while back, I get this: { "side_data_type": "HDR Dynamic Metadata SMPTE2094-40 (HDR10+)", "application version": 1, "num_windows": 1, "targeted_system_display_maximum_luminance": "500/1", "maxscl": "19740/100000", "maxscl": "19740/100000", "maxscl": "40981/100000", "average_maxrgb": "232/100000", "num_distribution_maxrgb_percentiles": 9, "distribution_maxrgb_percentage": 1, "distribution_maxrgb_percentile": "3/100000", "distribution_maxrgb_percentage": 5, "distribution_maxrgb_percentile": "9975/100000", "distribution_maxrgb_percentage": 10, "distribution_maxrgb_percentile": "97/100000", "distribution_maxrgb_percentage": 25, "distribution_maxrgb_percentile": "34/100000", "distribution_maxrgb_percentage": 50, "distribution_maxrgb_percentile": "87/100000", "distribution_maxrgb_percentage": 75, "distribution_maxrgb_percentile": "221/100000", "distribution_maxrgb_percentage": 90, "distribution_maxrgb_percentile": "539/100000", "distribution_maxrgb_percentage": 95, "distribution_maxrgb_percentile": "924/100000", "distribution_maxrgb_percentage": 99, "distribution_maxrgb_percentile": "10354/100000", "fraction_bright_pixels": "0/1000", "knee_point_x": "36/4095", "knee_point_y": "76/4095", "num_bezier_curve_anchors": 9, "bezier_curve_anchors": "188/1023", "bezier_curve_anchors": "410/1023", "bezier_curve_anchors": "609/1023", "bezier_curve_anchors": "784/1023", "bezier_curve_anchors": "821/1023", "bezier_curve_anchors": "850/1023", "bezier_curve_anchors": "880/1023", "bezier_curve_anchors": "911/1023", "bezier_curve_anchors": "937/1023" } There is also sidedata for ""Dolby Vision Metadata" so pretty easy to see this is a combo DV/HDR10+ file. I think this demonstrates it is very possible to detect HDR10+ straight out of ffmpeg.

  36. @joekingcool, I would like to try your fix, but I have a question first. In your read-me doc, you said: this will search the log files for "seek to start failed" error every 5 seconds. find the video name in the log file. wait 30 seconds then shutdown emby. then update the status of that recording so it will continue after emby starts back up. Does this mean that if I happen to be recording five shows, and one errors out, then this will shutdown emby -- which means all 5 shows will restart? This would mean there would be gaps in 4 other shows that didnt need to happen because emby shut down. Am I right or missing something? My thanks for trying to solve this problem. I use Apollo TV as well, and this has been bugging me for a long time.

  37. Some operating systems (odd ones like Windows...) don't allow colons in file names, because they are used for drive letters. One should not expect a smooth experience if trying to use them in file names as many programs are written to work with multiple OSs, and so combine their restrictions. Paul

  38. Yes, a software update has finally added it. Just sent you a log about 4:45 my time (a few minutes ago). Switching servers and accessings channel through the Live TV banner using the Guide was successful. I made several switches and all worked. Seems like you've got it and we can test further here as we watch some TV most evenings.

  39. Yes of course! I assume this problem will be fixed soon, but I think other problems with the application will not be fixed in the long term. Although I prefer to use the native Emby app, I think I will have no choice but to use Infuse for a long time.
    1 point
  40. Yes, it was my last resort. I'm going to try this over several days
    1 point
  41. I just workaround it by installing Infuse on Apple TV instead. If anyone is blocked here perhaps this can be one quick alternative (it offers a free period I think it is sufficient for developer to fix this problem). FYI. https://firecore.com/infuse

  43. I know this is late, but you will run into a hard drive bottleneck before you can reach 30 transcodes. Even Jason at BytemyBits was only able to reach 18 4k to 1080p transcodes on his 13900k because he was using an NVME array.

  46. Changing those two files would be faster but either way would have the same result as those two are the only files under that path that are not owned by emby.
    1 point
  47. That explains why Emby couldn't write to that DB. Those files should be owned by emby, not root. Stop the emby server, change ownership of those files to emby:emby then start the server.
    1 point
  48. Yes, apologies for not being more clear. Both recordings without seek to start error were successfully restarted and fully recorded. As a side note, one restart actually continued on for an additional (2) hours beyond the scheduled end point. It was supposed to be a (2) hour basketball game and turned into a total of (4) hours ( 2hrs of the original game and 2hrs of the next game) Which I wasn’t disappointed with at all since it got all of the game I wanted to record. The two that didn’t restart had the seek to start error (think I’m gonna abbreviate to sts error) but they both failed as I was simultaneously recording another program. I’ll test today with single recordings. You think it may be possible to incorporate the sts error into the restart program?
