It has been a while and I'd like to bring attention to this feature request again. Specifically, it would be fabulous to have the option to search either globally or just within the library one is in. Probably not every user needs or wants this. But it would be a great option for users with large libraries with different types of media who do need it. If other users agree, please respond or include positive feedback and even examples as to why this would be a valuable feature addition for EMBY. Cheers!2 points

Hello, would it be possible to set the default fields in table view? I really love primary and table view, but each time I switch back to table view, I've got the default fields from Would it be possible to set this user based? Or at least as admin? cheers Peter2 points

Other tabs hide themselves when they have no content to display. There's no reason for this one to behave differently.2 points

What is the title of the collection? Is the "Sort Title" the same? - you can view and edit the sort title in the collection's metadata. Paul2 points

The underpinnings for that are there but, at some point, we have to stop adding things that then have to be tested and just get a release out. I'm not sure how extensive the permission editing will be in the first release.2 points

Emby for Apple TV 1.7.3 - Multi-Color Logos, Sorting Playlists and Collections Emby for Apple TV 1.7.3 adds many new features that improve the user experience in powerful to subtle ways. Support Multi-Color Logos based on Theme in Use Emby for Apple TV now supports both light and dark sets of logos. The app will automatically choose which logos to use based on the theme in use. Here are a couple screen shots, showing this: Dark Theme Guide with Light Logo Light Theme Guide with Dark Logo Emby's built in guide service for Live TV already provides both sets of logos for most channels. If using a different guide source, the logos can optionally be manually changed to take advantage of this new feature in our Apple TV client app. Support for Sorting Playlists and Collections Emby for Apple TV now supports sorting both Playlists and Collections. For music, you can sort by popular categories such as: Artist, Album, Son & Year. Here's a couple screen shots showing this: Support for Dynamic Data Driven Tabs Navigational Tabs displayed at the top of different media screens are now dynamically created based on the data itself. For example, if the media isn't associated with any tags, genre, playlists or collections, the navigational tab would not include those items. Support for Server Wake on LAN Emby for Apple TV now supports the Wake on LAN feature of the Emby Server. You can now go green by allowing your server to sleep when not in use, knowing you can wake it up from the same local network using Emby for Apple TV. Here's a screen shot of this in action: Various Video Playback Improvements Emby for Apple TV also includes improvements to video playback.1 point

One GUI possibility is that we could begin by displaying all of the EPG channels, which could be hundreds. Of these channels 30 could be selected and published to the EPG. A channel can also be clicked and edited. Here Emby media can be associated with this channel, by surfing the Emby library, using code similar to Bulky. Tags are automatically added to the media selected for a channel. These tags can also be removed when content is deleted. These are just ideas Vic1 point

A self-signed certificate is not going to be in any device's trust store unless you manually add either your root or the certificate itself. If you can't add a cert to the LG TV trust store/CA bundle then it's not going to work.1 point

Totally see where you’re coming from. Would be killer to make these two options user adjustable.1 point

My only thought on that is that once you have a gap of more than a minute in your recording, then the recording itsself is pretty much shot. Id rather know it didnt finish than have a 5 minute hole in the recoeding. That said, Im hoping that errors can be picked up upon and restart the recording fresh. According to @Carlo(and I agree), only hardware errors have caused restarts.....havent seen m3u recordings be restarted because of an error. Im hoping to see some improvement in the reconnect option changes that are now in beta.1 point

It would be a big disappointment if Alexa is not enabled in EMBY. Promises MUST BE KEPT Hispa1 point

@Carlo, my thanks for looking into this as well. Glad the article was helpful. Since the -reconnect 1 has never been included in the ffmpeg options, it will be interesting to see how that addition may improve things. It's my understanding that the other "reconnect" options currently would not do anything since this has been missing from the start. I agree about 1 minute of retrying would be a good middle ground.1 point

I Fixed it. it was from a torrent so... i deleted the files then redownloaded then without a dedicated folder for the TV Show, Then did the Identify1 point

