  1. I spent a couple days fiddling with AI image generators to come up with genre icons that were somewhat matching. Being AI generated, the words were consistently weird. Not just misspelled, but creepy misshapen. These are the ones that were the best of what I was able to come up with. There are 1024x1024 and 960x600 versions. The good thing about AI generation is that if there are any missing, you can just go back to the generator and ask for more. genre_posters.zip

  4. TheTVDB now supports more alternative orders than just Aired/Absolute/DVD. Can Emby query these additional orders and add them as options? Two examples of shows I've seen this used are Re:Zero which has a "Director's Cut" display order and Money Heist which has a "Netflix" order. https://thetvdb.com/series/re-zero-starting-life-in-another-world https://thetvdb.com/series/la-casa-de-papel

  5. Be able to create playlist based on a certain criteria, like genre and or year, in order to create a dynamic playlist that it refreshes automatically when new content is added. This way you can for example, create a tv comedy playlist from the 90's, or a new sci-fi Movies playlist. Some other criteria for rules could be the rating, watched/unwantched, score, tags, language, audio codec, etc The possibilities could be endless

  6. Guys, The ebook side of Emby/MediaBrowser has been long stalled or rather stagnated. I would like to offer up a couple of suggestions. Many people use calibre as an ebook/comic book tool for scraping data and general management of their collection already. This program is absolutely astonishing in its ability to pull metadata from post calibre scans, as well as draw in metadata from the file source and/or directory structure. http://vaemendis.net/ubooquity/ Its a self contained .jar server/reader combination. And honestly I am very impressed by it's small footprint and wide range of abilities. The other option is COPS , which was written specifically with calibre in mind. It is open source, so making it work with emby I would think would be fairly easy. https://blog.slucas.fr/projects/calibre-opds-php-server/ Ever since the original release of MediaBrowser's bookshelf I have always wanted something that would allow me to 'read' my collection, rather than being basically nothing more than a place-set for images of books I own. I am sure that those who mainly have audiobooks are thrilled with bookshelf , but it's nothing more than an extension of the music library IMHO, not new features. We can have both right? Here I give you two suggestions free of charge.. Just because I love you, and Emby Personally I plan on running the Ubooquity Server along side of Emby from now on, just because of it's massive functionality and tiny footprint. But I sure hope that someone decides -- "yeah, ebook support should be in here too" and do something about it - rather than allow this now very very ancient issue to continue to remain an issue. And so I don't have to have 20 different ports open, some with SSL support - some not, because Emby isn't delivering the 'complete package'. (Please take some of this with humor, I know you have your hands full with improvements/bugs/suggestions/requests)

  7. Hi, Since I am using more and more TMDb, (since tvdb is more and more a mess), I am missing a very important feature. tvdb had the feature of grouping stuff into aired, DVD and absolute, which is supported by emby. TMDb had also this feature. See this example for "La casa de papel" (Money Heist, Haus des Geldes): The Original Order is allways the "aired order" of the original country. "La casa de papel" was originaly released by "Antena 3" and was taken over by Netflix, which results in different episodes ordering, which is a mess. They solved it in episode grouping. This feature is missing from emby, but it's integrated in their API and is allready supported in other apps, like kodi. At least, Banana a TMDb Mod claims it, that it's supported by Kodi: https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/71446-la-casa-de-papel/discuss/5e7032d84f9a99001152704f?page=1#5eb76872ca7ec6001f7c53cb Is it possible to add this feature into emby? It is the last scraping feature, I really really miss for TMDb on emby. It adds much flexibility and is overall a much better solution, than on tvdb with their aired, dvd and absolute order. Another great example is Dragonball Super: As you see, it adds much more flexibility for different regions over the world. It's in my own eyes a must have for emby!

