On both android and iOS, with device orientation set to automatic, both the youtube and apple tv apps auto-rotate video nowadays. Netflix still always locks you to landscape, and we did that for years as well, but we never had an answer for those who wanted to keep it portrait and still play video. Now I find the automatic method much better because you essentially get to decide based on how you're holding the device. Now I realize that some may like the always lock to landscape behavior, so we'll make that an option to go back to that way.

I'd like to be able to allow users to download home videos and things, but not movies.

Sorry, I'm generally a noob with emby, I've used it off and on for the last couple of years, but just decided to make the complete switch from Plex, so forgive me if I'm using the wrong terminology. Just wondering if anyone is working on a project to get images from theposterdb. They have a lot of Collection artwork that can't be found anywhere else, and lots of themed artwork within those collections. Would be nice to have an agent that handles the downloading of those. For some reason, I don't seem to get all of the poster artwork from Emby that Plex seems to get, for instance, my Garden of Sinners posters all looked similar in Plex, but there's 2 of them that aren't getting the poster images that Plex seemed to be able to find. So having a single source repository for Poster art would be awesome. I am also having the same issue with my Hana to Hebi Live Action movies, both the ones from the late 70's and early 80's as well as the ones from the Early 2000's. The posters just aren't showing up despite them being matched appropriately.

With auto-rotate activated I agree, with auto-rotate deactivated in the system settings YouTube respect the aspect ratio of the video and takes that into consideration whether it goes into landscape mode or not. Did you even see the clip I made to show what I mean?

Ahh, it may of been some confusion of them thinking emby use to use the dash as JF uses the dash. However there going to update their sonarr and radarr guides to the correct method of tvdbid/tmdbid/imdbid=

Reinstalled Emby on iPadOS and it started working.

AFAIK plugin will be/already is renamed to Backup & Restore and starting from 4.8 will include everything - complete programdata folder.

Yes, I thought so too, but I wanted to take the unknown out of the equation. Just because the other profiles work, I don't believe in a bug in the plugin either. I will get back to you with results

Is that the only reason ? JF for AndroidTV seems to understand the requirement nicely .. The more I use the JF for AndroidTV - the more I like it - being honest here, I like it more than the Emby AndroidTV App (it is modern looking functional version of that App..) Putting all the configuration/preferences in the proper Android TV side bars is so nice .. it all integrates beautifully .. .. one of my primary reasons for not even giving the Android client a fair test is this screen below - it's just ugly and unfinished, the episode thumbnail is not even centered in the white background ... If you need to do vertical scrolling, then do what AndroidTV did and just highlight the area BORDER (in grey/low intensity white) .. Although I actually much prefer how JF are doing it (Horizontal Scrolling - to match the rest of the App.. and this makes much better use of the screen estate for the highlighted option ..) anyway - sorry, way off topic .. back to Refresh Rate / Resolution switching - sorry !

TV is at my mother's house. She's 89 and I'm trying to consolidate everything to just a single remote (Samsung TV). I set her up with a Denon receiver, Nvidia Shield and DirectTV and a LG TV back in the day. The LG died and I got her a new Samsung (QN65Q70C) QLED. She forgets stuff and very often I have to come over and "fix" whatever she pushed on the Denon or Samsung remote to change the input or whatever. So my plan is to ditch everything but the new Samsung. Will ditch DirecTV as well and convert her to YouTube TV, Netflix, Prime and Emby as her only sources. I have port forwarding enabled in the firewall at my house for Emby and only allowing the subnet she's on to access it. Works great on her Shield when I set it up there, but some some reason I don't seem to be able to get to that on the new TV. I'm going back over there this evening and will have another go at it. For now she's still accessing Emby via the Shield and I have not gotten a call yet this week about her messing up the input selection on either the Denon or TV. Q70C has an option to always power up to the "home screen", so I'm hoping once I get everything customized to just show those 4 main sources there, it will drastically cut down back on "support calls".

Well investigated. if you turn on debug logging - the MediaInfo plugin has some very comprehensive logs on exactly what it is doing - so if you hit future issues, thats a good place to start. Just don't forget to turn it off again or the logs will be huge .. Enjoy.

