  1. Their responses to this issue so far indicate they don't see a problem. There have been many versions of the beta that could have been released over the last two years, but they keep going in and adding more features. If the betas were constantly full of bug fixes due to issues that weren't resolving smoothly, people would be more forgiving. But when we're 18 months into the beta cycle and Luke adds a new feature which he admits nobody else asked for but he thought was neat, WTF are we doing?

  2. Hi, I would love to have tautulli or equivalent for emby. Especially for people coming from plex, we would love to see something like tautulli. I know there are a few Statistic plugins but i think we all know there is nothing like tautulli out there. I love the way i see people currently watching movies on my server and the details of what is transcoding etc. i know emby also shows ppl watching movies but it isn't the same. I don't get a notification or even see a icon if someone starts to play while i have the emby page open. There is no icon that shows me someone is watching a movie. Tautulli is also open source so if someone has the skills in python to make it work for emby, this would be amazing. For me this is actually really the only reason I hesitate to switch completely. maybe someone can make this happen

  3. Hello guys ! just for the lolz.. Me and some folks asked for a feature that we'd find neat (Random Sorting when browsing a Library but not Random Playing) and Luke actually made it happen, apparently. It is also mentioned in the beta versions of Emby ! Other than that, these are also very welcome by me: Add library option to cache images in server data folder to reduce disk access to original media folder Add new table view option Merge webhooks into notifications Add View Missing Episodes context menu option for series and seasons Add options to hide played media from More Like This and Suggestions So, I just wanted to say, I have been refreshing that unRaid Docker page everyday, until I see that update. hahahahha God knows how much I want it. But truth be told, I know how programming works, and I got patience. Anyway, just wanted to share my thoughts and enthusiasm with you folks.

  4. I looked at their PR for that a while back and they had the control source in the main code, not a plugin so the control would be much finer than a plugin could do. Similar to intro skip, plugin vs main code. If someone outside of the main Emby team had access to the code, I suspect they could implement JF's change very quickly. Being open source you can see exactly what they did. Then Team Emby could refine it later on if they wished. The main problem with "us" doing it now is getting the clients setup that wanted to "watch together".

  5. Absolutely this! I have ~15 close friends and family who access my emby server. They accessed it when it was a Plex server, but I know none of them are still using the Plex client for the content they provide. Plex lost its way back in 2018 when it started making users connect to their services to access local content along with questionable privacy policies. I'm glad I jumped ship back then and have no regrets, although I'd love something like Tautulli on Emby.

  6. There is no sign that the Emby devs have taken any of that on board.

  8. Complex folder structure generally is supported/acceptable (users use, for example, letter-subfolders or year-subfolders or genre-subfolders or any other subfoldered-structure), though occasionally it does break under certain scenarios, very often with single TV show out of few dozen or few hundred being the culprit (often one of the Numbered-titled ones) - keeping it as simple as feasible is always a way to go. You can also test it by adding one by one TV show from your main TV shows folder until parser fails, see what gives. https://emby.media/support/articles/TV-Naming.html#complex-folder-structure

  9. Thanks. I tried the beta myself with the same files and they worked perfectly. I saw on another post Luke said hopefully 1-2 weeks for 4.8 stable so I will probably just wait.

  10. Be able to create playlist based on a certain criteria, like genre and or year, in order to create a dynamic playlist that it refreshes automatically when new content is added. This way you can for example, create a tv comedy playlist from the 90's, or a new sci-fi Movies playlist. Some other criteria for rules could be the rating, watched/unwantched, score, tags, language, audio codec, etc The possibilities could be endless

  11. Hi I am testing scale and could only find the stable version of Emby, is the beta also available? if so how do I get it? Thanks

  13. and no reason why you cannot continue to do so. i seem to remember WMC had an indicator on the series poster that showed you an episode was in progress recording. the merged view is critical in live tv IMO. Often i have a few episodes to watch, which either leaves me scrolling down trying to find the oldest episode not marked watched or going to the most recent episode and then going back on the episodes row to find the oldest unwatched. its not great. In WMC i had the series view on probably 80% of the time but it was also important to be able to switch to the episodes view. if only one were possible, then i would prefer the merged series view

  14. In the folder where "userdata" is, there is also the "addons" folder - and in this is the folder of the skin, for example "skin.embuary4k-matrix.teddyknuddel" - and there is the file addon.xml

  16. Thanks - I'm going to take a look - I'm no dev, but I'm just playing with the api and curl commands and got a barebones 'sync' play working - as you say, the hard part is getting people subscribed to the watch party, as currently my mock up just adds every session haha ...

