  1. Hi, I was thinking that it would be great if the original movie title would be shown on the main movie page. below the localized one.

  2. Hi, I reported this here and the answer was it will be repaired in the upcoming release.

  3. Yes and this move by Plex has brought them out of the woodwork. As I said, the device limits are really our only tool (because we do not control your servers) and, right now, many of them are using loopholes to sidestep it. We may have to make some changes to combat this.

  4. CURRENT STATUS: SSO: Not yet planned LDAP: Development COMPLETED - BETA AVAILABLE >180 direct endorsements >30 MONTHS (>2.5 years) >12,000 views PLEASE BUMP - - - - - PLEASE LIKE - - - - - PLEASE BUMP - - - - - PLEASE LIKE - - - - - PLEASE BUMP This would greatly expand Emby's usage, and possibly more enterprise level adoption, user templating, user groups, SSO, etc. There are also users who have completely abandoned Emby and ended subscriptions due to the lack of this necessary basic functionality. Note: SAML2 is also part of this request. (header auth is also acceptable, at a minimum.) Context: I am trying to use something like openfire as a Instant Messaging solution which already supports LDAP and SAML2. So this would allow the current user of emby to seamlessly use web-based instant messenger with the same username and password as Emby without the need to enter them into a form. This would also allow universal login to be shared with my home PC's, Spiceworks, Ombii, Organizr, etc. The multitude of possible flexible functionality this could add is truly incredible. THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE, myself and others cannot manage a userbase with proprietary passwords for a single service (with no self-service password reset/recovery), when things that have only months of development implement it within days, easily. Status: LDAP - Development Completed - BETA AVAILABLE! Common LDAP solutions to test against:Open LDAP (Open Source) [use this] ApacheDS OpenDJ 389 Directory Server Microsoft Active Directory SSL is NOT actually needed, but Emby team insisted on it anyways: Simply offering a toggle option for auth to send plaintext or encrypted passwords would work just fine. It is ironic to claim the need to be overly security conscious of user passwords, while lagging behind on basic SSL. If SAML is implemented, a SAML request/response can just be signed by an x509 and it is just as secure as TLS using SSL. SSL does not need to be natively supported, as it is perfectly possible to run it through an SSL reverse proxy tunnel and have the same effect. SSL Feature Request: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/33983-ssl-integrationsupport/&do=findComment&comment=322526As of now username and password is encrypted client-side as security as SSL is not natively implemented. Emby team has said this impedes the adoption of both SSO and LDAP. Please see our SSL request topic; like, comment, and endorse it to show how many people would enjoy/gain from this basic security. Ways to satisfy this FR: Direct LDAP connector SAML2 connector General SSO functionality (SSO Header, etc) Allowing user header auth NGINX auth support RADIUS Authentication Other features that are inherently possible if this is implemented: Self service passwords Ability for users to invite users/guests Expiring Accounts (after duration/trigger) Unified credentials for many services Corporate level authentication security User groups Mass User management Update 1: I encourage others to work on this but I am currently seeing what I can do to develop a solution to this myself. If you have experience in this LDAP/SSO/SAML2/SSL/.NET contact myself, @@Luke, @@ebr or the Emby team to let them know, any help is greatly appreciated! By everyone! Update 2: I know there is always the question of "well how many users actually want/will use this", so I compiled a list of some of the other threads/sites where people request this (to apparently no effectiveness in motivating the team). Update 3 (18 MONTH UPDATE): This request has now hit 18 months in age, NO progress made thus far whatsoever. ( ) Update 4: This FR is now the 4th most liked post ON THE ENTIRE FORUM and the 3rd most liked FR ON THE ENTIRE FORUM (ever), the 1st most liked active FR ON THE ENTIRE FORUM and over 4000 views. Counting endorsements besides those on this thread show over 115 direct requests/endorsements for this basic