  1. Not at all, I was just making a point as to how far off in left field the implementation is. If you or anyone on the team actually consumes audiobooks as content, run Audiobookshelf for a week and you'll see the difference, saving progress not withstanding.

  4. It would be great to have an option to search individual libraries. It would really help with large media libraries. Maybe some people don't need this option, but for my use it would be fantastic. Cheers!!

  5. Bandwidth would relate the video stream that is chosen ? If it had a 4K and 1080p stream - then by playing the 1080p stream, you would only require bandwidth for the 1080p stream ... Having two 'files' - you are doubling the space requirement for the Audio - which, if HD Audio, is not insignificant...

  6. We are currently backporting the fix in the beta packages to the stable packages. There were actually too issues, one caused by truenas using an EOL freebsd release, the other caused by skia and libjpeg being very temperamental.

  8. Hi, I would like to have an option to choose H265 instead of H264 in the Transcode option. It will be smaller for all bad bandwidth (2~5Mbit ADSL), but will have a great quality. Mobile phone can benefit of it greatly too with the 4G and the limitation of download.

  9. MKVs are capable of having multiple video streams inside of it. Some BluRays make use of multiple video streams, like animated films where some content like signs is translated to different languages. Or some films do have several video streams with additional content like a "before-CGI" version of the movie. Or you can choose of 2D video vs. 3D video. Kodi will support this in "Krypton" (version 17). http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=216672 So this works, when using "Direct Play". But not in other Emby-Apps or when transcoding. You can choose audio, you can choose subtitles, but not video. So it would be nice to have a "picker" for the video stream in Emby apps

  10. This will probably need to happen after books are treated as a single item regardless of tracks, but be able to bookmark various spots in the book and jump back to various timestamps. Might need to account for playback speed. Raising concern here for the checklist.

  11. Hi there ... is there is a way to send notifications to all users ? and maybe 1 user i know about when the user is watching a movie, i can send a msg . but i want like a notification when the user logs in then the msg will appear ( to selected user or all ) for more example, user 1 requested a movie, then couple of hours later i added this movie all along with other movies so it wont appear in the latest movies in the main screen so the notifications for User 1 only . and also if there is a way that users will send a msg to me regarding ( requests or subtitle errors, etc ... ) thank you

19. OK, believe it or not I have seen in the past some user files that contain musicbrainz id's of "usicbrainz...". So it is possible that the tagging software had a bug at that point in time (when the file was tagged). At the time I meant to add safeguards to avoid importing this data into emby server but it looks like i never did.

  20. Sin una respuesta directa del usuario, es difícil decir con seguridad, pero mi mejor suposición es que esto comenzó a las 19:17:38 without a direct reply from the user, it's hard to say for sure, but my best guess is that this started at 19:17:38

  23. I always assumed that Direct Playing means sending the whole file untouched directly. I have no problem with that. When you direct play you are inside your house and local network and there is no bandwidth problem. Having 2 video tracks in a file is totally ok for direct play sending.

  24. I have worked on the "Channels" tool in Bulky. It will read your VirtualTV channel setups. The first time you read this data the "Channels" will assume that you have no media selected for any of the 30 channels. With this tool you will select the media for each channel. Nothing is saved back into VirtualTV until you click the "Save VirtualTV" button. At the moment, processing of TV channels is slow. I will improve this soon. ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... .... ..... ..... .....

  26. Many times it has come up in this thread as a possible alternative to HEVC. However, it has its own set of challenges as well. This topic should have actually been labeled "Transcode to a more bandwidth efficient codec" because that is really what it is discussing but people often just see what they think is a solution to their problem and ask for that specific implementation. We should always be looking for the higher level problem and find the best solution to that.

  27. Probably better to not enter the Direct Playing vs Direct Streaming debate
    1 point
  28. But is it? Multiple video streams will multiply the bandwidth requirement hugely, whereas multiple audio and subtitle streams have modest impact. Surely it is better to have a separate file for each video layer, and add just the matching audio and subtitle streams. Virtually the same disk space requirement, and sensible bandwidth. The required version can be selected using the established versioning system. Paul

  34. That is not a border, it's part of an auto-generated library thumb (reflection of the poster above); you can't "get rid of it" but you can assign image yourself, lots of examples in Fanart & Videos forum section.