Keep in mind the 127 setting would actually be over 4 minutes of retries. My thinking was to use something around 1 minute to handle what I'd consider minor issues. If a stream is down for over a minute, there is probably something more serious going on. Regardless, I still think we should keep trying and record as much as possible for the duration of the movie/show/time slot. The difference is that after a minute, it might be better to hand control back to Emby Server to retry. It could be the provider switched the stream to a new location and the ffmpeg retry won't be trying that. But if Emby Server was to try the parent stream again it could pick up a redirect to a new location and continue recording. Keep in mind some entries in m3u point to m3u8 files which might be set up with multiple quality streams. Emby might have picked the highest quality stream the first time but could try a different stream the second time. I'm not sure exactly how the code handles this at present but something like that could certainly be done. Does that make sense to try and leverage the "best of both" to do what's needed to get the recording?1 point

The problem in this case was an incorrect risk assessment, and the way how you are tracking issues doesn't matter much when you assign a wrong severity to the issue. I agree that the forums are very unsuitable for tracking issues. On the other side, if our internal tracking would be public, it would be difficult to understand and we would need to permanently explain entries and have an additional layer for non-public discussions. At one time I was wondering whether there might be some plugin for the forums which provides some tracking capabilities but I haven't come to pitch the idea and research on it..1 point

hi are there plugins available for emby that are not actually in plugins section that people have made if so is there a list or link someone can point me to please1 point

According to the article linked above that's what I got from it. There is very little documentation about this anywhere! I've not looked at the source code for this, but that would be way to see exactly how this works.1 point

@mixXximI added the return button to the Emby Filter. I will upload a plugin update to the Emby Library later this week. Vic1 point

Hi, Please can Emby stop resetting the EnableAutoUpdate flag in system.xml to True every time an update is applied. I know you want people to test new releases but it is a security concern to automatically apply updates. <EnableAutoUpdate>false</EnableAutoUpdate> I use a Windows service, so this does not directly apply - but for updates I need to stop the service and run the App as a standard task, but then it will automatically install the new update without any confirmation, once run, I then have to remember to then edit the sytem.xml file back to false again each time. Thanks.1 point

The monthly option is your TRY plan What you actually want is a cheaper monthly option because you perceive it to be too expensive based on what competitors charge1 point

Second this. When I'm out buying CDs, I use Emby to check to see if I have something already, as well as the format—I have a number of albums in MP3 format that I want to update to FLAC. Anyway, I like to use the table view with the "container" option selected to do this, but every... single... time... I do this I have to change the settings from what Emby uses as default. It is so very annoying. It would be great if we could simply chose our defaults on a per user basis and then Emby would roll with that.1 point

Thank you! (The disto was xubunutu, btw. My bad for not including it.) It'd be really great if info like this could be added somewhere in the knowledge base for those of us near the beginning of our Linux journies. (If it's already there and I missed it, apologies.)1 point

I'll try my best and will report back if I manage, in case someone else wishes to do something like that1 point

Yea, I get it, but I'd rather you didn't add features until you were ready to at least make them usable. The public/private playlists are useless if it's only for new playlists and if you can't change who can edit them.1 point
-
Ok, I will reproduce this and get a log, I will also grab a log for the one error using TheMovieDB. Might take me a couple days as I'm travelling for work.1 point

It's still missing basic functionality though, like the ability to change existing playlists to private and ability to control who can edit. Those will be added before this beta goes to stable right?1 point

I was thinking of giving Emby a chance, but Jellyfin seems to be better, Emby looks like Plex every time, he doesn't see the need for users, Emby Connect is not a solution, it complicates it.1 point

OK, I understand now -- I will look into it and let you know. I appreciate all of your suggestions. Thanks, Vic1 point

It's probing each track for media info. This can take some time, but subsequent scans should be faster. Scan times should also be improved in the upcoming 4.8 server release. Thanks.1 point

@kkhanHi, no there isn't, unless you take your entire data folder from the old server to the new one. Given the age of it though, a fresh start might make some sense.1 point

The incident has forced us to put a lot of things on hold, including user support. We're still catching up on those things. The report I promised is coming, though. Yet, I have provided many details already in individual posts, so when you have an urgent desire, you might do as suggested here: There's also another subject coming up regarding those so-called "isolated" or "local-only" setups of Emby Server where users are assuming they would be safe, even when using empty admin passwords. I'm just not clear yet, about how to explain the vulnerability without giving hints to potential attackers for exploiting it.1 point