functionality. Lets get this moving guys, this is getting to be a bit much. Almost 2 years waiting on this now. Source Update 5 (9/20/2017): This feature request is now the MOST DESIRED REQUEST EVER MADE TO EMBY, sadly, that has not merited any progress at all. The staff has been working on things they believe Emby users want or may want, but it is clear what people want. We can only hope now our wishes are respected instead of being told what we want and having our requests dismissed. Source Update 6 [2 year update] (10/17/2017): Two years and not a single bit of progress has been made. TWO YEARS!!! To say this is disappointing is an understatement. The entire reason I went from Plex to Emby was because of local user management. THIS IS THE ONLY REASON, so naturally I wanted to have complete control over my users, but after TWO YEARS, still nothing. Update 7 (3/6/2018): DEVELOPMENT HAS STARTED!!! Check Luke's recent comments, if you want to test it out, download the latest beta and install/configure the LDAP plugin to test and give feedback!!! Update 8 (4/6/2018): Development on the LDAP connector has completed from what I gather, not sure if this is only a beta or a primary release; SSO is still a plan for the future but has not been touched. Progress made by other users (looks to be nearly, if not fully complete): https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/pull/1885 https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/pull/2139 Exploits shown by other users against Emby (emphasizing the need for a centralized authentication solution): https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/12335-unauthenticated-access-over-the-internet-to-logs-folder/ https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/20376-all-folders-visible-to-all-users-after-upgrade/ Related FR that could be helpful: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/46635-support-for-logging-users-in-though-url-scheme/?hl=user Any of these could be interesting to have compatibility with: http://lemonldap-ng.org/welcome/ https://github.com/Jasig/cas http://passportjs.org/ https://www.nginx.com/resources/admin-guide/restricting-access-auth-request/ LDAP/SSO/SAML Requests (~180 endorsements) [>12,000 views] > 95 endorsements on this post ~ 30 endorsementshttps://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/1146 > 35 endorsementshttps://www.bountysource.com/issues/24943821-authenticate-users-using-ldap > 14 endorsementshttps://feathub.com/tidusjar/Ombi/+122 > 4 endorsementshttps://www.reddit.com/r/emby/comments/5o44wd/creating_deleting_updating_users_with_the_api/ Interview, in article comments user said lack of LDAP STOPPED him from using Emby (Emby is actually losing customers due to the lack of this NECESSARY basic functionality):https://www.linux.com/news/software/multimedia/856128-exclusive-interview-emby-founder-luke-pulverenti Duplicate, user had no progress on first 2 posts (no one from Emby actually tracked this or even replied to him):http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/861-mb3-and-active-directory/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/867-mb3-and-active-directory/ Auth announcement, user 'Drashna' in comments requested LDAP/ADhttp://emby.media/community/index.php?/blog/1/entry-177-manage-your-home-with-emby-users/ Various similar requestshttps://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/2494 https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/2493 https://forum.yunohost.org/t/integration-emby/912 http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/13081-active-directory-integration/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/11200-media-browser-3-server-ldap-active-directory/ External SQL auth request:http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/27986-emby-and-shared-mysql-database/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/23509-authenticate-users-via-external-mysql-database/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/12001-external-login-to-mysql/ #ADFS #SSO #LDAP #ActiveDirectory #MSAD #SAML #SAML2.0 #SAML1.1 #PingFederate #OKTA #LemonLDAP #JASIG #authentication #auth #TLS #SSL #Usergroup #usertemplate #header #authheader #headerauth #security #hardening #authhardening #authenticationheader #externalauth #centralauth #centralizedauth #centralizeddb #exploit #authexploit #security #loginhardening #authenticationhardening #accesscontrol #.NET #SelfService #RADIUS

