  1. Per user comment here, I am reposting the request that Emby implement volume normalizing across multiple tracks in a music library (full library or a playlist), as seems possible using ffmpeg.

  2. Would it be possible to add a new status for shows called ignored. my family runs of my systems and we have vastly different tastes, id like a way to mark a tv series as ignored so it doesn't show up in a watched or unwatched filter. It would also be great if ignored shows didn't appear in the "Latest Media" on the home screen. I have seen people say you can do similar things by sorting shows into separate folders and libraries, and even about restricting it with tags. But I don't want to actually lock anyone out of a show and i want the process to be a user managed process not something I have to do as an admin

  4. I have a lot of films and TV shows that I don't watch (yet?) and, therefore, don't want to see on my home screen but others do watch and, therefore, do want to see on their home screen. The only way I can work around this is to mark all content as watched which (1) isn't accurate, (2) is misleading if I eventually decide to watch / continue watching a TV series, and (3) doesn't apply to future content (new episodes of an existing series). An option to hide content from the home screen or mark as "Don't Want to Watch" would be useful.

  8. Hi there. Yes, of course, if you click on a TV series you will see that all episodes have been watched. But until you click on it you have no idea whether it's an unwatched movie or a fully watched TV series. They both look the same. (Obviously the situation is more straigtforward with watched movies and unwatched TV series - then you get a tick for the movie/number of unwatched episodes for the TV series)

  10. Hi all! I'm extremely excited to announce that I just started working with the awesome folks here at Emby to help grow the brand and Emby name. Before anything else, thank you to @ebrand @Lukefor letting me join the team and trusting me to promote Emby as the best media server available to people. As I start this journey, I'm asking for everyone's help with answering a few questions that will identify some things that will help start this process. What brought you to Emby? Did you leave Plex or Jellyfin or was Emby your first media server? What about Emby do you like or dislike? Have you tried the alternatives out there and if so what is your feedback compared to Emby? What OS are you running your server on? What clients do you use on a daily basis? Any other general comments about Emby and your experience are always welcomed. Thank you for taking the time to help me with this. It is feedback from the users of Emby that will jumpstart this growth for us. I appreciate all of you and if you have any questions or suggestions about how we can best market, please feel free to reach out to me right away.

  11. Could Emby add support for Fan Edits and their associated metadata? The best source on the web for the metadata is: https://ifdb.fanedit.org/ and it would help streamline in the same way the metadata pull does for regular videos. I currently list my fan edits separately from their original movie so that I can have independent metadata and then group them with the original as a collection. I've thought about using the new multi version feature but from what I can see that shares the metadata between all versions so I'm thinking my current method is the best as the metadata can very significantly from the OE movie.

  12. I'm running Emby for Kodi Next Gen on Libreelec. Both are current versions. In Emby I have a collection Alien. In that collection I have movies that were automatically added plus some that I've added via "Add to Collection". In Emby the collection looks good, with 7 movies. However in Kodi I only see 4 movies in the Alien set. In Kodi I went into the Emby addon and deleted movies and then readded it, hoping to see the sets properly fill out. Nope, the same. I tried resyncing sets but no joy. Should I be seeing collection data in Kodi sets? Note - the Alien collection has movies that are in more than one collection, IE Alien Covenant is in the Promethius Collection and I manually added it to the Alien Collection. Any movie I have in more than one Collection does not appear in more than one set in Kodi. It is my understanding Kodi supports movies in more than one set, or at least it did in 2011 (https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=103441)

  13. Luke, You guys are top! Honestly...I really really love emby and the support team. Amazing adequate quick response I am very happy that I got emby Premiere to support you guys. Well deserved! With the new version 3.3.58 the problem with the Resume with the external Zidoo native video player is now sorted (please see the screenshot below) The poster wall on the regular android app was looking great in the first place. It looks like I will use the regular android app on my Zidoo Z20 Pro Thank you very much Luke!

  14. I find it easier to use a browser app on the Shield and download the Emby app from the Emby website. Here is a shortened URL: tinyurl.com/jojo86 There is also an app called "File Manager" that I find easy to use to get to network shares. I use X-plore to side-load APKs, just because that particular Shield already had the app and is the one I side-load Emby on.

  16. Thx @LukeI've been wanting a good reason to jump into 4.8, looks like I have it. I'll check back in the AM once I've purged/installed/restored. Have a great night

  17. Yep, that is the one that I use as well, just updated to that one a few months back.. Saved my bacon from being bitten off by the wife once or twice..lol After that, I setup an rsync script to include at least 1 instance of backup per month to a cold storage drive I have at work.

  19. HI there, we suggest following the process outlined here: Configuration Backup
    1 point
  20. LOL, yeah I was thinking that very thought! I won't use both at same time, I sometimes switch because I want a feature that Luke and team has added but something else breaks or is altered and so I go back... Using internal backup/restore won't work but appdata backup might.

  21. I would suggest reporting this to them so that they can make their software 4.8 compatible.

  22. Okay, that helps... I am going to try appdata restore as I think BETA and STABLE are stored in/as different folders/containers... I think there must also be some sort of serial number or hash for each install which would explain why Jellyseer doesn't recognize that emby is even there, so using appdata backup might work. Thanks for the nudge in the right direction, I hope! No, Jellyseer supports multiple Radarr/Sonarr servers but only one media platform at a time.

