My request is to be able to chose to add items to the home screen. Specifically in my case, I am thinking of playlists and collections. Here's some reasons I'd like to see this: The home screen is the first piece of the user interface a person will see when they pull up Emby. I often places movies in bulk into my media library. This sometimes means people never see the new movie I've made available. Happens a lot, actually. While all movies are searchable or can be found by sorting, I believe the interface would benefit from having the customization option. I have created a "Justin Recommends" collection and would LOVE to be able to put that on the home screen. By keeping this optional, no one is forced to use it. If you don't have a use-case, then it's just a feature. If you look at things like Netflix, many movies and shows get "featured" and by doing that, a lot of people end up watching that wouldn't otherwise (imagine if The Tiger King was just another buried documentary you had to hunt for, no one would have heard of it). I appreciate your time. If you've considered this before and decided against for reasons other than difficulty implementing the feature, I'd ask you to reconsider. I believe that being able to customize our servers helps us personalize and tailor them to our audience and our needs, and that helps promote a feeling of ownership. I also truly believe that this small change could lead to some powerful results. In my case, I know that it would be of huge benefit to accomplishing what I would like to do with my Emby server. Thank you.1 point

Scenario; main tv has a roku or other stb that is used by all. That emby account is restricted to pg only. Instead of changing accounts in emby, could there be a prompt for a pin to access pg13 + content? I've seen this on a cable box back when I used to have them.1 point

Yes that's the one. I still use it regularly as it better suits my own needs. It will do exactly what was asked as long as it's enabled in the library settings page as an importer.1 point

@WarzonefuryI am happy to help. I will try and repeat your problem today. I should be back to you tomorrow. Vic1 point

The issue here doesn't really have anything to do with autoplay or next episodes. That is just the most likely situation in which people will encounter it. It has everything to do with HLS and the very finicky Roku video player.1 point

Has your Windows networking got set to Public? It needs to be Private. Paul1 point

Eh, that is so strange... I did as before, chose add-on mode, and it just started working. I assumed it was because 8.2.10 wasn't around when I encountered this, but then I tried 8.2.9 and it worked as well. Seems like the problem, whatever it was, didn't come from the plugin. It is quite puzzling why it didn't appear on 8.2.7 even back then, but I guess we'll never know. Thanks for offering to look into this1 point

Just stopping here to say that I have tried: Roku Tivo Stream (AndroiTV on the cheap) XBox One S (which to the best of my knowledge uses Emby Theater?) And for me? We keep on using the Roku App. Sometimes we use the Tivo Stream. And I gave the XBox to my church. We really just didn't like the XBox UI, not talking about Emby, talking about the xbox ui. In all cases we use a harmony remote1 point

I’m looking for an overlay for Atmos, MQA, and HighRes tracks/albums. This could be done based on tags or naming or extension. For example [A] in the album or track name could mean Atmos, [M] MQA etc. Ideally it would be great if the naming on the album contains the [A] all tracks in that album have the overlay, while if only a few tracks have the [A] in the name, then only on those track would the overlay apply.1 point

Not yet. We are working on getting a new app update out. Thanks.1 point

I'd avoid TVDB as top preferred provider for movies (or at all, to be frank), put TMDB on top in either case.1 point

Luke, I have said repeatedly that I do not want you to respond to me for any reason. Is there some reason you choose to violate my desires or are you just trying to put me in my place. I am not allowed, apparently, to put you into an ignored situation as you are too far up/down the totem pole to be subject to the requests of us lowly peons but: PLEASE STOP RESPONDING TO ME. I would rather go unanswered than hear from you.1 point

In most cases I imagine that is correct. It wouldn't make sense to have hard line breaks when you don't know what container it will be shown in.1 point

That's because those other apps UI is actually rendered in html but TV is not.1 point

Found out the hard way (usb plain stops working), but yes, Emby is now available in Samsung Store in Canada. This is a game changer. Thanks to all involved !1 point

So far https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/ only features the latest release-versions of emby for android (google only) and androidtv (google and amazon), but can we have the latest betas and the missing amazon-version there too? These links make good targets for bookmarks and hence, ease the updating process if one have to use sideloading. Official codes for aftvnews-downloader would also be a nice touch.1 point

