  1. Yeah, that is all possible but, honestly, these types of features scare me. Someone fumble fingers a date or switch and their entire library is gone...

  3. I'm a plex life time member, but I have been using Emby for over six years continuously, but there is a feature which I have always thought is missing in Emby which I would like and encourage the developer to consider including especially in this dispensation where families can social or commingle due to COVID 19. Today, I received a notification from Plex about it new feature titled Watch together you can read about it here https://support.plex.tv/articles/watch-together/ The feature allows friends and families at distance to watch same movies together instantly, you simply invite all your buddy, once they signed to the system which can be seeing in the server then play and pause as needed, this I think is cool feature should be added to emby. Let's here your though if Emby developer should consider adding this feature to our beloved Emby Media https://www.bing.com/news/search?q=Plex+Watch+Together&qpvt=plex+watch+together&FORM=EWRE

  4. I'd really like to have 2 Factor Authentication added to the login screen. It's just this (optional) extra layer of security to help secure the server (which, especially if people use camera uploads) contains pretty private data. There are for every type of programming language quite a few libraries available, so implementation on a server shouldn't be too hard to realise

  5. So basically this. I have TV Shows, Movies, and Anime libraries. For anime; I'd prefer to set the default to Japanese with Subtitles. For movies, English and no subs unless forced. For TV Shows, the same. However, Emby only allows one overall setting this for this, for all libraries, instead of just one. I think it'd be a pretty nice little feature.

  6. Hi, I would like to have an option to choose H265 instead of H264 in the Transcode option. It will be smaller for all bad bandwidth (2~5Mbit ADSL), but will have a great quality. Mobile phone can benefit of it greatly too with the 4G and the limitation of download.

  8. I like that Emby supports specials, it fetches the metadata, and it's *kiiiinda* cool that it shows them in the series timeline according to the "plays before [ep]" tags... But when these items are inserted into the series timeline, they seem to be played while playing through the series... this is not great. It especially sucks when some specials have "plays before S01E01", in this case, a bunch of junk appears as the first thing that plays when you start a new series. If you're in the main-menu, and you just press "PLAY" on a thing, it should automatically play S01E01, but instead, it starts playing a bunch of random special feature junk. Nobody wants to watch specials BEFORE they've seen the show... it's stuff you want to see only after you have seen and love the show. TL;DR: when pressing play, or moving to the "next" episode while binge-ing, always skip any material from the Specials. Please!

  9. Here I come again... I insist that I am a newbie. If something like this exists I have not been able to find it either in the app, documentation or this forum. I would like to have a "Last chance!" section in Home Screen. This is how I see it: 1. The admin, or users with permissions, marks a film, season, full series or recording to be deleted. 2. A window pops-up asking for the number of days when the delete will actually take place: 7, 15, 30 days or custom. 3. Then a mark is added to those items in the library and, besides, a section similar to "Latest Media" is added. Something like this: 4. A visual system could be added (colours, icons...) that would change as the deletion date approaches. 5. If the items marked to be deleted are in the favourite list of any user, then this user should be warned somehow and given the chance to request the admin more time. Maybe a pop-up window with the list of items (cover art is very visual) next time the user logs in: "Dear xxx: the following items have been marked to be deleted in the next xxx days. This is your last chance! If you need it, please click here to notify the admin for how long you would like to preserve those items" And then a selection window: 7 days more, 15, 30... The admin then could get an email or similar pop-up window to the one the user saw: "Dear admin: the user has requested to extend the items xxx for another xxx days." And then some options to accept it or deny it. Thank you for taking this suggestion into consideration. Kind regards,

  10. Feature Request. A present I have several user accounts setup for family members. When we sit down together to watch a movie we currently log into one account (Mostly mine), so obviously only this account gets the watched status. What happens then is everyone uses my account because there's isn't up-to date and it's "just easier". This results in my account telling me I've watched something when I haven't... I would like the ability to log into my account and select/deselect which other users are present so that when a movie/TV episode is watched together, their watched statuses are updated accordingly? The next time you log in again all other users would have been deselected. It could be implemented so each user account can do this, or only select user accounts can. Even a special "Family" user account, or multiple viewers button as long as everyone's watched status is correct. Even just ticking the users present on the login screen before login into an account.

  11. Which, you did but even then, that should just cause errors and the inability to save those files - not the whole server to hang.

