  1. Poster Overlay GUI A simple Windows Forms application that allows users to add 4K Ultra HD Banners to their movie posters. About: Firstly, I know that we have the coverart plugin but I prefer having a cleaner look with multiple options for my 4k library. I started making this app a few weeks ago with absolutely zero knowledge in coding, this entire project was built through using chatgpt to guide me into building, modifying and editing the code through lots of trial and error. I'm more than open to suggestions to improve and or add to the project (such as more banner options etc). Features: Choose from multiple overlay images (4k Ultra HD, with HDR, with DV, With HDR and IMAX and with DV and Imax) Preview the combined result Save the resulting image as a new file How to Use: Download and extract the PosterOverlay_v1.0.0.zip file from github. Run the PosterOverlay.exe file to launch the application. Click on the "Select Poster" button to choose the base image (poster). Use the dropdown box to select an overlay image. Preview the result in the main window. Click "Save Poster" to save the resulting image to your computer. Prerequisites: .NET 6.0 Runtime is required to run the application. Please download and install the appropriate version for your operating system. GitHub Link: https://github.com/pejamas/Poster-Overlay-GUI

  4. Hey, long time speak people, I hope youre all doing well! Sorry I've not been so active. A lot of family health issues have come about and currently spending as much time with my dad after a terminal illness diagnosis back in Feb. Just as a heads-up, some of the domains involved in the hosting of the theme media will be updated this evening. It shouldn't cause much issue but you may see your plugin fail tonight if it happens to be scheduled whilst the new stuff propagates.

  5. SOLVED! Apparently my LG C1 cannot handle 301 redirects correctly. I have emby running behind a reverse proxy that redirects http requests to https. This works fine for everything else but semmingly not for my TV. After I changed the "secure connection mode" setting in emby's network settings from "Disabled" to "Handled by reverse proxy" it started working. Sorry I didn't spot this earlier. Thanks for your support!

  7. I'm a plex life time member, but I have been using Emby for over six years continuously, but there is a feature which I have always thought is missing in Emby which I would like and encourage the developer to consider including especially in this dispensation where families can social or commingle due to COVID 19. Today, I received a notification from Plex about it new feature titled Watch together you can read about it here https://support.plex.tv/articles/watch-together/ The feature allows friends and families at distance to watch same movies together instantly, you simply invite all your buddy, once they signed to the system which can be seeing in the server then play and pause as needed, this I think is cool feature should be added to emby. Let's here your though if Emby developer should consider adding this feature to our beloved Emby Media https://www.bing.com/news/search?q=Plex+Watch+Together&qpvt=plex+watch+together&FORM=EWRE

  8. There are providers that disable m3u urls so converting using the usual method won't work. You could try running it through a proxy such as m3u4u or iptvboss as they will accept xtreme codes details and produce an m3u.

  9. Bumping this again. A proper Watchlist/Watch Later/My Stuff feature that is maintained for each user and appears on the Home Screen is sorely needed (and has been for years). It is the main view I go to first in every other TV application... and every other application I can think of has this feature (and has for years). With playlists assigned to users in the current beta, I'm hoping this isn't far away. But for heaven's sake, this really needs to get done.

  10. That is actually an area where i feel both Plex and Emby make a mistake. They limit features by not allowing developers to take full advantage of an ability that one client might have simply because other clients can't do it. While I do believe that look and feel should be similar across platforms I believe that trying to make them identical is simply done by making some clients dumber that they need to be simply because others cant do the same thing. I also do not like the idea of pandering to the "average" user as that also requires making apps dumber. But, so far, Emby has not really limited their apps much while Plex has. Plex tries to be the "prettiest" app but they miss a lot in functionality and usability. By trying to be everything for everyone they end up being nothing to no one. It is very hard, at times, to get through all the Plex crap just to stream a movie.