  19. We're not in the ideal world of your mind or mine. The fact is that the hack occurred during what was expected to be a late stage of the 4.8 beta, and it was necessary to do the additional work right away, however long that was going to take. To my mind, the crucial thing now is to watch how future developments after this beta are handled, to see if the lessons of this beta have been learnt; but repeatedly going back over the past doesn't help - we already know what needs changing. 22. Tbh I was just trying to make temporary remote access easy for somebody else, and in the end rather than send them a load of instructions for changing the settings of their browser I just gave them the IP address (i.e., the link shown on the server dashboard) to connect directly.

  26. Hi, you could temporally restrict user access to transcoding in order to test this. Just make sure to undo the change because it will likely cause playback failures with other content. Please let us know the result. Thanks.

  27. Luke, will get around to sending log file if the developer indicates he has an interest, as I am out of town. In the meantime, I have uninstalled the plugin given the situation. This is the error message which I had saved earlier: Cheers, jan

  29. @DeihmosI wrote an details ubuntu tutorial. If you follow it from beginning to end, you should be able to sort it out on your Debian system. In my case. the `Post-processing application` was `/usr/local/bin/comskip` and the `command line arguments` were `--ini=/etc/comskip.ini "{path}"`. Follow my steps to find your application path, and other details.

  31. I concur with this request. Other services were good but their TV Client's never held up to Emby's. However they did have this feature which I miss sorely being in a long-distance relationship. Integrate this feature, and I'll be a happy Emby Camer. Note: It doesn't have to be a full on chat server. Just the ability to play, pause, skip to time, and sync properly

  34. I have UHD 770 and switching to beta version (which is very almost ready for stable release) fixed all transcode problems for me. The upgraded ffmpeg + Intel Media drivers caused emby to detect quicksync (instead of only VAAPI on stable release)

  35. Yes absolutly you should make an official complaint about the perfectly legal 5000 movies you OWN and the 180,000 TV episodes you OWN on your home media server, I am sure no one in any authority will be interested in your collection at all. /s You actually sound like you might be out of your depth, perhaps get one of your kids or grandkids or great grandkids to sort our your PC issues for you.

  36. I ended up finding the correct file and line to fix my issue! For those landing on this page: 1. `cd [your-docker-config-directory]/appdata/emby/config` into your docker config file (the default should be `~/.config/`) 2. Edit `system.xml` via your preferred text editor 3. Look for the line: `<EnableRemoteAccess>false</EnableRemoteAccess>`. Replace `false` with `true`. 4. Restart the Emby Docker container 5. Test

  37. I would think that you of all people, a retired treasury agent, could understand that the amortized cost of 2 UPS over 16 years is more than worth it to prevent this problem you have with Windows and storms. I'm sure the Emby team will help you out again, and again, and again...

  38. Are you still on Win 95? the only times I’ve had to reinstall an OS (Winblows/Linux) this century was because of a hardware failure or my own stupidity…. power failures may take a little time too repair but no big deal... Absolute nonsense, Life-time device $5 just works for any server. $120 for server can be used on more than 1 server. What are you talking about? Hu? Then you should be suing Microsoft or your PC manufacturer. reenable? beg for what? Really if that is true then you know that it will be summarily dismissed. what do you give away for free? You really need to sober up (or maybe get wasted) then find a friend to help you setup and use a better PC

