I'm a plex life time member, but I have been using Emby for over six years continuously, but there is a feature which I have always thought is missing in Emby which I would like and encourage the developer to consider including especially in this dispensation where families can social or commingle due to COVID 19. Today, I received a notification from Plex about it new feature titled Watch together you can read about it here https://support.plex.tv/articles/watch-together/ The feature allows friends and families at distance to watch same movies together instantly, you simply invite all your buddy, once they signed to the system which can be seeing in the server then play and pause as needed, this I think is cool feature should be added to emby. Let's here your though if Emby developer should consider adding this feature to our beloved Emby Media https://www.bing.com/news/search?q=Plex+Watch+Together&qpvt=plex+watch+together&FORM=EWRE2 points

I'd suggest not running the Emby client on the TV at all. Get a NVidia Shield and whatever TV's picture you think looks best.2 points

Just a quick reply to confirm that emby is running flawlessly under Trunas Scale with Truechart plugin since a lot of months/year now! I would be glad to be able to test again the beta version just like before to help you guys with the development! Thanks for your hard work!2 points

Emby can direct Play these formats - it just can't in a lot of cases identify the detail on what it's playing - but I agree, it's a poor state of things in 2024 not to be able to identify Dolby Atmos etc etc.2 points

I think that it would be a good idea if Emby rethinks the way it looks at audiobooks. Currently, it would seem that Emby is treating audiobooks in the same way that it treats music. While I understand the ease of this for the programmers, as they basically just use the same a mp3 player as they would with music. I would argue that audiobooks should be treated more as TV series than albums/cds. 1) With an audiobook divided into chapter each chapter would be treated the same way as an episode in a TV series. With Emby marking each chapter as played or not, and remembering where in the chapter that the user stop listening. For those who don’t have their book broken into chapter Openaudio is a great program for this, and I am sure that there are others. 2) Treating each audiobook as an individual series would allow for a continue listening (instead of watching) row on the main page. 3) It would also make it easier to navigate audiobooks as the audiobooks page would first display the books themselves and not the author. Having the ability to sort by author is nice but not a necessity when looking for a title. 4) With treating audiobooks in this manner, one could also then set up “collections” such as “Harry Potter” or “Sherlock Holmes”. 5) Emby would then get rid of the “shuffle” button on the play menu inside of an audiobook, as this is unnecessary in that you don’t shuffle a books chapters (unless someone really wants a head trip) like you would the tracks on a cd.1 point

Hi all! I'm extremely excited to announce that I just started working with the awesome folks here at Emby to help grow the brand and Emby name. Before anything else, thank you to @ebrand @Lukefor letting me join the team and trusting me to promote Emby as the best media server available to people. As I start this journey, I'm asking for everyone's help with answering a few questions that will identify some things that will help start this process. What brought you to Emby? Did you leave Plex or Jellyfin or was Emby your first media server? What about Emby do you like or dislike? Have you tried the alternatives out there and if so what is your feedback compared to Emby? What OS are you running your server on? What clients do you use on a daily basis? Any other general comments about Emby and your experience are always welcomed. Thank you for taking the time to help me with this. It is feedback from the users of Emby that will jumpstart this growth for us. I appreciate all of you and if you have any questions or suggestions about how we can best market, please feel free to reach out to me right away.1 point

From the start I stated this on on my shield 2015. It's playing it perfectly as hdr10. On the older version of emby(3.2.90) and Plex. Using new emby side load or regular installed app its choppy. these are dual layered files have both dv and hdr10 . my TV is a 2018 lg OLED it can do both dv and hdr10. But the 2015 shield can't do dv. So since it's playing fine on 3.2.90 has to be hdr10? I did try playing the same file on a 4kmax fire stick. It wouldn't play at all. Not even chop.. just nothing but black screen. Haven't tried Plex on the fire stick. But this thread was started for issues playing on the 2015 shield.1 point

I agree with the others. I have a couple of Samsungs, One LG and some other smart tv. I strictly use firesticks. All set up the same and apps in same order to prevent confusion.1 point

You will want to use IPTVBOSS as suggested. Just a heads up, using your IPTV provider in Emby can be considered restreaming by your reseller and is a very quick way to have your account terminated and have you blacklisted.1 point

any shucked WD, but i just put my own 20TB disk in my PC this weekend and thankfully i had a spare molex to sata converter. in my synology though, its not required. basically if you shuck a WD disk and its not detected by your PC its because you need the molex to sata converter1 point

Not a plugin, but generates m3u and xmltv files from your providers links, and xmltv data from their own extensive datasets as well as an other sources you want to use. Not free, but very reasonably priced and works great. It is called IPTVBoss1 point

@VicMoore I see progress has been made. I created a single channel and this populated as it should do. I was able to view the Live TV Channel I created and the EPG was complete too. I was not able to edit the current channel I created though once it was created. I also presume that the settings and help buttons are currently not active1 point

Hi Kyma According to the rules of the Subscene site, no one is allowed to create a tool to download subtitles from this site. The site also does not create an Api to receive subtitles. For this reason, it is not possible to place this plugin in the official Emby store. https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/twitter/twemoji@14.0.2/assets/72x72/1f610.png1 point

Thank you for the reply. I am using this Emby server locally. I've just changed the video quality bitrate on the Emby app on my Roku TV to the highest available - 2160P 4K(UHD)-110Mbps. For some reason, it had been set to 720P HD-10Mbps. I'll test it out with this setting change and report back. Thanks again.1 point

