  2. Welcome to the WMC UI Public Beta! Thanks for your interest in the WMC UI and for being part of this! Your help and feedback is important and essential for getting this to perfection and ironing out all those things that one alone can't find and identify as everybody has different setup and different ways of using Emby. There are two places for interaction and communication: GitHub: Issue-Tracking and Releases WMC UI Forums (here) Issues Issues are used for tracking work that needs to be done Please create a new for every problem you see, no matter which kind - can be errors, unexpected behavior, visual glitches, etc. Please check first, whether an entry already exists for the same problem If you think an existing entry is the same, but the situation is slightly different, you can add a message to the existing issue or create a new one, we'll then find out whether it's different or same WMC UI Forums We’re using the forums as a place for general communication like: Publishing announcements about when updates are published Asking questions about the WMC UI Sharing ideas and suggestions Please always start a new topic for a new subject and let's try to avoid endless conversations which are "about everything" Platform Availability The WMC UI Beta is currently available in the following forms: Web Browser & Installable Web App Emby Theater WMC (Windows) Emby WMC (Android) Web Browser & Installable Web App Web Browser There's an http and an https URL available: http://wmc.emby.media/ https://wmc.emby.media/ Emby Theater WMC (Windows) ClickOnce Installation (auto-updating) Win 64bit: https://softworkz.github.io/etwmc/setup/x64/ Portable Installs These are useful to test or compare specific versions or in case of issues with ClickOnce installation. They can be found in the Releases section: https://github.com/EmbySupport/Emby.WMC.UI/releases Just unzip and run. Emby WMC (Android) The app version can be installed in parallel to the regular Emby Android App and the ATV app. Please side-load the app by using the matching APK. The APKs can be found in the Releases section: https://github.com/EmbySupport/Emby.WMC.UI/releases NOTE The Android app is limited by date, so that it is working within 10 days after release. We'll try to always have a new release ready before the previous one expires.

  3. Just an observation that would make tracking 'tasks' in emby that much easier. The tasks in emby probably already have some form of 'task/process' id - could this be written to the log ? This way, you could filter on the 'process id' and see all elements of an individual task from start to finish. I know you log a 'Class' but these are obviously used for multiple processes so details get all mixed up and a 'task' may consist of multiple elements. So as an example - If you do a library scan - that consists of ffmpeg, ProviderId, QuickImage etc - it would be good if all that could be tied together with a single 'process id' for that manual or scheduled library scan. Thanks.

  4. Hi guys, please stop the emby-server service, rename the `/var/lib/emby-server` directory to `/var/lib/emby` and start the service again, should get you back on your feet. It's okay to delete `/var/lib/emby` before, it's automatically created when it's not found, please make sure the directory you rename still belongs to the `emby` user though.

  5. Maybe it's the just size then that makes it look old and outdated? I will say after testing both a lot this weekend. The Android TV app is way better. Although it looks older it performs much better.

  6. Hi, yes we’ll be getting a plug-in update out for this. Thanks.

  7. Hi Server is Version 4.7.13.0 The App is: Emby for LG 1.0.39 --------- The problem has resolved itself. I bought a new TV set. No not because of this issue but rather because it was going wonky. So perhaps it was the TV. At any rate everything looks fine on the new set.

  8. I really don't understand why people spend so much money on NAS boxes that have limited capabilities for the most part unless you spend even more money. Old PCs are everywhere, in people's closets or garages having been put out to pasture for one reason or other. I constantly get free PCs that people claim are broken that I fix with either no money or not much and almost all are far more powerful than most NAS boxes so they can actually transcode if necessary. Throw a hot swap cage in, fill up the inside with discs and for very little money you have a way more powerful NAS. Windows 10 is basically free (every machine I have gotten free actually had legal Windows 10 on it already so another legal license for me) and you can actually use an internal Microsoft hack to get around the hardware specifics for Windows 11 and upgrade for free. You can basically build a far more capable NAS for a little more than the cost of drives, which don't come with NAS boxes anyway. I had my second server running this way for quite some time on a second desktop I got out of my buddy's mother's garage when she asked me to haul it off. A new CPU cooler was all it needed and the video card was bad but I didn't need it anyway. I filled it with drives and hooked it up to my network. It was not only my file server and emby server but I used it to remote desktop into my other box which is my beta server, test machine, and the one I use to encode and organize content for emby. All this for under $100.

