With evergrowing movie/TV show library and memory not what it used to be, causing more and more titles to appear unfamiliar, could we get Genre(s) as Library view three-dot menu Show fields option, along all the others, to show underneath item images? Thanks.

It does mention you need to unlock or purchase premium in order to use the app. 1. On the main page it says in app purchases. Then click more info 2. Once again it says in-app purchases and since there is a (...) you have to expand the box to see all comments. 3. In the second paragraph it mentions the app isn't free for playback. What it doesn't mention is that you get a free trial before before you have to pay.

Are you using http://app.emby.media to connect and use the plugin ? If thats the case, can you try using local ip to connect to emby. Not sure if that is the issue.

Have you asked your son to try and force a higher quality setting during playback? Some Emby clients may default to a much lower conservative value due to variables at the start of the streaming session. If the remote party requests a higher quality setting, the server will re-adjust. And yes, if you opt for a higher speed plan, you will have more bandwidth to utilize in Emby for outgoing streams. Try the above first and see if you notice a difference.

Update - 18 July 2024 OK, so in this update you have the option to Prefer Extended Cast Information So, What does that mean? ADM by default gets the cast as listed from various websites as comma seperated values which it has saved in its database (it doesnt connect to these sites). e.g. for this movie (https://www.jeedoo.com/product/1958794-Big-Booty-White-Girls/) the ADM information server will have added to its database:- the CSV data: Somina, Luisa Rosso, Isobel, Mia Bang, Melanie Crush (Click Details to see this information on the site) ADM will then add the cast Names as Entries, but will NOT assign them with a provider id unless it detects one in the server data directory for that person . To do that you will need this turned on. Without provider ids, the same name will link across all records as tthe same person. A provider id ensures that the person has their own unique record. The feature mentioned here (Prefer Extended Cast Information) will not use the CSV Data, but will check the ADM Server for a data file which contains Actors WITH provider ids, like this: Director: Justin Slayer [IAFDG:2a51536e-201f-4a2d-a6a8-272ba1616184] Cast: Boz [IAFDG:6813ec37-79e0-4c24-a645-912ee51d12af] Cast: H. J. This will also work in scanning metadata and adding items to the library, so *should* prevent anything failing to use the MovieList for lookups. Pleae note: that the speed of the search depends of the words you use, if you use something common such as "girlfriend" then you will get 1000's of results and the dialog may take a few minutes to respond. Request that Emby server store Dolby Vision (including profile), Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, HDR10+ (smpte2094) and HLG for appropriate video in the db and use it for display in the media info and track selection sections of movie/episode details screen. When displaying Home Screen settings I'm seeing the variables names for the headers instead of the actual data name. There's also some overlapping going on. Then when I go back to the actual Home Screen the settings page overlays on top of the Home Screen so I'm seeing both. All other settings pages seem to be okay. v 1.6.0 Server 4.8.0.41 2018 Q8FN

Sometimes what changes is not Emby but (a) the web site's algorithm for ordering results, or (b) the addition to the web site of a similarly named item which also upsets the results presented. Using naming which follows the guidelines will help reduce these issues (though cannot eliminate them 100% unless you add the database ID to the names). Paul

We don't modify your metadata, we display what you've got. But yes, the idea of a ratings cleaner plugin has been tossed around before and is certainly possible.

Sorry I have that backwards. Put "Various" or whatever in the Album Artist tag, and the appropriate track artist name in the Artist tag.

Good idea in practice but Ive never been able to get the web interface to quite or restart Emby. Intel or Apple Silicone version. All it seems to do is hang Emby Server forcing me to go into the activity monitor of the server and force stop anyway.

Entering the PIN on the website now works for me in 1.6.0

I would try and keep in simple to start with - remove the two AP's and just run with the main Router/AP. If that is stable on wifi - then you may find the AP's are all interfering/competing with each other, possibly changing channels dynamically etc - and you are actually getting LESS bandwidth or interupted connections as a result. If an option, try lowering the power of the AP's, so they only cover a more limited range. You may need to use heatmap/range software to actually map out the range of each AP (or walk about with a strength meter on your phone) - ideally you want the signal to drop significanrly before the next AP picks it up. Also work checking the TV is not trying to do any 'smart' wifi decisions such as band steering or anything like that. Wifi is not 'designed' for constant streaming on fixed devices - it will work, but a wired connection is always better for 100% reliability.

In addition to the posted above you should also set your server's Internet streaming bitrate limit to a value shy of your actual measured upload rate, like 85% or so. You want to leave some headroom for other traffic. If your son exceeds your upload bitrate without a limit on your end he will also have problems. The answer to your subject question: It depends on your upstream rate, his downstream rate and everything in between. If all can handle the media bitrate then no transcoding is needed unless the client device can't handle the media codecs involved. Then it may transcode anyway. One more thing. Since this is live TV your son may have to adjust how he watches - doing things like pause the stream or skip back a few times during the game to build a local playback buffer for smoother viewing. The real time nature of live TV makes it more sensitive to latency and delays between server and client.

