  2. I have a disabled child who uses at tobii-dynavox eye gaze device for communication. https://us.tobiidynavox.com/pages/products I also put emby theater on it for him to watch movies and recorded tv and listen to music, but he cannot control it and make his own selections. There is software for it called Grid 3 by smartbox which incorporates communication and smarthome apps that gives him more control. https://thinksmartbox.com/product/grid-3/ It would be really cool if you could adapt the emby theater app to be incorporated into Grid 3 allowing him to control his entertainment options.

  5. Feature Request to add a function in Emby TV to set a storage limit and auto-delete the oldest content to remain within the user defined storage space limit. Same function as WMC and other DVRs.

  6. What release was being worked on when this was first announced, 4.3 or 4.4? As a user and someone who bought a lifetime subscription for 'LiveTV' it seems like a release cycle focusing on LiveTV is VERY overdue. Then I re-read the release notes for the last few major releases, and I do not see anything that I would consider worth ignoring/delaying the LiveTV improvements. I am sure others will disagree on individual points, but come on, in 3+ years and multiple major release surely some effort could have been put into this. I stopped asking about improvements for LiveTV, since it looked like it was going to get some attention. Silly me. On a side note I want to commend softworks for not getting frustrated and bailing on the whole project. Seen too many cool projects suffer after a great dev gets tired of being ignored and moves on to a project that makes them feel valued.

  8. ok thats strange. Guess devs will need server logs. I'm not a dev, just a friendly user.

  10. There's no season.nfo for season 1, and I just checked the nfo for season 2 and 3 and searched for the keyword "image", but no results. I also took a look in the tvshow.nfo and can't find "image" as well.

  11. Agreed. But consider adding a reverse proxy immediately, as it may be the easiest way to get TLS, rather than getting (and renewing) a certificate separately and installing it in Emby. Caddy, in particular, automates that completely for most situations. Paul

  12. Hah that’s funny.. That’s actually how my issue started too… I was trying to download shows to my old device, for my kids.. it would work when I first set it up, then wife would say “there isn’t anything on here” and then I’d “fix it” and it would happen again.. and again.. finally I figured out it was the “seeing it as same device” and reproduce it on my device as well… only thing I haven’t tried yet, is to wipe one of the Devices and try to duplicate it fresh.. I’ll work on that this weekend

  14. TLS is the defacto standard and fully portable and these days is pretty simple to setup - VPN on the other hand has the dependency of the agents running and if not necessarily guaranteed to encrypt end-end anyway ('part' of the path may be in the clear). As per Luke's advice, I agree - go with TLS first, and then add layers of protection if you need the enhanced security such as VPN(to hide your public IP), Reverse Proxy (adds TLS abstraction), IPS (to inspect packets)..etc ps - TLS is the modern form of SSL - which was depreciated many many years ago ...

  15. After changing to the GoNotoKurrent-Regular font file on the server, ass subtitles work well in the web browser environment. However, in the Android app environment, the issue is not resolved. It seems to use the app's own font. I think you need to modify the font in the Android app as well. The iPad app worked fine without that issue.

  16. here is a quick example on how to do it for one channel If you want to edit one category for multiple channels, best to use a good text editor and make use of search and replace or multicursor selection. #EXTINF:-1 tvg-id="TV_GUIDE_ID" tvg-name="CHANNEL_NAME" tvg-logo="LOGO_PATH_OR_URL" group-title="GROUP_TITLE",CHANNEL_NAME LINK_TO_STREAM The file you have should already look like this so if you want to change just that then you can simply edit the GROUP_TITLE part and leave the rest untouched.

  26. I use a Shield and I find the remote that came with it to be nearly dysfunctional for my use. However I also found that an older Fire TV remote pairs with the Shield and works great for the way I use my Shield. It occurred to me as I was typing this that I do not even know exactly where the original remote is right now. I stored it after I discovered that I could use the Fire TV remote and I have forgotten its location. I did have to find it after I did a factory reset on My Shield. That reset was caused by my foolish attempts to use my Shield as a server. Both the Plex server (That comes sort of pre-installed on the Shield) and the Emby server cause the shield to effectively freeze and require a factory reset to restore proper functionality. I have decided that the Shield wound be OK when used as a server with a small library but my library is quite big and the Shield chokes on it. I also use a Harmony remote with hub and that is a real pleasure to use with my Shield but, of course, I highly customized the button layout and i use the Harmony Android app most of the time again for the highly customizable layout that Harmony offers. I understand that Harmony is not making new remotes anymore and I guess, should I ever have to replace my Harmony, I may have to find another solution. That is not a "search" I am looking forward to. Of all the devices I own the Shield is by far the most versatile but I very much prefer my Fire TV's remote and, for day to day use, my Rokus and their remotes are the easiest and most intuitive to use.My usage order is: 1. Roku 2. Fire TV 3. Shield TV 4. Everything else The usability of the remotes, even factoring in my Harmony, is exactly the same order as my usage indicates. Edit: I had not looked recently and it looks like the newer Shield remotes fix a lot of the problems i had with the original one. The new remote for the Shield just might be OK even for my use.

  27. @Luke: Well, since German is apparently not going to be published anytime soon, can we at least get access to the English Alexa Skill? I came to Emby from Plex, and I am inches away to got back to installing Plex just so I can listen to my music. And I am a paying Emby member... This is unreal!

  28. Hi Carlo, Well, I decided to remove the Emby server software on the TVS-871 and reinstall the latest version this morning. I also decided not to use the backup configuration files so it could start out as a completely fresh installation. Now everything is working well. So, thanks for your help, but it doesn't look like I'll be needing the remote support. I really don't know why things went wrong initially, but I do know that Emby has been running on the same NAS for least five years with all the different Emby versions and updates along the way, not to mention numerous hard drive/volume expansions. So, it was overdue and time for a lot of "housekeeping." Thanks again, Larry

  29. As shown in the figure, it would be better if a separate page can be opened like plex to display the current scanning situation. The current situation does not know how much content has been scanned, and the current scanning speed is also a little slow.

  30. @chef @Cheesegeezer 'Multi Language Metadata' I'd forgotten all about this script I wrote - it's such a simple concept - and works beautifully. The only flaw is keeping the STRM files up to date with deletions and new additions, running it again adds items, but deleted items keep the strm file. I know we are involved with many projects (lol) but do you think this could be put in a Plugin ? Looking at the number of downloads - it did have a fair amount of interest - but via a Catalogue plugin, it will probably get a lot more. It should be REALLY easy to do. (famous last words.. haha) With a plugin, the user would create the new Alternate language library - and then choose the 'source' and 'destination' libraries - and it would simply create and copy strm links from all the existing content to the new library. It could do this at a file level (as the script does) or do it by referencing the emby db file path. You just repeat if you want multiple alternate libraries - or you could add multiple destinations (as the script does) A 'watch' monitor checks for new or deleted items (as we have done on many plugins) and it removes the strm file. What do you think ? I probably should learn how to write Plugin's myself - this would be a nice easy one to start with I think ...
