8 seconds plus live tv channel changing is unacceptable when WMC can still to this day change channels within a second and WMC is over 20 years old.4 points

It sure would be nice to hear.... something from @Lukefor the server side, or say @ebrfor the best app that no one ever wants to see go away in ATV that would likely need some updates to support this (or we get forced to the Android main app that still to this day cannot seek/time shift liveTv ) or even @softworkzwho spent a lot of time coding this fantastic improvement (not to discredit others who may have helped) for any insight as to a path forward with this? Something.. I just want to hear something.... (pitchfork lowered)4 points

I have been having this same issue for years. The problems you have described are ones I too have on a regular basis. When playing Live TV, I also get the buffering just after starting a stream and a repeat of the prior 30 seconds or so. All most ever session. I also have temp files that will quickly get out of hand if not dealt with on a regular basis. Several months ago, I was pointed in the direction of a plug-in called "Server Restart" currently using version 1.0.0.0. What it does is allow you to schedule a restart of your server. This will clear the temp files from the transcode temp directory. I have found a few times per week (based on HD size) should be sufficient to keep from filling a drive. I have mine set for 3:00 am twice per week when typically the only thing that would be playing is a stream accidentally left open. While stopping with the HOME button on a Roku will create issues, I have found that to not be the only reason the temp files will remain. I have in the past had log files that show the STOP command being issued and received, yet temp files will remain. Give yourself the peace of mind by installing the "Server Restart" plug-in and then you can all but forget about the temp files. About once a month, I take a look at the temp directory since there will be some left over folders with nothing in them that will remain.2 points

Are we going to get any kind of meaningful update to the Apple TV app any time soon? I don't want to sound like a Karen here but if you release an app on a platform then you are obligating yourself to update it. If you don't have the manpower with the relevant time or coding experience to write for Apples platform then you should be open and honest about that. Is there any reason why the Apple TV app lacks the UI or customization of the Android version? The amount of people I see on Reddit who say they just use Infuse and connect to Emby that way should tell you everything you need to know about the state of your app.2 points

As you know, Emby stores person data in one data table, regardless if it is an actor, a director, componist, producer or whatever. That data table has the column "Role", which is needed when Emby wants to store what role an actor is playing. In all other cases (director, componist, producer, guest star, ...) the role is and should not be used. Unfortunately, some Internet movie/TV databases provide that field nonetheless, which leads to the situation that Emby stores the person information, that it is a Director and has the role "Director". You can see this in the summarization of a movie or an episode of a series when it reads "Alfred Hitchcock - as Director" instead of "Alfred Hitchcock - Director". Because, not only that Emby stores that information the data service is providing, it furthermore displays it without need. I am currently solving this problem for me personally that I frequently open the database library.db with an appropriate program and delete all role fields from the table ItemPeople where the PersonType doesn't equal "0". But this cannot be the final solution. I want to suggest, that Emby does not put this field into the database by any means when the PersonType is not equal to 0 (or is it 4?) (Actor). Problem solved.1 point

Sorry for the late update, but Emby for my TV in the US is now available in the Samsung App Store and works perfectly.1 point

Well MS probably had a whole division working on WMC so Bill Gates could go on national TV and promote it. Im just assuming, but Emby likely doesnt have an army of developers and unlimited budget. The thing I miss the most about WMC was the continuous live TV buffer and being able record a 30min show captured in the 2hr buffer.. Its one of those things you didnt realize you needed until its gone.1 point

