Then please take the lead in this and create public repos and guide these creative people. Everyone does not have the competence or confidence to do it, or maybe note even use github etc2 points

I just want to bring up attention to AV1 as additional target codec for transcoding and comverting video. It's supposed to further reduce bitrates, which can be great in situations with limited bandwidth. Hardware players start to have support, with the Max version of Amazon's 4k FireTV sticks being a very popular and cheap option. Hardware Encoding is coming for sure too. So if/when HEVC gets added for transcoding, AV1 should be kept in mind too. And for conversations, things might actually be already there, since ffmpeg does have a encoder integrated.1 point

POSTERS "Posters" is in an Alpha stage of development. (was excited to share with the community, but there will be some fun things to fix) It is an application written in Javascript which will connect to Emby and display the a poster for the media item currently playing on a device. This app is hosted in the web browser. It can be run on Raspberry Pi, stuck to the back of an old computer monitor, mounted on the Wall. It can be opened in Chrome using 'Kiosk' mode, and the display set to portrait. More Raspi integration terminal commands to come. (Anyone with Raspi knowledge? It's time to shine!) It uses https://animate.style/ animations, so there is, literally, an bunch of possibilities in layout, and animations to make the posters app unique to each users tastes... More to come. How to use: Unzip the folder to the desktop (anywhere) Right click "index.html" Open in your favorite browser Discover your server Login Start to play a movie on one of your emby ready devices Watch the posters come alive TODO: A Landscape view Configuration options Terminal Commands for Raspberry Pi (kiosk browser, start in portrait, load html on start) Fix multiple streams cause images to reload. Maybe this is a good thing, we just have to slow it down. Take advantage of all the different animations available in animatecss libraries November 3 1. Added full screen capabilities, 2. landscape mode, 3. hidden fly-out nav for future options. November 2 1. First Upload DOWNLOAD: PosterApp_v0.22.zip1 point

I have again sent this information to our guide data provider. I pointed out we first brought this to their attention over 6 months ago, and it's still an issue. Carlo1 point

Great, I will do that, I'd like to keep the first posted updated with the latest release, saves new users trawling through all this nonsense :). I see you're a mod @GrimReaper, would you mind replacing the file for me...1 point

Yeah, I'll reply once the update has been rolled out to my device.1 point

what i personally do is just zip the emby folder under /var/lib and move it to the other server. The scan goes faster than a backup restore but idk if it's recommended. Also u may need to update some stuff in the config file to change the actual url/ip to the new server url/ip.1 point

I think this is resolved now. The 2nd reinstall worked (it was not updating Trakt so I had to uninstall and reinstall/register again). Everything seems to be responsive and Trakt is being updated. Thank you for all your help - you can now mark this as closed.1 point

That made me think and I could see I had set CEC to suspend Odroid, which would then be power cut when the TV turned off. I changed the CEC behavior to Shutdown instead, and that seems to have fixed the progress issues.1 point

Good, because when we release the upcoming 4.8 server release, your built-in web app will have everything that you see now in the hosted web app. It's the same amount of stretching, but probably the image is downloaded from the server at a difference size and that is leading to the improvement. There will always be some stretching if your images don't match the display ratio. The display ratio for movie posters is 2:3. Each image is evaluated independently, and if is close to 2:3 then we just go ahead and stretch it. If we didn't do that, then this is what you'd end up with: See how the first image is exactly 2:3, but the second and third images are not. I personally am willing to accept a little stretching for the uniformity, and over the years it seems most have agreed with that.1 point

Hi, yes it is, very actively. We are hoping to have something before the holidays.1 point

is there any way we can block this one particular user from uploading trailers to the theme videos network? Every time this person adds a new movie they put the trailer in the backdrops folder and it gets uploaded to everyone's servers. Its so tedious and annoying to have go through my media regularly to look for misplaced trailers in the backdrop folders. I have no problem if that is how someone wants their media to be displayed but it shouldn't be uploaded if it isn't a proper theme. Also now when someone actually does put in a proper theme it won't pull it unless you delete the trailer and then go into the plugin settings and mark it as not downloaded. sorry rant over. It's just frustrating.1 point

Great News! Emby for Samsung has been updated to 1.6.4 for 2021-2023 models ! For 2019-2020 models, coming soon hopefully.1 point

Yes - creating a channel on the home row - is just a matter of adding the items Id's from the collection - it's easy enough to do. Sure - which is why the idea of nested collections not being available is so frustrating. I would put all the MDB lists into sub catagories and maybe show that as a row. the good news is the in the latest beta, you can already show collections as home screen rows. Again pretty easy to do if the MDB collections are fixed - as we can just 'borrow' the images from the github ... and post to emby via the API1 point

Thanks a lot for the reply! Can't wait for 4.8 to be released. Cheers1 point

Well our new app update was approved by Samsung pretty quickly, so that's good news. Now we just have to wait for them to actually release it, and unfortunately, sometimes this can take a long time, like a month or more. But that's at least progress.1 point

Hi, we'll add a deleted event in the upcoming 4.8 server release. Thanks.1 point

I'd like to add the ability to convert to AV1 to Emby's auto-convert settings... I realize it's a bit "heavy" to ask for a sensible default setting of AV1 right now, so I was hoping you could just more generically add the ability to run "a command" against a given file for the conversion process. Then, any command that can be run by the emby user could be plugged into Emby's auto-convert feature.1 point

Intel's arc-series GPUs will do AV1 encoding, this will become interesting I think.1 point

Personally I think playlists are almost unusable until we get separate playlists for individual users.. I chose Emby over Plex mostly because I wanted to share my media library with my family and friends. Emby looks and performs better (in my opinion) than plex for sharing with non-tech savvy family. That said, when all users get all playlists and everyone can edit them regardless of who created the list, it becomes unusable. This makes me reconsider offering my music collection to my family, as it is in my opinion the one section that really needs playlists, but in its current form is more of a hassle than a feature.. Please Emby team.. Before adding bells and whistles to playlists, give us the basic functionality we need.. individual user playlists.1 point

No. You can either add those as Aired order Specials for Neon Genesis Evangelion or DVD order Season 3 of the same series.0 points