  6. Hi, there is no way to avoid this. In the future we might generate those images separately for each user in order to resolve this issue. What you could do right now is assign your own image to the genre and that will prevent the automatic image from being created.

  8. It took ages for me to get around to doing this but what I needed was to clear out my custom stuff from %appdata%/mpv and place things in a folder called portable_config beside the mpv.exe so that I only get this UI when using mpv outside of emby.

  9. push up... a five year old request, which really didn't take a lot of efforts to implement it. In my opinion the original title can be showed down, next to all the other media informations.

  10. You could try M4A which is the extension for audio only format just like MKA is the audio only extension for matroska. I have all my Dolby Atmos pure audio music albums in M4A format and it works fine in an Emby music library. Triggers Atmos and all. You can even tag M4A using Mp3tag app and musicbrainz data.

  11. It does not use an absolute path to be compatible with all distros out there, unfortunately not every debian-based distro puts ldconfig in /usr/sbin, and the fact that Debian 12 does not put /usr/sbin in PATH is simply beyond me (it's so ridiculous even that there's probably something else going on, you can't not put /usr/sbin in PATH). In any case I will have to make an exception to look in PATH first, then fallback to /usr/sbin/ldconfig.

  12. Luke, I appreciate what you guys do and I pay to fee for Emby Premiere servie to give back but often times I see reported issues recieve the "We'll take a look at it" response and that's where it ends. Again, I understand this free to the public but there are issue that we'd appreciate updates on. Or if the issues or request are unable to be addressed or doesn't fit the direction of Emby you would understand if that's the feedback we recieved. Thanks in advance and Thanks for what you provide.

  15. Right, the convenience of app.emby.media is that it's one url for the browser that never changes. When you connect directly to your server, you may have to change the url in the browser depending on where you're connecting from.

  17. Hi, we are looking into improving it. Thanks.

  18. It was mostly a separate question. But I'm guessing it's a Linux thing, not Emby. I just thought that the error was because that folder wasn't readable. I have to add for clarity, that I backup into one of those "readwritepaths", all my media is under there. So adding that path effectively allowed the backup to proceed.

  21. Is your Emby exe stored on an ssd or spinning rust? 30 000 files to catalogue will take some time. Even at one second a piece, that's 500 minutes or over 8 hours. If you're impatient, instead of doing everything at once, load them slowly. Probably 1000 files at a time.

  22. Thanks, I'll have to give this a try. I already manually created the new Jail and installed the server. I allowed it to sync and just about done going through everything to make it match my primary Emby server. I may create a jail and install Emby just to test this.

  23. Android 14 will supposedly provide support for direct USB DAC playback along with the "bit perfect" playback, therefore, below is the available documentation about it, I hope that you guys take a look at this and implement the API in the Android app, I will be more than happy to test it out with my DAC and provide support once I get a phone with Android 14 of course: Preferred mixer attributes on USB devices: https://source.android.com/docs/core/audio/preferred-mixer-attr?hl=en AudioMixerAttributes: https://developer.android.com/reference/android/media/AudioMixerAttributes

  25. Have you tried the Backup & Restore plug-in? This isn't an exact backup but it does preserve the important data and the rest rebuilds. It produces: Which when you rebuild/install Emby you load this into an accessible folder, add the plug-in, and point it at it. (at least when I conducted my test a couple of years ago this worked. I will likely retest it the next Emby Stable build that is released)

  26. The emby team still hasn't fixed the Korean subtitle output I've been using the life cycle since the beginning of emby, but it's gotten to the point where I can't use emby anymore The emby android app is still unreadable, the emby android tv app doesn't show subtitles at all, chromecast has a slow connection and can't play in the middle position The point is, it's become the worst player ever I knew it was pointless to wait any longer.

  29. Guess "Bluey - S00E27 - Animation Sample.mp4" in file name is excluding it. Not sure I'm right. But you can try to remove that, as an test.

  30. Still hoping this becomes a thing. The one main reason I still use Kodi, It's much easier to see a row of shows ordered by the amount of episodes left to watch which is generally how i prioritize watching shows.

  32. Old feature request but....:D Would also like a more fine tuned option concerning the streaming bitrate for admins. If a user chooses a lower quality setting I would like to be able to override that in order to avoid some unnecessary transcoding (because the user someday clicked it and it stayed that way for years because he never bothered again and now everything gets transcoded to 3MBps)). Maybe even have it on a per device base, like the users browser does not even offer quality settings and emby allways tries to offer max bandwidth an don mobile devices have the quaility options enabled. Also an option to forcefully reset the quality options the user may have chosen once.

  33. Yeah, parser occasionally breaks on number-title series if using complex/nested folder structure. What you'd want is add both of those subfolders as a library path instead of your TV shows root, i.e. remove: \[TV shows root folder] as a path in your library settings and add: \[TV shows root folder]\0-9 \[TV shows root folder]\A-Z folders separately instead.

  34. I’ll add just to note it was not just the OP. Same experience: no metadata was fetching properly, rebooting Emby server from the UI fixed it (I’m on a Synology NAS).