From the logs, it looks like the year is not being parsed correctly because it's not in brackets like Confidential Informant 2023 instead of Confidential Informant (2023). Try using the recommended naming scheme instead: https://emby.media/support/articles/Movie-Naming.html

That wouldn't solve his issue though... He would need a rating limit on suggestions separate from the rating limit of the user and/or the ability to remove suggestions altogether.

I had this error on Synology NAS (DSM 7.2), and to fix it I had to ensure emby had read/write permissions on the media shared folder (mine is called data), and restart the Emby Server. I migrated from DS720+ to DS923+ this weekend and I can tell you it has not been fun, those folder permissions were setup, but somehow got deleted along with Plex with the hundred other things I was doing restoring my NAS environment because ofc it was only partial with the migration wizard. I lost all my Docker containers...

Whatever the new version is from the Samsung app store. Seems to be the same on Android. I could not access the server from either the TV's browser, my Chromebook's browser, or my phone's browser. The first is the default Samsung browser and the other two are Chrome. Again, can easily get to Emby on Chrome on my desktop. While I have a VPN on my PC, I never use it. Apparently, that was the problem. I had 4 entries - 2 were private, 2 were public, so I deleted the public ones. I also checked the media sharing option that I apparently now have since updating from Windows 10 to Windows 11; I don't remember having that, so I went ahead and turned that on just to see and... It worked. Didn't even have to log in or anything - it loaded up like it usually does. When I checked it last night, the two public entries had the red circle with the line through it, so I figured it was disabled, but apparently, that's not what Windows thought. Currently working on TV and my phone, so I'll have to guess that it'll most likely now work on my Chromebook as well. Wondering if the last update that occurred reset the previous settings (ugh, I wish Linux was more popular and covered more things at this point). Not sure how to mark your answer as the correct one, but it was the correct one. Thanks guys!

Sorry for the late response wife had a flair up and haven't had a chance to do anything. I finally had was able to make a new container with Debian 12 and fresh install and put stuff back from a back up and everything is normal. weirdly enough the error wasn't causing issues with emby it's self when running apt update it would throw the error saying the emby libc was missing the correct stuff. I think maybe when I did a upgrade from debian 11 to 12 something might of went wrong. You are correct emby does run 28 and not 29 or 30 but It was something to do with the base container throwing the code like the base system was relying on emby libc and not it's own. cause when I installed the emby update I couldn't run apt update to update the container or I would get the error. I did a fresh install of debian not a upgrade and it's all working fine as intended. since it happened only when I installed the emby update I was assuming it was caused by that and not the base system upgrade from 11. @LukeSorry for the late response

The Core now has Introskip built in - no need to use the Plugin. You can then manually hit enter when the 'Skip Intro' pops up - or configure it to automatically skip the Intro if you like. Set it up in your library configuration - and then set the emby clients to use it - fyi - it may take a while to analyse of a large library. For normal 'chapter skip' during playback (if using AndroidTV) then just hit 'up' on the remote and then left/right to jump to the Chapters that pop up. On the replacement 'Standard' App it's not as easy and involves all sorts of button mashing ...

Collections will have sorting controls right on the detail screen in the upcoming 4.8 server release.

If you are only looking at the app, there aren't many features. It browses and plays. The chart lists the features and what is unlocked pretty clearly. As for noting things as TRIAL in the Play store. I ran into a couple nasty companies that buried the fact that it was a trial, doesn't say for how long, automatically signed you up for a subscription, and then charged you $250 3 days later. Yup, paid $250 for a FLASHLIGHT APP! And if I didn't notice that charge, it was a MONTHLY fee! Google only requires that you state in the description that it is a trial or otherwise limited. It doesn't have to be bold, it doesn't have to be it's own paragraph, or at the top. It can be buried in the middle of a sentence, in the middle of a paragraph in the middle of a ridiculously long description.

That is OK. I found some freeware for my Android TV that plays my movies without charging me. Consequently I have dumped the Emby application. I have decided that since I am not willing to pay a subscription price for the privilege of playing my own movies, the Emby application is no longer of interest to me. Be well, all!

Granted that is what it says on that page (I looked at that page before downloading Emby because I actually considered buying a premiere account when I first learned about Emby). That isn't what the Emby app says. The Emby app says it is a trial, and that in a few days I am going to need to buy a premiere account in order to have what it calls "unlimited play".It says this every time I play a movie with it. What bothers me about it most is that usually when a company gives trial software it usually says that the software is trial on the website where you download it. The Emby app did not identify itself as trial software when I found it on Play. No... the web page will not answer this question. It contradicts what the app says. I am going to need someone who knows Emby Premiere licensing to answer this one.