Resolved! I don't know why but in the settings the paths of the mediainfo and mkvtoolnix files had changed

There's a sentence fragment pointing to footnote 16 that repeats three times at random locations in the document. I'll admit I misread that section I quoted earlier, my initial takeaway was that it was saying the first, identified vulnerability wasn't used, when it's actually saying that of the second, unidentified vulnerability. So it's not the concern I thought it was, although as someone who was until last night stuck on a vulnerable version due to the DSM 6 issues it's not great.

Fixed. Edited ../docker/emby/config/config/system.xml Removed the <LocalNetworkAddress> node (I think). Restarted docker container

Looked in the logs myself. Noticed I needed a new trakt PIN again. Working now.

@pünktchenI am trying to utilize the migration tool to bring my old people folder (with the first letter as a folder, then the people with that letter beneath it...the old way it was done, now back again thank goodness). However, I am having an issue that I assume is because I am not sure how to set the migration tool properly. In my metadata/people folder it is all organized in the new way (I am on the current release of Emby). When I run the tool, I click the check on "Migrate people that exist in a legacy people (A-Z) folder" check box and put my old people folder in path path field, I check the box for "Create subfolders by people name first letter (Emby 4.7 and above)" and the box "Migrate only people that have images". Nothing else checked. I then save and click Run Migration. It runs and fine but: I moves all the subfolders (a through z, etc.) to a folder under people called _legacy and then only brings in about 29,000 files and folders...but my people folder has over 100,000. Also, it appears to leave the _legacy folder there with all the stuff that was in it before. No errors, it finishes with "Migration finished successfully". Am I setting something wrong here? What I want is for it to bring in my old people folder and update the pictures. I would be OK even it even just brought in the ones that didn't already exist. Any help would be appreciated...I am sure it is me here, but I must be missing something? Thanks. EDIT: I think I got it sorted out. The _legacy folder only appears to have left items that where either no picture, or they are duplicates. I am reprocessing now and will see how it works out. My problem now is that I failed to think about the fact that the metadata folder is in my /var/lib/emby folder and that drive is not that big. Given the cluster sizing, all these tiny files are likely to fill that disk (which of course is not cool, given that is my OS drive and I am thinking bad stuff is going to happen when it fills up).

I have a similar problem with certain files on AppleTV, I like to have tv shows on random. The first episode always plays fine, but after a while (sometimes after one, sometimes after several) episodes just have a gray screen while the audio plays. Once it happens it never plays right again. It certainly seems like an app problem, these files play fine on pc and emby theater. Haven't tested ipad or android.

That will likely still be the same in 4.8, although the Remove Identification feature could sometimes help with this situation. Anyhow I'll take another look at this. Thanks.

That design is my original one from our app in 2014 (they've just never changed it). We moved to a more modern (and universal) view a long time ago.

Can confirm, E4K can now see TvTunes 2.0.8 and theme media sync is now working perfectly for me with Kodi 20.1/Emby 4.8.0.39/E4K 8.2.8 (set to link mode, didn't try download). Thank you @quickmic!

Is this being seriously looked at? I appreciate the responsiveness when new issue are brought up, but this has been going on for close to 8 months and the inconvenience of having to completely restart the app makes the Android app virtually unusable. Can the feature not simply be removed entirely until a solution is found? It's a bit disappointing for a paid user to still be waiting on a fix for this...

Can you please provide the model for both LG TV's and the media info for the files are you trying to play? Are these local TV recordings, or are they DVD/Bluray rips? It looks like there is an incompatibility with the mkv container which the TV tried and failed playing, so the server is streaming the original video and audio in a new container with no conversion of the original video and audio. This means the server impact is low and there is no loss of quality.

They have a new forum since reddit was removed (very new, not much on there at the moment..) - I've never used Discord so maybe they are there as well. If I thought the Emby Dev's would read and act on it - but we've all been doing that for their own AndroidTV App vs Android App and very little has changed in terms of UX - so being brutally honest here - I'm not gonna waste my time any further ...

Good Day everyone been playing with the VideoPlayer today. Just fancied not creating UI's and just to implement it. Some work to do with the Video OSD now, but the basics are there.