  19. Hi Luke, This is what I did: 1. Removed Emby 2. Rebooted Qnap 3. Checked that Emby Server directory was deleted 4. Installed Emby Opened Emby and all worked. Went through library setup and it all seems to be working. Now I am in wait as the library populates the movie details. This will probable take quite awhile as my library is large. Thanks for your help Rew

  21. The Plugin simply creates a new emby 'channel' based off a filtered list from all available Movies or TV Shows/Episodes. It really is nothing special but I'm bemused why it has taken emby years to include this basic functionality. People do not want to see a huge block of 100's/1000's of possible watch options listed alphabetically - they want it pre-filtered to give them 'latest releases', 'by genre' etc. All the other Apps have done this for years ... The option should be extended to show 'Playlists' in this 'channel' view - if allowed, you now have a very neat way to add to a 'watchlist' - simply add the movie/tv show to a personal playlist called 'My Watchlist' and it will appear as a row on your emby screen ... Some of these have finally made it into the latest Beta (see below) but @Luke has advised that they are short term additions until the proper 'smart' channels will become available. All I want to see (and what my plugin attempts to do) is add personal 'channels' into the Home screen - you can then set the filter as you see fit (A user wants to see all 80's movies for example) and that channel is then available in the list below so they can put it where they like on the opening screen. Limit it to say 5 channels per person as the channels need to be dynamically generated each time. Smartplaylists have been a thing for a while - but it's a 3rd party plugin (with constant compatibility issues) and displays as a playlist designed for music, not movies. We need the functionality of the Smartplaylist, but configured and displayed as an Emby Channel.

  22. So I've never needed to do this - but if emby is behaving inconsistently, then it may be the only option. https://emby.media/support/articles/TV-Naming.html#complex-folder-structure In the Library setting for TV Shows - Add MULTIPLE folders and include the year in the folder path. This is what what Grim advised originally (above) - but it has the disadvantge that you need to add each 'decade' as a new folder (and remove the L:\TV1 folder) - it depends how dynamic your collection is. So lets say you have a film from the 50's - so now you need to create a L:\TV1\1950s (at a file level) and you thus need to remember to add that into your library config as well ....

  23. Having just purchased a Tesla (Model Y), it would be awesome to get an Emby app into the Tesla "store". I have used the browser to open Emby, but don't get any audio. I have used the https://abettertheater.com/ mehtod, but still no audio. Anyone else have a solution that works please? I assume the audio issues could be the type, as I doubt everything is supported, but I would hope that Emby still detects the capabilities and transcodes accordingly.

  24. Yes, I tried and confirmed that before I posted. I gave up. This was supposed to be for a temp thing while I moved over to TrueNAS, but I just made the jump in full. There was something funky going on my with drives, so it is possible it was due to that.

  25. I was on vacation and unable to test until now. Rebooted the NAS and confirmed the workaround from the Asustor forums isn't persistent. Uninstalled the old *.14 release, re-installed the new release, and transcode options are indeed back. This is all on ADM 4.2.3.RK91. A new release of ADM is out for my NAS, but I'm going to let others beta test it. TL;DR: New version works.

  29. Composers is working wonderfully! Because I am no better than anyone else, I am never satisfied. Now i would like a tab for conductor, ensemble, and soloists too! Although I can live with it how it is. If these tabs are added, I would add one comment. Please pay attention to the guide Musicbrainz uses for setting the tags for classical pieces (and not that classical musicbrainz plugin which mangles things horribly). Then I think a music library switch would be sufficient rather than a whole new content type. Something like: 🞕 Files are tagged using Musicbrainz Classical Guidelines.