Thanks @VicMoore I will look at the code as soon as I have time. Pretty swamped this week though. So not really any idea when it will be.1 point

What brought you to Emby? Did you leave Plex or Jellyfin or was Emby your first media server? I used Emby back when it was MBServer or whatever it was called back then and used it some with Windows Media Center. Back then I was very new to the whole media server bit. I don't even recall how I came across it. Back then I had even tried MediaPortal and NextPVR but those were mainly only for TV viewing and Emby had the other aspects of accessing my own media that I liked better. I have used Plex and there are some things I like about it, but Emby ticks more of the boxes for what I am looking for out of a media server. I haven't been able to find any media server that ticks all of the boxes for me. I installed Jellyfin once just to see what all the fuss was about. Ugh, hated it. That lasted about a day. What about Emby do you like or dislike? Likes: I like the intro skip function and metadata management aspects. I find them easy to use. I like the fact that for me the server has pretty much always just worked. I haven't had any major issues on it's performance. Dislikes: I really, really, really dislike this response to feature requests, "It's a good idea for the future." Meanwhile, 4 years later... - I always assume that this means this will never happen and as such I have quite making any feature requests because I feel like the devs have already decided what they want to do and if that view fits with some feature request by accident it will get implemented. I dislike what I consider to be an avoidance of just telling us "we are not going to do that anytime soon. Not a bad idea, but don't expect it for a really long time and probably not ever. Have you tried the alternatives out there and if so what is your feedback compared to Emby? I have, like I said above, used Plex. One of the main things I liked about it is the native ability to run a commercial scanner and skip those commercials. I am currently using Channels DVR software mostly because of how they have implemented commercial skipping. You can even edit the commercials after it has scanned a recording for them. It's a simple little GUI that gives you the still images at the beginning and end of each cut point and you can modify it manually. As any of us that use ffmpeg to scan commercials knows, it's not an exact method. This application lets you fix that pretty easily. What OS are you running your server on? What clients do you use on a daily basis? My server is on a Windows 11 computer that also holds all of my HDDs (about 40 tb) with all my movies and TV Shows. My daily clients are Apple TV and iOS. Any other general comments about Emby and your experience are always welcomed. My general usage of Emby as it exists is quite satisfying. I do understand they can't get in all of the users wishes as we all have some pretty different ideas of what we'd like implemented. I currently only have Emby and Channels DVR on my media computer. I uninstalled Plex about 3 months ago.1 point

@mickle026I have been experimenting. I changed the core "document.getElementId" to "view.querySelector". I don't know if this helped yet. @TZTZorocould you try the plugin below and let me know if it loads OK? Vic PseudoTV.dll1 point

If you are using the web app primarily, then you should be able to use CSS to make the color to your liking, or any other decoration you'd like, even an icon. A smallish icon/symbol might be a good option. Colors can be problematic anyways.1 point

Definitely. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the skill multiple times. I haven't tried the amazon app itself, but I certainly can.1 point

Just addressing the bonus content in Emby part... Have you looked at the Extras functionality in Emby? https://emby.media/support/articles/Movie-Naming.html#movie-extras It allows you to have the bonus content for a movie appear in a row underneath that movie.1 point
-
I am going to chime in with some more demand for this - its nice to support the extra folders so they can be used but its a half assed halfway implementation of additional content folders, however this dumps potentially dozens of random files into one unsorted bucket. the ui elements are entirely required for this to work.1 point
-
CoverArt also will put an indicator on multi-version items but doesn't have one for extras.1 point
-
The Iconic plugin allows you to add badges to item art based on an item being multi versioned or having extras. You can find it in the catalog if you'd like to give it a try1 point

Mostly 1080p h264 mkvs, but theres some variety in there, some lower res, the occasional mp4; I haven't been too picky. Just using embys convert feature: custom, hevc, aac, mkv, original quality. They go in 8-12mbps h264 and come out around 2mbps h265 most of the time. I don't notice any difference visually, but again I'm not very picky about quality. Test some files for yourself and and see what you get. I sorted by size on disc in sonarr and have been working my way down. I haven't gotten to the main movie library yet.1 point

Depends on one's preference. I prefer to have dedicated app that does one thing well rather than a single app that does everying half backed. AudioBookshelf for AudioBooks beats Plex, Emby or anything else.1 point

HI, you can import dvd folders and iso's into Emby Server but we don't support presentation of dvd menus. You'd have to use external players in the Emby apps that support that.1 point

Hi Guys, I recently moved from Kodi with MySQL for lack of proper multi user management and server side support, I have to say I'm impressed with Emby. Together with the Kodi Plugin it really takes the solution to a whole new level, count me in among the supporters! One feature I would like to see is the ability to recommend movies or shows to other users: I share my Library with close friends and family but it is a big library so they are always calling me to recommend them a movie to watch. It would be really cool if after watching a movie I can click a Recommend button and choose the users I think would like the movie, then it is displayed on their suggested movies at the top with the name of the user who recommended it... Sorry if there is something like this is already there, I am new to the interface and don't fully know it but could not find such feature... Thanks!1 point

thank you, but we also need a way to clean the device list in bulk, the only way i can clean it is one by one and thas a pain, thank you1 point

Will agree with previous posters. While this is a great step in the right direction regarding device limits and new customers. As someone who purchased +45 less then a week ago (thinking I would have 15+45..) We should get a small bump too please.1 point

okay, well I paid to raise my limit to 45 so that means I need a limit increase to match. Please bump my license to 55, its only fair1 point