In 2010, the company Digital Everywhere was bought by the company Digital Devices https://digitaldevices.de/en/home/ and http://digital-everywhere.digitaldevices.de/, and they continued production for a few years; but the good old FireDTV - FloppyDTV cards are still being used now a days. The company Digital Devices has (based on the good old technology of Digital Everywhere) today a wide range of high-end LAN tuner solution for DVB-C, DVB-S2 and DVB-T with CI+ support, etc. and high-end/good driver support. The good-old FireDTV and FloppyDTV cards were connected via the Firewire interface to the PC, an interface technology not much being used in modern systems, but actually, it gave christal clear Full-HD picture of super high quality and it supported a technique of DVB-C > DVB-T translations, which was a great advantage for Microsoft MCE, as Microsoft couldn't support DVB-C directly due to TV-provider licensing restrictions (I was told......). The solution of Digital Everywhere was to use the DVB-T support of MCE and use a sort of translation-transponder table to let MCE believe it received DVB-T channels, where in reality the Digital Everywhere FireDTV of FloppyDTV cards had a DVB-C (or even a DVB-S2) tuner..... Looking into the future, it is a question wether the DVB-standards will even survive the far simpler IPTV/Streaming technology, although current powerfull,TV-providers still keep using the DVB-standards, probably because of encryption/licensing and installed base reasons..... Suggestion: after reading this piece of history, I suggest you consider supporting these Digital Everywhere TV-cards only if this doesn't take too much effort? Thnx & best regards, Peter1 point

Try a test video that is known to be correct with a proper video index. Quite often video found online has errors that don't show up with dedicated player software because these apps check for problems and fix them on the fly. Where as direct playback in browsers can fail if the video has index errors. So, just because it plays back elsewhere, does not mean the video is free from problems. You can also try remuxing the video with a video editor or app that fixes issues. The easiest way is to use a proper test video and if that works, you know it's pretty much your video that has problems. Hope that helps.1 point

Thanks for the reply, think I have it sorted now. Seems like there were some other processes running in the background on the server that were activating every 10 seconds. Changed the timer on those to longer and monitoring is working now.1 point

Are you able to verify the integrity of the pfx file and password with tools like openssl or certutil?1 point
-
Sure - you can use ffmpeg to trim if you like as this a transport stream (TS) - but as you've seen, there is a chance the 'timing' is corrected if you do this - which is probably the original problem.1 point

@rbjtechtested the script, it's working like a charm, thank you!1 point

Ok thanks Luke. I guess I will have to either wait for the new version in Samsung app store or get a new Android TV1 point

the best way I have found to find good ways to use the emby API is open the Web client and use the debug console (f12) then look at the network connections being made as you navigate to pages. the other way is check out the Swagger API docs at the bottom of the web client dahsboard. also in the above Git repo I linked are a number of examples of how to use the API.1 point

If you lock the genres at the album level, then you wont' get genres from internet metadata and you also wont' get them automatically populated from the tracks. To me, that will turn it into a hassle because then you'll have to manually assign your album genres. Edit: I can see that the 4.7 server is not respecting the album lock in regards to inheriting genres from tracks. This has been corrected already in the 4.8 beta channel. But again, this will create a lot of manual work for you so I wouldn't recommend it anyway. Better to get those genres out of the tracks to begin with.1 point

Easy, I play in emby web a film, I chose audio and subtitle, I play it. The subtitiles have a delay of several seconds. If I use VLC to play the film, it's ok, if I use emby in my firetv to play it, it's ok.1 point

Can you attach an emby server log from a time when this fails? What type of storage/filesystem are you using?1 point

Then emby and plex should drop support for it, and just let the infuse guy do it all, I dont see a problem here lol, seems like your complaint is emby small and cant devote time to fixing their product, so stop dev on it and let other people do it. Also saying it doesnt matter that other devices support it, well clearly the device does support it if others can make it work huh. Lots of people like apple, pretty sure they are one of the top brands, and oh right, luke is trying to model is software afer their designs lol. whos MrMC? I dont have a boner for any product, I use multiple platforms and devices, I use the ones that work lol, I also have shields but those have aged out and nvidia has no desire to make new ones since nintendo dropped them. Apple also works amazingly well, especially if you have other apple products like most appletv people do. So saying oh plex is large and has money to do it so the product is hard, and oh infuse has been doing it for so many years so its hard, no the issue is emby is small and isnt devoting time and resources to fixing their devices most likely because they have a small income stream and market share, not because apple has a poor device, emby could also say hey guys we dont have the resources to devote to this we endorse infuse and maybe work with the infuse guy and make integration easier with some custom apis which would be backend changes which are easier to deploy, the issue is, emby loses money this way, so they would rather lock you into their apps so they can paywall them, this is fine if they can support the product, which seems like they cant, its not a device issue as clearly other apps do it fine, its like saying its shitty look netflix, apple, prime, all the streaming apps cant even do HDR/DV, nope they can do it just fine bud, so whats left. Pretty sure apple has a great dev environment as apple actually supports their devices and most apple products upgrade timely, unlike android.1 point

