Hi. There is always room for improvement and we continually strive to do better. We are a small team but that is actually what makes us much more responsive than a lot of larger ones IMO. At times I feel we are kinda between a rock and a hard place here...because we grew out of the open-source environment we have a very strong sense of "community" with this product. That is a good thing but it also seems to set an expectation with our users that they should have detailed insights into our internal operations. There are a lot of reasons why this isn't practical with us no longer being such a project. You don't have these types of insights into any major product from a large company - and you don't have direct contact with the actual people behind the scenes with those companies either. The last two server beta cycles have been very long - way too long - and that has exacerbated things. That is not how we planned them but stuff happens and here we are. One of our primary goals for the future will be to get back to much shorter release cycles of the server. So, thanks for the feedback and we will strive to do the best we can on the communication front but do realize that our internal operations are not intended to be public. We want to keep the sense of community we have built and Luke and I are still committed to direct communications with our users instead of building layers of isolation that would only obfuscate things further. In the end, what we really want to do is build, deliver and support the best damned personal media server there is and that will continue to be our top priority. Thanks.5 points

For clients that can use 3rd party remotes (ie Android TV) I'd like the ability to use a remote of my choosing and be able to map my remote to functions in Emby. We should be able to keymap all important functions such as EPG popup in video, stats for nerds, RW, FF, jump back 10, 30, 60 seconds, jump forward 10, 30, 60 seconds, etc. We should be able to use the number keys to enter 3 or 4 digit channels for TV channel changes. Basically any function available in the UI should have a key mapping associated with it so we can use it with advanced remotes. The remote is our gateway to using Emby and the more functionality we have to customize this for our use the better and easier it is for us to use. Being able to map your own remote is a long standing tradition with many other system and is a long overdue addition needed in Emby. If you agree, don't forget to like this post.2 points

It sounds very much like a wifi / bandwidth issue. Does your TV have any sort of wifi-strength / wi-fi details that you can see ? Sometimes it will be better to use 2.4Ghz over 5Ghz - as while 'slower' (using 2.4Ghz) the signal strength/quality may be far superior because the signal penetration is better - and for the majority of streaming bandwidth requirements, the bandwidth 2.4Ghz gives is more than ample. That being said - and as @visproductionhas said above - IDEALLY connect your emby server to the router/access point via wired ethernet - but I appreciate this may not be possible or practical. Clients via wifi is not so much of an issue (or shouldn't be ..)2 points

Hi. Can you please add an option in the settings to hide the "Media Info" section? When using emby on my phone, it pretty much takes more then half of the page. On top of that, not having it be showing, it would clean up the page. At least gives us that option to hide it. Thanks.1 point

It would be very desirable if music albums could be marked as listened. Audio books and movies already have this option.1 point

I'd like to request that the Playlist library have a displayed category and, "widget" on the homescreen in the similar fashion that movies, TV shows, music are shown. I create topical/seasonal playlists that I'd like my family members to see displayed from the homescreen with "recently added" carousel style. Currently, to the best of my knowledge, playlists are only accessible via their shortcut in the, "My Media" section. Thanks for your consideration!1 point

I am positive I'm not the only one who thinks this, but for a product that has a paid subscription the communication to end users is severely lacking. Beta Updates, Road Maps, Lack of Community Managers, More in depth responses to feature requests to name a few areas that honestly, are very average or non-existent. The fact that community members that make plugins have better engagement and responses to updates/requests/planned changes is pretty average tbh. When it comes to beta updates, it seems we get this string of updates then shit breaks and we get no communication on what's being done to fix it. How hard would it be to have a dedicated thread that communicates what's being worked on for the next update, an eta, issues that are known and what's being focused on, and what's currently a struggle to diagnose and fix? I think the same goes for literally any feature request. The token "Yes we can look into this in the future" response is a joke tbh. It literally reminds me of my mum saying Maybe to me as a kid. Don't get me wrong I love Emby as a product, I just think it's about time the communication gets an over hall.1 point

This will be added to all of our next app releases as a user option. Thanks.1 point

Maybe there's no German translation with providers, hence it's falling back to English, therefore: Meaning name specific item (or items) that you're having issues with/were not scraped in expected language so it can be further investigated and post server log at the time of ingestion/refresh metadata. Read above and/or follow link posted.1 point

Ok, I guess I can't do that. I can cover a roof for you, lay tiles or - maybe - take your girlfriend away - but I certainly can't write such a plug-in.1 point

It's been an option on the AndroidTV App for years - General Display > Show Extended Information It not only removes the 'Media Info' display but also removes the details from the main item display (the 1080, AC3 details etc). The replacement Android App does not have this function.1 point

that's ridiculous. the sentence has been written here in the topic since 2019 and the feature has not yet been added. this is a stalling technique. the fature will never be added.1 point

One account can be used in multiple places at the same time. The watched and resume information is the same. The only (trivial) complication might be if you both watch the same thing at roughly the same time, and stop at different places - the resume point would probably be the one most recently recorded. The default view is already really good. But it would be nice to be able to display a detailed table for each listing (album view, songs view, ...) in the future. So that you have existing views for simple playback and an expert view that shows all the info. I can understand that this "expert view" is perhaps hardly used. However, in some places the table view is already implemented, so it might not be too much effort to integrate it. Thanks so far!1 point