No, just no. This is what leads to every place ever requiring 2FA, their own brand/version of it, forcing email checks, phone number checks, video checks, you name it. Just no. Emby is a streaming application. IF something (say, a plugin) can take advantage of an admin account to cause nefarious activity, then it's not the admin account's fault. It's the developer's fault. it's just that simple. Applications should be designed so that this type of escalation isn't possible, and not by forcing people to use passwords to watch a damn show on television app! In the years I ran Plex, I had ONE account on that server. ONE. Just the one. How many times did I have to login? Rarely, which is fine. Then, I actually used Plex's login system to get in, no worries. With Emby, it's completely opposite . EVERY TIME you exit the application, you're forced to log right back in. Switch accounts? Enter your password. Exit the app? Enter your password. This is completely inappropriate for a streaming application, and unacceptable.1 point

HI, we've got this resolved. We'll be getting an update out as soon as we can. Thanks.1 point

Hello Luke and Thank You for responding back. I had to rethink this and verify the workflow and how the data is transmitted. I believe it not to be within my network for the mere reason is that if I am not using Android Auto interface integrated with Emby, there are no issue's with packet loss or response time. Able to listen, watch, browse with Emby w/o error. When using Android Auto with Emby I was also pinging my firewall for response times. There was no packet loss at all. If I am away from home across the world connected through wireguard vpn into my pfSense firewall, I am not seeing any packet loss. So it is either Emby not sending the data quick enough or Android putting the cart before the horse. Let me know your thoughts. Dave1 point

@rbjtech Ha, I've had my Panasonic Plasma for over a decade now and it's staying as the main screen until it tells me it's time to retire. Those Panasonics really were a special combination of picture quality and price point.1 point

I have solve the issue by downgrade the android TV app to this one https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/blob/dc7d4cab06e23ccce521d13af713bd09ba0e4301/androidtv/app-google-release.apk It seems like the updates on android 12 combability may introduce bugs on android 10 devices.1 point

Yes, this would be useful. The only workaround I've found is to create separate accounts that are restricted to certain libraries, so I have my TV logged into an account with access to only video libraries and I alternate between the video-only and audio-only account on my phone. I have a large audio collection (250,000+ songs) and having a single user with access to both libraries makes things like searching very slow. And while we're on the topic of searching, here's a shameless plug for my search improvements feature request: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/101211-search-improvements-music/ Namely, the ability to search for artist AND title in the same search, like one can do with most other audio streamers (e.g., Subsonic and it's clones, Ampache, Navidrome, etc.) as well as streaming services (e.g., Spotify, Pandora, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, etc.).1 point

Whenever I do a search I get results from all libraries. I would like the option to limit a search to a specified library. Here's why: Example 1: if I search for "Star Wars" I will get results from all libraries: movies from my "movie library", the film score from my "music library" and an interview with John Williams and Harrison Ford from my "interviews library". Since I know I am looking for the film score it seems one should be able to search the "music library" so that one doesn't get a dozen irrelevant results. I feel this is an important feature, particularly when one has a very large library with different types of media. Example 2: I have an older iTunes library of media from earlier years that is mp3 or low resolution type formats. I also have a more recent library that only has higher resolution audio, such as FLAC. If I want to find the high resolution FLAC version of Fleetwood Mac "Dreams", for example, searching for it will result in finding both the older mp3 version and a higher resolution FLAC version. I will then have to look into the specs for each to find the version I am looking for. If there was an ability to search by library this would facilitate finding exactly what one wants faster. Both on Windows and Mac OS one has the option to search everywhere or to limit the search to within the folder one has open. A similar approach in Emby wherein one can search everywhere or within just the single library one has open would be welcome. Thank you for looking into this.1 point

Why i s every feature on emby "hardcoded". Why admin cant decide and turn off on some option. Like in this case..search library options, click what libraries you want to be searched and what not, than every emby admin can decide. You guys need to stop introducing new features that are hardcoded, we need options for those features. Now we have discussions on who likes what, this is not a hair saloon, this is software and we (emby users and admins) need options to turn off / on something and not to discuss what is the best feature and how to implement it, because always someone will disagree.1 point

Hi. if you are talking about Luke or me, I'm sorry but, as we've pointed out many times, this is simply incorrect. WE are the original contributors. We were just giving away all our work for a fairly long period of time. It is the other guys that wouldn't have anything if we hadn't created it and given it to them (which we did so nothing wrong with what they are doing other than removing attribution from the code).1 point
