You might consider using just one server and sharing the media from the other (this may depend on your network design), instead of switching between two servers. Paul2 points

The answer is maybe - unfortunately, Dolby Vision has confused things greatly with the idea of Profiles. Profile 5 - Has no HDR10 layer - thus, will not play unless everything in the chain supports Dolby Vision P5. This is the base DV profile, and I've yet to hear of any DV device not playing DV5. Profile 7 - Has both DV and HDR10. But these are meant for actual UHD Disks only - thus there are additional considerations such as layers. In short, this profile has the LEAST amount of chance working (as a DV Rip) even on a DV enabled device, as only the Shield and a few other players will even attempt to play it as DV. It SHOULD however fallback to HDR10 on a non DV device. Profile 8 - Has both DV and HDR10 - BUT these are not directly ripped - they are constructed by combining both a HDR10 and a DV Source (from DV7 or DV5). When created correctly, they are the BEST chance of working in both a DV and non-DV (HDR10) device - but if created badly, then they work in neither ! So, in summary, a sorry state of affairs.. If you have non-DV devices (such as your Samsung TV) - then my advice is to stick with HDR10 or HDR10+ sources - steer clear of DV !2 points

I've managed to narrow down the problem. At my friend's freshly installed emby server, he is offered an HTTP port which works. While on my server, after I added external domain and then removed it, HTTP IP and port got replaced with HTTPS in UI (dashboard, "Remote access" section), which doesn't work. Using HTTP protocol and port instead still works, so I guess there's that.2 points

He wants to watch all connected shows as if they were one show. It's about more than just the crossover episodes. It's about the episode sequence including multiple shows.1 point

You're on the right track then. For normal usage I don't know of any advantage bind mounts would have over the simpler docker volumes. You DO want to make sure that all of the server and media related data are on persistent host storage and not in the container. Mapping /config takes care of most of that but if you decide to add/change custom paths then make sure they are also mapped within or in addition to existing volumes.1 point

Thank you! I was able to manually update the Synology to the correct version, and update the Emby package accordingly anyway. Works great!1 point

Understanding the need for two servers will allow us to advise further. If it's because they hold different media - but you'd like a single account to access them both - then as Paul has said above, the easiest way is to make one of them the 'master' emby server - and simply access the other servers via a network share. You could, if you wanted to, do the same with the secondary server - and it shares the masters media. That way you'll have two emby 'servers' each with identical content - BUT the users will NOT be kept in sync unless you copy the user database from the master emby server. Let us know your scenerio and we'll try and assist further if required.1 point

indeed - I've had to reconstruct a few that failed to play on a FireTV 4K Max WITH a DV enabled TV - it didn't play either DV or HDR10 just a black screen. But the scripts have a 'FIXER' option (option 2 then option 1 ) that resyncs the DV8 - L5/L6/SYNC/SCENE/FPS and Colour Range .. Seems to work ok after that ..1 point

There is unfortunately a lot of 'poor' DV8 (DV + HDR10) files out there that have not been 'constructed' properly - meaning the HDR10 layer does not work. You NEED this to work because your TV does not support Dolby Vision - as explained above. If you have a file that does not play - then there are tools available (see RESET_9999) that can potentially 'fix' these files and make them play properly (as HDR10).1 point

Good day Gentlemen, I´d like to chip in on this. I encounter the same issue as described above. From what I can tell, the "single track" playing once you hit "shuffle all" refers to Folders as @Lukementioned. If you´d have a folder structure eg. an album where you´d have 2 or more tracks located in, It´d actually add all of those in the queue. However, this does not exactly reflect the "shuffle all" function expected. I am not sure if this is related, but in the same menu (Downloads/Music) in the Android app, I seem to fail changing the view or filter. In most cases it basically does not adjust the view as it would in the "connected Server/[Media Library]" menu. This issue i´ve seen on several phones for the past 3 years, so I guess this is within the APP. I´d be happy to provide more details, but I am not that good with debugging android yet and also am on travel for next 2 weeks. Sidenote: I love what the Emby Team created here! Mark all previous episodes, upto and including S4:E1, as WATCHED (PLAYED). S4:E2 would then be the next unwatched episode. You may want to go through all of your episodes for this TV show and check that none of them have been inadvertently marked as WATCHED.1 point

I noticed that often we point out what is wrong without ever thanking for what is going well... I wanted to make up for it and encourage you because your work deserves it! For my part I am starting to have good results with FFmpeg but it does not yet correspond to my desire. I would like to embed my waveform (.png with a transparent background) in the playback bar at the bottom of the screen to the right of the controls (play, stop, etc.). I need 2 images with 2 different shades to show the progression. Later I think I will come to you to find out how to fit in properly1 point

Ah, hadn't found those; but yeah a by-forum filter would be good. I just figured adding a couple more options to the existing filters would be quite handy. They're right there after all.1 point

I haven't seen options to do more than change the codec and quality. If you want to downmix to stereo then processing the media outside of Emby might be your best approach. Then you can add a stereo stream to the media and preserve x.1 so multiple audio streams are available during playback.1 point

Update - Swapped over to XCP-ng with two SYS-6019U-TRT servers and a P4000 in the one running the Emby VM using passthrough. I tested with Twister (VC1, burned in subtitles) since it always skipped/buffered when streaming; it ran perfect. I tried a 4K and there was some struggle still but I think that may be too heavy on my wireless. Will test that again when I have a wired client.1 point

well... unlike the holy grail, tvnext exists. i was part of the first round of testing and softworkz said he hopes to resume testing in the not too distant future.1 point

it works once this morning, most of the undesired genres have been replaced, but I don't know excactly how I've made it !! only one genre "crime" is remaining, and after a lot of tests this afternoon, including the scan of the library, the refresh of metadatas and refresh of files, in different orders, the genre remains ... tomorrow I will edit each movy to replace this genre ; each movie stands now in its own directory, with its artworks and nfo file ; big job, but I think it's almost perfect !1 point

Thanks, after deleting the DLL's in the plugins directory, Emby remained running.1 point

I had stuttering issues also until I went into settings within the Emby app on my shield and there was a selection to tick called something like 'allow .ts streams'. After selecting this worked like a dream1 point

I'll believe it when I see it - because one thing I've learned in the meantime is that promises are no substitute for action.1 point

I'd love to see something like this, but for my use case this is a challenging puzzle to crack. The first is the metadata issue. There is no single authoritative source for ebooks, comics, manga, etc. There are third party tools such as Comicrack and Calibre that are quite good at what they do...the former even does a great job at prepping Comics to be used with other solutions (Komga, etc.). Calibre can be very good at what it does, however it doesn't want to play nice with other solutions (without tweaking). Neither are the easiest to automate. None of these solutions leverage APIs that developers could leverage their own API Keys with. If the developers could somehow address these issues, then the remaining challenges will be comparably easier (there are existing book readers they could leverage, and synchronizing notes, state, and bookmarks is probably not horrific). My current solutions are less than ideal. For comics, I use Tachiyomi that syncs up with Komga, which gets its metadata by way of Comicrack. For ebooks I'm currently using Moon Reader+ that syncs state to gdrive and pulls books from Calibre-Web, which gets its metadata via Calibre. All of this is high touch, convoluted, and has mediocre usability.1 point

Thanks softy!! And appreciate the openness of this. I’ve always known Emby has never collected any user data or stats, right from day dot of VB and MB. I’m on board with this and think its a very responsible action to take. so thanks emby team1 point