  8. It appears that any playlist that any user creates is public--all other users can see it. I can appreciate the benefit of a public playlist. I could create a playlist called "Harv's Favorite Horror Films" for example, in case other users are interested in checking out what I like. However, the way most of my users are using playlists is to keep track of things they want to watch in the future. They are typically things that the user has not watched yet, so it's not meant as a recommendation to others, just as a way of them personally keeping track of what they want to watch. Having that kind of playlist be public is of questionable benefit to other users. Additionally, it is not clear when you create a playlist that other users will be able to see it. That has the potential to cause some embarrassment. He hasn't created one yet, but I wouldn't want to see my nephew's "movies to fap to" playlist, for example. If I could make a suggestion, I would suggest associating each playlist with the user who created it, and giving that user the ability to make the playlist private or public. For example, the following two checkboxes could be shown when creating or editing a playlist: Allow other users to see this playlist Allow other users to edit this playlist Initially, both checkboxes would be unchecked. Since another user cannot edit a playlist they cannot see, the second would be allowed to be checked only if the first were also checked. (You could grey it out to make that clear.) Depending on your UI preference, it could also be a drop-down menu. Playlist visibility: (Only me | all users can view | all users can view and edit) Thanks for considering this.

  9. It would be useful if the server (or perhaps clients) could cache most (if not all) content images (posters, backdrops, logos, etc) for movies, TV series and seasons. This would mainly be of benefit when a portion of someone's content is offline but the users would still like to view the content to know what exists. I think caching on the server would be preferable, then all clients could make use of the same cached images. if you think this would be a useful feature, please click the "Like This" button on this post.

  13. Hi, that could be a great fonctionnality and will feet Unraid server like a charm (cold storage + cache) i guess it would be something that can work as follow: define the size of the cache same option than for download feature select what you want to download to the cache and rules (latest etc...) if cache full, erase less recent files emby server sets a flag to a video in in the cache and uses the cache to provide stream by this way, this feature could maintain HDD in spindown more often regards

  14. Hi, the guide seems to be better behaved on shorter interactions back and forth between live TV and guide. But I still see Emby waking up (I let my Windows machine go to sleep) with the Gude in previous earlier timeframe windows. Also, sometimes when scrolling a long way through channels (eg I enter the guide at say 2.1 and I want to get to 762), by the time I get to 762, the "active" program (the one that is highlighted) has shifted to the right by one or two shows. This has the result that unless you notice it, you select a program that is in the future and therefore get a recording option rather than a play option. This is more nuisance than anything but adds to the unpredictability of the guide. Finally, I notice that the Guide allows you to go left into the previous the 1 or 2 shows. That is, it allows you to view shows that are now no longer available to watch. While this is not necessarily a bad thing (I sometimes want to see what had just been on), I suspect it helps contribute to the overall unpredictability. To net it out, based on cable guides and other apps, the expectation is when the guide is on the screen, you are seeing current shows at the left with a line showing actual time, and future to the right. Any other behavior that deviates from this, IMO, adds confusion.

  16. Seeing two issues related to theme media playback in 8.x vs 9.x. Emby 4.8.0.61 and .62. Kodi 20.2 on Win11. Latest version of the TVTunes add-on from Latt's. 8.2.15 - Theme media syncs and plays properly for movie library only. TV show library themes do not sync (library seems to be ignored entirely) 9.1.0 and 9.1.1 - Kodi freezes when theme media playback starts, TV library appears to sync properly (and TV shows will attempt theme playback and trigger the freeze) Exact same behaviors persisted between clean installs of Windows (not related to this). I'm not sure at what point 8.x the TV sync stopped, existing shows that had already been synced kept working until I rebuilt that box the first time. For 9.x freezing Kodi, the debug log stops with what looks like a timeout while trying to call the appropriate theme mp3. In all cases E4K is in add-on mode and theme media is linked not copied. 8.2.15 is otherwise good here, this is not a showstopper lol. Just something for the 9.x list, I can generate some logs this weekend if desired.

  19. To clarify further, this is not a problem created by Emby, it is a behaviour created by Google in the name of added security (and now copied by other browsers) which happens to produce this annoyance with Emby's hosted app. Paul

  21. This issue has apparently been tough for them to figure out... It was first reported at least back in July 20, 2019: As I reported some time ago, in this error case it also doesn't seem to matter if "Are you still watching?" prompt is enabled or not. The growing of the .ts file never stops until the drive is filled. And, as I also reported sometime back a year or two ago, I also noticed that often the .ts file will grow and grow, but Emby's dashboard will indicate that there is no user activity at all -- But I don't know it's related to the same issue or not. Basically, transcoding drive space issues have been an ongoing problem for a very long time now.... The only real "fix" is to throw as much space at the transcoding drive as you can. And the cronjob listed earlier in this thread, at least for those with linux type systems, so far seems to help as well.

