I have bought Zidoo ZX9 Pro and am pleasantly surprised. Thought it wont be possible to install android apps but it is. So apart from internal media player you can have others available from play store.. so far no issues with the playback and am pretty satisfied. Thanks for the recommendation!2 points

Ahh, thanks. Mark would know and is the same one who hinted awhile back that a new player may come out next year with dual HEVC. Was reading another of his recent posts that Dolby since pulled FEL support from their SDKs for everything but physical disc players. Even if they did come out with one there is still the problem of finding a TV with a 12bit panel. I may just go ahead and get their current pro models then because of HDR10+ which my Shield doesn't support.2 points

@Luke, could we get More/Details or Play button on random library spotlight so single UP click would take us there instead on Home header tab? As it works now one either has to go to Search>Type (click, click, click...) or enter focused library and find that particular item (again click, click, click...), either of which, honestly, makes it too much of a hassle to even bother and it's a pity, as those suggestions often offer something one would be inclined to watch if it was easily reached.2 points

Pretty simple suggestion. I have multiple users for my Emby server. If I want to do continuous maintenance on the media, I have to tell everyone. some of them are harder to reach than others ( i.e. no Facebook or Skype chat etc. ) It would be great if say... on the admin panel, I could hit a check box that enables 'maintenance mode', where the server still runs does everything as normal, but instead of the login screen it displays a maintenance page saying the server is unavailable. Even better if I were able to directly put a reason in a text box that would then display on the login screen as well. Not really sure what others would think of this, but for me it would be quite helpful. mostly if I want to make sure no one is trying to access content I know won't work until I've done a full library scan again. Thanks for reading. -Kyle1 point

Library scan running tasks are lacking in their progress reporting. This is most apparent after a fresh install of Emby on a large library, particularly containing many TV episodes. The scan tasks seems to almost immediately skip to the high 80s percentile before it actually starts adding files to the library. The scan task has been running for 2 days straight and has gone up a few percentage points to 90.2% at this point. Would be much better if it reported a more accurate percentage. Alternatively, a count of the number of directories or files it's scanned vs remaining. Currently under 3.6.0.1-beta.1 point

Would be nice if the server could serve a custom logo to the clients, i.e replace the emby logo with something relevent to the server. This would look really neat.1 point

Add alpha picker to the "add to collection screen. The title pretty much says what I would like. It is slow to move through the collections to find the one to add to without it.1 point

Just an idea, see if it works for you Make collections based on your folder structure using the smart playlist plugin (rule: path contains ...). The collections will the synced to Kodi and will be available as movie sets. Hope that helps. Cheers, LongMan1 point

I myself always use season subfolders even if a series has only one season. Recent issue with the two V series for example.1 point

Not at your server location - which is the one that must be blocking traffic on some ports. Glad you got it figured out.1 point

I changed the port to 400 and everything connects!!!!! For some reason, I thought I had to use 8096 and 8920. You hit it right on the head, when I was so frustrated. Is any particular port no. better/safe than another? Thank you very, very much. I am very appreciative of you and this board.1 point

Luke, hi. The connectivity troubleshooter didn't really help but made me think a bit more about the network configuration... I have finally managed to solve the issue buy reconfiguring my media pc to a static ip address. Thanks for your help1 point

Yeah, but that goes more into @chef's Spotlight FR territory, linked above. This was just asuggestion for improvement to current implementation. It follows focus/selection: random item from library currently in focus, if you go further down then currently selected item from CW/NU or Latest row. Having transport button makes sense only for section0 (as for any other section you already have an item selected, Details/Playback are one or two clicks away anyway and single UP click would just take you to previous row) - considering overwhelming majority of users have My Media in that row, that'd be target audience.1 point

I had a custom icon i made that "broke" it hehe. So after i removed that one it started to work1 point

This would be insanely helpful actually. I travel often for work and am constantly connecting to my server remotely which I have setup behind Nginx. Great and well flushed out idea.1 point

Personally I'd do away with the spotlight area. The transitions where they zoom in and out isn't nice, almost vomit-inducing. I prefer the way the ATV app does it, without a huge space at the top of the screen, which is why I have disabled it. Thanks.1 point

@Luke thinking about this a little more, the only way i see this working would for the more like this to be moved to a plugin as a provider, a bit like a type of metadata provider, then people could select a different more like this provider when setting up their libs. plugin devs could then create new variations that used different approaches.1 point

@softworkzor @Lukeany update on this? Or a partial implementation at least. At the moment I'm wasting CPU cycles anyway because external connections always default to a set bitrate causing transcoding despite a network connection probably being solid enough to handle direct playback. And the moment it's on a bad connection and bitrate is too high for the connection or device to handle the player fails to notice and will happily let playback hang or stutter indefinitely. For my non-tech savvy relatives explaining the quality options doesn't help this because they don't understand what bitrate entails. Would be amazing if the player could adaptively let the cpu/gpu encode a few streams at certain bitrates and being able to easily switch between them if player notices buffer not filling properly. Not sure if this is easier to implement compared to something like HLS adaptive. But it would be a fine temporary solution. For quality selection an "easy switch" in settings for more understandable names/presets would be pretty cool.1 point