  36. I understand hesitation with reviving a necro thread but since this is the *only* thread that comes up on a google search with the EXACT error "-60: SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate" text you get when trying to connect to a https emby server with a Roku device (and it hadn't been answered by the people that asked the question).... Leaving those of us with the same issue to dig-dig-dig to try to figure it out.... Here's my story, which is why I scratched my head so much up until now.... I've had a yearly SSL in place for a few years; I had SSL setup externally with Emby, and everyhing worked. (I.e., Samsung Smart TVs, the android app, apple TV, Roku, browser, etc). I recently setup NGINX so I could use a reverse proxy to internal service (including Emby) on the same SSL port. (so using emby.name.com or acme.name.com for example). Upon following setup on other threads in here, and overall nginx guides, I had a setup working PERFECTLY on everything listed above EXCEPT for ROKU. I'm guessing the problem may exist on other devices as well, but for the intent of this thread (the text Google returns), this appeared to be unique to Roku. How to find out if your issue is the same as mine, and maybe those who started this thread: I tested my certificate chain here: https://www.geocerts.com/ssl-checker It told me I did not have a complete chain, it returned an error: "A valid Root CA Certificate could not be located". (If yours is green for all entries, then the issue is something else). As suggested in another thread here I ran: echo | \ openssl s_client -servername domain.com -connect domain.com:port 2>/dev/null | \ openssl x509 -text Here's a suprising find.... Comparing the response against the KNOWN working Emby-with HTTPS direct (not using NGINX in the middle) vs. the NGINX proxy with HTTPS in the middle, the result was identical (no differences). (I expected a difference, since my keys were the same!). The solution is that you need to ensure the FULLCHAIN is being presented by your certificate (i.e., pem). Described here where someone else did similar troubleshooting: https://tsunderechen.gitlab.io/2020/04/nginx-ssl-certificate-fullchain-vs-cert/ There's many ways to get a fullchain cert, but in my case, I simply concatenaated them both like so: -----BEGIN CERTIFICATE----- ABCDEFG...12345 -----END CERTIFICATE----- -----BEGIN CERTIFICATE----- ABCDEFG...12345 -----END CERTIFICATE----- The first entry was my domain pem, the second was the intermediate (CA Root) pem That was it. It works now.

  37. Hello everybody! Just wanted to drop in to say the exact same thing happened to me this morning! Restarting the Emby Server process from the CLI of the operating system where Emby resides had no effect. However, restarting it from the UI (Dashboard) got me back to where I needed to be. Weird.....

  38. There was one more audio track, which made the movie play without issue. So the TrueHD was messing things up. Thanks!
    1 point
  39. You haven’t provided media info, but it looks like you’re trying to play TrueHD or DTS audio which isn’t supported on your TV. This causes problems when trying to DirectStream some 4K HEVC files. This has always been an issue but only effects some specific cases so you might not have seen this problem before. Does the file have another type of audio track that you can select before starting playback?

  41. This message is to inform the community that the problem has been SOLVED !!! Internet provider's fault. In the last days I found other two apps with same issues as Emby for Android TV: the app to monitor the photovoltaic panels and SkyGo (the app to watch to Sky programs from Internet). I installed TCPDump on the access point and captured the traffic and I looked into it with WireShark and found strange things. I called the internet provider ( Vodafone ) thay told me such behaviour heppened 1 month and half ago, updating the firmware remotely of the routers, to fix some security issues. Unfortunately such fixes introduced side effects (they told) that have been fixed on the very last generation of routers, but not the old ones, so... this morning a technician was here and replaced the old router with a new one. NO MORE ISSUES... now Emby connects in seconds and also all the other apps work perfectly.

  43. NP. unfortunately no. It's a MacPro 3,1 and that's as far as I can hack it without a updated GPU. Which doesn't really pay at this point. When work starts to flow I'd just buy an '18 mini for the server.

Enough of that. I have now made updates to both the stable and beta version. The beta was a big update as a lot of things changed but I think it should all be good now hopefully. For some reason I cant edit the main post (do you know why @Happy2Play?) so the updates can be found attached to this post instead.