  10. Similar to this old post, I'm suggesting a tab that would be titled Watchlist and could be placed in between Suggestions and Favorites. The functionality would pretty much be a copy of Favorites, just with a + symbol added next to the heart and other symbols that let you favorite a movie etc. The previous post had mentioned extra functionality such as automatically removing a movie from Watchlist after it has been watched. This would be nice, but is unnecessary because after watching a movie you can simply click the + symbol a second time to remove it from Watchlist. I would imagine this would be very easy to implement as a rebranded copy of Favorites. Adding other features could come later. Edit: added link to old post

  11. I would like to allow users to reset their passwords via a time-limited reset link sent to their email, similar to how Ombi does this. Each user can have an email address linked, and the server has SMTP details set; users can then press 'reset password' and enter an email to have a link sent to said email (assuming they entered a valid one and its linked a user) which takes them to a password reset page where they can enter and confirm a new password. Only if any of this isn't setup correctly does it request you contact the admin instead. I've had a few users somewhat frequently forgetting their passwords, especially when they don't use emby regularly. It would be nice to have a way for them to resolve this themselves. Currently the 'reset password' link on Emby just tells you to contact the admin (presumably it's more functional with connect users? Don't know, I don't use connect) and it involves manually resetting their password for them to something fairly complex, sending that password to them via text/email (neither of which I'm comfortable with, I just just don't have better options most of the time), then hoping/pestering them to change it to something only they know. It's far more of a hassle than it needs to be and rather insecure.

  12. So I am reevaluating EMBY again for my needs and something that I just noticed is lacking support for ignore file with patterns. With a rather large anime library, some of the older best encodes for certain sources make use segment linking, so when I would usually split the OP/ED into an extra folder, in the cases of files using segments, I must keep them all together. This causes emby to display them under the season. Can we please get support for ignoring filenames using patterns (either via a file or field within the library section. See Plex's for an example: https://support.plex.tv/articles/201381883-special-keyword-file-folder-exclusion/ This is one of the few things holding me back from migrating to emby full time. The above is a good example, but I also use it heavily in my photos library as-well.

  13. I have noticed there is no way to configure the path used by Auto-boxset pliuging to create folders to hold created collections. Given this is, by default, under the Data folder within the install folder of Media Browser server, and the fact this is on my SDD drive, it would be great if this folder may be overriden to a custom path (the way other folders may be configured via the Control Panel).

  14. Maybe there could be an option to show only unwatched media in the "Because you watched..." and "Because you liked..." sections of the Suggestions Tab? Or is there already? Anyway, I'm using the web client via Firefox on a Windows 7 Ultimate machine...

  15. Just thought I’d take a moment to give my thanks to emby and maybe give a few tips for everyone whom needs to use emby when your internet goes down/is unavailable... Background: My ISP alerted me that there will be some outages starting today thru Monday while they upgrade the fiber in my area (not sure why I already have solid 1.5G). But my internet was indeed down for over 2 hours late this morning. Servers were unaffected (4.7.13 and 4.8.0.43). Worked as usual and could connect to my HDHR’s (Quadro and Flex) for Live TV and Recordings. Fire Stick’s (4K & 4K Max): at first seamed like they would not work (no apps available on home screen) → go to settings → apps then launch emby (works perfect). ROKU Stick:(was unplugged because I don't l hate it) complains about no network, just hit continue anyway then emby works fine. Local web access worked fine. My android tablet was/is using my FQDN (so I can access emby on the WAN) No surprise here (there was no way for my router to loop-back when there is no internet available). But the android app worked fine. I also tried switching servers (stable/beta) without any problems (other than needing to give my password). But from past experience if I(or you)(generally speaking) use a combination modem/router supplied by your ISP then when the ISP's internet is out it will not support your LAN and connections will quickly fail! (DNS/DHCP laps or just connection issues) So get your Own router and Bridge your ISP’s device (or if they offer it get a pure modem (without any router capabilities) if availably) so you can use your own router for your LAN when there is no internet. Again emby, Thanks for the hard work…

  16. This is currently automated for me so don't want to go back to manual. I did a search through the knowledge base and found a thread talking about library/media/updated where you nominate specific paths that have changed. So far this seems to work and does not take a whole heap of resources.

  17. Ok NVM I just pushed my quality to 4mbps(1080p) to skip the io issue for now. Anyway I was able to just now replicate the issue on my Roku TV. Played movie1 then skipped to a 30m time stamp and then stopped the play. Resume says it would resume at 30m. Went to play movie2 that had a resume time of 10mins and it started playing movie1 at 10m start time. So now that I can replicate this maybe I can help provide more info and try other stuff. Let me know where you'd like me to start.

  18. What would you like me to review? You probably enabled the advanced server option to force the display of original track titles.

  19. of course wen i start testing with my spare roku tv i have another issue(s) to look into first. I put a post up so when i can figure that out then il try replicating my other reported issue.

  21. I have not found one that collects all media of this type. The following catalogue the Doctor Who related audio dramas, which run to the 1000's. https://www.timelash.com/tardis/items.php?type=audio&category=audiodrama http://drwhoguide.com/bfaudio.htm Blake's 7 audio dramas are catalogued here: https://blakes7.fandom.com/wiki/Blake's_7

  26. Thanks for the quick reply! I installed the beta and found the option - works as expected now.

  27. HI, the server ignores the headers that point to local network addresses, so this is likely the reason why. If you install the 4.8 beta server, it has added a new configuration option so that you can control it.