Apologies for the delay. This should be resolved in the next update to our apps and server. Thanks.1 point

I haven’t had an instance where this situation has arisen for some time. The next time someone using my server leaves it running I will try to replicate this, but I haven’t had the opportunity for some time.1 point

Which holiday season are you talking about? Halloween? Thanksgiving? Christmas? National Gorilla Suit Day? Vernal equinox? Easter? National Do A Grouch a Favor Day? That is the problem of offering a date/time without being specific. It is like saying "It will be ready Friday" without specifying which Friday.1 point

So going forward on this, I have made a fork of the original and made some changes here. https://gitlab.com/leeuw121/plex-to-emby-migration *If anyone is going to use this, I am not aiming to make any public changes or fixes to this as this has mainly been to ensure that the scripts are working for myself, by no means would this mean I would be able to assist with many issues going forward at all. However if I do make any changes I will update the scripts accordingly. Edits to the original: I've split both migrations to be one for movies and one for tv. For myself, I have multiple TV libraries (Cartoons, TV, Anime etc) so to lighten the load on the script, I've split these apart so it's not constantly trying to migrate Movies every single time. With this, the additions made to these are: Watch data Scripts will run and output into "logs/[scriptname].log" The initial coding has changed with small keyword changes to fit the changes in API's etc. Learning from this I would ensure the below: Ensure the Plex libraries are using either TVDB or TMDB instead of the Plex Series metadata, if you have to change this, I would highly recommend refreshing metadata. (Regarding the Hetzner difficulties, moving the plex server's full database into a local hosted service will assist in doing so) Gaining the shared users' plex tokens has been difficult to do so without asking them to acquire this token for you. (I am looking into doing this via Plex User ID and just relying on the "Claimed Server Admin Token") Some episodes in shows still have issues with matching. This can be a case where some words in episode names still aren't 100% accurate. EG: "Those Who Hunt: START" on Emby, and "Those Who Hunt: Start" on Plex. These won't migrate over until you change this on either Emby or Plex, however I would recommend changing this on Plex.1 point

A while back I was having pops, clicks and dropouts with TrueHD passthrough audio. As a quick fix I turn off passthrough/bitstreaming for TrueHD and let the mpv player decode the audio as 7.1 PCM. I felt like I was losing out on the object-based meta data being passed along to my processor for the 7.1.4 format. I did a little research and found this patch to mpv which fixes this problem. It's the latest mpv build, 0.36.0, with TrueHD fixes. Here is the thread that explains the problem/fix. Post #951 https://www.avsforum.com/threads/unofficial-mpv-player-support-thread.3274072/page-48#post-62744444 Here is the link to the download mpv.exe player and mpv-2.dll version 0.36.0 with the fix. Scroll past the previous builds until you find the "build-11.08.2023" https://forums.plex.tv/t/dolby-truehd-passthrough-modified-mpv-build/802742/149 I used this build which has the "mpv.exe" and "mpv-2.dll". Google Drive file, -v3 build. "build-11.08.2023-ntruehd+commits-overlay-mod.zip" Just unzip the build, open this folder "mpv-dev-x86_64-v3-20230812-git-76e929c", copy the "mpv-2.dll" to your "AppData\Roaming\Emby-Theater\system\electronapp\libmpv\x64" folder and rename it to "mpv-1.dll" (you will have to rename the old one first). I used "Toy Story 4" as my test movie because it had some serious audio issues at 00:02:32. This build fixed it. In fact, this build fixed all the movies that had TrueHD audio issues. Make sure you have this option enabled. "audio-exclusive=yes" (mpv.config) or "Enable exclusive audio mode" in the ET Audio GUI. Enjoy.1 point

New requested icons, sorry for the delay, too much work As for the sources request, The icons are copyrighted, so providing my derived images seems the most I can do. In the original post you can find this great icon pack, the rest its just box and text. I'll post the images without the quote in a following post. export_20230220.zip1 point