  12. The solution is to change it in the system.xml file of emby server .

  14. In my personal case, for two reasons: 1. I either watch movies at the theatre or buy the originals in Blu-Ray because the quality of the streaming services is simply not enough for me. I really cannot stand the pixelation in underwater scenes, with smoke or fog or flat surfaces in dark scenes. Perhaps Apple TV+ is the only exception. I have to admint that I have rented a couple of movies at Apple TV+ and I was quite satisfied; although I would never make a digital purchase: if I own a movie I really need to have something physical. So, over the years, I have aquired an extensive collection of DVDs and Blu-rays which, obviously, I share with my family. I am, however, the only one in the family to be so picky with the quality so I always watch the movies in the only Blu-Ray player of the house in the main TV of the dinning room. For the rest of my family members watching the movies in their iPads or another smaller TV in the living room is way more comfortable and never take the trouble to move to the main room to watch anything, so they appreciate when I rip my movies and share them in Emby. Besides, those discs are very valuable for me and I would really get very nervous knowing that others (even being relatives) come to my collection to take out discs which I can lose track of and, I take it for granted, they will not be as careful as I am when manipulating them. I spend several hours a day using my computer, so ripping discs is not really a problem for me. It is done in the background while I am working on other things. I have a list in IMDB with all the movies and series I purchase, so my family always know what is available and sometimes ask me to add this or that to Emby. Of course, ripping Blu-ray discs (specially my latests 4K 10 bit) eats tons of space of storage, so I really need to make some cleaning every now and then. Being members of my family, it is easy to ask them "Is it fine if I delete xxx content?". But sometimes I forget to tell everybody, or they tell me "Don't delete this" but weeks pass and they don't watch it and I need to recover the space. That's why I thought that having that feature implemented would be a great idea. I give them a "Last chance" to watch something. If they don't take it... sorry... 2. Something similar happens with TV recording. This feature was "curious" at first but, being so useful, its becoming more popular among my family members. And, as I have read in the forums, nobody ever deletes the recordings. I know there are some possible solutions for this particular problem, but I think that by having this "Last chance!" feature I could simply mark the recordings for deletion after a reasonable time. I really like the idea of "Availability Status" suggested by rbjtech. All features of Emby can be used for illegal purposes, not only this feature. But I wanted to share my particular needs and justify the reason why I suggested this feature. In my particular case, is 100% home use. Regards,

  15. I've been able to reproduce this myself using a couple different lineups and have reported the problem to our provider. Carlo PS I wouldn't be surprised if it's a channel in common that is corrupt causing a problem with the feed.

  16. Agreed - I guess all it takes is the wrong year and 'Availability Status' per item would be a good thing to have - you could then have all sorts of Status to work with - marked for deletion after date ignore/hide (rather than a .ignore file) time to live + date marked for deletion after watched archive (don't remove if source file is not available..) ..... Actual file processing is then left to a monthly clean up task - so you're always left with 30 days to correct/back things out.

  18. You appear to be trying to play a video with a higher bit rate than the bitrate limit you have set somewhere; however, you have also forbidden transcoding. You could try changing one or other of those conditions to see if it helps. Paul

  19. The problem with multiple episodes in the Video section is solved with this new naming pattern. But the subtitle issue still remains.

  21. A quick win would be to just add a 'Bookmark' Tag to any item that has bookmarks, but ideally, if the markertype=Bookmark - then you would just filter by those existing.

  22. Agree it's a nice idea - and the ability to create a 'Last Chance' channel would be relatively easy BUT the fundamental thing we are missing is the actual 'End Date' to act on. We only have 'Date Added' and 'Release Date' in the item metadata. If you could 'calculate' the life of the item from the date added - then that would work. ie Items are available for 1 year from date added. Any item which is approaching lets say 30 days from it's final date, are just added to the channel - sorted by the least amount of days left. No easy way to display the days left unfortunately. Once reached, then the item is deleted. If emby add a 'TTL' date field as a metadata item (blank if no TTL) then it would open up this functionality.

  24. Thank you Luke, I've carried out some of my own troubleshooting here and might well have solved this myself (i should have spotted this sooner)! This still might be useful for others if they have similar issues. I have Emby 4.7.13.0 installed on a Linux Headless Ubuntu 22.04LTS Server. I update Emby whenever I see a new version available in the Admin Dashboard ~/emby/web/index.html#!/dashboard I have a mixture of Mono (1ch), Stereo (2ch) and 5.1 (6ch) media throughout the several libraries (TV Shows, Movies, Cartoons etc). For me - I have two main methods of watching this content. I stream via my Android Phone to a ChromeCast and this always works for me. I also have a Windows 10 PC in a studio, attached via USB to a Focusrite Clarett 8Pre Studio Sound. When i play content with more than 2 Channels through this card, i can't hear the Voice (assumed Centre Channel missing?). Between my first post, and this reply, i've checked the Focusrite routing software. I mute input channels i'm not using (though haven't touched this software in over a year, and could swear that I've never had an issue listening to 5.1 content with all but channels 1-2 unmuted). It appears that Software Input channels 1-2 correspond to the Front Left and Right audio, while 3-4 are dedicated to the Center and Subwoofer. Channels 5-6 remain inactive, and a quick observation shows that 7-8 serve as the surround speakers. In this instance, i can just route the audio 1-2-3-4-7-8 into monitor output 1-2. Could this have been an update to Emby, or potentially have I coincedently only listened to mono or stereo content on the Studio PC in the past year (I apologize for my lack of awareness regarding past Emby updates, here)? Below screenshot showing 1-2, 3, 4, 7 and 8 inputs. To achieve functionality, I converted channels 3 and 4 into MONO channels and adeptly integrated them, ensuring a seamless blend with 1-2. Furthermore, I fine-tuned channels 7 and 8 for left and right panning as required (though need to have more of a play around). Thank you for your help with this, Luke. I hope you have a great day. -S