  39. It's embys fault your hardware/setup is garbage? Interesting... Maybe try a stable OS on decent hardware (a UPS would help a lot) or actually setup a proper backup solution instead of blaming others for your failings. You shouldn't have to reinstall everything, ever. Emby isn't responsible for your systems crashing in a storm and you not having a decent backup+restore solution for this problem you knew would happen and failed to plan for. (once is one thing, but 'every god damn time'? Clearly this is a known issue in your systems that you could have planned for and fixed) Perhaps there is a bug related to single-app purchases, especially as they should be entirely unrelated to your server, but you need to actually provide information to be able to investigate and solve whatever issue there may be. What clients (and versions) on what devices/platforms, purchased how/when, what actually happens when you try to use an app you've purchased, etc. You've not made any threads requesting help or providing info regarding this issue until now as far as I can see. Are you actually looking for a solution, or just a wall to scream at?? Emby is not against you, but you certainly seem to be acting like they are. That won't help you work towards a solution at all. Take a step back, gather as much info as you can about the problem, then create a bug report here on the forums so it can be investigated and solved for you and others that may encounter it. Hostility just makes everyone want to leave you to deal with your issues alone.

  41. After opening and initializing the tuner (always) and receiving the signal from the tuner (+0-1 s), Emby needs to probe the TV stream first. This is done externally by running ffprobe (+1-2 s). Based on the result and the client capabilities, Emby configures ffmpeg accordingly (+0.x s) When ffmpeg runs, it probes the video stream again (+x s), it needs to wait for a video key frame (+0-1s), then it starts transcoding and writes HLS segments to disk, each of which covers 3 seconds (+3s). After the first segment is created and written to disk and Emby has detected that is is available (+0.x s), it is transmitting the first segment to the client (+0-1s). Only then, it's a matter of how fast the client player will show the first picture. TVnext can re-use an existing tuner stream (if same mux). All streams go through the server and are processed and parsed there, so no external probing is needed. The parsing (probing) may take 50-200ms, but TVnext doesn't wait for this. It stores and uses the probe result from a previous playback and sets up things immediately as if that information would be correct. It does that setup at 0T, even before it has received anything from the tuner. Only when it would turn out to be wrong (after the probing results are available), it would abandon the preliminary setup and re-create it (nothing has been sent out to the client within those max 200ms). It does not use ffmpeg for creating segments, it does that in memory instead and it sends out the first segment to the client immediately without waiting for the first 3 second segment to be complete. Then it depends on the client player and how long it will wait (building up a small buffer) until it starts playing. That's roughly why it takes > 8s with current Emby but only 500-1200ms with TVnext (without transcoding, which adds about 1s)

  43. Which holiday season are you talking about? Halloween? Thanksgiving? Christmas? National Gorilla Suit Day? Vernal equinox? Easter? National Do A Grouch a Favor Day? That is the problem of offering a date/time without being specific. It is like saying "It will be ready Friday" without specifying which Friday.

  44. Is it possible to have the two things split to: display in continue watching on home-screen and display as latest media. This could solve the problem of the same movie showing twice when you are using certain plugins. Also would like to maybe remove latest movies but would like to show up in continue watching.
    1 point
  45. I would love to be able to have these options separated, or some other way to prevent certain libraries from filling up my Continue Watching section, but still have the Latest Media displayed for that library on the home screen. Example, I record daily news programs but I don't watch all of them every day. I like to go to the latest media section and jump right into the most recent recording. But with this setting, if I'm looking to catch up on a series in my TV Shows library, the Continue Watching/Next Up sections are showing newer episodes of TV recordings that I don't need to watch every episode, so I have to manually "Remove from Continue Watching" in order to keep that section clean, whereas I'd just like to not have them there and just scroll down to see what the latest is for everything in that library. So just splitting this up to be 2 options for each library, one for latest media and one for continue watching. Going a step further, I actually prefer having both Continue Watching and Next Up (legacy) enabled on my home screen. If I'm in the middle of a show and back out, it makes sense to keep it in continue watching until it's marked as played, but then I'd want it it disabled for Next Up. So in my case ideally it would be 3 toggleable sections for Latest Media, Continue Watching, and Next Up. I love having Next Up separate, but since it's marked as (legacy) I get the feeling you guys may disable this eventually ( please don't) but if that's actually going to be the case then just the 2 options for Latest Media and Continue Watching would be good enough for me.

  46. I use Tiny Media Manager to edit tags in bulk, works okay. Highlight all desired movies, bulk edit, add tag, done. Has lots of filtering options which makes it easier to find what you're looking for too.