  31. Hi. This is already fixed for the next release of the app which should be soon. Thanks.

  32. If that is the case, then there is no reason to have individual descriptions or covers for each and every chapter/track; nor the ability to reorder tracks. Also, separating tracks and embedded chapters in the UI is confusing and unintuitive. So, either way it's done wrong. Either you're assuming audiobooks function the same as podcasts and so the reasoning why UI elements remain is because of a flawed concept; or you don't associate the two, and then the explanation just comes down to that it's unfinished. Don't get me wrong. I like Emby, and I use it regularly for video. And I will be happy to provide specific feedback, in a constructive manner, as to why it's not an optimal experience for audiobooks. But I need you to have an understanding, beyond the surface level of what I'm saying, of why I'm saying it. I need you to actually use it for audiobooks so you can understand why it needs improvement, beyond just the bare minimum of basic functionality. Then we won't have to have a back-and-forth as to why Author corresponds to the Artist tag, and Narrator corresponds to the Composer tag; or why Audnexus is a better source for metadata than Musicbrainz; or that audiobook collections should not pull metadata/covers from themoviedb; among other things. The current implementation for audiobooks still leaves much to be desired, and it would benefit the process if the people working on it experienced first-hand why that is.

  34. Were you updating from usb or did you change your region? The usb has a hardcoded expiration date inserted by Samsung when it's compiled so that it disables itself at 30 days. Luke is referring to the message Emby adds which starts a couple days before the time bomb occurs so that people have time to update before the whole app disables itself and spits out a different message inserted by Samsung. The store version will never expire. Samsung just isn't going to update it after 5 years unless the developer is a partner.

  35. Hi, yes that’s not a bad idea. Thanks.

  36. Any chance this will make it to server side so it can be ENFORCED as a policy server side for clients? I think Emby is missing ability to check "Enforced" or "Preference" to each applicable user settings, from the server side. If Preference is ticked, the setting is set as a default, but user can change it (this default could be different to Emby's own default out of box). If enforced is ticked, then the user can't change on the client. If both Enforced and Preference are unticked then its just Emby's own out of box default that can be changed on the client. You can't tick both those boxes as web form wouldn't allow.

  37. ok that's not going to work for me then. I just don't want it listed as a library on the home dashboard.
    1 point
  38. Yeah, one relatively easy option here would be a customizable display limit with a "more..." button. So, you could sort your easy access ones to the front and tell it to only show x of them.
    1 point
  39. I agree, I think this would be a really useful feature. I want access to all my libraries but I don’t want to see them in the home screen. In the web client this is straight forward as you have the menu on the left. On apps like android it’s going to be more complicated. Perhaps a catch all “all remaining libraries” button at the end of the row?
    1 point
  40. That would not work. I think Plex nailed it. I primarily want to have access to Movie, TV, Shows, Russian Movies, Documentaries. From time to time, I want to watch something from TV Nature or Animation or WWII Libraries... With Plex, I can "pin" my main libraries and have them at front to easily navigate. At the same time I have easy access to other libraries if I need to. This way, I can keep track of played/unplayed in my account. Emby brings everything to the Homescreen. Four to five libraries are ok. But when you have about 16, it becomes cluttered.

