  1. If Emby server 4.8 is going to be released "soon" as has been discussed elsewhere, doesn't it make sense to get all of the platform targets to a buildable state as soon as possible? There appear to be at least a dozen and a half targets that are build with each of the beta releases. All kinds of odd things like Western Digital NAS builds. But the MacOS build has never shown up. If it is tricky to build that for some reason, doesn't it make sense to start doing that now, rather than wait until 4.8 is about to be released? Or are you actually deciding that you are not going to support MacOS as a server any more? I would be very sad if that were true. I'm asking because it's super weird that you have so many different targets built, but not MacOS. Thanks for reading. Brina.

  2. Hi. Isn't that functionally the same as what we have now when each of those accounts is remembered on the device? Someone has to manage those accounts because you want the restrictions, visibility and user data tracking on each of them. It sounds like you are just wanting to farm out some of that administration - which is fine but it creates a complication in implementing this. This is still a valid request but the moves we are making now will get 90% of the way there for a lot of our users.

  3. Hi. Keep in mind that we are supposed to be a personal media server for a single household. What you are suggesting has quite a few complications in that it requires administrative ability on the part of a user that probably doesn't have that ability defined in your server. We very well may implement some sort of "sub-user" type system but there are a lot of considerations that go along with that. Until then, for most people, the new system can work and feel very much like sub-users with the caveat that the administrator does still need to administer all users of his server. Thanks.

  4. Hello, Is it possible that in a version of emby a "ping pong" is performed in websocket to maintain a connection via a reverse proxy? Let me explain. Apart from reverse proxies such as caddy or traefik (for those I know) there is no real timeout for websockets. For reverse proxies like haproxy or nginx, the timeout is defined either by default or by the user. In the case of haproxy or nginx, if someone pauses a video that lasts more than an hour (a movie, for example), the websocket timeout will occur before the end of the movie. Or if, when playing an episode of a series lasting 40 minutes, the viewer pauses the video for 20 minutes, the connection will be closed before the end of the episode. Having the client send a message and the server reply every X seconds/minutes would eliminate the problem and prevent the connection from staying open for 1 hour for no reason, as in the nginx configuration. Also, I saw a message saying that if a connection was closed unexpectedly, for resource reasons, there was no attempt to reconnect. Why not set up a number of reconnection attempts? For example, the client tries to reconnect 3 times, and if none of the attempts work, the connection is aborted. This would, I think, allow better websockets management and avoid connections being open for hours. Or even when changing networks (LTE->wifi or wifi->LTE), this would make it easier to re-establish the connection than quitting the application and reopening it. To avoid sending just a "ping" and a "pong", useful information can be sent through websockets when the client supports them, such as the position of the video playback (which is currently sent via http), because a request via websocket is faster than an http request and sends, with the same information in the body, less data than an http request.

  5. In my house, I would like to see a User Profile selection similar to Netflix. Using my single logon, I would like my family to choose between who is watching. That way each of us can watch shows without marking it watched for someone else. In this scenario, I would have a 4 users in a Family Group using the same username/password.

  6. Hi, I’d love that audio and subtitles choice would be saved per show, according to what you select on the last episode you watched. The main audio/subtitles parameters is a good point but there are many cases it is not enough and you need to adjust audio and subtitles at the beginning of every episodes. For example i like to watch Casa de Pale in Spanish with french subtitles, The Big Bang Theory in English with french subtitles, French TV shows in french without subtitles, ....

  7. Also, It would be cool if we have various m3u lists and have the option to choose/assign each m3u list for each user.. Example. In user settings we can choose which library to give them for VOD so this shouldnt be hard enough to do it for live tv too no? USER 1 - Playlist 1 - Playlist 2 - Playlist 3 USER 2 - Playlist 3 USER 3 - Playlist 1 - Playlist 3 Etc etc.... *** Delete this message from another topic I opened because I posted it by accident there

  8. I love the additional subfolders for Movie Extras (eg, Shorts, Scenes, Interviews, etc.)! I would like to propose an additional folder: "Galleries". Within the Galleries folder the user would place subfolders (only one level of nesting) and each subfolder could contain any images the user chooses. Then, Emby would display the subfolder name as an Extra (in Emby Theater) and opening that extra would launch an image gallery of the containing images. For example: Movies\Disney\The Sword In The Stone (1963)\Galleries\Scrapbook Movies\Disney\The Sword In The Stone (1963)\Galleries\Film Facts "Scrapbook" is what would be listed among other Extras in Emby Theater, and the Scrapbook folder contains various images to be displayed in a slideshow that the user can navigate with their left/right arrows. This feature request is motivated by the following related post: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/55912-video-ts-folder-no-longer-recognized-in-movie-extras-folder/ Basically, sometimes there are extras such as image galleries and text content which are only available via the DVD menu. I have found that I can use FFMPEG to extract all the frames from a video file, and so use that on the appropriate VOB file from the original DVD. Then I can use VisiPics to delete all the duplicates, resulting in content I can then sort into folders (eg, Concept Art, Storyboards, etc.). All I need is for there to be the above support for a Galleries extras folder, which could contain multiple subfolders (only one level deep), each containing images to be displayed as image galleries in Emby Theater, etc. Thanks for your consideration! PS - If this is something you might like to see implemented, be sure to "Like" this top/first post (as well as any subsequent posts in this thread that highlight particular aspects of what you are interested in) -- "Liking" the top/first post helps the Devs to know how much interest there is in a given Feature Request.