  26. This not going to currently work, because emby do not currently have the dolby vision data available to search. Infact you can't even search on HDR, yet alone DV. The data IS stored though (in the Beta version, they added DV, incl profile data - that's how it displays it DV) - but no HD Audio codecs data yet. So the reason you see the detail below in a Bulky search - is because it's reading the TRACK title - which was put there by the MediaInfo Plugin - OR you may be lucky and somebody added it during the construction of the MKV/MP4. ie - if you wanted to find all DV8 (DV profile 8 ) then you could use Codec 0 = DV8 - I agree (but again, only if the data has been put there in the first place) I'm sure Emby will eventually add these details, it's just 'on the list' like a lot of other things ...

  27. So keeping things very simple to start with - I've just used the Channel Plugin framework from @chefto build a very simple Movie Plugin where Genre = Family. I've been meaning to do this for a while, so I can just give my young viewers access to a 'Channel' - rather than mess about with Tagging. So you get a dedicated Channel - it re-creates itself every time you run the 'Internet Channels' task. (it's on a schedule) and of course being a channel, as opposed to a 'playlist' - you have full control over it - and can add user permissions etc. I can sort it by date as well - so all the newest stuff is at the start. Obviously very limited at the moment - but no reason why this should not include TV Series as well (seperate Channel) - and any other 'filter' that you want applied before creating the channel. Note - Being a channel - there are no duplicates shown in the main Movies library .. () I'll build on it to see how it goes - maybe take the output from the Smart Playlists - and call it Smart Channels ... Once I've tidied it up and added TV series/shows - I'll share the DLL .. Any thoughts welcome ..

  28. Well that isn't the case in the real world! I did some testing tonight, and the i5-12500 is notably more capable than the i7-2255U when is comes to QSV encoding. I will post more details about my results in the next few days.

  29. Worked perfectly. All but my own faulty memory. Started up with the original data drive connected and the new drive. Used the Disks utility to set up the new disk, and set mount points. Went into fstab and commented out the old drive connection to the mount point Emby uses. Checked the mount statement for the new drive was in fstab. mount -a and it switched from old to new. I ripped some tv shows today and added them to the new drive and once I turned the monitoring back on for the libraries Emby it picked up the new shows and added them. Everything else is as it was. Thanks for your suggestions @Q-Droid!

  30. In that case it shouldn't trigger anything. The important part is to make sure the copy is identical to the source with the exception of more free space. When you make the copy be sure to preserve all file and directory attributes. Still a few unknowns so I'm making assumptions. - Didn't mention how the drives were connected now, whether internal or external. - Didn't mention how the filesystems are mounted. - Didn't mention how you plan to copy from old to new. You shouldn't have to stop monitoring though I would recommend stopping and disabling the Emby server for the cutover. If I were doing this I would take the approach below. - stop and disable emby-server. - backup the emby data/config location. - finish copy/sync of the drives unless completed already. ownership and permissions should be known at this point and easy to check. - prepare /etc/fstab for drive swap. can leave the entries commented out for both old and new drives. - power-off and swap drives. or remove old one - whatever is happening in this step. - power-up and boot. - finalize /etc/fstab and mount new drive to old path. verify it's what you want. - reboot and check that new mounted drive matches the original one. - enable and start emby-server. If something goes wrong in Emby at this point you can stop it to identify the problem and fix it. Then if needed restore from the data/config backup and try again.

  35. Hi Guys, I recently moved from Kodi with MySQL for lack of proper multi user management and server side support, I have to say I'm impressed with Emby. Together with the Kodi Plugin it really takes the solution to a whole new level, count me in among the supporters! One feature I would like to see is the ability to recommend movies or shows to other users: I share my Library with close friends and family but it is a big library so they are always calling me to recommend them a movie to watch. It would be really cool if after watching a movie I can click a Recommend button and choose the users I think would like the movie, then it is displayed on their suggested movies at the top with the name of the user who recommended it... Sorry if there is something like this is already there, I am new to the interface and don't fully know it but could not find such feature... Thanks!