  24. Oops, I was looking at a library that didn't have any playlists when I wrote that. And it looks like I was wrong about the Playlists tab. When accessed within a library, it only shows playlists from that library. So that's good.

  25. May or may not be good news, but I've literally just had a reply from Freesat about my report. There is obviously a central mistake that has been propagated somehow, but it sounds from this reply that their public-facing web site and their EPG data are two separate things (indeed, as shown in my screenshot above, my PVR's EPG data is correct), so correcting the web site is not necessarily going to correct your EPG data. See what Gracenote come back with anyway.

  26. I would like to add my opinion on this by linking my post that was marked as duplicate. Generally, I don't think it is that helpful to set the default version depending on size or quality. I stated it in the linked post, most of the time, I have two MP4 files, a subbed and a dubbed version, and this leads to inconsistencies with the default version being set by Emby. I would like to have an option to set a string or something that is recognized in the file name to be set as default version, like in the first post of this thread stated. And because I read a discussion regarding "Auto" setting for video internet quality: "Auto" does not work properly. I use the web client in Chromium Edge (connection not local) and when the setting for video internet quality is on "Auto", even a 720p 1 Mbps MP4 file is streamed with a "reduced bitrate", while this does not happen when I set the internet quality to "4K - 40 Mbps". I already disabled the ability to transcode a video for my users because that lead to quality problems as well (lower resolutions being played on auto), but with video transcoding disabled and the internet quality set to "4K - 40 Mbps", my videos are being directly played without transcoding and without bitrate reduction. By the way, these problems do not occur on the android app.

  27. Okay, sorry, I have forwarded that to the provider.

  28. Agreed - raised this exact point way back when but nothing came of it. the presentation in WMC was significantly better than emby for this reason. also raised with @softworkz in respect of the WMC client but it needed a change made in the core. the recordings library has the better presentation but WMC allowed you to flick between the series and the episode view

  29. Let me know if there is any logs I can provide. The direct streaming of high bit rate files is my main issue right now as this covers most of my content. Just to add I've ruled out hdmi leads and Dolby vision being the issue as I've replaced all hdmi leads with active optical cables and tested with Dolby vision being disabled

  31. hey @Lukei know you guys are working on a lot of improvements and new features and was wondering if it would be possible to have a page in the forum under the "general" section a Upcoming Updates & Features page from the devs so users can see what's being worked on. this might save them posting certain requests if they no it is in development or being worked on.

  34. I can't tell you. I have no way of knowing what the previous version was. I am currently on 1.6.4 and it is labeled as "Latest". So can we assume it was before that? It also shows that 1.6.4 was installed in October 2023. So I think this may not be the right place to look. Something happened to Emby and I assumed it was an app update. But maybe it was a TV firmware update. It says I'm on 2501 but there is no date. So I can't tell you anything about the firmware except that it's 2501. I can also say with absolute certainty that this slow scrolling issue is new to me. So how do you load different versions of the app? Where do you get them?

  36. do you have a firewall or some sort of network intrusion software that has notifications set up to send notifications to your mobile?
    1 point
  37. just as side note, because i just tested it. if you dont let emby do any metadata scraping from movie db etc. and just have it read nfo files in your media folder. the scan will take almost half the time to scan. emby has settings for read nfo and another for write further down. and you can uncheck all the providers for fetching other meta data.

  42. The videos on the PC have tags in them. But, the tags themselves don't seem to show up in the videos in the Emby when scanning the media library. How do we make the tags in the video show up automatically in Emby? Here above screenshot, there is a Tag written into the video. But on Emby Media server, the tag "Dog" is no where to be found. It seems it needs to be added manually. How do we get the media server to scan media to detect tags in the video?

  43. When I use Windows 10 to write tags into the photos, the Emby Metatags can detect them. But Emby cannot detect the tags written on the videos from Windows 10. How can we make Emby detect the tags from the videos, that the tags are written from Windows 10?

  46. If any Emby developer or user is interested in making a metadata plugin for IFDB (https://ifdb.fanedit.org/), one starting place might be the IFDB metadata bundle for Plex. https://github.com/tomfin46/IFDB.bundle That's about 280 lines of Python code. I know Emby plugins are written in languages supported by .NET and Mono, usually C#, but perhaps it could serve as pseudo-code or at least give an idea of how to begin an Emby plugin. The github project has no obvious license (open source or otherwise) listed on it that I could find. Also of note, that project has five forks, but I looked at each of them and it doesn't appear that any of them were created with an Emby version in mind and none of them seem to have added anything significant that isn't in the original, nor do they seem any more up-to-date than the original.

  47. Luke, you said you wanted to get a sense of how popular fan edits are. I have an entire Emby library dedicated to fan edits. (I find it useful to keep them separate from mainstream movie releases.) I would LOVE to be able to use fanedit.org as a metadata source for that library. Right now, for any fan edits I add I have to manually copy the info from fanedit.org into the metadata editor in Emby. It's quite time consuming. Thanks for your consideration!
    1 point
  48. I can't answer for Emby's user base but the idea of fan editing is so popular that even professional film makers like Steven Soderbergh ( http://extension765.com/soderblogh/16-heavens-gate-the-butchers-cut ) have indulged in it for movies that are not their own. Wikipedia even documents one case where the director of the film hired the fan who did his own edit to turn it into the directors cut that was released on the blu-ray.