  11. I've checked the VUplus EPG data: indeed, it doesn't contain any TV-series data, nor does it contain any TV-station logo/icons..... After you (Luke) confirmed that 'I think you will be fine', I installed the M3U TV Tuner and the XMLtv plugin's. I activated the: Guide data source with an payed IPTV guide: that solved the EPG issue of my VUplus UNO-4K: noow, all TV-station logo/icon's are available again ! Besides the VUplus UNO-4K TV Source, I added a payed IPTV TV Source: a huge amount of Labels and beneath that Channels are extra available By defining a new label by hand and choosing the channels from the IPTV TV source and VUplus UNO-4K source, I noow can make my own ideal channel list of TV channels in a combination of: the high-end / high quality VUplus UNO-4K and the moderate IPTV channels: great ! Thanks & best regards, Peter

  12. @SnorborUltimately only you know what features and UI you are looking for. Emby is free to install and use other than the Premiere features. You might give it a try just to see what it's all about. When I first tried Emby a few months ago, I ran it along side Plex with the idea that I would mess with Emby and continue to use Plex as my main media server. That didn't work out that way for me. Emby was so much better from the jump that I never went back to Plex at all. Weeks later I fired up Plex again to do some UI tests and some picture quality tests. Those made me happy that I had switched. You might feel differently. The big things that are important to you may be different than mine. Your clients may behave differently. The only way to be really sure is to try it. Best of luck to you, Brian.

  13. I had the same error and its was because of a missing websockets config in my reverse proxy (haproxy). haproxy.cfg (frontend) : acl hdr_connection_upgrade hdr(Connection) -i Upgrade acl hdr_upgrade_websocket hdr(Upgrade) -i WebSocket acl host_emby hdr_sub(host) -i emby.<mydomain>

  14. Don't know what kind of strange file some of ýou guys have but my Shield Pro (2019) plays everything I through at it using the standard Emby for Android app. No matter if 1080p HDR, or 4K DV remuxes, from 2.0 audio up to (real) TrueHD / DTS:X.

  15. Thanks, I resoved by myself, I google error code 10013, the reason of localhost refused is the port has being occupied by microsoft. Use command net stop winnat and then net start winnat can solve this problem.

  16. I'm sorry, I know this is confusing. What I did is to create a folder in what I think you referred to as the "data storage location" folder where all my mp3s are stored. In that folder I placed all the .m3u files which point to files in that same folder. I refreshed the music library, and it now seems to be sorted. I did not change any settings. I was able to create a new working playlist in this folder I created, and it worked. Thank you for the response, Luke. Took a while to get the old brain into gear. Walt

  17. Nah, cause we can keep pestering the devs here till they get sick and tired of hearing from us and work on something, where as Plex devs just ignore it and refuse to answer you, akin to putting their fingers in theirs ears and going "nahnahnahnah I can't hear you". Some things user request just aren't possible, and their stupidity/ignorance about that is what causes a lot of problems.

  18. Even though I use this as a personal media server, I always require a password to be entered. The sub-user would suffice as long as we can control the permissions of each sub-user. Something like this would be great: Each user would login with the primary user account, let's say, mostym. Then they would be greeted with accounts list (similar to NetFlix) and they can select a sub-user similar to the list below, if they want to change the sub-user to a different one, they can click on Change Sub-User from the Emby header navigation. That would be amazing and save me from having to manage my multiple accounts for each of my family members. >> Mom >> Dad >> Sister >> Brother

  19. Thrilling...I found the setting for HDR on the TV. It is only available when a movie is running with HDR. And it works correctly. When I disable it the movie is really washed out. Now I know the difference. So either I have bad HDR material on the bluray's, or the HDR implementation on the TV is bad. So everything works correctly. Well in a way. I'll look into this further and give feedback.

  20. Once all the clients have been updated to a) Save the password and b) Allow/enforce PIN if required - then for it's intended family/friends usage, this FR is complete. User groups etc are clearly not required for typical family use ...

  21. You can modify the timeout in your reverse proxy configuration and increase it to limit websocket disconnection (if your reverse proxy accepts websockets). The purpose of this FR is to apply Emby's own websocket management to prevent connections from being open for 1 hour or more on the various reverse proxies.

  25. Before you go ahead and label this a duplicate or suggest that the "set preferred language" option in settings pleases this request, I'm talking about a use-case for a feature such as this for scenarios where language-labeled subtitles doesn't benefit from the already existing preset in settings, i.e if you're watching a foreign media and there's a signs track in English because there's also a dub of the show. Having to change tracks every episode even though technically the correct language is selected but it's still not the right one gets quite tedious. What I'm suggesting is that you add the per-episode menu to the show/season details one more or less-.

  26. The easiest thing to do is to use the Scheduled task "Thumbnail image extraction" It can be run manually by pressing the arrow at the far right of the text. whenever you wish and it will scan your entire library and only create bif files if they are missing and if the library's setting allows that.