  43. A lot of these subs are probably available as external SRTs that would not require transcoding to view in just about any client but I understand from the perspective of the original PGS subs. Don't most BDs/DVDs have simple Dolby audio tracks as well as the advanced ones? You can choose the tracks to include in the target with makemkv. Add me to the list of no compression. Ripping is faster and disc space is cheap (relatively speaking).

  44. Right now there is no scraping for Audiobook content. If a user adds a book to their library, the have to fill out metadata by hand. With that said, it is possible to scrape Audible.com for most types of metadata that are relevant to Audiobooks. This is already implemented by the community for Plex: https://github.com/macr0dev/Audiobooks.bundle Since Emby will officially support Audiobooks, it would be nice to see that implemented here as well.

  45. I came back to Emby recently after having gone back to Plex for awhile. This time I'm throwing in the towel on Plex for good and came back with a lifetime subscription. Plex has gotten too bloated, buggy, crashed, had nothing but trouble. The added audiobook support is huge and I really appreciated the help and discussion in this thread. I wanted to add my support that I'd love a way to auto-organize and filter by Series. Right now I make manual collections for Series which gets the job done, but an automated solution would be huge. Appreciate all the great work and support you all do for Emby and the community. It's my all-in-one home media home now :)

  47. request: have Emby be able to read m4b chapters About half of the audiobooks I have do have chapters. I used to use $5 mp3 audiobook player pro but no need anymore on iOS since BookPlayer ($free) does everything. Only three things BookPlayer doesn't have that mp3 audiobook player pro does have are: 1) search (titles of book library). Not such a big deal since you can sort them various ways. 2) doesn't list size of m4b book 3) statistics shows last 30 days and average listening time, etc. None of those are deal breakers so I'm using the free BookPlayer even though I paid for the $5 one. Ok so from emby server if you use the iOS emby app you can download the m4b audio book and listen to it offline. Also supports streaming and resuming no problem. However, it doesn't show chapters even when fully downloaded. So a workaround is to connect via safari or any browser and navigate to the m4b audiobook on the emby server then click the ... (3 dots) and choose Download. It says view or Download. Choose download then save it to Files then open that up and open it up in BookPlayer and then I got chapters. Flacbox ($4 in-app) also can stream from wedDAV or SMB or cloud services but no m4b chapter support. So not sure if it has to read the entire file but I know it's not part of the metadata since I've stripped out all metadata and all hundreds of m4b audiobooks and the ones that have chapters still show. I strip out all metadata with MusicBrainz Picard so I can use folder based navigation and seems to work semi-decently. Anyway book player you can view the open source and see the code and see their implementation on how they read chapters for m4b https://github.com/TortugaPower/BookPlayer I'm not a coder so no idea if this is relevant or not 41A1B111226F88C500EA0400 /* Chapter+CoreDataClass.swift */, 41A1B112226F88C500EA0400 /* Chapter+CoreDataProperties.swift */, 41B2AC8D1D43CCE8005382A9 /* ChaptersViewController.swift */, 4140EA76227289B50009F794 /* Chapter+CoreDataClass.swift in Sources */, 4140EA77227289B90009F794 /* Chapter+CoreDataProperties.swift in Sources */, 41A1B139226FEDAD00EA0400 /* Chapter+AVFoundation.swift in Sources */, oops didn't see this thread. 48. It would be great to have the video stream selectable - same as is audio now. It appears to be getting more common to embed alternative streams (such as 1080p) alongside a UHD stream particularly within MKV's containers. This feature would allow us to select a 'best stream' for a given device, an example recently being my Samsung TV not handling 60fps which was the default stream in the MKV. A 1080p was available also but could not be selected, so my server had to transcode a large UHD high-framerate source file - pretty chunky cpu work which it struggled with and was not necessary.
    1 point
  49. I'm curious to know why this wouldn't just be an option, similar to Audio Track selection. Wouldn't we only see less ability to direct play/stream when selecting a secondary video track?
