  4. I few days ago, I side loaded the Emby Android client onto my Nvidia Shield. Previously I was using the Emby for AndroidTV. One feature of the ATV version is that the sort has the most common sorting items grouped together. Namely: Sort by Title Sort by Date Added These are right next to each other, at the top of the list. So, using a remote control to select these options is pretty fast. By contrast, on the Android version, these sort items are alphabetical. So going from Date to Title takes quite a few presses of the down or up key on the remote. This is quite a bit slower and less friendly for someone using the Android version of Emby on a device that is controlled with a handheld remote control. I can think of several ways to make this easier: 1. Have the Android App remember the last 2 or 3 Sort By settings and put them at the top of the list. Thus your most used Sorts will be right at the top and easy to use. You might add a setting to turn on and off this "most recent sorts" feature for those that do not like that behavior. 2. Or have a Setting for each sort by item that can be turned on and off. For me personally, I only ever sort by these two items (Title or Date). I would turn off all others if it was an available setting. All of this assumes that the Android client is "the future" for AndroidTV based devices and that development of the AndroidTV app is mostly over. Thanks for reading my suggestion. Brian.

  6. The ability to restrict this per user will be in Emby Server 4.8. It will require both the updated server and updated apps. Thanks everyone.

  7. OK we're submitting an update today that I think will resolve it. Please keep an eye out starting tomorrow and let us know if this resolves the issue for you. Thanks.

  8. You can't get in without the port being open - what else do you expect? As for the Samsung experience, was your phone connected to your wifi at the time? Emby Connect only passes back an IP address - unlike Plex, it doesn't offer an alternative data path. If your external IP is changeable, then yes, you need to subscribe to a DDNS service to avoid difficulties. Paul

  12. Nope, I was just trying to figure out where I needed to install it from, and I hadn’t read the part that it was in the catalog. I haven’t found any bugs yet, but I’ll let you know.

  13. @FrostByte In next version, plugin will support realtime boxset updates and also Kodi "native" favorites. Due to these fixes, I can also remove the specific Emby context menu and embed all Emby features into the native context menu.

  14. That conversion appears to have worked. Thank you for that. You mentioned the next update would fix the issue I'm having, how soon until that update is out?

  15. Hi, I been trying the 4.8 beta and it's much better, a little stutter, but if I leave loading for a few minutes it appears to work perfectly. I'll do more extensive tests and let you know. Thanks!

  19. and you've thought about the different strategies needed to deal with all of them? fire and flood need very different mitigation than mechanical, software or user failure

  20. Hi, thanks for the reply. Didn't notice the channel mapping tool. It did the trick, I could manual adjust the mapping for all channels! Thanks

  21. I've also provided a workaround by removing the CC with a simple ffmpeg filter. Not sure how many titles are effected, but until the fix, you could also go that route.

  23. Append "- TS" and "- MP4" to the file names (before the extension, which remains). Emby will then use just the part of the names which are different in that dropdown. Paul

  25. I would like to use a (DIY) NAS. Its just getting round to it. I'm hoping to use it just to backup but then think, with Unraid I don't need a backup, thats supposed to be what the parity is for. Then I think, yes but two separate drives sounds better, can be in different rooms or even houses then. Then I do nothing and suddenly its 6 months later.... 20TB drives must be fairly new though, can't they replace it for you ? I'd have to sell the children to have 32 20TB drives though. Obviously its tempting, but the missus wouldn't approve...

  27. TLDR: This will be in Emby Server 4.8, and actually, it doesn't require a server release, so you'll start seeing this option in Emby apps sooner than that.

  28. Hi guys, Ultimately we want this to be handled by smart views where you can design your own views based on a saved filter set and sorting... however since we're not there yet, we're going to add this to the upcoming 4.8 server release as a configurable home screen section, so look for it there.

  29. sadly no china i think the reason why china won't be accepted is because the person submitting it needs to be a registered here in china for distribution

  30. @fuzy01You're right. I think we're doing the right thing for most users. If you want a separate image extraction for every single track then we'd have to add a library option to control that. I'll try to get this into the settings UI for the 4.8 release, but if I don't, I'm adding a hidden config switch for the library options xml, ShareEmbeddedMusicAlbumImages. You'd set that to false. And then like changing any library option, you'd have to refresh metadata on existing tracks and check the box to replace existing images.

  31. Has the crossover of items not being updated issue been fixed then as described here ? - here certain things were not populated in the metadata editor, but were added and displayed in client displays. SO I think they were added correctly but the metadata editor not displaying all the data correctly? - if it is fixed I might revisit this plugin ....

  34. I am glad you solved your issues. I am very meticulous about my tags too but every once in a while I find an errant one but that is usually based on the original source of the files themselves.....in other words ones I where I did not rip the music myself and create that tags on my own. I have over 5000 CDs and when I loaded them into emby I began to find a few issues I did not know about because they never presented themselves with any other application I used to manage and play my music.

  35. I just stumbled across this excellent "hidden" feature in Visual Studio. Which lets you test api endpoints without having to run code for testing or even use Swagger to return jsons. It's simply a http file extension. Its epic!! Let me show you.... Create a new folder in your project and call it API Playground or something like that Right click folder and add new item and in C# items you should see http file Select HTTP File and give it a name like Emby API Endpoints once created you can use GET POST PUT & DELETE requests to test any endpoint. you can create and use variables. you just need to add the @ symbol before the name of your variable and to use it in your request you need enclose the variable name in DOUBLE curly braces.... {{myVariable}} To add multiple end point tests you need to do a triple hash key under each request ### and to comment you just need a single # prefix Click the little play icon next to the Endpoint you want to test and boom you will get all the info you need in a json right next to it!!! It's so cool, i didn't know about this amazing feature and wow does it speed up work flow. You can also copy the full json and then create new ModelDto's without even leaving VS!!! @chef @VicMoore @TeamB @ginjaninja @mickle026 @BillOatman This is true Wizardry!!! I'm sure you all knew about it, but i just wanted to share this!! Hope it helps someone else out.

  36. Hello, I categorize my newest movies in a New Releases section in my library and then after a couple months I move those movies into separate categories such has Blu-Ray Sets, Blu-Ray Movies, Animation Movies. When I move the movies to these categories they do not re-appear as newly added. I'd like to ask to have an option in the Date added behavior for new content section that allows you to "Use Date added to folder" or something that would flag it that those moves has been moved and are "new" to those categories. Thank you Tenyrsgone27