  22. Hi, yes this was changed to email only. There are many reasons behind this, one of which being to help people understand that Emby Connect is a separate service. Previously many users didn't know what this meant. They would just type in "Bill" to add their friend Bill, and then the invitation would end up going to whomever has the username Bill on our Emby Connect server. So now, force them to enter an email, problem solved.

  23. Yes, and it has been like that for some time now, I'd say a year or two at least. Optional Connect field also states "e-mail address" only.

  24. Yes. If you press PLAY on the episodes in that ribbon view it presently isn't acting right. When you press Ok and enter the detail view and use the play button icon to play it acts correctly. We will be fixing this and I will put the problem on our issue tracker. Reference: Issue #1545: [DetailView] Cannot using PLAY button to play episodes from the "single row episode view"

  25. I had an issue where the episodes on the ribbon view wouldn't play when selected. I don't know if it was playing the next unplayed one or what - but it insisted on playing the wrong episode no matter what I picked. I'll play with it some more so I can more accurately document the conditions.

  26. Hi. Can you try sideloading our standard android app on the same device and see how that compares? https://emby.media/emby-for-android.html Thanks.

  28. It doesn't bother me, however I wanted to leave a note: In 4.8.0.62 beta: "movie.en.sdh.srt" (detected as English SDH) works, "movie.en.hi.srt" does not (detected as hindi). Also, at least when the feature leaves beta, it might be nice to add to the info page: https://emby.media/support/articles/Subtitles.html

  30. May I suggest you add something like this: ARC=$(dpkg –print-architecture) Then change the lines like: grep_filter=".*https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/${version}/emby-server-deb_${version}_amd64.deb\"$" To: grep_filter=".*https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/${version}/emby-server-deb_${version}_${ARC}.deb\"$" This should make it work for all (or at least most?) Debian based OS’s (Debian, Ubuntu, Mint, Mate... Pi(&Pi like...)...) that emby can run on.

  33. For the reason the OP gives above - the AndroidTV App works better for them in the majority of use cases. (which I agree with - I've tried to get my family to use/test the 'Standard' App - they simply feel it is a worse user based TV experience (navigation and chapters especially) and performance is still sluggish vs the AndroidTV App. Sorry Luke - I get why you are constantly selling the Standard App - but until it's on par with AndroidTV - people are not eager to take a backwards step here - myself included.)

  35. Fully supporting Release Group / Type from MusicBrainz would be super helpful in improving life for those who use Audio Books (and Audio Drama). MusicBrainz recognizes primary Release Types (album, single, EP, etc.) as well as secondary Types (Soundtrack, Live, Audiobook, Demo, etc.). See here: https://musicbrainz.org/doc/Release_Group/Type For those who have been trying to get a polished presentation/navigation experience with Audio Books this would be huge. Many books have excellent metadata on MusicBrainz and it would be huge if Emby could finally support the data for narrator, author, series (book number in series), etc.

  36. Emby Server 4.8 will support the .actors folder in a read-only fashion, meaning it will be able to use images from the .actors folder underneath a series or movie folder. The Emby Server database is still the same as before, meaning it's still one image per actor. That means if you have an actor that appears in multiple movies or series, it will be one shared image that is used in all places, and it will be whichever one happens to get scanned in first. But this will allow for basic support of the .actors folder convention.

  37. It would be very useful to link text metadata from the "Overview" section to other Emby media as well as HTML links to external content.

  39. Hi, I have a custom movie metadata provider plugin, everything works like a charm except the trailer. The plugin adds either mp4 or m3u8 type URL to the RemoteTrailer variable array of the MetadataResult. However, when I try to play a trailer, I constantly get an error of No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details. It's kind of confusing and I thought it might be the trailer video source's issue, so I open the emby library.db file and find the trailer link, then I open it in my browser and it turns out the link is valid. Also, I noticed that all the trailers used by Emby provider are Youtube links, they are neither mp4 nor m3u8 links. So I wonder why this trailer feature doesn't work even if the provided trailer url works. And what's the correct type of trailer url/link is supported by Emby.