  29. We are asking for a shortcut key to directly open the osd live tv guide, because neither the standard android app, theater on windows, nor the web app has that! So what should we check when there isn't something to check? The same goes for number input. Your apps have to react on number key codes to navigate thru the live tv guide. You have to code the functionality in your apps before we can try to program our remotes sending the correct key code.

  30. Maybe its also skin related, donno, I've had to do a db reset to get a user swap to "take".... not the end of the world now that initial sync takes less than a month... im on 64bit win pc In case it helps, but I'm moving on and calling resolved if not solved. Cheers

  32. Everyone, I added a new feature to Bulky. It's called Explorer. You use it to explore your Emby libraries. Through this tool you can study how Emby links objects together and what is in each object. I build it just for fun. It's very helpful if you are building Emby tools. As always, the code is free if you want it. Vic

  34. I forked the release (I hope TeamB doesn't mind .. I'm just working on it for movies ..) So far so good - JS needs a bit of formatting but c# compiles so almost there .. edit .. hmm changing the JS elements over to Movies seems to have broken it good and proper.. Can't spend any more time on it today - but the framework is there.

  37. I did try searching... While watching TV episodes, at the end of the episode when the prompt comes up for playing the next episode or stopping playback, it has come up several times with my spouse what the current time is and how long is the next episode/when will that episode stop (current series we are watching has a variety of episode lengths)... This is info you see back at the episode selection, I think it would be useful to display during the next episode prompt.

  38. On surround sound audio, dialog is often only on the center channel. If you are designating the audio output mode as surround sound, then left and right will hardly have any dialogue for most situations. Audio setup for hardware cards can be usually siwtched from surround to stereo downmix to go to the audio outputs, then left and right should carry the dialogue. You could also add a center speaker with an amplifier and plug it into your center out channel to get mostly dialogue from that speaker. In that case headphones would not work because they are pulling left and right which is background audio sound effects and music. If you are sending surround through Wifi to the TV, then the transfer hardware and the receiving TV audio processing both need to support the type of surround sound you are using. Often Wifi connectors just do that. So even if the TV could do it, you won't get surround and there fore never hear a stereo downmix. Hope that makes sense.

  42. With evergrowing movie/TV show library and memory not what it used to be, causing more and more titles to appear unfamiliar, could we get Genre(s) as Library view three-dot menu Show fields option, along all the others, to show underneath item images? Thanks.

  43. OK so the issue is that internet metadata for artists is not currently supported in music video libraries, so this is why you're not getting anything for them. This is easily added though and will be added for the upcoming 4.8 server release. Until then, If you have a music or audiobooks library containing the same artist, then they'll be able to get internet metadata that way.

  44. Hi. What type of audio? As a test, if you set the app to "mix down to stereo" does it make a difference?

  45. Emby for LG 1.0.37 features Intro Skip, Lyrics & RTL Support Embedded Lyrics Support for Music Files Emby now supports display of musical lyrics you provide. This doesn't require modifying your actual music tracks but is done using a text file residing next to the track! You can quickly and easily use a tool such as MediaHumon Lyrics Finder that makes quick work of adding Lyrics to your existing content. Rescan your music library and have this: This is a great new feature that's easy to implement, uses hardly any storage space (text files) and gives you great results! (first icon bottom left) Audio now playing screen The above picture shows one view of our new audio Now Playing Screens. Here's another version of the same screen without the lyrics showing your current queue: Save Time with Emby's Intro Skip New to LG 1.0.37 is the ability to skip TV Show Episode Introductions segments. This allows you to jump right to the start of the action, saving a great deal of time allowing you to quickly get to the good stuff! Combine Into Skip with Automatic Play Next Episode for a superior binge-watching experience! Please see our blog post on Intro Skip setup and use on the server side: Configure Emby Client for Automatic or Manual Intro Skip Each client can be set to ignore TV Show Intros, automatically use Intros, or to prompt use showing a button. You can set this option in the client option's Playback Menu. Using Intro Skip With the Skip Intro button selected you can clearly see the button on the OSD immediately at the start of playback. The timeline is still at 0:00 before the show has started to play and we can already skip the introduction of the show. Clicking the Skip Intro button immediately jumps right to the start of the Episode. With the client option set to Automatically skip intros our TV show intros have been put on auto pilot. Right at the start of playback it jumps to the end of the intro right at the point of the fade in. Right to Left languages: Emby for LG 1.0.37 takes advantage of Emby Server's (4.7.6) support for right to left languages. The above two examples come from the 4.7.6 Server blog where you can read more about this. Emby for LG 1.0.37 has many fixes including: Various subtitle improvements Various video playback improvements View the full article