I would also like to see this option but also for songs that have been played in a playlist. The reason for this is that songs played in a larger playlist will not be played again. +1 for me.1 point

if anyone currently deals with this i figured out setting the dns on your router (or if it was manually set on your pc) to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 fixes this and then you can change it back to whatever you were using1 point

@GrimReaperIndeed that seemed to fix my problem. Thank you very much! Even re-added AO+ and everything seemed to start just fine from what I can see now. Really appreciate the support. Apparently, it is possible to lose your 'tech brain', if it isn't used after a while. LOL! Yikes!1 point

Hi there, please provide a specific example: How to Report a Problem Thanks.1 point

emby has a tagging system. its not great for useability but its there and you can tag everything. the problem you have is it seems that currently, the only media type that doesnt display or really allow the use of tags, is music1 point
-
Hi, we’re already have this feature and you can add tags to just about anything using the metadata editor.1 point

I don't believe it has that flexibility at this point. Those would both be detail pages so don't have different view styles. They are both pretty much already tables though.1 point

Is the issue of the addon receiving all DTS as core something that can be fixed, or is there nothing that can be done? I've found several posts, but nothing definite on anything except a PR being mentioned awhile back. When the addon syncs with Emby all DTS-HD is identified as core (except DTS:X) and then when you play the media Kodi writes the proper codec in its db which fixes all the badges, but the next time a sync is done it's right back to DTS core again. Other than that minor issue, the addon seems to run very well. Really only a visual thing. I've got 8.2.8 and Kodi 20.2 running on Android 11.1 point

Have you tried installing server on top of your current installation, as that appears as possibly failing hard drive or something tampering with install files?1 point
-
Caveat - some sticks, and maybe some TVs (by analogy) have ethernet ports that are limited to a slower speed than their wi-fi is with a good signal. Paul1 point

There are many hidden Wifi issues that can show up with video streaming demand. Even a MESH network can have strange issues. The easiest fix is to connect the server and the TV via 1 GB or faster Ethernet cable directly to the router. A professional home theater install would not use Wifi to Server or TV / Projector. Wifi would only be for remote controls. Even if you get Wifi to work, it can easily fail again for a lot of reasons including sometimes even software or router updates, that happen automatically. I am sure there are users that run everything on Wifi and it works. Their settings might be optimized correctly. Professional home theater installers want happy customers and don't want spend time on support calls or going out to maintain a full Wifi setup.1 point

@hadr0nyou need to go through this thread and find the module that will enable /dev/drm/* and /dev/dri/* for your hardware. I did it a year ago so don't remember right now but /dev/dri/* may just be a symlink: root@jupiter:/dev # ls -l | grep dri dr-xr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Jul 15 21:18 dri root@jupiter:/dev # cd dri root@jupiter:/dev/dri # ls -l total 0 lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 8 Jul 15 21:18 card0 -> ../drm/0 lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 10 Jul 15 21:18 renderD128 -> ../drm/128 Are you rebooting TrueNAS after adding the module to kld_list? What do you have in /dev/drm? After you reboot TrueNAS and run your emby jail with the devfs ruleset you should see at least some directories in /dev/ of the jail. The script you showed symlinks /dev/drm into /dev/dri which is not correct. As for ln -s /usr/local/share/pciids/pci.ids /usr/share/hwdata/ It work for me from within the jail just fine. Are you using a fresh jail where you installed Emby yourself or are you using a TrueNAS plugin for Emby under Plugins > Community ? It seems it's the latter which will not work as plugins don't give you all the permissions. Create an empty jail and install Emby manually according to: https://emby.media/freebsd-server.html1 point

Hi, I am having a couple issues with the Roku app in the last couple weeks. 1) The Images for the main folder of some TV series are not showing (just a grey rectangle) 2) Some of the series I have deleted via the Roku app still show the top level folder (with a little white folder icon) and has no contents. However, via iOS app and/or emby via browser those series do not show (and there is no folder for the series on the server, so I do not know where the data is being pulled from). Could it be something with the database possibly? I tried vacuuming it and re-installing ember server over itself, but the problem still exists. Any ideas? Thanks!1 point

Thanks @ebr and @Gilgamesh_48 I had the family member send me another set of screenshots and its was a couple things together it seems. 1) The "Folders" view was selected as default for some reason (I think they removed and re-installed the app when troubleshooting) 2) They had accidentally selected favorites on, so the "Shows" tab was blank We recorded a couple test items, then deleted them through the roku and the top folder for that show was deleted from the server share (which is how I expected it to work). It seems something happened as there was 4-5 shows with no actual shows in the folder, just top level folder with the metadata still there that seems to have been orphaned. I cleaned it all up remotely and it seems that all is well again. Thanks for pointing me in the correct direction. Erik1 point

That sounds like you are using the folder view on the Roku but some other view in the other app. I do not think the Roku app causes the folder to go away when it "deletes" the series and in the folder view empty folders get shown. I suggest you check what view you are using on the Roku app.1 point

You can setup a TailScale https://tailscale.com/ VPN that is used strictly by the two machines. With the VPN in place you can access the files of the other computer just as if it was a computer on your LAN (just slower). You can then map the other machines drives to your local machine and set those up on your main server. You can do the reverse as well so files could be accessed from either server. You won't technically need two servers running at this point but it never hurts to have a spare up and running.1 point