Trotzdem Danke.1 point

@VicMooreYou work at your own pace mate! Have fun with it! No pressure, add stuff your interested in. The rest can come later.1 point

@mixXximYour changes are on my list but they are cosmetic in nature and at the moment difficult for me to do. I know the effort appears simple, but it is not. When I get back to that part of the code I will work on it. I am working now on things I said I would do a long time back and on other threads. This is not a job. I do what I can when I can do it. In my case, I have been using TMDB for years to keep track of and rate the movies I watch. I would love to have a plugin that allows me to associate my TMDB account with Emby, so when I watch a movie I could rate it on this platform.1 point
-
I agree with Ferzal. Emby not having the option of allowing users to rate what they've just seen feels like a missing feature (I understand most people won't use it but personally on my server I know a majority of users would rate things as we end up telling each other our rating of a film/TV show anyway. Having the ability to do this in emby would be useful). It does feel like this thread has been seemingly ignored with the exception of the redirects that seem to prevent any new discussion regarding this topic.1 point
-
Rather than debate the pros and cons of a rating system in Emby I think it's something that is missing from Emby that is included/addable in all others. If it can't be done it can't be done. It's been... many years so I guess it can't be done. We have redirects to this thread to contribute to the discussion which seems pretty dead in the water. It is a shame, especially with the music library, as it can be hard to remember the name of that random song you would have given a 9 had you been given the chance. It could also help with library maintenance. My memory ain't what it used to be.1 point

Keep in mind a true Multi-Cast is only good for the network it's broadcast on short of having L2/L3 routers or multi-cast proxies. So I'd doubt "Multicast" in the true sense of the word would be used to create a watch together type feature as we would want it to work with existing clients remote or local. Personally, I'd envision this working probably different then many of you. I'd envision a web chat type program with private channels and a lobby. You could have random anytime watch together where someone is in the lobby and another person drops by and decides to watch something with you. You of course could also schedule a watch together event for the future and send out invitations to others using your private room. In that room you're the moderator with control over playing the video, stop, pause, etc but could delegate or grant access to any others or everyone. The video would play taking up most of the screen with a side panel for ongoing chat. Ideally you could cast to an Emby client or Chromecast as normal. That would allow you to watch on any device you want while still being connected to the watch party chat. Done this way none of the normal Emby clients would need to be "watch together" aware as all the control is web based which is far better suited for chat. When I say chat it could be just text based or audio or full blown audio and video. That would be up to the moderator to control assuming the admin has the feature available to use. What would be cool as well would be queuing up little videos that play before the main event. Like the 5 minutes to movie time. 2 minutes, grab your popcorn. Maybe have another for 2 or 3 minutes breaks that might be needed were you click the 2, 3, 4, 5 button after pausing which queues up the intermission video but starts immediately after resume where you were. Would something like that work? Of the different existing watch together type utils others have what you're favorite or what you would consider the gold standard?1 point

The saddest part in all this is that Plex has zero native integration with (or interest in) Trakt unlike Emby. However the clients do show the pesonal ratings given and aligns perfectly with the Trakt rating. (Thougn it does require the rating to be set via a Plex mobile client) Perhaps Im a rare breed who thinks my own opinion of a movie or show is far more important than the opinions of 300,000 strangers on IMDB. I revisit Emby every now and again as a long time Emby Premiere owner, and actually thought I would be back for good this time just for the integrated Trakt syncing. But i guess its not to be. For me Trakt is about ratings too and not just about watched status syncing. It's a shame really that Plex have zero interest in Trakt and yet they (purely by accident) somehow fit my workflow despite that. We like or we dislike a movie? Yeah sorry, I watch some movies far more than once and there are to my mind different levels of "like." Although I have never really felt the need for a 1-10 rating sytem in anything (1-5 makes more sense as in) 5-All times favorites 4-Really enjoyed it 3-Was OK 2- Not very good 1-WTF was that Cr*p Basically Emby offers only 5-All times favorite or 1-WTF was that Cr*p as an alternative. A shame really.1 point