  41. Technically there is a hack to the users config.xml to hide libraries from My Media by adding the libraries string to <MyMediaExcludes> from <OrderedViews>. You just have to go into each library to see the ParentID. <?xml version="1.0"?> <UserConfiguration xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <AudioLanguagePreference /> <PlayDefaultAudioTrack>true</PlayDefaultAudioTrack> <SubtitleLanguagePreference /> <DisplayMissingEpisodes>false</DisplayMissingEpisodes> <GroupedFolders /> <SubtitleMode>Default</SubtitleMode> <DisplayCollectionsView>false</DisplayCollectionsView> <EnableLocalPassword>true</EnableLocalPassword> <OrderedViews> <string>32ee4031a446b13e1c5b0b4ebebde05b</string> </OrderedViews> <LatestItemsExcludes /> <MyMediaExcludes> <string>165db2549e77c71dacef0e83a95cc5de</string> <string>7e64e319657a9516ec78490da03edccb</string> <string>b86cd6e32cadce54f73e3ed08c6f5e0d</string> <string>1e718d3df428c1e97f7f2e95db8d1222</string> <string>a329771776adbdb07b6c33f01ea51e49</string> <string>9d7ad6afe9afa2dab1a2f6e00ad28fa6</string> <string>f1ffda17fff72a19997ec7e667bb8d3c</string> <string>3aeb99515c5a4d67fe12f482a99e3d6c</string> <string>00e6b1ff67d0cfb65ba8825631fe1b94</string> <string>fea9a46783f935a0acd44078a7c8b0bc</string> <string>2c7c652c0f2ba701e263c45458e1c57b</string> <string>0065100693b349955b725be01e212708</string> <string>28b5d5b8bef4bd1f1914503b5c11ac91</string> <string>b8c6884895a8fb91c0bd4ec0573e0137</string> <string>7c59a598afef455d09ded8af12fa503d</string> <string>4e985111ed7f570b595204d82adb02f3</string> <string>62ade2ba7cdb6010894c0a6acf9cd727</string> <string>71c66a8d96a733cc1741912a83ece1f8</string> <string>5949d81105d0e69f57107aa56a64ec06</string> <string>d4f9f1e19973c2c52c4ad58c85462739</string> <string>76d537b474d43a143539dd4ad0000d9c</string> <string>e957f9042f99d8b3c9c0f7f4d81898b8</string> <string>40b0fe5dacfa2819842f5facb9fd9a24</string> <string>e571044e42838df0e0bc9ba33cf224c7</string> <string>0a07eda4493d2a42d1ae97a8df7b3b21</string> <string>3c6fdef732819d7e273668e685ba9fa5</string> <string>00a9dd5c40593aadfdcb8c91bc265f5d</string> <string>3be85d245942169487a1ce3c6da4044d</string> <string>6a28d8fe1cb7bfb5fc396463c6517f64</string> <string>0904935442732fb0e1bdc2dc1b0b0fea</string> <string>1dd16bc5864afd5d3151afb445b33c59</string> <string>518de94b5ddf381e9e6297e2f1767c44</string> <string>9713ca41539b6bcc9215a8bbed2b1b32</string> <string>35470511eeb8e934f873e97b483b3831</string> </MyMediaExcludes> <HidePlayedInLatest>true</HidePlayedInLatest> <RememberAudioSelections>true</RememberAudioSelections> <RememberSubtitleSelections>true</RememberSubtitleSelections> <EnableNextEpisodeAutoPlay>true</EnableNextEpisodeAutoPlay> </UserConfiguration> But at the same time it will affect all the additional rows like Next Up, Continue Watching depending on what is actually hidden, but everything is still searchable. Note just navigating to user preference Home Screen will adjust/rest these options. Only did a quick test. You have to adjust the config.xml with the server offline. Luke would need to expose/add "Display on home screen" to each library on Home Screen settings, just like the option that already exist for example Collections and Playlists.

  42. I simply created a separate Admin account for when I want to access all content. I have my regular account where I don't have to see all the clutter that is irrelevant to me. Perhaps this would work for you?

  43. I really do. I have not followed Plex in while. Is there some serious privacy issues? What is the latest status? My Emby home screen has 16 libraries that I have to navigate. Plex has three libraries pinned and 13 more available on demand. Current Plex is simpler to navigate. Edit: Actually, changing Emby Home screen setting to small icons makes things better. But there is no way to trigger scan library when the small icons are enabled.

  44. Yeah, but I'm not using that piece of s...oftware. Yes, before recent updates in this thread I was using USB updates for several years. AFAIR, I'm using the same region (Russia) where this TV was bought. I tried to change the region to US or something else for some time to be able to install Emby, but ended up reverting that. Do not remember exactly why. Probably because of a lot of ads on the panel or some local apps being unavailable. Well, they achieved the opposite. Earlier I was saying to my friends that Tizen TV's are quite good especially when compared to WebOS TV's from LG. I was also planning to buy new model of smaller size to my study room. But now I'm not doing that anymore. I bought Xiaomi TV to my study room and checking out how Android TV / Google TV will perform. And for now it performs quite good. BTW, now I'm rooting a bit more for new EU DMA laws about "gatekeepers" and 3rd party stores on devices.
